Geometric attributes such as coherence and curvature have been very successful in delineating faults in sedimentary basins. Albeit not a common exploration objective, fractured and faulted basement forms important reservoirs in Southern California, Mexico, India, Yemen, and Vietnam. Basement faulting controls hydrothermally altered dolomite in the Appalachian Basin of the USA, and is suspected to play a role in diagenetic alteration of carbonates in the Fort Worth Basin of north Texas where copper has been found in some wells, as well as in Osage County, Oklahoma, not far from the classic Miss

AbstractTracy Letts’s screenplay, August: Osage County (2013), and John Wells’s film adaptation (2013) offer a compelling critique of American racism towards Native Americans which demands that viewers consider their own inculcation into ongoing settler-nation colonialism. The film layers the history of place (Oklahoma) with the Cheyenne character Johnna, whose Indigenous heritage is negotiated throughout by liberal academics, conservative rural matriarchs, and Johnna herself. The role is small but essential to the film’s allegorical analysis of settler-colonialism and racism. The Weston famil

This article examines the literary portrayal of the female sexagenarian in the Pulitzer-Prize winning play. The gerontological portrait of the elderly is analyzed in the context of “the young old” adults. The theoretical background of the article is formed from an array of humanities-related disciplines: in particular, sociology, literary gerontology, medical humanities. The author of the article studies how the notion of normativity in late adulthood is represented in August: Osage County. The playwright subverts the concepts of successful and healthy aging in the images of Violet and Beverly

A multiproxy study from Sweeton Pond, Ozark County, Missouri, USA, provides a high-resolution 1900-year-long history of vegetation and fire in the southern Missouri Ozarks, where the modern vegetation is oak-hickory ( Quercus-Carya) forest. Pollen and charcoal data are compared with dendroecological data to assess how climate and fire shaped local vegetation history. Land use, particularly by the Osage tribe of Native Americans, is assessed from historical and archaeological records. Three cultural periods are superimposed on the paleoenvironmental history: (1) The Pre-Osage period, ending ~15

Systems tracts and depositional system successions can be interpreted at marginal seismic resolution using well log motif with seismic reflector character within a depositional context. Shelf-prism and subaqueous, delta-scale clinoforms of Missourian age observed in 3D seismic were interpreted with greater sequence stratigraphic detail when coupled with wireline well logs. Abstract:
In this thesis, Kochman examines the textual references to poetry in contemporary playwright Tracy Letts's "Man from Nebraska," "August: Osage County," and "Superior Donuts" and explores how specific references function as a "poetic exchange" between the protagonists and the respective agents of change or moral touchstones in each play and how these "poetic exchanges" suggest a diminishment or elevation of the intrinsic value of art -- specifically, poetry -- as a force for personal and cultural renewal. While Letts's writing is hardly "poetic" and his structure closer to "narrative," he focu
