This diploma thesis deals with the structural design and production of a oscillating head for surface welding of a protective layer of Inconel® 625 superalloy on membrane walls. The design is preceded by a research for possible variants of the solution. Of the two designs, one was successfully manufactured and assembled, and incentives for future improvements were set. In this thesis, I demonstrate the dynamic way in which musical processes can be described as metaphors. Using Steve Larson’s three main metaphors (gravity, inertia, and magnetism) as a starting point, I propose additional metaphors (friction, repulsion, momentum, wave, orbit, and oscillation) to analyze the first movements of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, K 466 and Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor, op. 54. The neural mechanisms behind human voluntary motion are not fully characterized yet, in spite of numerous research studies. Slow ( 0.1 Hz) brain oscillations are known to have a powerful modulatory effect on several cognitive and physiological phenomena, including free movement. This study is based on fMRI data acquired from 25 young, healthy subjects. The tasks were: rest, self-paced motion, motion paced by a periodic 0.1 Hz stimulus.
