Chlorine dioxide based chemical oscillating behavior was modeled by a simple scheme consisting of three component reactions. Furthermore, little is known about the influence of the pH value. In this study, four component reactions were used to model the chlorite – iodide – ethyl acetoacetate oscillating reaction by dynamic analysis software. The oscillatory phenomenon is observed for concentration changes of triiodide ion, chlorite ion, and hydrogen ion. The initial concentration of ethyl acetoacetate, chlorite ion, iodide ion, and hydrogen ion has great influence on oscillations. The amplitud

AbstractWe have studied the stirring effect on the time-delayed bifurcations of transient oscillations in the Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) oscillating chemical reaction in a closed system. Experiments show that oscillations disappear through the time-delayed Hopf bifurcations, whose parameters depend on the stirring rate. The explanation of the stirring effect is based on the theories of diffusion-controlled reactions and hydrodynamic turbulence. We show that an increase of the stirring rate leads to an increase of the rate constant for the diffusion-controlled reaction. We propose a kinetic sche

Oscillating chemical bulk reactions of the Belousov–Zhabotinsky (BZ) type usually show a well-defined periodical color change representing the underlying chemical reactions. Models including up to more than 50 coupled reactions have been developed to describe the BZ-reaction in detail, however, typically a much simpler set of equations is used (i.e. the Brüsselator, the FKN, or the FitzHugh–Nagumo model). There are various types of oscillating reactions with color changes, for example, from transparent to yellow ( Ce catalyzed), or from blue to red (Ferroin catalyzed). In equilibrium systems a

Chemical reactions, which are far from equilibrium, are capable of displaying oscillations in species concentrations and hence in colour, electrode potential, pH and/or temperature. The oscillations arise from the interplay between positive and negative kinetic feedback. Mechanisms for such reactions are presented, along with the rich phenomenology that these systems exhibit, from complex oscillations and chemical waves, to stationary concentration patterns. This review will focus on the Belousov-Zhabotinksy reaction but reference to other reactions will be made where appropriate.

Thus, pH modulated switching of the CB7 wheel is accompanied by significant changes in the emission spectrum. Additionally, a thiosulfate-sulfite-iodate oscillating reaction which generates large amplitude pH oscillations can be carried out in the same solution. Nonlinear dynamics is prevalent in chemical engineering systems and gives rise to mique characteristics, such as bistability, hysteresis, oscillations and chaos. Chaos or aperiodicity is a unique nonlinear dynamical phenomenon which induces unpredictable oscillations and extreme sensitivity to reaction conditions. Analysis of nonlinear reaction dynamics is therefore necessary to ensure reliable and robust performance of systems.

The subject of this thesis is the generation of spatial temporal structures in living cells. Specifically, we studied the Min-system in the bacterium Escherichia coli. It consists of the MinC, the MinD, and the MinE proteins, which play an important role in the correct selection of the cell division site. The Min-proteins oscillate between the two cell poles and thereby prevent division at these locations. In this way, E. coli divides at the center, producing two daughter cells of equal size, providing them with the complete genetic patrimony. Our goal is to perform a quantitative study, both
