Full textThis work presents the development of a reconfigurable system based on OSGi (Open Services Gateway Initiative) home gateway using the FemtoJava technology, aiming to automate the discovery of services. Automation home systems usually include products from different manufacturers and have different communication protocols, it is necessary to use an agent to manage this communication. For this to occur successfully, OSGi Alliance offers a range of specifications in an open platform, Java, for the delivery of various types of services to end users. Using OSGi framework features, intelligent environments focused on a new control system using this architecture targeted to services for residential gateway. The system was implemented on a reconfigurable platform family with the help of Xilinx ISE synthesis tool. The work also presents the validation of the architecture proposed in a case study using the two modules to interact with the environment simulating a temperature control system.

Full textThis research is formally classified as a study of Franco-Vietnarnese non governmental relations. It deals with the evaluation of the French non-governmental organisations (OSI), one of the major contributors who has significantly invested in Vietnam as well as in many humanitarian endeavours to aid in the development since 1975. On one level, it takes into consideration these various aspects: origin, structure, resources, practices, employment conditions, and modes of intervention at the national office as well as in the field. On the other level, it indicates gratitude for the diversity study and the implemented actions taken. It also indicates the assets they have above other participants, the weaknesses that limit theirs actions, the relations they have established with other partners, and the role they play in instituting social policies for the country. The objective is to clarify the factors that constitute and affect this community, and to indicate how they can obtain the objective of thejr function in the particular Vietnamese context marked by the seizure of a Party Government and the presence of a great number of international actors. Over 300 French NGOs working in Vietnam is an impressive phenomenon. Their contribution to the promotion of Franco-Vietnamese relations is undeniable, However, this motivated and competent community has suffered from jnsufficient attention from the political protagonists of the two countries. There are many things that can be done by both the public authorities and the non governmental organisations to make French help more efficient and to give an exemplary image of the cooperation between a developed country and a developing one

Full textThis thesis is about the design of a Telematics for Totally Transparent Transports System
(T4 System). T4 System combines Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technology with
ordinary fleet management systems to monitor and track cargo on a global scale. This
means that the cargo itself and not the vehicle transporting the cargo will be observed.
This has the advantage that a change in the transportation method can be made without
interrupting the tracking device. T4 System is not only a simple tracking device which only
monitors the transportation conditions; it also interacts with the chain of transportation
in case of a faulty situation, to provide the possibility to correct the error.
To keep the transportation process as transparent as possible T4 System uses a two way
communication and control strategy which allows, e.g. the customer, to check and/or
update the transport conditions or measurement parameters, respectively, in run-time,
when the situation demands it.

Full textSom en följd av utvecklingen inom vetenskap och teknik så har användningen av smarta lösningar i hushållen ökat drastiskt. Att samla dessa apparater och få dem att fungera tillsammans som ett effektivt system, skapar ett nytt hem och ett nytt sätt att leva: ett smart hem. Å ena sidan så ger smartare lösningar ett bekvämare boende, men å andra sidan innebär det också många tekniska och affärsinriktade hinder att ta sig över. Det primära målet med denna avhandling är att utforma en bostadsgateway som är att utforma en standardiserad, säker, open source, maskinvaruoberoende, interoperabel Residential Gateway. En serviceorienterad arkitektur föreslås med hjälp av OSGi-ramverket för utformning av bostadsgateway-komponenter. Komponenterna innefattar behörighetskontroll för husägare för tillgångskontroll, resurshanteringskomponenter för hantering av anslutna enheter, automationskomponent för att inkludera automationstjänst och slutligen kontextkomponent för att tillhandahålla kontextbevakad tjänster till husägaren. Den slutliga designen som föreslås försöker lösa de problem som vissa automationssystem som finns på marknaden står inför. Utvärderingen av konstruktionen med grundläggande krav för att bygga hemgateways och med befintliga system ger information om de improviserade funktionerna. De komponenter som föreslås i konstruktionen kan användas för att bygga en bostadsgateway som stöder flera tjänster och flera användare. Den föreslagna konstruktionen kommer att beaktas vid utformningen av Acreos hemautomatiseringssystem.

A smart home environment consists of collaborating ICT (Information and Communication Technology) devices interconnected by the home network and provides us with a more convenient, autonomous, and secure living space. This thesis demonstrate how to implement a smart home infrastructure by virtue of the OSGi framework and UPnP techniques. The extensible and flexible software architecture of our system eases adjusting and reloading the interfaces of sensors/appliances during runtime. More specifically, the contributions of this thesis are: 1) we implemented a remote authentication service based on OSGi; 2) we implemented a virtual SmartCam device based on UPnP; 3) we developed a remote control service that manipulates three IP Cameras by combining OSGi with UPnP .

Full textAlthough clinical evaluation and examination is regarded as the basis of scientifically founded nursing care, it is inherently a subjective process. This process is complicated by the variability of four inter-related systems, namely the eyaluator, the clinical environment, the student nurse and other individuals. The purpose of the study was the analysis of current evaluation practices and the OSCE and to determine the perception of clinical educational personnel and student nurses in this regard. Consequently a descriptive exploratory survey was done by means of a questionnaire. For the purpose of this study, clinical teaching. Personnel and student nurses associated with the nine affiliated hospitals of one nursing college in the Transvaal were approached. From the obtained data it appears that clinical evaluation and examination remains, to a certain degree, a subjective process. Preconceptions probably influence human judgement. In spite of the occurrence of identified variables the OSCE appears to be a more acceptable approach to clinical examination than traditional long examination methods.

As the application of interactive multimedia Audio/Video Services and DVB-MHP (Digital Video Broadcasting - Multimedia Home Platform)being infused into family Audio/Video Services, the application of DVB-MHP is limited by its resource and its connection to other devices. It cannot work with other platforms coordinately. This study assumes that there is a MHP platform being connected to an OSGi(Open Service Gateway Initiative) platform. We are to provide collaboration between MHP and OSGi services -- to let iDTV, i.e. MHP, and Residential Gateway, i.e. OSGi, share the services and information with each other. Hence, we extend the scope of services and abilities of MHP.

IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is the integration platform for multimedia application services and provides a rich feature set of converged services in Next Generation Network (NGN). People can access IMS services anytime anywhere using their self IMS devices which refers to mobile devices equipped with a Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM) card. Since the rapid development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), people own many devices connected to the Internet in the home or office environment. Except for the mobile devices equipped with USIM card, people wish that these devices connected to the Internet also can access IMS services but without USIM card. Therefore, this thesis proposes an Open Service Gateway Initiative (OSGi)-based IMS service gateway, which can is authorized by the self IMS device and enable these non-IMS devices to access IMS services. Besides, people can transfer his/her session to other devices which are located in the same IMS service gateway.

Progress of science and technology and popularization of the internet network, the technology of the digital home has been getting diversified development all the time. It is not merely the revolutions of the electrical home appliances, but all electronic products contained in house. So there are a lot of to communication network scheme and development platform standard which the digital home propose, doing available merger of the technology, the intelligent family life of orientation is developed. Probes into home network and platform standard, and combine RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) system technology in this thesis, develop digital home interdynamic system. We choose to use OSGi(Open Services Gateway Initiative) platform, and is developing technology combined and using above, and then utilize UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) to be run for the advantage of home network. In the model uses home network scheme of OSGi platform, must control or make the state to the electrical home appliances with OSGi platform via the role of RG (Residential Gateway). OSGi platform can make the electrical home appliances with interdynamic interface to combine UPnP like the TV, become the role of CP (Control Point), control or make the service or the state to CD (Control Device). Let people use TV to operate the electrical home appliances or the electronic product briefly. UPnP offers good mechanism and interface, these information household appliances of control that the user can be convenient, and OSGi platform helps UPnP device (such as the electrical home appliances or electronic product, virtual device ,etc.) lie between the roles of CP and CD, it produces the interdynamic relation to subscribe the service wanted each other. This thesis is proposed the method utilizes each kind of UPnP device service to reach cooperation, for example the combination like camera , doorbell and TV , will become the video monitoring system of a gate , if combine RFID system , let the interdynamic application in the family be more extensive. The focus lies in the interdynamic between people and equipment, the person who holds RFID Tags, can let the equipment know his identity and exist or even position, and make the corresponding response. If RFID Tags has function of sensor (such as the body temperature, room temperature, humidity, the heartbeat, etc.), there are more types of the electronic equipment reference data, as to making the behavior with more intelligence.

The new ubiquitous computer system can operate dynamically and diversely, and in particular, can be applied in a variety of data and information of unpredictable operating environment. OSGi framework is developed and promoted by Intel, IBM ... and dozens of manufacturers in the earliest day. However, the current OSGi framework has not provided complete and reliable operation, especially in the handling of data transmission failure, including the reach of a network, devices, and application errors. Since OSGi is a direct construction of the JVM on the Universal Middleware, the improvement of "Communication effectiveness" is the major drive for manufacturers to overcome the problem. This study try to simulate with a feasible way, and use open platform software which is the most commonly used for wireless local area network for the complete data flow analysis and improvement of communication packets. And follows the world widely recognized algorithms: ALOHA CSMA to achieve its high performance output, this can improve communication quality of service.

In recent years, the development of smart handheld devices is growing rapidly (including mobile phones, PDAs, and other mobile devices). The functionalities provided by mobile devices have become more and more powerful. A great many software applications are built on these mobile devices, and provide us real-time and useful daily life information. The new concept, namely “anytime and anywhere”, introduced by mobile devices, has changed our operation experiences of traditional computer applications. However, the current architecture does not have a handy mechanism that allows users to plug-and-play some software that they are interested in, and have the ability to guide the development and management of these various services. In this research, we propose an OSGi-based Service Delivery mechanism on Android platform. Based on OSGi platform, end users can easily capture and spread the digital information by delivering suitable bundle components for different users’ scenarios.

With the fast development of the e-book market, more and more e-book readers, platforms and software have emerged. However, most of them are proprietary, which thus leads to difficulties in the software sharing and the portability of the software components. This thesis attempts to resolve these problems by presenting a novel e-book platform based on the Open Services Gateway Initiative (OSGi) technique. One characteristic this work is a remote communication protocol (mechanism) between the platform and the application provider on the Internet. It not only enables a secure and legal way to download applications from different application providers, but also provides a means to share/resell the applications/e-books between platforms. Moreover, the TR-069 protocol is integrated into our platform, which is useful for updating and monitoring the platform remotely. This platform also supports an install-validating policy, which enables applications to execute on another java-based platform as long as the target platform acquires the original platform’s permission. By exploiting the OSGi framework that provides a complete registry procedure and well-defined developed APIs, the proposed platform can thus be a stable and reliable java-based platform, and the applications on this platform are easy to install, update and uninstall. The platform contains three layers in design. First, a Core layer is designed as a system manager that is responsible for handling the communication between applications, distributing system resources and monitoring all runtime status of the applications. Second, a System Service layer provides the required libraries for all the basic actions of the E-book requirements. We also define the packet type through the platform and an auto-assignment mechanism for GUI interfaces, which reduces the developing time and increases the flexibility when designing and modifying the platform. In addition, a prototype of the proposed platform is designed and implemented. Since the platform is based on OSGi, several Java applications, such as text editor, photo management, calendar, dictionary, virtual keypad and media player, are rewritten as OSGi bundles for demonstration. The results show the feasibility and the reliability of the proposed platform.

Recently, OSGi has been widely adopted to serve a platform on OBU to enable dynamically installing and composition of software modules in telematics domain. It is imperative to investigate the optimization of OSGi platform especially on devices with limited resources, such as an OBU or a handheld device, to better deliver OSGi services in a timely manner. In this work, we select Apache Felix as the target platform and propose numerous optimization techniques. The experiment result shows that the optimized platform can save 50% in its startup time.

In recent years, the rapid development of the Internet has extended to other services, such as the remote monitoring system. The monitoring system can connect to a remote gateway to control and monitor remote devices. The OSGi gateway is an open platform; the device driver bundle can be downloaded on demand from the service provider and installed on the fly on the OSGi gateway. This paper designs and implements a remote monitoring system (the Fish-Bowl System), as well as an OSGi gateway. The user can use an Android cellular phone to control and monitor remote devices connected to the OSGi gateway. Whenever, new devices are attached to the system, the download and installation processes are performed automatically, which demonstrates the plug-and-play features. The OSGi gateway concerns only the dynamic driver bundle, but not the monitoring system. We then propose the dynamic monitoring system download process, which mitigates the loading of gateway. We also construct the alert and log facilities to help the users.

With the development of home network and service applications, different protocols and transmission modes are proposed. More digital devices and home appliance compliance to the protocols in the development. The proposed protocols are usually unable to communicate with each other; we design and implement a Service-Oriented Smart-Home Architecture to integrate popular protocols such as UPnP, Jini, DPWS on OSGi framework and collaborating Tmote, Zigbee and Bluetooth to converge various service oriented applications. Furthermore, with the well-developed Tmote, Zigbee and Bluetooth technology, majority of devices developed with these technologies supported, we propose the three new base drivers to integrate different devices communication on our platform. Additionally, we propose a Service Resolving Bundle to complement the drawbacks of OSGi mechanisms. This architecture with service-oriented mechanisms accommodates applications implemented across different domains and allows system components to interact with one another.

Nowadays, smart home technology is becoming maturing with the rapid development of information technology. In smart home concept, many operators provide different services, and users download bundles, access services by home gateway. However, the management of bundles and security of services haven’t been respected, so that we still can’t import services which require high-security protection. The prior art is executing OSGi(Open Service Gateway initiative) in home gateway, and download bundle, access services by transmitting plaintext over http. For improving the management of bundles and security of services, this thesis proposes a bundle management system, which manages bundles provided by operators centrally, and constructs the service that downloads bundle by permission according to PKI(Public Key Infrastructure) and digital certificate. On the other hand, this thesis also proposes that operators, bundle management system, and users communicate with web service security. In this way, Integrity, Authenticity, Non-repudiation, Confidentiality will be satisfied. In industry, according to this thesis’ result, we can construct a secure bundle management system and smart home environment, make operators can import home security, medical care , and E-commerce, and open up more new business models. In academic, this thesis discusses web service, and WS-Security, and applies them in bundle management system, so that we can strengthen the relevant security technologies and mechanisms. In the future, we will add more service into bundle management system, research security, so that we can construct a secure, convenient smart home environment.

With the enormous market potential of the telematics industry and accelerated development of information technology, automotive telematics has garnered considerable attention for mobile computing and intelligent transport systems (ITSs). Notably, not all telematics services can be used in telematics terminals as a result of the varied platform standards. The main issues are that most telematics technologies depend on vertical, proprietary and closed per-OEM Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) platforms, forming islands of non-interoperable technology and preventing third-party service providers from creating valuable services. In this study, the Open Gateway Service Initiative Vehicle Expert Group (OSGi/VEG) was integrated into an Android platform to generate a vehicular Android/OSGi platform that has the advantages of both original platforms, such as remote management, rich class sharing, proprietary vehicular applications, security policies, easy management of application programming interface (APIs), and an environment with increased openness. Furthermore, this study integrates the cloud computing mechanism into the Android/OSGi platform, which allows service providers to upload their telematics bundles onto storage clouds via the provisioning server. A management agent in the Android/OSGi platform can synchronously update its service modules of applications using remote storage clouds, and has visual intelligence that can continually change the distinguishing features of applications based on context awareness without user intervention. To assess the feasibility of the proposed Android/OSGi platform, a vehicular testbed was developed to determine the functionalities of telematics applications. The applications over the Android/OSGi platform occupy a smaller amount of memory and system resources than the original Android platform when performing complicated operations. Additionally, the Android/OSGi platform spends less time launching telematics services than the original Android platform. The proposed platform overcomes the problem of the non-responsive exception being generated frequently in the original Android platform.

Nowadays there are lots of different devices available to the householders for them to monitor and maintain their home security. The management over a complicated system of several devices could sometimes be very difficult. There is a need to design a smart home system which allows the user to control sensors, cameras, remote access equipment, and other devices altogether in a simple and easy way, meanwhile provides the user the capability to get the event messages and images anytime and anywhere. Micro controller systems are widely used as the center of home security system, because they are simple, stable, and cost-effective. However, micro controller systems might not be suitable for some applications due to the fact that they’re lack of sufficient integratability and support to special interfaces. This Research instead to use Embedded Linux as the platform, OSGi as the control gateway integrating SLP, SIP and other communication protocols, and hopefully the flexibility of open systems can help us achieve the goal which is to provide a more convenient control system for the home security applications.

The demand and construction of home networks is important in recent years. Due to the lack of the open standard, companies provide their own solutions for home networks.Hence there is the communication issue between different devices and platforms. Such an issue tends to make users inconvenient and may delay the population of the home networks. So an open and standard architecture for users to easy setup and operate is important. OSGi (Open Service Gateway initiative) standard is a solution to the issue. Jini and UPnP are two standard communication protocols with “zero-configuration”and “plug-and-play” capability. These two protocols have their own strong points and drawbacks. This thesis is to design and build-up the communication models between OSGi, Jini and UPnP devices. This is to serve as a basis to further intergrate the various Jini, and UPnP Devices on the OSGi open platfoem to provide services.
