Abstract:
The systematic position and composition of the endemic American subribe Diatrypina stat. nov. (from Diatrypini Desutter, 1988) are discussed. This group is put in the tribe Aphonoidini as one of its two subtribes: Diatrypina and Aphonoidina stat. nov. The genus Prodiatrypa Desutter, 1988, originally included in “Diatrypini”, is transferred to the subtribe Tafaliscina of the tribe Paroecanthini. One new subgenus, 25 new species and four new subspecies are described. Nine species, erroneously included in the genera belonging to some other tribes, are transferred to the genus Diatrypa Saussure, 1874: Paroecanthus exaetos Otte, 2006 (D. exaetos comb. nov.), P. pipizon Otte, 2006 (D. pipizon comb. nov.), P. optivus Otte, 2006 (D. optivus comb. nov.), P. desumptus Otte, 2006 (D. desumptus comb. nov.), P. eudoxos Otte, 2006 (D. eudoxos comb. nov.), Orocharis legnotos Otte, 2006 (D. legnotos comb. nov.), O. apogon Otte, 2006 (D. apogon comb. nov.), O. epipolios Otte, 2006 (D. epipolios comb. nov.), O. tolmeros Otte, 2006 (D. tolmeros comb. nov.).

Abstract:
Niels Bohr, around 1930, when he tried to describe some processes in quantum physics, created the term ‘complementarity’. Bohr believed in the general epistemological and metaphysical significance of this principle. Since then several authors have used this term to capture the essential aspects of the cognitive and epistemological development of scientific and mathematical concepts (Otte and Steinbring, 1977; Kuyk, 1977; Otte, Keitel and Seeger, 1980; Otte, 1984, 1990, 1994; Douady, 1991; Sfard, 1991; Jahnke, 1992). However, what is complementarity? It is an idea or a concept! Being an idea, complementarity finds different expressions within different contexts. Mathematicians do not know what to do with ideas and they want definitions instead. In this article, we discuss different aspects of complementarity trying to clear the matter. Keywords: Mathematics Education. Philosophy of Mathematics. Complementarity. Complementaridade.

Gorochov, A. V., M. K. Tan, and Ch Ya Lee. "Taxonomic notes on the cricket subfamilies Nemobiinae and Trigonidiinae (Orthoptera: Gryllidae) from islands and coasts of the Pacific and Indian Oceans." Zoosystematica Rossica 27, no. 2 (December 17, 2018): 290–321. http://dx.doi.org/10.31610/zsr/2018.27.2.290.

Abstract:
Several taxa of Nemobiinae and Trigonidiinae from some islands and coasts of Pacific Ocean and Andaman Sea (Indian Ocean) are considered. The tribes Marinemobiini Gorochov, 1985 and Burcini Gorochov, 1986 are briefly redescribed, and the tribes Nemobiini Saussure, 1877 and Pteronemobiini Vickery, 1973 are also discussed. Some genera of Marinemobiini (Marinemobius Gorochov, 1985, Apteronemobius Chopard, 1929 and Parapteronemobius Furukawa, 1970) as well as type species of Apteronemobius (A. longipes Chopard, 1929) are redescribed; Marinemobius and Parapteronemobius are restored from synonyms of Apteronemobius and Caconemobius Kirby, 1906, respectively (with the suggestion of three new combinations for the specific names); Eumarinemobius sundaicus gen. et sp. nov. is described from the Malay Peninsula and nearest islands, and former Apteronemobius darwini Otte et Alexander, 1983 is supposedly included in this genus (as E. darwini comb. nov.); Parapteronemobius sazanami kunashir subsp. nov. is described from the Kuril Islands. The tribe Burcini is restored from synonyms of Thetellini Otte et Alexander, 1983, and its following taxa are redescribed or described as new for the science: Burcus Gorochov, 1986 which is also restored from synonyms of Thetella Otte et Alexander, 1983; B. trilobulatus sp. nov. from Thailand; B. t. bunaken subsp. nov. from Indonesia; Paraburcus gen. nov. for Thetella elegans Kobayashi, 1983 (= P. elegans comb. nov.); Neoburcus tarutao gen. et sp. nov. from Thailand. The unavailable tribal name Thetellini is considered as a possible synonym of Nemobiini, and its type genus and species (Thetella and Th. oonoomba Otte et Alexander, 1983 from Australia) as well as some other genera from Pacific islands must be preliminary placed in this tribe, but the genus Caledonina Desutter-Grandcolas, 2016 from New Caledonia probably belongs to Pteronemobiini. Two generic names of Hawaiian Trigonidiinae (Zudella Gorochov, 1988 and Nudilla Gorochov, 1988) are restored from subgenera and synonyms of Trigonidium Rambur, 1838, respectively: the genus Zudella includes numerous Hawaiian species erroneously placed in Trigonidium (they are listed here); the genus Nudilla is here synonymised with Laupala Otte, 1994, syn. nov., and the neotype for Nudilla type species (Trigonidium pacificum Scudder, 1869) is here designated, as well as a new replacement specific name (N. danieli nom. nov.) is here given for the secondary homonym Laupala pacifica Otte, 1994. Also 169 new combinations for specific names in the two latter genera are proposed; T. kolekole Otte, 1994, syn. nov. and L. cerasina Otte, 1994, syn. nov. are synonymised with Z. hawaiiensis Gorochov, 1986 and N. pacifica (Scudder, 1869), respectively.

Abstract:
Originally, the mishnaic tractate Avot ended with the sayings of Ben Bag-Bag (m.Avot 5:22) and Ben He-He. The reading of the saying in 5:22 according to ms.Kaufmann, deviates strongly from the traditional versions. Our study discusses this variant within the parameters of the rabbinic culture of Tora study. The exact translation of the variant reading remains unclear, but it can very well be understood as pointing to the mystical union of man and the Tora. This type of mysticism is related to the concept of the incorporated Tora and serves to strengthen the authority of the teachers involved. The traditional version, on the other hand, is less ambiguous and emphasises the meaning of Tora study for everyone.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Following the occurrence of cracking in various nozzle Dissimilar Metal (DM) butt welds in different PWR plants around the world (VC Summer, Ringhals, Tsugura and more recently Wolf Creek), an integrated approach to develop a material degradation management program was adopted for the Belgian PWR Units. Electrabel, together with Tractebel Engineering and Vinc¸otte have qualified enhanced nondestructive examination procedures and extended in-service inspections. Over the last decade, a very effective monitoring of the potential cracking in the pressurizer nozzles to safe-ends DM welds has been conducted. Electrabel and Tractebel Engineering are now initiating a mitigation process. Within this frame, Westinghouse Electric Company has developed a replacement solution of the pressurizer (PRZ) upper nozzle safe-ends of the 4″ and 6″ lines with implementations at Doel Units 3 & 4 and Tihange Units 2 & 3. This paper outlines the development of the replacement solution. It provides an overview of the replacement process itself. It outlines the comprehensive qualification program developed to achieve approval for implementation.

Abstract:
An otter board is an important device that provides a desired horizontal opening of a trawl net. A high lift coefficient or lift-to-drag ratio is required for an otter board to maintain fishing efficiency. In the present work, the hydrodynamic performance of a circular cambered otter board was studied by numerical simulation, including the effects of aspect ratios (AR), and flow distribution around the otter board. Model tests were conducted in the flume tank as well as a comparison to the numerical results. It showed that simulation results exhibited very good agreement with experiment results. Results demonstrated that the model otter board had a critical angle of attack (AOA) of 50° (when the stall appeared). The maximum lift coefficient and lift-to-drag ratio of the model otter board were 2.421 and 3.719, respectively. However, the maximum values of the full-scale otter board increased first and then decreased with an increasing AR. And the full-scale otter board had a better performance when AR = 2.489, it can enhance the lift coefficient by 17.4% compared with the initial otter board (AR = 1.25). In addition, the flow distribution around the otter board showed that the flow was smooth at small AOAs, when it attacked at large AOA (exceeded 55°), flow separation and eddies were appeared at the lee-side of the otter board.

Abstract:
The use of a novel thermodynamic cycle combined with a high efficiency expander and compressor provides a unique product opportunity for residential, commercial and industrial Combined Cooling, Heating and Power (CCHP) applications. The cycle can be described as a combination between a Stirling Cycle and an Otto Cycle with isothermal compression followed by constant volume heat addition then by isentropic expansion with the final process being heat addition or heat reject in either a constant volume or constant pressure process. The cycle can be run in an open cycle or a closed cycle with the closed cycle providing a more compact device for a given capacity while the open cycle provides an opportunity to get rid of one of the heat exchangers and cool or heat the air directly.
