Abstract:
The role of the environment in the survivability of an animal is paramount and blood profiles are part of the indices for measuring the health status. Therefore, a study was carried out to determine the blood profile of prominent indigenous breed of sheep (Ram) viz: West African Dwarf, Yankasa, Balami and Ouda breeds reared in Ikorodu Local Government. A total of 20 rams were used comprising of five rams per breed, with average age of 2½ years weighing 31.13±4.8 kg. Considering the importance of sheep, economically and in research, it is necessary to explain what normal sheep electrocardiogram values are, and the factors that can cause variations in ECG parameters. We reported that at normal ranges of electrolytes and ECG intervals/durations, with mean weights: Ouda = 41.6 ± 7.2 kg (27.8 – 54.0 kg), Balami = 33.2 ± 6.4 kg (22.2 – 43.5 kg); the ewes showed signif

A total of 21,524 unique results were screened for relevancy to ACEs and OUDs. After excluding unrelated articles, a total of 48 articles were included in this systematic review. Results: Increased frequency of ACEs was directly

Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) has been a long-standing epidemic concern related to the continuous growth of variations of the substance and its’ potency. Due to the versatility of the substance to be both an illicit drug and also a prescription medication, the interest in controlling and monitoring its’ use creates a greater public health concern. Treatment overtime has been revitalized to directly address the social, biological, and physiological difficulties of patients with OUDs. Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) has been explored and has become one of the most widely used plans for treatment

Introduction: Opioid use disorder (OUD) is a chronic relapsing disorder with significant mortality, morbidity, and public health challenges. In India, tramadol is frequently used for the treatment and management of OUDs. Methodology: A prospective observational study was performed to evaluate 3-month outcomes in outpatients with OUD on treatment with tramadol at a tertiary care addiction treatment facility in North India. One hundred and sixty newly registered patients fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria were recruited and assessed on Maudsley Addiction Profile to evaluate changes

Opioid use disorders (OUDs) are diseases of the brain with behavioral, psychological, neurobiological, and medical manifestations. Vulnerability to OUDs can be affected by factors such as genetic background, environment, stress, and prolonged exposure to μ-opioid agonists for analgesia. Two standard-of-care maintenance medications, methadone and buprenorphine-naloxone, have a long-term positive influence on health of persons with opioid addiction. Buprenorphine and another medication, naltrexone, have also been approved for administration as monthly depot injections. However, neither medicatio

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2.4 million individuals have an opioid use disorder (OUD). Yet, nearly 80 percent of them—more than 1.9 million people—do not receive treatment. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT), specifically with buprenorphine, has proven to be effective in treating patients with OUDs while also reducing costs to the healthcare system, criminal justice system, and workforce. Despite its effectiveness, barriers to MAT continue to exist. Consequently, many individuals must wait months, if not years, to receive treatment. This article

Abstract Background Opioid use disorder (OUD) contributes to a heavy burden of disease across the globe, including excessive early mortality and poor quality of life. Methadone and buprenorphine are classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as Essential Medicines as opioid agonist treatment (OAT) of OUD1. Although evidence showed OAT substantially reduces all-cause mortality among people with OUD2, the cost- effectiveness of OAT should be further evaluated. For the evaluation of health utility difference, one optimal measure is health benefit in terms of quality-adjusted life year (QAL

Bluetongue is an infectious, arthropod-borne viral disease principally affecting ruminants. The occurrence of bluetongue virus (BTV) antibodies in sheep and cattle from backyard farms, cattle markets and abattoirs in Ogun and Osun states of Nigeria was investigated. Three hundred and forty (340) plasma samples comprising 205 from sheep and 135 from cattle were collected from March to September 2017, noting the sex, breed and age of the animals. The samples were screened with a commercial enzyme-linked immunosurbent assay (ELISA) kit that detects BTV antibodies in ruminant plasma or serum. All
