Traditional methods of IT recruitment in tertiary institutions need to be reviewed and more modern approaches analysed. A lot of successes and failures have been reported for each type of sourcing strategy in the IT sector. Many organizations have been liquidated due to poorly planned mergers, takeovers, and total outsourcing strategic shifts. The primary objective is to review the current IT sourcing strategies in tertiary institutions and to analyse and discuss the benefits and limitations of employing permanent IT staff, contract workers or outsourced staff.

That's why we're committed to advancing regenerative food systems at scale. The challenge for R&D professionals today is to develop products that deliver great taste, good nutritional value and minimize environmental impact, while still being affordable. Ingredients contribute around 70% of Nestle'™s current in-scope greenhouse gas emissions, so improving our sourcing forms a critical part of our overall net zero strategy. Abstract:
We study how disruptions in international production networks propagate across countries. We use comprehensive data on natural disasters around the globe over the last two decades from the EM-DAT and SHELDUS database to identify exogenous shocks to sourcing foreign inputs. We then trace out the effect of these shocks on activity of multinationals located in the United States. and their network of foreign affiliates using U.S. Bill of Lading microdata and data on domestic and international ownership linkages from Orbis. Our findings indicate that major natural disasters can have an economically

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to analyze the relationship between innovation and employment, in terms of both its quantity and quality, in Uruguay. The effect of product and process innovation on employment growth and on employment composition in terms of skills was studied, using data from manufacturing firms' innovation surveys, matched against economic activity surveys. The impact of different innovation strategies was also analyzed, particularly producing technology vs. sourcing technology externally. The results revealed that product innovation is associated with employment growth. There is (w

I started the research with partial darkening of different parts of the visual fields of humans to register possible psychological and physiological changes. The tested showed dramatically increasing variability and number of changes within just four exact types of darkening. More, emotional and physiological aspects of those changes were polarized into general acceptance and general rejection of a certain type of darkening in most of the individual tests. Thus the teste

Abstract:
We study how disruptions to the supply of foreign critical inputs (FCIs)—inputs primarily sourced from extra-EU countries with highly concentrated supply, advanced technology products or inputs which are key to the green transition —may affect value-added at different levels of aggregation. Using firm-level customs and balance sheet data for Belgium, France, Italy, Slovenia and Spain, our framework allows us to assess how geoeconomic fragmentation may affect European economies differently. Our baseline calibration suggests that a 50% reduction in imports of FCIs from China and other countries

Blaum, Joaquin, Federico Esposito, and Sebastian Heise. Input Sourcing Under Supply Chain Risk: Evidence from U.S. Manufacturing Firms. Federal Reserve Bank of New York, 2025. https://doi.org/10.59576/sr.1141.

Abstract:
We study the effect of climate risk on how firms organize their supply chains. We use transaction-level data on U.S. manufacturing imports to construct a novel measure of input sourcing risk based on the historical volatility of ocean shipping times. Our measure isolates the unexpected component of shipping times that is induced by weather conditions along more than 40,000 maritime routes. We first document that unexpected shipping delays induced by weather shocks have significant negative effects on importers’ revenues, profits, and employment. We then show that more exposed firms actively di

Graham, Gordon. A New Direction for the Mobile Industry: Making the Case for More Open and Transparent Mobile Software. The Linux Foundation, 2023. https://doi.org/10.70828/okuq9347.

Abstract:
Currently, our mobile phone industry is dominated by siloed companies that cause vendor lock-in, inflexible terms, higher costs, and ultimately stunted growth. This negatively impacts consumers, app developers, manufacturers, and regulators. This research report, sponsored by Futurewei and in partnership with numerous open source projects, features interviews from subject matter experts to understand the current state of the mobile industry, the challenges this industry faces, and how these challenges could be addressed by open sourcing the mobile technology stack. Critical to this shift are o

Harris, Jeremy, Olivier Cadot, Alejandro Graziano, and Christian Volpe Martincus. Do Rules of Origin Constrain Export Growth? Firm-Level Evidence from Colombia. Inter-American Development Bank, 2014. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0006987.

Full text
Abstract:
This paper estimates empirically the effect of preference utilization on export growth at the level of the firm using a unique transaction-level dataset of Colombia's imports from Argentina, Peru and Uruguay over 2000-2011, a period during which Colombia granted improved market access to Argentina and Uruguay. We show that preference utilization induces sorting among exporters on the basis of size and intermediates sourcing. We also show that preference utilization correlates strongly with export growth after controlling for firm-specific, time-variant unobservables through a powerful array of

Full text
Abstract:
With the proliferation of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) over the past decade, demand for quantitative analysis of their likely impacts has surged. The main quantitative tool for performing such analysis is Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modeling. Yet these models have been widely criticized for performing poorly (Kehoe, 2002) and having weak econometric foundations (McKitrick, 1998; Jorgenson, 1984). FTA results have been shown to be particularly sensitive to the trade elasticities, with small trade elasticities generating large terms of trade effects and relatively modest efficiency gain

Joint Expert Group on Food Contact Materials Interim Position Paper on ocean bound plastic. Food Standards Agency, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.46756/sci.fsa.kdy447.

Abstract:
The FSA and FSS have become aware of the use of recycled plastic food contact applications that are in part, or fully, fulfilled using so called “ocean-bound” plastic. As this term has been observed to be a relatively new concept in food contact applications a full review of whether plastic material sourced from the open environment (ocean, ocean-bound, land) can be utilised in food packaging, either directly or behind a functional barrier, is currently being undertaken by the FSA. As part of its full review, the FSA and FSS invites submissions from industry, the individuals as consumers, or i
