Special education for the behaviorally disordered is characterized as at an adolescent stage of development. Seven characteristics of adolescence are discussed as they apply to special education: (a) overestimation of abilities and importance, (b) underestimation of needs, (c) misinterpretation of parents “withitness”. (d) lack of tolerance for ambiguity, (e) uncertain identity, (f) residual belief in magic and regret about loss of innocence, and (g) impulsivity and the desire for immediate gratification. Focusing on the potential emergence of overconfidence bias when predicting their own exam scores, we examined how the Dunning-Kruger effect interacts with an inherent trait-gender, and the illusion of competence based on the type of science exams (multiple-choice/shortanswer questions) as observed in prior research. The objective is to collectively ascertain whether such gender- based distinctions exist.

Consistent with prior research on the Lake Wobegon Effect, participants overestimated their gun-related competencies. Conservatives, ma

Self-assessment is sometimes used to assess second language (L2) skills, but it has a degree of error that is possibly caused by L2 learners themselves, resulting from their L2 proficiency level and psychological traits. This study, involving 196 Japanese university students, calculated the self-assessment bias of L2 speakers using many-facet Rasch measurement. Correlation analysis explored the relationship between self-assessment bias and L2 speaking proficiency with psychological traits including self-esteem, English speaking anxiety, and English speaking motivation. Crushing and grinding of carbonaceous shale samples is likely to enhance the accessibility of pores and embedded organic matter as compared to the intact rock. This may lead to an overestimation of the total (volume and sorptive) gas storage capacity. In order to investigate the importance of these effects we have measured unconfined apparent grain densities (helium pycnometry) and methane sorption capacities (high-pressure methane excess sorption) of four carbonaceous shales (Cambro-Ordovician Alum Shale, Jurassic Kimmeridge Clay, Jurassic/Cretaceous Bazhenov Shale, and Late Cretaceous Eagle

This study investigated the work-related skills awareness levels of high school students with disabilities by comparing expert ratings and student self-report ratings. This issue is considered important because (a) evidence indicates that lack of awareness is associated with poor employment outcomes and (b) young persons with disabilities are known to experience employment difficulties. Substantial deficits in awareness were found, with the majority of students overestimating their abilities, as hypothesized. In addition, students perceived by adult raters as having greater employability asset

The phenomenon of self-inflation, characterized by individuals overestimating their abilities and accomplishments, has been observed throughout history and is influenced by various factors. This article explores the underlying reasons for unrealistic self-evaluation, focusing on the impact of socialization, culture, and social media. The formation of self is shaped by feedback and validation received from social relationships, which can lead individuals to overestimate themselves to cope with feelings of inadequacy. Cultural values and norms also play a role, with individualistic cultures prom

However, empirical research on its effect on academic writing remains limited. This study investigated metacognitive awareness among 167 Indonesian university students enrolled in an academic writing class, focusing on two self-assessment patterns: superficial (overestimating abilities) and hypercritical (underestimating abilities). In India, health-care professionals, particularly occupational therapists, increasingly utilize the motor-free VP test-4 (MVPT-4), a test originally standardized among Western populations, to identify VP difficulties in children.
