A paleomagnetic study of mafic plutonic rocks in the northeast Grenville Province found five magnetizations, interpreted as Grenvillian and later overprints. Components A, B, and C, with the highest unblocking temperatures and distinct regional distributions, have paleopoles that appear to lie on the Grenville Track. Component C, with pole at 348°E, 11°S (δp, δm = 2°, 4°) and mostly distributed in lower-grade mafic rocks in the Groswater Bay terrane near the Grenville Front, is interpreted as a post ca. 970 Ma Grenville overprint, predating components A and B. The rift-related Rapitan Group of the Mackenzie Mountains of northwestern Canada acquired several magnetizations due to pulses of hydrothermal activity. The first pulse, attributed to initiation of Rapitan rifting, produced a widespread overprint (P2) that may be reflected in the basal Mount Berg Formation. Two later pulses produced overprints similar to components found in an earlier study. Development of iron formation and hematite pigment in the overlying Sayunei Formation is attributed to the second pulse, represented by a paleopole (N = 10 sites; 334°E, 01°S; δp, δm = 4°, 9°) that coincid

There are some problems with traditional mark replacement and accurate detection of overprint deviation, this paper presents a new method which can detect the parameter of the no mark overprint. The method is based on the basis of mathematical morphology to determine the sign of the multi-structural elements and multi-scale morphological edge, by using detection algorithm to extract image edge; and then the image edge was fitted by using least square fitting algorithm, so the sub-pixel center coordinates of the overprint mark can be obtained; Finally, accurate data of the overprint deviation c

Clasts in conglomerates within the Dalradian sequence that are deformed by the shear zones preserve evidence for a constrictional overprint of earlier plane strain as the fold became curvilinear, while stretched clasts maintained a constant orientation as the hinge curvilinearity developed. The island of Naxos, which lies in the central-southern Aegean Sea, is part of the Attic Cycladic Massif. This, a group of islands, containing metamorphic complexes polymetamorphosed during the Tertiary, forms an arcuate belt between mainland Greece and Turkey. The present-day tectonic setting of this area is one of convergence between Africa and Europe, via a subduction zone situated to the south of the Attic Cycladic Massif. The back-arc region of this subduction zone is undergoing present-day extension. This study investigates the nature of Barrovian metamorphism on Naxos, and its relations

Apatite occurs as an accessory phase throughout the Sudbury Igneous Complex (SIC), Ontario, as well as in the overlying tuffaceous rocks of the Onaping Formation (OF). Apatite is found primarily as a post-cumulus (or intergranular) phase, but becomes a cumulus mineral in the quartz gabbro.
