Abstract On the basis of floristic surveys, examination of herbarium specimens and review of literature, notes on the taxonomy, morphology, and ecological features are given of Oxybasis chenopodioides and morphologically fairly similar Oxybasis rubra. Their distributions in Italy according to Provinces are discussed and mapped.

Background and aims – The indigenous representatives of Chenopodiaceae in tropical Africa are still insufficiently studied. Some genera, especially Atriplex L., Oxybasis Kar. & Kir. and Dysphania R.Br. (subfam. Chenopodioideae), are difficult to diagnose and are often confused with other native or alien taxa. Methods – The morphological characters of Atriplex, Oxybasis and Dysphania were reviewed using specimens from the herbaria B, BM, BR, BRLU, E, G, K, LE, MHA, MW, P, and W.Key results – A new species Atriplex congolensis Suk

Abstract:
In this paper, based on fieldwork and herbaria surveys, new data concerning the presence of 32 native and alien vascular species for Sicily (Italy) are provided. Among the native species, the occurrence of the following taxa is reported for the first time or confirmed after many decades of non-observation: Aira multiculmis, Arum maculatum, Carex flacca subsp. flacca, Mentha longifolia, Oxybasis chenopodioides, Najas minor and Xiphion junceum. Furthermore, we document the presence of three native species (Cornus mas, Juncus foliosus and Limonium avei) that, despite being repeatedly observed in

Two new combinations are proposed in Oxybasis (Chenopodioideae, Chenopodiaceae or Amaranthaceae s.l.). Chenopodium micranthum, described from Russia in the 1860s and known as C. urbicum subsp. sinicum in China, is assigned specific rank in Oxybasis. It appears to be widespread in China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Asiatic Russia. The Siberian-Mongolian C. gubanovii, recently described as a new species in Chenopodium sect. Pseudoblitum, is also assigned to Oxybasis. Molecular phylogenetic analysis using maximum likelihood (ML) and maximum parsimony (MP) methods confirmed the placement of C. micran

However, key taxa such as C. antarcticum, C. exsuccum, C. litwinowii, C. foliosum subsp. montanum and Monolepis spathulata were not included and so their phylogenetic position within the Chenopodioideae remained equivocal.
