Abstract:
The increasing use of Peer to Peer (P2P) applications, usually ruled by selfish behaviors, is posing new challengesto the research community. As contributions of this work we firstly devise a general framework underpinning the development of highly reconfigurable P2P trackers. Following that, a novel tracker architecture is proposed and several illustrative and enhanced tracker configurations are described. As result, the devised solution turns possible that flexible, programmable and adaptive peer selection mechanisms can be introduced at the P2P application level. The proposed solution assumes

P2P networks have caught the imagination of the research community and application developers with their sheer scalability and fault-tolerance characteristics. However, only content-sharing applications based on the P2P concept have reached the desired level of maturity. The potential of the P2P concept for designing the next-generation of real-world distributed applications can be realized only if a comprehensive framework quantifying the performance related aspects of all classes of P2P applications is available. In the evolution of emerging botnets, peer-to-peer (P2P) botnets are more dangerous and resistant because of their distributed characteristics. Among them, unstructured P2P botnets use custom protocols for communication, which can be integrated with legitimate P2P traffic. Moreover, their topological structure is more complex, and a complete topology cannot be obtained easily, making them more concealed and difficult to detect. The

By using mapping rules, as soon as it enters the system, a peer can participate and access all data available in its neighborhood, and through its neighborhood it becomes accessible to all the other peers in the system. If many peers request a video after it is released, the small set of peers with the video cached may not have enough bandwidth to satisfy all requests. This situation is known as a flash crowd. This thesis discusses the implementation of function optimization algorithms through distributed and decentralized processing in a peer-to-peer fashion. Our research is focused on a fully decentralized, general purpose P2P environment, with no special or ad-hoc facility for executing optimization tasks. Relevant information is exchanged among nodes by means of epidemic protocols, exploiting the overlay network topology formed by peers. A key issue in such a context is the relationship between the solution quality and the amount/kind of exchanged information among the various running instances.
