Abstract:
Abstract The immune system is replenished by self-renewing hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) that produce multipotent progenitors (MPPs) with little renewal capacity. E-proteins, the widely expressed basic helix-loop-helix transcription factors, contribute to HSC and MPP activity, but their specific functions remain undefined. Using quantitative in vivo and in vitro approaches, we show that E47 is dispensable for the short-term myeloid differentiation of HSCs but regulates their long-term capabilities. E47-deficient progenitors show competent myeloid production in short-term assays in vitro and

Abstract:
The nested variant of urothelial carcinoma (NVUC) is characterized by the presence of benign-appearing urothelial carcinoma cells in the lamina propria, sparing the surface urothelial involvement. NVUC shows aggressive clinical course despite of benign-looking histology. Herein reported are two cases of NVUC. One is 80-year-old woman, and another is 78-year-old man. In both cases, atypical cells forming nests and tubules were seen in the lamina propria without surface urothelial involvement. One case resembled nephrogenic metaplasia and another proliferated Brunn's nest or inverted papilloma.

Abstract:
We report a rare synchronous presentation of adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) and papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). A 31-year-old male first presented with a large left adrenal mass that was identified during the workup for refractory hypertension due to hyperaldosteronism. The mass was removed surgically with pathology showing ACC. The patient was then treated with adjuvant radiation therapy and mitotane chemotherapy. Four months post ACC resection, metastatic ACC to the right upper lung and PTC in the left lobe of the thyroid were found in surveillance imaging. He subsequently developed pulmo

Abstract Background RNaseH2 plays a critical role in removing mis-bounded RNA from the DNA double strand helix1. Absence of RNaseH2 results in spontaneous double-stranded DNA breaks and cytosolic release of dsDNA2. We have previously shown that epithelial deficiency of RNaseH2b (H2bΔIEC) leads to a p53-dependent stem cell suppression and additional deficiency of p53 results in spontaneous intestinal carcinogenesis3. Due to the central role of cGAS/STING in sensing dsDNA, we aim to investigate the role of epithelial STING in a mouse model of chronic epithelial DNA damage and tumor prevention in

Abstract Abstract 4198 LMO2 is a lim-only domain transcription factor that mediates protein-protein interactions in a multimeric complex containing LDB1, E47, Tal1 and either GATA1 or GATA2. It was discovered as a result of chromosomal translocations in T-cell leukemia; where it becomes abnormally regulated by T-cell receptor elements and is involved in approximately 9% of cases. LMO2 transgenic mice develop T-cell leukemia with a latency of between 10–12 months indicating that other co-operating genetic events are required. In recent X-SCID gene therapy trials 4 patients developed T-cell leuk

Abstract:
This thesis analyses the films of Pedro Almod{u00F3}var to identify what they express about time, history and memory. It situates Almod{u00F3}var's films in their historical and cultural context in order to detect traces of and breaks with the past within the films. It identifies a trajectory in Almod{u00F3}var's attitude towards the past: from disinterest and disavowal of the relevance of history in his earliest films that encapsulate the spirit of the movida, to a growing preoccupation with time and memory in the films from Live Flesh onwards. The thesis demonstrates that this trajectory r
