Abstract:
The term caló is well-known within many Mexican American communities as a bilingual slang that is one of several speech styles in the community repertoire, closely associated with Pachuco groups of the U.S. Southwest that came to prominence in the 1940's. But the term caló predates its introduction to the U.S. by many decades. With roots in a Romany-based germanio of the 16th century, from the speech of immigrant gypsies evolved a new Spanish-based argot, the result of language shift from Romany to Spanish over centuries. By the 19th century, caló referred to a Spanish-based criminal argot called “caló jergal” by a contemporaneous Spanish researcher (Salillas 1896), a mixed code of gypsy Romany and Peninsular Spanish which was used by members of that group as an in-group, secret speech style.

Abstract:
This is the second of two articles dealing with the epistemology of the analysis of Spanish in the Southwest of the United States of America. The content of this part is basically linguistic, with social implications, and mostly synchronic. The historical references, however, are never set aside. In the first place, it is important to make a distinction between the real melting languages and theoretical misinterpretations. English and Spanish are combined with social and literary implications in the diverse slang forms of the area: pachuco, caló, among others. Spurious interests, however, have given force to fantastic hypotheses brought to a climax by the invention of an allegedly “new” language, called Spanglish. This lexical choice is unfortunate, because it takes advantage of the existence of a more innocuous use of the word, simply referring to all forms of contact between the two languages. Four aspects are therefore mixed up and mistaken: the invention of an allegedly “new” language, in spite of a total lack of unification; the constant code-switching with different modalities and extent; the bad quality of certain translations; and the cultural relegation of Hispanics to speakers of a ghetto language. The set of two articles ends with a graphical presentation of a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats). The conclusion refers to Judeo-Spanish and the dangers of ghetto languages, as well as to the role of education.

<p>La investigación en nanociencias y nanotecnología (NyN) en la Universidad Politécnica de Pachuca surge con un grupo multidisciplinario de profesores investigadores que posteriormente fue reconocido como Cuerpo Académico (CA) de Nanotecnología, nuevos materiales y sistemas para la salud, industria y energías alternas.</p><p>El CA realiza sus actividades de investigación en el Laboratorio de Nanotecnología, sistemas Biológicos y Aplicaciones industriales (LaNBA), pionero en el estado de Hidalgo desde 2006. Las dos líneas de investigación que se desarrollan comprenden proyectos originales relacionados con el diseño, síntesis, caracterización y aplicación de nanomateriales para las áreas en las que el grupo se enfoca. Durante los cinco años de haber sido reconocido como CA <em>en consolidación</em>, el LaNBA se ha provisto de equipo básico para la caracterización de los nanomateriales producidos mediante métodos químicos, biosíntesis avanzadas puestas a punto en el grupo, así como materiales nanoestructurados obtenidos por métodos físicos para aplicación en energías.</p><p>Una característica distintiva del grupo es la vocación por desarrollar proyectos que integran diferentes especialidades que permiten obtener dispositivos que cubran necesidades tecnológicas específicas.</p>

Synallaxis whitneyi Pacheco and Gonzaga, 1995, was described from specimens collected in Bahia, Brazil. Some years later, following analysis of the specimens used by Wied (1831) to describe Synallaxis cinereus, Whitney and Pacheco (2001) considered S. whitneyi a junior synonym of S. cinereus because three of the specimens in Wied’s series were identical to those collected in Bahia by Pacheco and Gonzaga (1995). They also designated a lectotype for Synallaxis cinereus. Our analysis of the description of Synallaxis cinereus reveals that Wied was merely providing a new name for Parulus ruficeps Spix, 1824, to avoid problems of homonymy (Wied 1831). The International Code of Zoological Nomenclature is explicit in such cases, stating that if an author proposes a new species-group name as a replacement (nomen novum) for an earlier available one, then the two names are objective synonyms and have the same name-bearing type. Thus, the syntypes of S. cinereus are the specimens previously used by Spix in describing Parulus ruficeps and not those used by Wied (1831) in his description (and subsequently referred to as syntypes in the literature). The lectotype of Synallaxis cinereus proposed by Whitney and Pacheco (2001) is invalid, as it is not a former syntype. Therefore, the correct name for the Bahia Spinetail is Synallaxis whitneyi Pacheco and Gonzaga, 1995.

Abstract:
En la historia de la recepción de Samuel Beckett en los países de habla no inglesa, la primera traducción de Comment c’est (1961) al castellano, realizada por José Emilio Pacheco en 1966 (Cómo es), aparece como un hito aislado y deslumbrante. Esta traducción a partir del texto original en francés, hecha por el poeta mexicano cuando tenía 27 años, no tuvo una repercusión notable en su momento, a pesar de la audacia de la empresa y de la brillantez de la traducción. Sin embargo, a raíz de la trayectoria de Pacheco como crítico, traductor y poeta de primera magnitud, se considera necesario hacer una evaluación en profundidad de este texto único. El objetivo de este artículo es el de analizar la versión de Pacheco del texto beckettiano por medio de un acercamiento al contexto histórico y a los elementos propios de su bagaje cultural que el poeta aporta a la elaboración de su traducción. Se trata, en definitiva, de explicar cómo se lee a Beckett en español por medio de Pacheco.

El objetivo de este artículo es demostrar que parte del legado de José Emilio Pacheco en la poesía mexicana reciente consiste en diversas estrategias discursivas (dicción espuria, cuestionamiento de la autoridad textual, subjetividad descentrada, entre otros) en concordancia con un país continuamente en crisis. Es decir, en la poesía de Pacheco se puede ya ubicar un código de lectura y una política de escritura que convierte el texto en un espacio de reflexión y de resistencia. Mi propuesta en este ensayo, en definitiva, es que el sistema poético de la última lírica mexicana responde a los retos políticos y sociales inmediatos del país en un entorno global y transnacional, rasgos que se pueden ubicar avant la lettre en la visionaria obra de José Emilio Pacheco.

Partiendo del análisis de una serie de citas tomadas de la Crónica de Enrique IV de fray Jerónimo de la Cruz (BNE, Mss. 1776), este artículo dará a conocer una serie de fuentes que justifican por qué motivos los primeros marqueses de Villena –Juan Pacheco y Diego López Pacheco– eran considerados privados por sus contemporáneos y validos por autores del siglo XVII. Al mismo tiempo, este estudio también analizará las acciones de los Pacheco con el objetivo de desvelar las tácticas tanto prácticas como simbólicas que usaron para controlar la política castellana. Se prestará especial atención a las enseñanzas que tomaron del pasado, tanto de su propio linaje como de los sucesos más recientes a los que asistieron personalmente durante su juventud.

José Emilio Pacheco (1939-2014) devoted part of his essay production to reconstruct the past of letters and, in particular, was interested in the Modernist movement. From two anthological texts: Anthology of Modernism [1884-1921] (1970) and Modernist Poetry. A General Anthology (1982), and a selection of journalistic notes that he published in the Mexican magazine Proceso, Pacheco aimed at broadening the spectrum of Modernist figures and avoiding to keep to a single figure, such as that of the Nicaraguan Rubén Darío. This article reconstructs the dialogues and reciprocities that José Emilio Pacheco traces with the literary tradition of Modernism and that are sustained, on the one hand, in connections between poets, as it is the case of Manuel Gutiérrez Nájera and José Martí and, on the other hand, in the recovering of poets less well-known by literary criticism, such as Salvador Díaz Mirón.

Abstract:
El municipio de Torre Pacheco ha conocido una significativa evolución en las últimas décadas, tanto desde el punto de vista territorial como socioeconómico. El principal objetivo de esta aportación es comprobar qué tipo de actuaciones han contribuido a modificar la tendencia de declive que compartía con otros espacios rurales. Junto al estudio de caso, se ha recurrido a una metodología no experimental, exploratoria y descriptiva de tipo cualitativo, sin renunciar al soporte de las estadísticas necesarias que cuantifiquen y apoyen determinados aspectos. Los resultados obtenidos ponen de relieve los beneficios alcanzados en Torre Pacheco mediante el incremento de su disponibilidad hídrica, a partir de la aplicación de estrategias de planificación llevadas a cabo con un horizonte temporal de largo plazo.Abstract The municipality of Torre Pacheco has undergone a significant evolution in recent decades, both from the territorial and socioeconomic point of view. The main objective of this contribution is to verify what type of actions has contributed to modifying the trend of decline that it shared with other rural areas.Along with the case study, a non-experimental, exploratory and descriptive methodology of a qualitative type has been used, without renouncing the support of the necessary statistics that quantify and support certain aspects. The results obtained highlight the benefits achieved in Torre Pacheco by increasing its water availability, through the application of planning strategies carried out with a long-term time horizon.

Abstract:
As macroalgas são seres importantes em seus habitats, pois possuem grande relevância ecológica, uma vez que, nos ecossistemas aquáticos, são fonte de nutrientes e os principais organismos fotossintetizantes. A Praia do Pacheco em Caucaia, município da região metropolitana de Fortaleza-CE, compõe a planície litorânea do nordeste brasileiro. Nesta região, é comum que as macroalgas que se desprenderam de seu substrato se acumulem durante a maré baixa, denominadas de algas arribadas. Esse trabalho objetivou identificar a comunidade de algas arribadas da Praia do Pacheco, avaliando seu potencial nutricional para a formulação de fertilizante para plantas. Nessa perspectiva, foram realizadas duas coletas manuais durante a maré baixa. Uma em abril de 2017 e a outra em outubro de 2018. As amostras foram identificadas e, posteriormente, três das espécies de maior incidência foram analisadas em termos de macro e micronutrientes. Foram encontrados dezoito táxons, sendo: quatorze algas vermelhas, duas algas verdes e duas algas pardas. As espécies encontradas em maior quantidade foram a Hypnea pseudomusciformis, Gracilaria cearensis e Ulva fasciata. Quando analisadas, observou-se que possuem altos níveis de nutrientes com potencial para fins agrícolas. A região estudada apresentou-se como um ambiente rico em macroalgas e em biomassa que devem ser utilizada de forma consciente para garantir sua sustentabilidade.
