The potential haematological and haemostatic effects associated with periodontitis and cavities diseases were investigated in the subjects. Blood sample was collected from the sick subjects and used in investigations. Results showed that periodontitis disease decreased haemoglobin concentration, packed cell volume, platelet count, increased white blood cell count (WBC), Neutrophils percentage but has no significant effect on the haemostatic parameters viz bleeding time, prothrombin time, partial thromboplastin time kaolin. The decrease in haemoglobin concentration and packed cell volume for a

Our efforts were directed at finding a precise and economic method for PCV determination. There by, we designed a simple device consisting of a digital camera that is connected to a computer whi

Of 17 variables examined, 2 were found to have good predictive correlation. Serum lactate and packed cell volume had a combined predictive value of 94%. Packed cell volume mean values of 43 and 50%, respectively, differentiated survival from death. Serum lactate values of 28.18 mg/dl and 51.28 mg/dl differentiated survival and death. Examination of morphometric characteristics and blood parameters has become a widely used tool for assessing the physiological and nutritional status of wild and captive animals. During 1976 through 1984, 155 Gray Wolves (Canis lupus) were chemically immobilized in south-central Alaska. Of those, we obtained physical measurements from 132 and blood samples from 121 individuals. Also, 208 carcasses of harvested and dead radiocollared Wolves were weighed and measured. We obtained blood samples from three of the fresh carcasses. We measured age, body weight, skull length and width, and upper and

The haematology of a colony of wild allied rock-wallabies, Petrogale assimilis Ramsay, 1877, from north-western Queensland was studied for 20 months. Wallabies were repeatedly trapped at monthly intervals and 511 blood samples from 96 animals were examined, making this the most comprehensive study of the haematology of any macropod species. The morphology of the red blood cells and leucocytes was similar to those of other marsupials. Large and small lymphocytes were recognised. Binucleate lymphocytes were found in 7.2% of blood smears. Normal haematological values were within the published ran
