Abstract:
In November 2017, on the eve of his career's biggest release, Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was in hiding under police protection. His magnum opus Padmaavat, originally scheduled to be released across the world on December 1, was postponed indefinitely. The film's lead actress, Deepika Padukone, had a bounty placed on her head. Posters of the film were already burning across India as the country's censor board dissected the film for inflaming “cultural sensitivities.” The furor centered on Bhansali's portrayal of a mythical fourteenth-century Hindu queen named Padmavati, lionized for burning herself alive in the face of a Muslim invasion. Karni Sena, a right-wing Hindu nationalist group, claimed that the (unseen) film showed their revered queen dancing and romancing the film's Muslim villain. The allegation was enough to spark calls for the film to be banned. Violent protesters, political opportunists, and cable news personalities followed suit. Could the increasingly violent threats from Hindu nationalists succeed in silencing Bhansali's life's work? Qureshi discusses how once the film was released and the Karni Sena withdrew its protests about the film, his own struggles with it began.

Abstract:
In Hindi literature, 'Padmavat' is Daidipyaman Nakshatra. Jayasi created this epic in the 16th century in the typical Awadhi language. The sweetness, emotional beauty, Sufi spirituality and historicity of its language is not seen. The poet has created this epic with the sum of folk, imagination and history. Jayasi has created the 'Padmavat' by combining the legend of Jauhar of Padmini, the queen of Choudaur, in the legend of the popular queen and Sugge of Awadh province. This epic is a mirror of medieval India. It shows the social, cultural, political and historical splendor of erstwhile Indian society. Various scholars of Hindi literature have examined the historicity of 'Padmavat' in their own way. It is possible to test its historicity with important historical sources such as archaeological remains, inscriptions, contemporary literary texts and history books. Before examining the historicity of this work, it is mandatory to get information about the history of its creator.

Abstract:
PURPOSE: Children with Learning disabilities require exceptional attention from family, their social circle and teachers. Because moral support and learning are initiated in the school environment by teachers (Padmavathi & Lalitha, 2009), the aim of this study is to evaluate primary school teachers’ knowledge about special learning disabilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. MATERIAL & METHOD: A sample of 902 primary private and puplic school teachers from 78 schools across different regions of Saudi Arabia was selected using a convenience sampling technique. Teachers’ knowledge about learning disabilities was surveyed electronically using a structured knowledge 40-item questionnaire on learning disabilities. A descriptive and quantitative approach was used to assess their knowledge. SPSS v21 was used to analyze the data. RESULTS: The study found that a majority of primary school teachers have average knowledge about specific learning disabilities. Consequently, teachers’ range of knowledge has statistically significant impact on their level of knowledge. The study correspondingly shows a significant relationship between levels of knowledge and socio-demographic variables, but no statistically significant difference in the knowledge level of male and female teachers regarding learning disabilities. CONCLUSION: Teachers do not have adequate knowledge regarding learning disabilities, and do not know what should be done when facing such issue. Teachers’ knowledge about learning disabilities is insuficient, because their academic training did not include any courses about it. As a consequence, education lawmakers should arrange appropriate teacher training or structured learning programs regarding learning disability concepts, assessment, diagnosis and identification for such teachers.

Abstract:
Abstract BACKGROUND. Chronic rhinitis is a clinical condition affecting more than 20% of the world population. The standard treatment strategy is medical. Surgical management can be considered in patients with intractable rhinitis. Various surgical techniques have been documented with varying success rates, but none of them is considered as a gold standard. Hence, we are studying the effectiveness of posterior nasal neurectomy (PNN) in patients who have intractable rhinitis, refractory to maximum medical therapy. MATERIAL AND METHODS. A prospective study was conducted in the ENT Department, Padmavathy Medical Foundation, Kollam, Kerala, India, from January 2015 to February 2016. Adult patients, in the age group of 20 to 60 years, diagnosed with chronic rhinitis, presenting two or more symptoms of rhinitis, refractory to maximum medical therapy for a period of at least 3 or more years and whose quality of life was significantly affected were enrolled and PNN was done for them. RESULTS. We observed a statistically significant improvement in subjective symptoms and patient quality of life at the end of 6 months post-operatively. CONCLUSION. PNN is a safe and less invasive procedure, which can provide a significant relief in symptoms of intractable rhinitis. Fewer complications and better results make it superior over vidian neurectomy.

Abstract:
Anbarashan M, Padmavathy A, Alexandar R. 2017. Short Communication: Survival and growth of mono and mixed species plantations on the Coromandel coast of India. Asian J For 1: 70-76. There exists very little information on the growth of autochthonous tree species autochthonousin the tropics and on the experiences in conducting mono and mixed species plantations. The aim of this study was to compare the variation in growth parameter between the mixed species plantation and mono species plantation. The growth, survival, and height of 82 autochthonous mixed species plantations were compared with Casuarina equisetifolia, an exotic species broadly planted in this region after over a decade (2006 to 2016). In the mixed species plantation, seven species showed 100 % survival rate and 19 species were not survived after 10-year intervals. In the mono species plantation, Casuarina equisetifolia had 92 % of the survival rate. When it is compared to the mono plantation, the growth rate of mixed species plantation showed highly significant differences (P < 0: 05) values. Simple linear regression between annual girth increment and height produced very strong positive relations (R2 0.759). Plantations of Casuarina equisetifolia seem to be well adapted to the coastal region. On the other hand, mixed plantation with autochthonous species would contribute more to sustainable management because they provide a greater range of ecological goods and ecosystem services than the single species plantations.

Abstract:
Nowadays, with the worldwide, increasing demands of the high qualitative gasoline, it is necessary to establish new naphtha reforming units and develop the traditional units to the high efficiency processes. In this work, according to the recent progresses in naphtha reforming technology, a mathematical modeling of a continuous catalytic reformer with catalyst recirculation is developed for simulation and optimization of the new industrial continuous reformers. The process model uses an extended version of the kinetic model reported by Padmavathi, with some modifications on kinetic constants, and it considers the deactivation rate of the catalyst and pressure drop within the reactor. The process model is based on a 12-lumped kinetics reaction network and has been proved to be quite effective in terms of an industrial application. The naphtha is based on 25-lumped pseudocomponents (including C6 to C10 hydrocarbons) in three categories of n-paraffins, isoparaffins, naphthens, including cyclopentanes and cyclohexanes, and aromatics. The light hydrocarbons product, consisting of C1 to C5 n-paraffins, is taken into account as the products of hydrocracking reaction. First, the kinetic parameters of the reactions are tuned using real results of the outlet temperatures and components in industrial operating conditions. At the next stage, validation of the model was carried out using a new naphtha feed in industrial scale. The final stage of this research was based on splitting a naphtha feed using its only ASTM boiling point and specific gravity, to converting to the components and applying into the process model to predict the outlet temperature and composition, the reformate yield and RON, hydrogen and LPG product, and coke formation at each cycle. The predicted and commercially reported results agreed with each other.

Abstract:
Objectives: The objectives of the study were to assess clinical profile (age of onset, age of presentation, gender, site of involvement, severity (stage), type of vitiligo, triggering factors, and associated diseases), prescription patterns (monotherapy, combination therapy, oral, topical, and therapeutic categories of drugs prescribed) and to monitor and report adverse drug reactions (based on World Health Organization [WHO] causality assessment scale) in vitiligo patients. Methods: A hospital-based prospective observational study was carried out by evaluating and assessing the clinical profile and prescription patterns of 85 patients who attended dermatology venereology and leprosy (DVL) outpatient department at Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women, SVIMS, Tirupati, over a period of 6 months from June 2019 to December 2019. Results: In our study, forty four (51.77%) patients were female, vitiligo vulgaris is the most common morphological type observed in twenty seven (31.76%) patients. 31–50 years was the predominant age group. The mean age of onset and presentation was 38.35 (standard deviation of 18.37) and 43.27 (standard deviation of 17.96) years, respectively. Forty-one (48.23%) patients were having Stage 1 vitiligo. Fifty (58.85%) patients were having vitiligo at more than 1 site. Twelve (14.11%) patients were having a positive family history of vitiligo. Thirty-seven (43.53%) patients had triggering factors. Associated diseases were found in thirty (35%) patients. Combination therapy was given to sixty one (71.77%) patients. Topical medications were given to fifty two (61.18%) patients. During the study, we did not have a single patient complaining of any adverse drug reaction. Conclusion: Longer the time after appearance of vitiligo, lesser the number of patients attending follow-up. If vitiligo is diagnosed at the earliest stage, more are the chances for complete repigmentation. Patients with a poor economic background are less bothered about their skin condition and are not using medications properly.

Abstract:
Aims: The purpose of the present study was targeted to explore the possible role of thymol against global cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury in albino rats. Study Design: Healthy Albino Wistar rats (200–250 gm) were divided randomly into 5 groups (n=6). Group I and II were considered as normal control and sham control, received 2% tween 80 orally, group III was ischemic- reperfusion (disease control) and received 2% tween 80 orally and Group IV and V received thymol at doses of 50 mg/kg, per oral and 100 mg/kg, per oral. respectively. Place and Duration of Study: Department of Pharmacology, Sri Padmavathi School of pharmacy, Tiruchanur, Tirupati in between Sept 2019 to March 2020. Methodology: Group I and II were considered as normal control and sham control, received 2% tween 80 orally, group III was ischemic- reperfusion (disease control) and received 2% tween 80 orally and Group IV and V received thymol at doses of 50 mg/kg, per oral (p.o) and 100 mg/kg, per oral (p.o). respectively. After pretreatment with thymol for 2 weeks, rats were subjected to bilateral common carotid artery occlusion for 1 hour accompanied by 22 hours reperfusion (I/R). After 22 hrs of reperfusion, motor coordination, hanging wire test, despair swim tests were studied. Antioxidant levels of reduced glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and pro-oxidant level of Malondialdehyde (MDA) were analyzed in brain tissue homogenate. Changes in cerebral infarct size and histopathology were studied. Results: Pretreated groups of thymol (50 and 100 mg/kg p.o) showed significant improvement in neurobehavioral changes and attenuated oxidative damage as indicated by reduced LPO, restored GSH, SOD and CAT levels and decreased infract size when compared to ischemic reperfusion group. Conclusion: This study suggests that thymol may have a beneficial role against global ischemia reperfusion induced damage caused by excessive free radicals and behavioral alterations in rats.
