Abstract:
Bibliotek i København.

Abstract:
I would like to begin by disputing emphatically Gerald Beasley’s contention that librarians never become rich and famous. Sir Anthony Panizzi (1797–1879), Principal Librarian of the British Museum, was both, and so was Jorge Luis Borges (1899–1986), Director of the National Library in Buenos Aires. Well, perhaps Panizzi was not exactly a celebrity, and perhaps the source of Borges’s fame and riches was not his role as the National Librarian of Argentina. But what about the Abbé Rive, librarian to the Duc de la Vallière? He was infamous, if not famous, for being one of the most irascible . . .

Abstract:

Abstract
SUMMARY
Among the manuscripts of L. Spallanzani preserved at the «A. Panizzi» Library in Reggio Emilia there is an unsigned paper entitled «Osservazioni anatomiche intorno ai Pipistrelli» («Anatomical Observations on Bats»). Its examination proved that it is not by Spallanzani, but by the anatomist Michele Girardi, who studied the subject with particular attention to the nervous system of the cheiroptera at the request of L. Spallanzani, who developed an interest in the matter in the course of his research on the blind flight of these animals. Having established the authorship of the manuscript and reconstructed the circumstances in which the article was prepared, we analyse it briefly and reproduce a complete transcription of this unpublished text.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
AbstractRamalina panizzei De Not. is reported from Switzerland and north of the Alps for the first time. Recent collections and thalli found amongst specimens of R. fastigiata (Pers.) Ach. are described; the species is obviously not restricted to the Mediterranean. The confusion in several herbaria around this and related corticolous species, particularly R. subgeniculata Nyl. and R. fastigiata, can be traced back to imprecise original and subsequent diagnoses, all of which lack a clear species delimitation. Similarities and differences of these species are discussed. In addition, sequences from the rDNA ITS regions were determined for two individuals of R. panizzei and two of R. fastigiata, including one of each from a site where both species grow intermixed. Kimura 2-parameter genetic-distance estimates indicate that R. panizzei and R. fastigiata are as different from each other as either is from the reference species R. siliquosa (Hudson) A. L. Sm. s.l. A broad-based taxonomic revision of involved species is not possible due to the limited number of analyses, but the results demonstrate the potential for using DNA sequence data to investigate species-level questions in lichens. Based on morphology, chemistry, and DNA sequence data, R. panizzei is retained as a distinct species.

Abstract:
Uvod: U prikazu slučaja opisana je primjena tehnika kognitivno-bihevioralne terapije (KBT) i terapije desensitizacije i reprocesiranja uz pomoć pokreta očiju (EMDR, eng. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing – EMDR), u tretmanu paničnog poremećaja sa agorafobijom.

Abstract:
The pattern of people moving from villages to cities has become a pattern in various places, including in Paniai Regency. This pattern makes the village 'abandoned', while the city becomes congested. Therefore, the Paniai Regency Government issued a Return to Kampung policy so that the Paniai community returned and built a village. This policy has a derivative program for Coffee Farmers, all of which are funded by the Regency government. Therefore, this study looks at the implementation of these policies from the government's perspective. This study used qualitative research methods. The data was taken using the Literature Study Technique sourced from the news media that wrote about this activity, the Paniai district government website and social media channels. The result of this research is that the coffee planting program is able to make the Paniai community return to their village and empower the Paniai community

Abstract:

Abstract:
Prolonged submergence imposes special demands on the cardiovascular system. Unlike the situation in diving birds and mammals, crocodilians have the ability to shunt blood away from the lungs, despite having an anatomically divided ventricle. This remarkable cardiovascular flexibility is due in part to three anatomical peculiarities: (1) an 'extra' aorta (the left aorta) that leaves the right ventricle and allows the blood from the right ventricle to take an alternative route into the systemic circulation instead of going to the lungs; (2) the foramen of Panizza, an aperture that connects the right and left aortas at their base immediately outside the ventricle; and (3) a set of connective tissue outpushings in the pulmonary outflow tract in the right ventricle. Using high-resolution angioscopy, we have studied these structures in the beating crocodile heart and correlated their movements with in vivo pressure and flow recordings. The connective tissue outpushings in the pulmonary outflow tract represent an active mechanism used to restrict blood flow into the lungs, thus creating one of the conditions required for a right-to-left shunt. We observed that the foramen of Panizza was obstructed by the medial cusp of the right aortic valve during most of systole, effectively differentiating the left and right aortic blood pressure. During diastole, however, the foramen remained open, allowing pressure equilibration between the two aortas. Contrary to current theories, we found that the left aortic valves were unable to cover the foramen of Panizza during any part of the cardiac cycle, supporting the reversed foramen flow hypothesis. This would ensure a supply of blood to the coronary and cephalic circulation during a complete shut-down of the left side of the heart, such as might occur during prolonged submergence.
