Ce travail de thèse essaie de repérer les différents points de contact entre le champ télévisuel et les théories de Michel Foucault : en s’arrêtant sur les notions de panoptisme, de dispositif, d’aveu et de regard, la recherche vise à mieux comprendre la réalité « sémio-technique » de l’écriture télévisuelle, en général, et d’une série de programmes, en particulier : ceux de la « télé-réalité ». Que signifie la promesse du « tout voir » qui meut ces programmes ? Cette question première permet de mieux comprendre les liens entre une optique des corps sémiotisés et une optique, plus large, des dispositifs médiatiques. Dans une approche doublement foucaldienne, à la fois « généalogique » et « archéologique », le panoptisme télévisuel permet de faire le lien entre différentes pratiques sémiotiques (le sport), une logique intersémiotique (le « people ») et une attitude herméneutique proliférante (le « décryptage »). This work is an attempt of locating the conjonction points between television research and Michel Foucault’s theories : focusing on the main concepts of « panoptism », « apparatus », « confession » and « watch », this research is mainly a better understanding of « semiotechnical » fonctionnement in televisual writing, and more specifically in one kind of program : « real-tv ». What does mean the « all watching » promise wich is driving those tvprograms ? This first question is a way of a better understanding of the links between an « optic » of semiotised bodies and a more general « optic » of the media’s apparatus. Simultaneously refering to Foucault’s « genealogy » and « archeology », the televisual panoptism allowed us to establish a link between different kinds of semiotic applications (sport), an intersemiotic logic (« people ») and a proliferating hermenetic attitude (« decryptage »). "Freud, dans les Trois essais sur la théorie de la sexualité, associe le désir de savoir à la pulsion épisthémophilique dont la source se situe dans l’œil. « Voir » conduirait au désir de savoir, savoir inconscient, invisible à soi, et toutefois observateur de soi-même. Si la garde des détenus, le maintien de l’ordre et la préparation à la sortie caractérisent les missions des surveillants, « on constate que la mission de surveillance développe chez eux une faculté de voir [. . . ] qui surprennent l’observateur étranger. » (CHAUVENET). La prison permet de voir des individus dans un endroit confiné dont on ne veut rien savoir. Et ces personnes dont on ne veut rien savoir, car correctement mises à l’écart par des paravents opaques (caméras, œilletons. . . ), sont en permanence observées par les surveillants. Action continue et imposée par la fonction pouvant conduire à une désubjectivation des personnes détenues. L’œil qui voit est aussi celui qui regarde, à travers le malentendu (mal-perçu) de la relation scopique, s’installe tout le malentendu de la relation humaine, relation humaine qui demeure un rempart en ces lieux d’une expression singulière partagée. Cette recherche vise à montrer, comment, à l’instar du voir, le regard favorise l’intersubjectivité entre les personnes détenues et le personnel de surveillance depuis l’émergence d’une position singulière de l’agent de surveillance. La population est celle des surveillants pénitentiaires. La cohorte est constituée de 63 sujets sur 11 établissements. Il s’agit de montrer l’intérêt de la dimension psychologique, et plus spécifiquement du caractère sous-estimé de la pulsion scopique dans le milieu de l’enfermement. "
In his "Three essays on the theory of sexuality, Freud relates the desire to acquire knowledge to the epistemophilic drive, whose origin is in the eye. "Seeing" supposedly leads to the desire of knowledge, unconscious knowledge, unperceivable and yet self -onlooking. If keeping prisoners, maintaining law and order, preparing discharges are the missions of prison warders, "it has been shown that they develop an ability to see, through constant watching (. . . ), that surprises outside observers". (Chauvenet). The prison allows to see, in a confined place, people whom you don't want to know anything about. These persons whom you don't want to know anything about are constantly watched by warders through opaque screens (cameras, eyepieces. . . ). This continuous action, imposed by the warder's duties, can lead to a desubjectivation of prisoners. The seeing eye is also the watching eye. The misunderstanding (badly considered) of the scopic relation leaves way to the misunderstanding of human relationship, which is still, however, a defence in these places where there are very singular ways of expressing oneself. This study intends to show how the look, like the fact of seeing, makes way for the intersubjectivity between prisoners and warders, since the start of the warder's particular position. The population is composed of prison warders. The group consists in 63 people over 11 institutions. The point is to emphasize the interest of the psychological dimension, more specifically the underestimated effect of the scopic drive in confined places

Michel Foucault no seu livro Vigiar e punir, ao estudar o plano arquitetural do panóptico de Jeremy Bentham, inventa a concepção do panoptismo. Foucault tenta entender o panóptico dentro das problematizações do espaço, que para ele vão estar ligadas às dificuldades, no século XVIII, de lidar com o crescente aumento populacional e as transformações oriundas desta demanda. Segundo os escritos de Bentham, o panóptico é em sua estrutura física um prédio circular com uma torre central, de onde se pode observar as celas construídas a sua volta. Para empreender o estudo da invenção do panoptismo por Foucault, a pesquisa foi dividida em três capítulos. No Primeiro capítulo foi feita uma investigação sobre quais foram as prerrogativas do panoptismo, no sentido de inserir o pensador e sua obra dentro de um universo de produção. No segundo capítulo vai se falar de aproximações e divergências nas concepções de Foucault e Bentham do panóptico, em como Foucault o tomou como um indicativo de uma temporalidade. No terceiro capítulo foi feita uma divisão das fases do pensamento do autor, relacionando-as a arte e o ofício de historiar, para entender como é possível falar em invenção do panoptismo.
Michel Foucault in his book Discipline and Punish (Vigiar e punir) invents the concept of panoptic studying its architectural plan elaborated by Jeremy Bentham. Foucault tries to understand the panoptic inserted in problems about space that are, for him, connected to difficulties, in the XVIII century, to deal with population growth and its transformations. According to Bentham, the physical structure of panoptic is a circular building with a central tower, where someone can observe the cells constructed around it. To achieve the panoptism invention by Foucault, the dissertation was divided in three chapter. In the first was made an investigation about panoptism circumstances in order to inset the author and his work in a universe of production. The second deals with Foucault and Benthams approximations and divergences on conceptions about the panoptic. Besides this, the second chapter shows how Foucault takes the panoptic as an indicative of one temporality. The third chapter makes splitting in Foucaults thought in phases, connect them with the art and the métier of make history to understand how it can tell about panoptism invention.

Figureauto-constituée de « souverain des planches », LeKain n’a eut de cesse de vouloir réformer les modesde production et de fabrication théâtrales de son temps. En quoi le rapport de force qu’il instaure avectoutes les instances de décision et de pouvoir de la Comédie éclaire-t-il justement les mutations encours ? Quelles sont ses revendications ? Comment et pourquoi émergent-elles dans le champ théâtralde l’époque ? Quelles sont les stratégies mises en place par LeKain pour parvenir à ses fins ? En quoiconsiste cette tentative de prise de pouvoir sur l’ensemble du champ théâtral ? Pourquoi et commentcette va-t-elle esthétiquement et politiquement marquer les modes de gouvernance de la scène enFrance ? The aim of this study is to understand the major changes in theatrical practice in the 18th century,through an analysis of unpublished manuscript sources, written by the French actor Henri-LouisLeKain. Self-appointed « king of the boards », LeKain never ceased in his striving to update anddevelop the practice of theatrical production and presentation. To what extent does the power-strugglehe initiated with the decision makers at the the Comédie-Française, throw light on the changes takingplace ? What were his demands ? How did they emerge in the theatrical world of the time, and why ?What strategies did LeKain pursue to achieve his goals ? What did this attempt to seize power consistof in the wider field of theatre ? And how does it affect the governance of French theatrical productionin the widest political and aesthetic sense ? The Registre and all surrounding and accompanyingwritten material arise from LeKain’s desire to arrive at a definition of a theatrical ideal, of which heconsidered himself both the originator and sole repository, and to a lesser extent, from an attempt toformalise the production of the tragedies that he had commissioned.By attempting to place himself at the heart of an apparatus of production such that he could watchover every aspect – artistic, political, economic and moral – LeKain defined the outlines of a system ofcontrol very similar to the panoptic gaze defined by Foucault in Surveiller et Punir

This work aims at approaching and establishing a certain connection between Michel Foucault s investigations on the issue of power and its force relations on the disciplinary society and the administrative management practices and behaviors used in business organizations. In order to better understand this approach, we will focus on the employment of discipline on the workers everyday life as a control and surveillance device. Along this work, we will also use the thoughts of other authors, especially from other areas and, specifically from Business Administration, to demonstrate that discipline in business organizations is used by means of hierarchy to maximize efficiency (and consequently production), to optimize time and minimize costs, besides the social control, working mainly as a regulation of punishing practices
O presente trabalho procura abordar e estabelecer certa conexão entre as investigações de Michel Foucault, sobre a questão do poder e suas relações de força na sociedade disciplinar, e as práticas de gestão administrativas utilizadas nas organizações empresariais. Com o intuito de melhor compreendermos esta abordagem, focaremos o emprego da disciplina no cotidiano dos trabalhadores, como dispositivo de controle e de vigilância. Kategorierna barn och förälder är intimt sammanbundna: när föräldrar talar om barn så talar de även om sitt föräldraskap. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka idéer kring görandet av gott föräldraskap med kategorin barn som resurs. Studien vilar på ett diskursivt perspektiv där tyngdpunkten främst lutar mot Foucaults idéer kring makt och styrning. Det insamlade materialet består av observation och transkriberat material från två föräldramöten, två föräldragrupper och fyra enskilda intervjuer. Föräldrarna i studien berättar om sitt goda föräldraskap på olika sätt. Genom att berätta om barnet kan föräldern berätta om sitt lyckade föräldraskap. Föräldrarna berättar också om sig själva genom att tala om den andre, både genom att göra närhet och distans. Genom föräldrarnas berättelser kommer också normerande föreställningar om barn fram som handlar om att barnet ska ges kärlek, trygghet och en god framtid. Somliga av de föreställningar som uttrycks kan framstå som paradoxala: exempelvis tanken om att barnet ska prestera men samtidigt skyddas mot prestationskrav. Resultatet visar att gott föräldraskap görs på olika sätt i samtal och text, och att normerande föreställningar om barn och bra barndom är viktiga resurser i görandet av normerande föräldraskap.

Ce mémoire fait une exploration textuelle et théorique des œuvres de Pascale Petit, une poète française contemporaine dont la poésie crée des mondes fantaisistes qui brouillent les lignes entre la réalité et la fiction. Alors que certains de ses poèmes ont été recensés en revue, son œuvre plus large attend toujours l'analyse. Ce mémoire fait donc un premier effort à l'analyse de onze de ses poèmes, vers les buts d'évaluer le style poétique de Petit, de comprendre son approche à la poésie et de la situer parmi ses collègues contemporains. La discussion commence avec un aperçu sur les tendances actuelles dans la poésie française contemporaine, surtout par rapport au style de Petit. Elle continue avec une investigation de la performativité et du panoptique dans sa poésie, ainsi qu'une évaluation de son lyrisme subtil et les rôles que jouent l'identité et l'intertextualité dans les textes choisis. Au cours de l'étude l'accent est sur la manière dont la Poète développe un rapport avec le lecteur et l'invite à participer activement à créer du sens avec elle à travers ses poèmes.

Qu’ont en commun Jeremy Bentham, père de l’utilitarisme et inventeur du Panoptique, et Ann Radcliffe, fondatrice du courant gothique en littérature ? Les deux auteurs ont suscité l’intérêt de Michel Foucault (1926-1984), quand il se penchait sur la modernité émergeant à la fin du XVIIIe siècle. Il a mis en rapport le désir de transparence que le panoptique incarnait selon lui et les espaces obscurs des « romans de la terreur ». L’objet de cette thèse est de mettre à l’épreuve la validité de cette hypothèse en élargissant le champ d’investigation. Plusieurs pistes sont explorées pour conceptualiser l’articulation entre les œuvres de Bentham et de Radcliffe : la polysémie de Gothic dans le discours littéraire, historique, politique et juridique ; le contexte de réforme pénale ; la paranoïa et les théories du complot. La confrontation de deux corpus appartenant à des régimes de discours différents ne va pas sans difficultés méthodologiques, qui sont travaillées à l’aide de la notion de la fiction. What do Jeremy Bentham—the father of utilitarianism and the inventor of the Panopticon—and Ann Radcliffe—the founder of the literary Gothic—have in common? Both authors aroused the interest of Michel Foucault (1926-1984), at the time when he was studying the emergent modernity of the end of the XVIIIth century. He linked the desire for transparency which, according to him, the Panopticon embodied to the dark spaces of the Gothic novels. The purpose of this doctoral thesis is to put the validity of this hypothesis to the test by widening the field of investigation. In order to conceptualize the articulation between the works of Bentham and Radcliffe, various approaches have been adopted: the polysemy of Gothic in the literary, historical, political and juridical discourse; the context of penal reform; paranoia and conspiracy theories. The confrontation of two corpuses belonging to different discourse systems inevitably creates some methodological difficulties, which are explored by way of the notion of fiction. Foucault’s thinking about modernity went through a series of evolutions, which it is necessary to take into account in order to assess the relevance of the relation between Bentham and Radcliffe, beyond Discipline and Punish

In the last couple of years there has been an increase in camera surveillance in Malmö, Rosengård. The purpose of this study is to examine what effect the increase of camera surveillance has on the behaviour of the inhabitants of Rosengård. When talking about camera surveillance this includes every aspect of cameras. There are settled cameras as well as body cameras on police and lastly drones used to monitor. In an earlier study made by me, the aim was to interview police in Malmö to understand the underlying causes for the increase of camera surveillance and to understand in what way the cameras affect human behaviour. Unlike the previous study this one focuses on the inhabitants of Rosengård. The main focus is to see how these people perceive the increase in camera surveillance and to understand what effect they consider the camera surveillance has on mainly the criminal behaviour but also the residents daily behaviour.  The reasoning and thoughts that the residents of Rosengård share with us about camera surveillance in their area will all be analyzed through Michel Foucault's based theories: governmentality and panopticism. These theories are essential since they both concern power relations and the government's effect on self-discipline. Besides these two theories the study will also be supported by Mark Andrejevics theory lateral surveillance as the third theory. The main focus of the third theory is to analyze whether the residents in Rosengård feel like they are obligated to report crime in their area and in what way they monitor their area. The presentation of the theories is followed by an analysis section where the theoretical starting points are applied to the informants' reasoning about the effect of camera surveillance. Finally, the analysis leads on to a conclusion where what is written in the analysis is summarized and reflected upon.

Le raisonnement de ce mémoire se déploie dans l'espace insidieux qu'est la prison, et prend la mesure de sa puissance architecturale et de son influence manifeste sur le récit. Organisé sur les principes d'une pensée unique et totalitaire où la surveillance, la négation de l'individu et le pouvoir hiérarchique en sont les diktats, l'espace carcéral sert d'outil de destruction de la pulsion individuelle. La surveillance omnisciente scrute l'individu pour en extraire la déviance; le collectif agit donc sur l'unique pour anéantir la différence. Parallèlement, les régimes concentrationnaires se sont largement inspirés de l'architecture carcérale - ou est-ce l'inverse? - pour créer une structure sociale omnisciente et asphyxiante qui détruit la figure de l'insoumis et l'individualité au nom d'un bonheur massif . Ce type d'organisation sociale de l'espace où chacun est scruté, aliéné, simplifie les individus, efface leur tempérament, les rend non-humains, pour former une sorte de masse informe, incapable de confronter ou de combattre une autorité. Ainsi, le discours ne pourra jamais atteindre la narration et demeurera descriptif et anticipé, car n'est-ce pas la différence , le déséquilibre qui fait le récit ? Dès lors, si l'architecture panoptique, voire utopique, rend impossible le déséquilibre et bloque l'accès à l'axe du désir du schéma de Greimas, force est de constater qu'aucune histoire n'existera, aucun trajet narratif, d'un point A à un point B, ne sera possible. L'utopie de la construction carcérale serait a-narrative; la transgression permettrait l'histoire et la figure de l'évadé prendra alors toute son importance narrative.

FundaÃÃo de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do CearÃ
O objetivo de estudo desta pesquisa foi analisar o cotidiano do CEFAM com o foco das prÃticas de homoerotismo, (in)disciplina e panoptismo das histÃrias de vida das normalistas que participaram do projeto de formaÃÃo de professores no Instituto de EducaÃÃo do Cearà entre os anos de 1992-1995. A metodologia aplicada durante a pesquisa foi o levantamento de documentos da Ãpoca. Encontrei documentos referentes à implementaÃÃo do projeto, regimento disciplinar, atas de registro das condutas indisciplinares e entrevistas com sujeitos envolvidos. à importante ressaltar que a pesquisa realizada foi mediante o cruzamento de fontes documentais e relatos orais, apontando para um conceito de se fazer histÃrias de condutas e sentimentos, que foi narrada por agentes sociais, que falaram e ecoaram sentimentos de suas vivÃncias, de seu cotidiano cefaniano e de suas intimidades. Sabendo que trabalho de pesquisa desde Ãmbito privativo, gerou em mim pesquisadora armadilhas e contradiÃÃes diversas. Esta incidÃncia de emoÃÃes e sentimentos intrÃnsecos aos relacionamentos Ãntimos que foram investigados, levou-me a optar por um registro de temporalidade, com base em depoimentos a respeito de um terreno subjetivo recheado de signos e cÃdigos, em que os dilemas e as fronteiras conferiram significados e projeÃÃes buscadas de uma memÃria individual e coletiva neste universo explorado. Separaram e instituÃram. Percebi que no interior cefaniano o tempo e o espaÃo valorizaram as diferentes formas; o tempo do estudo e o tempo delimitaram os lugares permitidos proibidos e determinaram os sujeitos que poderiam ou nÃo transitar por eles; e decidiram qual o tempo que importava; apontaram as formas adequadas para todas as pessoas se ocupar em(ou gastar ou em usar) o tempo.
The objective of this research was to analyze the daily CEFAM with a focus in the practice of homoeroticism, (in)discipline and panopticism life histories of normality that participated in the project of teacher education at the Institute of Education of Cearà between the years 1992-1995. The methodology applied during the research was a survey of the season. I found documents relating to project implementation, regiment disciplinary record of the minutes of unruly behavior and interviews with people involved. Importantly, the survey was conducted by the intersection of documentary sources and oral histories, pointing to a concept of making stories and feelings of conduct, which was told by social workers, who spoke and echoed sentiments of their experiences in their daily cefaniano and their intimacies. Knowing that research work since sieve private and particular, has generated in me researcher several pitfalls and contradictions. The impact of emotions and feelings inherent to intimate relationships that were investigated, led me to choose a record of temporality, based on testimony about a land filled with subjective signs and codes, in which the dilemmas and gave meaning and boundaries projections sought an individual and collective memory in this universe that has been explored. Another method used was discourse analysis supplied by the involved subjects who presented within the space CEFAM a body that is educated, it becomes disciplined releasing devices sexuality managing sexual practices that expand, and at the same time is shaped and remained the mesmas.O CEFAM and all that circulated delimited spaces. O objetivo de estudo desta pesquisa foi analisar o cotidiano do CEFAM com o foco das práticas de homoerotismo, (in)disciplina e panoptismo das histórias de vida das normalistas que participaram do projeto de formação de professores no Instituto de Educação do Ceará entre os anos de 1992-1995. A metodologia aplicada durante a pesquisa foi o levantamento de documentos da época. Encontrei documentos referentes à implementação do projeto, regimento disciplinar, atas de registro das condutas indisciplinares e entrevistas com sujeitos envolvidos. É importante ressaltar que a pesquisa realizada foi mediante o cruzamento de fontes documentais e relatos orais, apontando para um conceito de se fazer histórias de condutas e sentimentos, que foi narrada por agentes sociais, que falaram e ecoaram sentimentos de suas vivências, de seu cotidiano cefaniano e de suas intimidades. Sabendo que trabalho de pesquisa desde âmbito privativo, gerou em mim pesquisadora armadilhas e contradições diversas. Esta incidência de emoções e sentimentos intrínsecos aos relacionamentos íntimos que foram investigados, levou-me a optar por um registro de temporalidade, com base em depoimentos a respeito de um terreno subjetivo recheado de signos e códigos, em que os dilemas e as fronteiras conferiram significados e projeções buscadas de uma memória individual e coletiva neste universo explorado. Life in the barracks is dictated by a multiplicity of normative commands that organic scan the behavior of the individual-military", particularly when it comes to functional routinization done by the military police. This is a process of interna corporis socialization that acts inside of the dynamics formation of military and police identity, and represents a traditional symbolic capital of institutional power of the military apparatus of the State. In fact, mark symbolically the individuals subject to the police culture, using specific features of "total institution" to the police rows. Thus, the profile of the identity of the military's civilian is gradually the mortification of mechanisms of the "I" conjured up by an instrumental logic of an axiological military discipline hermetically “closed” and distanced, from the point of view of politics, and the values of democracy, republic, and humanities. Given this, here it is claimed that the military "disciplines", in turn, establishes a general system of control and docilization of military conducts closely linked to the Panopticon system, which ensures an efficient and exemplary punishment of acts considered as deviants of military standards. Given this, here it is tried to identify that the hipercodification of the law system of the military police of São Paulo state, in Brazil, was inspired by the speech of the "military-moral". It constitutes the “I” mortification technique by docilization of the military bodies and the disciplinary panoptism. Finally, it is demonstrated here the need to reduce the field of completeness and disciplinary strategies of the legal system of the military police of São Paulo, which leads to the creation of a model of discipline aesthetically military aligned to the interests of society, justice system and the establishment of the fundamental rights of the military police. This kind of discipline needs to be aligned to the construction of a police identity in tune with humanistic values, what marks the originality of the thesis sustained in this work, marked mostly by philosophical musings of Michel Foucault
A vida na caserna é ditada por uma multiplicidade orgânica de comandos normativos que esquadrinham o comportamento do “indivíduo-militar”, particularmente no que toca à rotinização funcional exercida pelos policiais militares. Trata-se de um processo de socialização interna corporis que atua na dinâmica formativa da identidade policial militar e representa tradicionalmente um notável capital simbólico de poder institucional dos aparelhos militares do Estado brasileiro. Com efeito, marcam-se simbolicamente os indivíduos sujeitos à cultura policial, empregando-se caraterísticas próprias de “instituição total” às fileiras policiais. Assim, o perfil da identidade civil do militar é submetido gradualmente a mecanismos de mortificação do “eu” engendrados por uma lógica instrumental axiológica de disciplina militar hermeticamente “fechada” e distanciada, sob o ponto de vista político, de valores democráticos, republicanos e humanísticos. Diante disso, sustenta-se que as “disciplinas” militares, por sua vez, instauram um regime geral de controle e docilização das condutas militares intimamente ligadas ao sistema panóptico de vigilância, o que garante uma exemplar e eficiente punição de atos considerados desviantes dos padrões militares, inclusive. Diante disso, identifica-se que a hipercodificação do ordenamento jurídico disciplinar dos policiais militares do Estado de São Paulo, inspirada no discurso da “moral-militar”, constitui técnica de mortificação do “eu”, de docilização dos corpos militares e do panoptismo disciplinar. Por fim, demonstra-se a necessidade de redução do campo de estratégias totalizantes e disciplinares do ordenamento jurídico da policial militar paulista, o que leva à criação de um modelo de disciplina esteticamente militar que se alinhe aos interesses da sociedade, ao sistema de justiça e à efetivação dos direitos fundamentais do policial militar e à construção de uma identidade policial afinada com os valores humanísticos, o que marca o ineditismo da Tese sustentada neste trabalho, balizada, principalmente, pelas reflexões filosóficas de Michel Foucault

George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, first published in 1949, is a vision of socialism gone wrong. The setting of Oceania is a world ruled over by an oligarchical collective, “The Party,” which wields absolute power through a formidable combination of surveillance technology and the operation of the principles of “panoptic control,” a concept drawn from Jeremy Bentham’s model prison design of the late 1700s and revived by Foucault in the mid 1970s. The combination of surveillance technology and panoptic control is central to the functioning of power in Orwell’s novel, a union which has created a self-sustaining form of totalitarianism dependent on the oppression of individual identity for its automatic perpetuation. This essay offers a reading of Nineteen Eighty-Four as an implicit critique of Bentham’s Panopticon which in many ways foreshadowed the later work of Michel Foucault on the functioning of power within this specific type of physical and social architecture.
George Orwells roman 1984, vilken publicerades första gången 1949, är en framtidsvision om socialism som gått fel. Romanen utspelas i Oceania, en värld som styrs av ett oligarkiskt kollektiv, “Partiet,” vilket utövar absolut makt genom en utstuderad kombination av övervakningsteknik och teorin om “panoptisk” kontroll, ett begrepp sprunget ur av Jeremy Benthams fängelsemodell från sent 1700-tal, vilket återskapades av Michel Foucault i mitten av 1970-talet. Kombinationen av övervakningsteknologi och panopticism har i Oceanien skapat en totalitarianism som fungerar med automatik och förtrycker individuell identitet för att befästa statens makt. Denna uppsats närmar sig Orwells 1984 som en underförstådd kritik av Benthams arbete. Vidare identifier i romanen 1984 många av Foucault’s idéer om hur makt fungerar i en panoptisk struktur.

Notre thèse tente d'appréhender la dimension psycho-sociale du pouvoir managerial et la dynamique sociétale qu'il crée, en conjuguant les conceptions foucaldiennes et sociocliniques du pouvoir. Plus précisément, nous étudions la structure de médiation globale déployée par les organisations de grande taille dites hypermodernes, dont l'action se situe à la confluence des registres gouvernemental, idéologique et psychologique. Notre recherche décrit un mode de socialisation caractéristique qui procède d'un étayage réciproque entre fonctionnement de la psyché et fonctionnement de l'organisation, induit par ses dispositifs de pouvoir manageriaux. Nous identifions une systémique hégémonique de normalisation comportementale basée sur le contrôle du processus de subjectivation. Ce faisant, nous esquissons une phénoménologie du régime de pouvoir managerial en tant que biopouvoir typique des sociétés de contrôle. Nous instruisons la condition psychique et subjective de l'individu-sujet contemporain, nous interrogeons sa portée politique au regard de la forme d'autonomie, la possibilité d'émancipation et la gouvernementalité engendrées. Notre problématisation, de manière non déterministe, considère le risque totalitaire d'un tel biopouvoir à la systémique globalisante. Notre approche socioclinique transdisciplinaire complémentariste articule une série de schèmes théoriques issus de corpus variés, pour ainsi élaborer différents niveaux d'analyse et une multi-problématisation de notre objet d'étude. Sur le plan empirique, notre travail s'est focalisé sur un décryptage de la puissance discriminante du dispositif de pouvoir managerial sous l'angle du contrôle du gouvernement de soi.

L’évolution des notions juridiques de vie privée et de données personnelles. A l’inverse de la littérature foisonnante sur le thème de la surveillance, il ne s’agit pas ici de mettre en avant la nécessité de trouver un équilibre entre la surveillance entendue dans sa dimension sécuritaire et la protection de la vie privée et des données personnelles, en ce qu’elle constitue une liberté fondamentale reconnue par les institutions françaises et européennes. Cette recherche d’une balance équilibrée entre sécurité et liberté doit nécessairement être dépassée pour comprendre le phénomène de surveillance diffuse. La surveillance n’est plus la simple activité de recherche de renseignements concernant un individu potentiellement dangereux. Elle s’inscrit plutôt dans la poursuite de ceque Hannah Arendt qualifie de « crise de la culture ». La surveillance diffuse est même l’une des caractéristiques de la culture contemporaine dominée par la peur, la consommation et l’aliénation par les technologies. Devenue la nouvelle norme sociale admise, la surveillance diffuse désinstitue le droit des données personnelles et la protection de la vie privée. The purpose of this research is to understand how diffuse surveillance fits into the evolution of legal concepts of privacy and personal data. Contrary to the abundant literature on the subject of surveillance, it is not a questionhere of highlighting the need to find a balance between surveillance in its security dimension and the protection of privacy and data, as a fundamental freedom recognized by French and European institutions. This search for a balance between security and freedom must necessarily be overcome to understand the phenomenon of diffuse surveillance. Surveillance is no longer just a search for information about a potentially dangerous individual. Rather, it is a continuation of what Hannah Arendt calls the « crisis of culture ». Diffuse surveillance is even oneof the features of contemporary culture dominated by fear, consumption and alienation by technology. Having become the new accepted social norm, the diffuse surveillance deinstitutes the right of the personal data and the protection of the private life. Gradually, it also deinstitutes the Law to profit from the economic liberalism that it carries within it

The goal of this thesis The thematization of the issue of surveillance and power in cinematography is to introduce Michael Focault's theory of power, and add to it with other theories of surveillance with regard to the electronic age (Surveillance studies). Subsequently these theories and hypothesis are applied to qualitative analysis of chosen films with the theme of surveillance. Findings should show the cinematographic reflection of the issue of surveillance and power, de facto depiction of theory and practice of surveillance studies (emphasising the use of power in institutions like prison, hospital, school or working environment, which are heterotopic "other spaces") in live-action movies. The thesis shows development within the past 30 years which took place also due to the existence of internet, which is a kind of institution too. Hypothesis: it is obvious in films with surveillance theme that the concept of the use of power is evolving from "body as a machine" (M. Foucault) to "disappearing bodies" (D. Lyon). The choice of films is analysed only with regard to their depiction of surveillance, is mainly based on the list of movies with surveillance theme constructed by a German theorist D. Kammerer.
