Abstract:
The present study tried to observe Pakistani masculinity in terms of ‘4Dman’on covers of paparazzi magazines. Galician (2004)highlighted that mostly gendered magazines represent flawless and perfect sort of beauty which is usually missed by normal persons of society. Cashion (2010), under the Bauer Media, mentioned that'4Dman' is a term to represent a confident, physically fit, metro sexual and manly behavior; 4Dman is different from the lad who is a young boy. The content analysis through an inter sectional method of six covers of Pakistani English magazine ‘paparazzi’ revealed that Pakistani men on covers are not sex objects, supportive to the other models, well mannered, well groomed and esteemed, well represented, passionate, young, energetic and intellectual and physically fit. Individuality in male portrayals is more clear rather than to be repressed by others. Pakistani men's dress includes full clothing like qameez shalwar, pants, shirts, sherwani, jackets etc., to affirm Pakistani culture. The pictorial message on all the six covers is to attract and keep the readership, fantasies the imagery and represent the gender in general and particularly Pakistani males as4Dman.

Abstract:
In his essay the author discusses the question of film spectator of the particular movie, namely “La Dolce Vita”, directed by Federico Fellini. Since its premiere in February 1960, the movie has produced a lot of controversies, concerning both the artistic aspects, as well as manners and customs. The author concentrates on the extraordinary position of the spectator inside the film narration. He discusses the question of the intertextual place of the viewer both inside the narration and syuzhet. The viewer in many cases plays a role of authors porte parole. The different roles of protagonists are named: fallen aristocrats, petit bourgeois, artists, intellectuals, foreign celebrity. The one of the most important is the role of paparazzi, coined for the first time in the Fellini’s film. It created the aggressive photographer, the “bandit” of the camera. The variety of the roles, with emphasis of the paparazzi, produce the situation, where Fellini brilliantly makes an illusion of fully controlled narration by the spectator. But it is the artistic illusion, nothing more.

Abstract For years, there have been relentless pleas by celebrities for their children to be left alone by persistent and frightening paparazzi. Despite two seminal cases heard in UK courts in 2008 and 2014 concerning, respectively, the privacy rights of the children of J.K. Rowling and Paul Weller, a glance at the online pages of UK news outlets reveals that unpixellated photographs of celebrity children remain commonplace. This article will argue that not enough is being done to protect the children of celebrities from press intrusion, and that a child rights-based approach, couched in the best interests of the child, should be adopted, to better regulate the behaviour of the media when it comes to the taking and publishing of photographs of children, even if pixelated in the final publication.

Using attribution theory, it concludes that the newspapers dealt with criticism of the media in the case in several ways. The fight against unmanned vehicles is nothing new; however, especially with the arrival of new technologies that are easily accessible for the wider population, new problems are arising. The deployment of small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) by paramilitary organizations during conflicts around the world has become a reality, non-lethal “paparazzi” actions have become a common practice, and it is only a matter of time until the population faces lethal attacks. The basic prerequisite for direct defense against attacking UAVs is their detection. The authors of this paper analysed the possibility of detecting flying aircraft in several different electro-magnetic spectrum bands. Firstly, methods based on calculations and simulations were chosen, and experiments in laboratories and measurements of the exterior were subsequently performed. As a result, values of the radar cross section (RCS), the noise level, the surface temperature, and optical as well as acoustic traces of tested devices were quantified. The outputs obtained from calculated, simulated, and experimentally detected values were found via UAV detection distances using specific sensors working in corresponding parts of the frequency spectrum.

The protection of privacy is being increasingly recognised worldwide by the courts, and media regulators, as a result of what is seen as a more powerful and intrusive media, and the effect of the internet. A right to privacy may even apply in a public place. This article examines the impact this has on the media in the information age? New Zealand now has a tort of interference with privacy. The criminal courts are also considering privacy values in issues ranging from suppression orders to release of court information to the public. The Broadcasting Standards Authority has revised its privacy principles. Codes of conduct with regard to the print media also acknowledge privacy. But the protection of privacy has its genesis in the 1890s and not in the digital age. A seminal article by Warren and Brandeis, ‘The Right to Privacy’ (1890), was a reaction to what was at that time seen as an over-powerful media. United States jurisprudence evolved to the Prosser and Keeton formulation in the 1960s. New Zealand jurisprudence has relied on this formulation to advance privacy rights. The English courts have taken a similar approach in the much publicised Douglas v Hello! and Naomi Campbell cases. The European courts, as a reaction to an overactive paparazzi, have pushed the bounds of privacy in the Peck and Princess Caroline cases. The High Court of Australia considered privacy in Lenah Game Meats Pty Ltd. Finally, the International Covenants and protection of privacy.

In November 2013 Darryn Lyons, a former celebrity photographer well-known for his colourful antics, was directly elected as mayor of Geelong, the second largest city in the State of Victoria, Australia. Also known as “Mr Paparazzi” and “The Mohawk Mayor”, Lyons’s leadership lasted just 30 months before the Victorian State Government sacked him and dissolved the entire Geelong Council, revealing a pre-existing culture of bullying that appeared to be compounded by Lyons’s celebrity persona. How did Lyons’s persona affect Geelong’s newly established procedures for a directly elected mayor? Drawing on one particularly controversial incident, and using data collected from Lyons’s autobiography, together with media articles, official documents and social media, this article discusses how - as a celebrity politician - Lyons appeared to be unable to effectively separate his celebrity persona from his public persona. This seemed to drown out Geelong’s important issues, and undermined the legitimacy of local government. The current literature on directly elected mayors does not include consideration of how electing a celebrity as mayor complicates the problems of legitimacy in local government, and there is a paucity of literature on directly elected celebrity mayors in Australia. An emerging literature on directly elected mayors primarily addresses problems with legitimacy in contemporary politics, while the literature on celebrity politics changing legitimacy has been well established. Using the Lyons case, this article examines both literatures and contributes to the national and international debate on directly elected celebrity mayors.

The subjects of the two texts analysed in this article are two highly significant recent historical events: the death of Lady Diana in a car crash after being chased by paparazzi on 31 August 1997 and the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City on 11 September 2001, which are addressed by the Italian writer Beppe Sebaste and the French writer Frédéric Beigbeder, respectively. An analysis of each text shows that they not only examine the events in question through reportage, but they are also strongly personal and subjective. Both texts also put forward literary writers to help ‘read’ extensively mediated events, provoking reflection on how news travels and is mediated in increasingly immediate ways in today’s world, while also harking back to New Journalism. They could be called ‘unidentified narrative objects’, a label I borrow from the Italian writer Roberto Bui, alias Wu Ming 1, who has applied it to a corpus of recent Italian texts (including that of Sebaste), that combine modes of writing – such as journalism, history, detective fiction and life-writing – often blurring the boundaries between fiction and nonfiction, in order to more effectively draw their readers’ attention to the national and global issues they address. Here, I extend the term unidentified narrative objects beyond Italy’s borders to the work of Beigbeder and others, suggesting that such hybridity is connected to how we process the world around us today and a new iteration of literary journalism.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) are a rapidly evolving tool in geosciences and are increasingly deployed for studying the dynamic processes of the earth’s surface. To assess the potential of autonomous low-cost UAVs for the mapping and monitoring of alpine glaciers, we conducted multiple aerial surveys on the Kanderfirn in the Swiss Alps in 2017 and 2018 using open hardware and software of the Paparazzi UAV project. The open-source photogrammetry software OpenDroneMap was tested for the generation of high-resolution orthophotos and digital surface models (DSMs) from aerial imagery and cross-checked with the well-established proprietary software Pix4D. Accurately measured ground control points served for the determination of the geometric accuracy of the orthophotos and DSMs. A horizontal (xy) accuracy of 0.7–1.2 m and a vertical (z) accuracy of 0.7–2.1 m was achieved for OpenDroneMap, compared to a xy-accuracy of 0.3–0.5 m and a z-accuracy of 0.4–0.5 m obtained for Pix4D. Based on the analysis and comparison of different orthophotos and DSMs, surface elevation, roughness and brightness changes from 3 June to 29 September 2018 were quantified. While the brightness of the glacier surface decreased linearly over the ablation season, the surface roughness increased. The mean DSM-based elevation change across the glacier tongue was 8 m, overestimating the measured melting and surface lowering at the installed ablation stakes by about 1.5 m. The presented results highlight that self-built fixed-wing UAVs in tandem with open-source photogrammetry software are an affordable alternative to commercial remote-sensing platforms and proprietary software. The applied low-cost approach also provides great potential for other regions and geoscientific disciplines.

The study investigated the major fashion trends that have characterised Dipo rite from 1950 to 2019. The narrative and descriptive research designs, under the qualitative approach, were used to investigate the major Dipo dress fashion trends. The sample for the study comprised of four (4) respondents consisting of two (2) traditional rulers knowledgeable in Dipo traditions and customs and have experienced the Dipo rite for at least two decades; one (1) opinion leader, and one (1) photographer who has been a paparazzi during Dipo rites for more than a decade. Interview and non-participant observation constituted the data collection instruments while thematic and descriptive analysis were the analytical tools used. The suboe (red fabric), Kraala (white fabric), wax print and kente Fabrics are some of such materials that signal the major Krobo Dipo dress fashion trends. The dominant presence of the Euro-Christian and Islamic ideological infiltration and stereotyping of the Dipo rite of passage in Ghana has been unsuccessful in depleting Dipo dress cultural practice. Four major stages of Dipo rites were identified with each displaying an array of Dipo dress fashions in observance of the rite. They are the tying of string (sɔni), cleansing initiation (wearing of red loincloth), victory initiation (wearing of white loincloth), and dress-ups (Newuom and kawɔ). These fashion trends are predominately wraparound with accessories to match. Wax print fabrics were dominant fabrics used by initiates during the first dress-up called Newuom while Kente dominated in use for Kawↄ. The flamboyant public display of Dipo contemporary fashion is undoubtedly a unique advertising platform that textile manufacturing companies in Ghana should take advantage of to market their products.

AbstrakKecamatan Rowosari memiliki potensi perikanan yang sangat baik karena didukung oleh letaknya yang strategis dan berbatasan langsung dengan Laut Jawa. Produk ikan laut ini dimanfaatkan oleh warga Desa Tambaksari yang diolah menjadi produk ikan asap. Proses pengasapan yang masih sederhana dan belum tersentuh teknologi ini sehingga kapasitas produksi yang sedikit dan kurangnya higienitas pada proses pengasapan. Proses pengasapan ikan yang memerlukan waktu 7 – 8 jam serta hasil ikan asap yang terpapar di rak terbuka membuat produk ikan yang dihasilkan kurang higienis karena lalat dapat hinggap pada ikan tersebut. Untuk itu diperlukan teknologi yang dapat meningkatkan kapasitas dan higienitas produk ikan asap yaitu dengan sistem paparasi. Dengan sistem paparasi proses pengasapan dapat ditekan hingga 3 – 4 jam serta tingkat higienitas yang lebih baik. Kata kunci: Pengasapan Ikan, TerintegrasiImprovement Of Quality And Capacity Of Asap Fish Production Through Paparation System (Integrated Finging) In Tambaksari Village, Rowosari District, Kendal Regency, Central Java AbstractRowosari District has excellent fishery potential because it is supported by its strategic location and directly adjacent to Java Sea. This marine fish product is utilized by Tambaksari villagers who processed into smoked fish products. The fogging process is still simple and untouched by this technology resulting in little production capacity and a lack of hygiene in the curing process. The process of fumigation of fish that takes 7 - 8 hours and the results of smoked fish exposed on the open shelves make fish products produced less hygienic because the flies can land on the fish. For that needed a technology that can increase the capacity and hygiene of smoked fish products with the system of paparasi. With curing process paparasi process can be pressed up to 3 - 4 hours and hygiene level better. Key words: Fish Smoking Kiln, Integration

Recently a number of young, ultra-talented, Māori and Pacific Island performers have emerged on local stages in Aotearoa (the Māori name for New Zealand) and beyond. Exemplifying this bright, youthful energy is Hone Kouka's multi-media production The Beautiful Ones, a joyful exploration of luminous rangatahi (youth) unleashed in a liminal realm. Adopting the Māori cosmological concept of Te Kore, in this article Nicola Hyland explores the depiction of rangatahi in this performance as transformational: liberated – culturally, sexually, and performatively – from historical tropes of youth and indigeneity. Nicola Hyland is a lecturer in Theatre at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, and has ancestral ties to the Te Ati-Haunui-a-Paparangi and Ngati Hauiti iwi tribes of Aotearoa.

Exactly three weeks after I’d seen one of the Canadian premiere performances of Wayne Koestenbaum and Michael Daugherty’s Jackie O at the Eric Harvie Theatre at the Banff Centre for the Arts, I spent a Saturday evening watching CNN with my teenage son as the news of the car crash which killed Princess Diana unfolded in an incredible, shocking and often chaotic dramatic narrative. As one royal observer from the British press commented during those long hours of broadcast, “We have lost perhaps the most important icon of the twentieth century. Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Kennedy, they are the only other contenders; and Jackie, she lived too long.” It was an odd moment in a night of many odd moments, and the reporting in the period immediately following the accident pointed to a remarkable prescience in Jackie O, where a second-act duet for Jackie and Maria Callas becomes a fierce attack on a tap-dancing paparazzo who would aggressively invade the sanctuary of Skorpios in search of an exclusive photograph. Almost balletic in performance style and moving from high opera to film score in its musical range, this scene was one of the most powerful of Nicholas Muni’s direction of Jackie O, one which pointed to the relentless demands of “celebrity” and a necessary, concomitant quest for self-protection. The evidence on CNN that night gave a ghastly truth to the earlier staged performance. And even before August 1997, in an interview coinciding with the Houston Grand Opera premiere of Jackie O (in March of the same year), the opera’s librettist, Wayne Koestenbaum, had said, “Jackie dominated the world’s biggest theatrical proceeding, the media. Her only rivals are Elizabeth Taylor and Princess Diana – and Di’s really just a copy of Jackie” (“A Diva” 10).

Целью исследований являлось дефиниция физико-химических характеристик кирпича из строений Увекского городища для историко-архитектурного, технико-экономического обоснования строительных технологий Золотой Орды, проведения реконструкционных и реставрационных работ, компьютерного моделирования в системах виртуальной и дополненной реальности. В работе приводятся данные по разнообразию форм и размеров кирпича, отпечаткам на его поверхности. Рассматриваются результаты исследований поопределению элементного состава керамического материала методами Оже и вторичной-ионной масс-спектроскопии (ВИМС) с целью идентификации мест добычи сырья.
