Abstract:

For this master thesis, two methods to apply a pattern with a controlled amount of moisture to hand sheets were evaluated. The two methods evaluated were spraying and pressing. Spraying moisture onto the sheets was deemed the easiest method to control and was chosen for further studies. The sheets were sprayed with four spray times and patterns to create different moisture content variations (4.2, 8.0, 14.2 and 26.9 pp moisture content difference). The moisture patterns were designed so the sheets had either moist spots with drier surroundings or reversibly, drier spots with moist surroundings

Process industries are in general depending, in one way or the other, on fluid mechanics.Specifically, paper manufacturing, which probably is the dominant processindustry in Sweden, is depending on the flow of cellulose fibres suspended in water.As a part of the process the suspension, consisting of fibres in water, is spread out onor between two moving permeable weaves, i.e. wires. This thesis presents an experimental investigation into the relationship between the in-plane structure of paper and its optical uniformity. Analysis has been carried out on a range of different papers, including laboratory formed handsheets, pilot machine made papers and commercial grades. Паперовий літак – зменшена копія справжнього літака з усіма його властивостями. Основними характеристиками є траєкторія польоту, швидкість, дальність і складність конструкції. Зміна форми носа, крил, матеріалу та загалом модель вливає на параметри стійкості польоту, дальність та напрям. Для проведення експериментальних досліджень було виготовлено декілька моделей різних модифікацій по три екземпляри з різного матеріалу. За допомогою рулетки, камери та секундоміру визначалась дальність та час польоту, і отримані результати були занесені в таблицю.

The objective of this study was to investigate the anaerobic biological treatment of an organic-bearing wastewater from a particular paper manufacturing process at laboratory scale. The process produces paper by re-pulping waste paper. Effluent from the process has a Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) concentration of approximately 4500 mg/l with a sulphate content of approximately 300 mg SO₄²⁻/l. The Venus Series is an attempt to recreate the power, mystery and primal beauty of the pre-historic Venus Figurines. I created my own Venus Figurines out of handmade paper incorporating history, contemporary culture and autobiography. I then photographed these sculptures with the wet-plate collodion process in order to re-create the beauty and drama of the original Venus Figurines.
