Abstract:
Purpose: To investigate the in vitro antidiabetic, aphrodisiac and antimicrobial properties of para-propoxybenzoic acid isolated from Acacia auriculiformis stem bark. Methods: Powdered dried stem bark of A. auriculiformis was extracted with 70 % ethanol in water and the dried extract obtained was suspended in water and partitioned with ethyl acetate and n-butanol to give their respective soluble fractions. The ethyl acetate fraction being more active, in terms of in-vitro aphrodisiac, antidiabetic and antimicrobial properties, was subjected to chromatographic separation to obtain C1 identified as parapropoxybenzoic acid, which was also evaluated for in-vitro properties using standard procedures. Results: 4-Propoxybenzoic acid showed a weak aphrodisiac property which was not significantly different (p < 0.05) from that of control (normal saline) for all the sexual parameters tested. The compound exhibited antidiabetic activity by dose-dependently inhibiting the actions of α-amylase with half-maximal concentration (IC50) value of 50 ± 0.45 μg/mL. In this regard, it was comparable to that of the standard, acarbose (30 ± 0.18 μg/mL). In the antimicrobial study, a concentration of 200 μg/mL of the compound gave the highest zone of inhibition of 18 ± 0.23 mm against Vibo cholriae (NCTC 5438) Conclusion: The results indicate that the isolated compound, 4-propoxybenzoic, exhibits good antidiabetic and anti-microbial but weak aphrodisiac properties.

Abstract:
Peltophorum pterocarpum (DC.) Abstract Peltophorum pterocarpum (DC.) Backer ex Heyne is a tree whose rapid growth and adaptation to hydric stress conditions allow its use as an ornamental in hot, dry cities of the tropics. However, the propagation by seeds is difficult due to the hardness of the seminal cover, being necessary the application of pregerminative treatments. The objective was to describe the germination and emergence process and to analyze the possible morphoanatomic causes of dormancy in P. pterocarpum seeds. For this, the germination times (T10, T50, T90) were estimated, the seedling phase was studied and semi-permanent sheets were made. The seeds are elliptical, homogeneous, and opaque. The presence of the thread, micropyle, funiculus, raphe, and the lens or strophiolelocated towards the end of the line was evidenced. The embryo is straight and the embryonic axis is made up of the conical, amphitropic radicle, with two simple, elliptical, fleshy cotyledons and scant endosperm. Germination was epigeal and phanerocotylar, with the first pair of bipinnate prophiles with eight leaflets. The morphoanatomical characteristics of the seeds provide the strategies for the species to spread through time and space due to the presence of physical dormancy, which is anatomically associated with the sclerenchymal tissue presented by the presence of two layers of cells uniformly thickened, lignified and compact, arranged in a palisade, next to a row of osteosclereids. To facilitate the procedures to be followed by nurserymen and producers during the sexual propagation of the species, it is recommended to evaluate pregerminative treatments. Abstract:
“Girls don´t draw cars… but there are girls who do it”: child cultures, gender and comics AbstractThis article discusses child culture-oriented productions based on the experience of boys and girls aged 3-5 with the language found in comics, focusing on gender relations. The article views comics as one of the media products which can be related to child behavior, from the perspective of sexual differentiated stereotypes. It also examines an association with philosophy, sociology, sociology of childhood, early childhood pedagogy and art, in a sense which casts light on how children interact with comics. It shows a case study conducted at kindergarten, in the Greater ABC region, which had methodological procedures: the field observation and recordings; the oral reports of children; analysis of the official documents of the Municipal Administration of Education and the documents of preschool; an interview with a comic artist, and analysis of comics produced by children. It supports that boys and girls actively take part in their societies. In fact, not only do they reproduce the adult world culture, but also produce child cultures. It demonstrates that comics are part and parcel of childhood as a symbolic resource to be shared among adults and children. It points out that identity patterns and values are in the spotlight, suggesting that gender boundaries are to be redrawn. In sum, the article prompts further reflections on childhood, the media and gender. Keywords: Childhood. Gender. FAMILY FUNCTIONING AND RISK BEHAVIORS IN ADOLESCENTS: A DIAGNOSTIC STUDY ABSTRACT A non-experimental cross-sectional descriptive investigation was carried out with the objective of characterizing the current state of family functioning and risk behaviors in the adolescent members of the club that lives in the Fatima Health Center of the Portoviejo Canton. The procedure for selecting the sample to determine its distribution with respect to the population was of an intentional non-probabilistic type, being conformed by 53 adolescents who had the authorization of the parents with previous research information. For the diagnosis of family functioning, the FF-SILL scale was applied and the identification of risk behaviors was carried out by means of a survey prepared for these purposes. The results obtained showed that families with ranges of children between 3-5 and more than 6 children and a single-parent and extensive nuclear family structure were the most affected in terms of family functioning, as well as alcohol consumption, inappropriate sexual behavior and intrafamily violence were the risk behaviors with the highest incidence. These results demonstrate the need for the design of a proposal for comprehensive family intervention aimed at strengthening family functioning as a protective factor against risk behaviors in adolescents. Abstract:
Epidemiologia. Papanicolau. AbstractCervical cancer presents a high mortality rate among women and its emergence is influenced by several factors. However, regular medical follow-up is essential to detect this neoplasm on early stages, increasing the chances of cure. Pap smear is the best medical procedure during the follow-up. This study aimed to evaluate the cytological profile of women attended at two Basic Health Units (BHU) in Presidente Médici city located at Rondônia state. 214 cytopathology exams from both BHU were evaluated. One of the BHU was located in the urban area, while the other one in the countryside. We found that the presence of a countryside unit was an important health access for local population. The exam was performed in different age groups, including women under 24 years, reflecting the early sexual debut, however the predominant age group was between 24-34 years. Most patients were rural residents and presented changes in the uterine cervix. The prevailed symptom was the glandular epithelium, characterized by a large local inflammation. For microbiota, coccus and lactobacillus were the most frequent microorganisms found. The great importance of Pap smear examination requires attention from government health programs, because it was evident in this study that most of test results showed uterine cervix changes, in spite of 98.6% of the tests were negative for neoplasm. Abstract:
Dissection of Para rectal plane is an imperative step in the total mesorectal excision (TME) of rectal cancer. With the advent of laparoscopic surgery more and more such procedures are being performed by key-hole manner. While performing the operation, the surgeon comes across many vital structures which lie around the pararectal plane. One of them is hypogastric plexus. Injury to this nerve plexus during surgery may lead to sexual dysfunctions in patients with rectal cancer challenging.

Abstract:
A survey on the incidence and the therapeutic procedures of the canine transmissible venereal tumor, the sticker’s lymphosarcoma Abstract A survey has been carried out on the incidence by breed, age, sex and dogs wondering habits of the canine transmissible venereal tumor (TVT) and the therapeutic procedures to which they were submitted. The survey was carried out during 1998 in 52 Veterinary Clinics from Curitiba and its Metropolitan Region. Among 42 cases of TVT recorded during that year, 61.9% (n = 26) were female and 38.09 (n = 16) male dogs. The higher incidence of TVT in female dogs may be due to the fact that they stay abandoned or wondering in streets. Among the therapeutic procedures used for the treatment of TVT bearing dogs, surgical neoplasia citoreduction is frequently used previously to the administration of anticancerous drugs. A weekly intravenous administration of Vincristine - 0.5 - 1.0 mg/m2 - during 6 successive weeks, constitutes the best option for the treatment and control of TNT. No bad effects, recidivism and/or metastasis were found in dogs subjected to this therapeutic procedure.

Abstract:
New Reproductive Technologies: redefining Nature and Culture Abstract Anthropology has discussed Nature/Culture opposition through the analysis of the new reproductive technologies, medical procedures aiming at conception which replace sexual intercourse. According to Schneider’s hypothesis, Western notions of kinship will change if Science discovers new facts regarding biogenetic relationships, which is the basis of American kinship conception. Technologies’ assistance questions not only the natural aspect of the reproductive process, by broadening the margin of choice in the reproduction and constitution of kin, but also compromises the definition of nature as conditions of life from which intervention is absent. The article is based on ethnographic observation and interviews with professionals and patients dealing with assisted reproduction and conventional infertility treatment, and analyses their discourse. The text focuses on how notions of personhood and kinship related to the new reproductive technologies refer to the concepts of Nature and Culture.

Abstract:
Abstract Gender violence has been characterized as a social problem within the framework of a system of relations of domination of men over women, which consequently generates physical, sexual or psychological damage, through actions that cause suffering. The objective of this study was to analyze gender violence in Latin America from a theoretical perspective, considering the execution modalities, the strategies used for its prevention and eradication in order to generate foundations based on recent publications. The base methodology was the bibliographic, critical, and documentary review. The descriptive-argumentative method was used. To collect the information, the following databases were used: Latindex, Redalyc, Scielo, Scopus, and Dialnet. Gender violence has historically been related to women, affecting them in different areas, economic, political, social, cultural. National laws and their strategies for prevention and eradication are based on international standards, however, despite the efforts made, reports of alarming figures are evidenced that show weaknesses in the implementation or execution of procedures adopted in the region to apply the current regulations that guarantee and protect the rights of women to live a life free of violence.

Abstract:
BackgroundThe second most common cancer in women up to 65 years of age is cervical cancer. Same cancer is the leading cause of death from gynaecological deseases worldwide. The standard procedure for cervical cancer treatment with FIGO stage including IB2 is radical hysterectomy sec. Wertheim-Meigs-Novak with or without adnexa with radical pelvic lymphadenectomy and/or para-aortic lymphadenectomy. In the last two decades has with the development of laparoscopy also developed laparoscopic radical hysterectomy .Laparoscopic radical hysterectomy with pelvic and para-aortic lymph nodes dissection was performed for the first time by Nezhat with coworkers in 1989.Laparoscopic radical hysterectomy with pelvic and/or paraaortic lymphnode dissection in treatement of cervical cancer including FIGO stage IB1 is performed at Dep Ob/Gyn UKC Ljubljana since 2013. The purpose of this article is to evaluate the morbidity and safety of the procedure. MethodsWe retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients with cervical cancer who underwent laparoscopic radical histerectomy with pelvic and/or paraaortic lymphadenectomy from April 2013 to May 2016. Results34 patient were included, 32 patients with CC FIGO stage IB1, 1 patient with CC FIGO stage IB2, 1 patient with CC FIGO stage IIB.There were four (11,8%) bladder lesions, all of them were corrected during the surgery, but no ureteral lesion! There was one (2,9%) surgical revision right after the surgery due to assumption of bleeding (though there was no active bleeding found).Three patients (8,8%) had permanent urinary dysfunction – retention. One patient (2,9%) had dehiscence of vaginal vault after 4 months (after sexual intercourse)There was no ureterovaginal/vesicovaginl fistula after surgery! The mean operating time was 2 hours 55 min, mean admission time after surgery was 8,7 days, mean blood loss during operation was 291 ml. ConclusionsLaparoscopic radical hysterectomy is the method of choice in cervical tumors including FIGO stage IB1.Percentage of bladder lesions is part of learning curve. Our goal in future is to decrease the percentage of bladder lesions and to decrease the percentage of patients suffering from bladder dysfunction by using „nerve sparing“ technic. We expect, the same results for 5 year survival rate as with patients treated with classical radical hysterectomy.

Abstract:
The child abuse in its various forms, physical, sexual and psychological violence, is a complex phenomenon, potentially able to alter not only the natural development of the subject abused, but also his ability to relate to others. This paper aims to point out the way that the child has to take from the moment he decided to take over being a victim of abuse at the time when it is called to testify about the abuse right away, with all the difficulties that this witness implies, not only for the child himself, but also for those who are called upon to decide and rule on the quality of that testimony. The art. 196 of the current Code of Criminal Procedure recognizes everyone the ability to testify, then, including minors. Nothing therefore prevents the operators from taking information from a child in criminal trials. Moreover, investigators have wide discretion not only "if" hearing the minor, but also on the methods to do it. This entails serious risks on the authenticity of the evidential result: mnestic lability, suggestibility, tendency to pander to the interlocutor's expectations, all of which are typical factors of the minor that can compromise the correct reconstruction of the facts.
