The library of parts and components is building up with NX/Open development tools based on the three-dimensional design software platform. According to this method, the master model technique is integrated with top-down modeling method to facilitate the parameterized modeling and variant design of product family. The parameterized modeling process is also demonstrated in details in this paper. As an example, a tools management system for NC machine tools rapid design is developed. Abstract:
This paper presents the design method for complex helical drill point. Different from the conventional helical drill point generated by simultaneous rotation and translation of the drill blank, the complex helical drill point is ground by a supplementary swinging. Associated with these movements a series of grinding parameters are defined. There is another set of structural parameters, characteristic values (chisel angle, point angle, and clearance angle) manifesting the behavioral requirements of a drill. Relationships between these two sets of parameters are shown in curves. In accordance with drilling requirements, appropriate grinding parameters can be selected. The reliability of the proposed method is verified by drill point grinding experiment and measurement.

Abstract:
This paper presents a new low-power parameterized hardware design for the one-dimensional (1D) discrete Fourier transform (DFT) of variable lengths. By combining the cyclic convolution formulation, block-based distributed arithmetic (BDA), and Cooley–Tukey decomposition algorithm together, we have developed a parameterized hardware design for the DFT of variable lengths ranging from 256 to 4096 points and with different modes of performance. The proposed design can perform different lengths of DFT computation through the configuration of parameters, which not only provides the flexibility in computing different length DFT but also facilitates the performance-driven design considerations in terms of power consumption and processing speeds, that is, we can configure the proposed design in different modes of performance by setting different parameters. This feature is beneficial to developing a parameterized DFT soft Intellectual Property (IP) core or hard IP core for meeting the system requirements of different silicon-on-a-chip (SOC) applications as compared with the existing fixed length DFT designs.

Abstract:
AbstractProcedural noise functions are fundamental tools in computer graphics used for synthesizing virtual geometry and texture patterns. Ideally, a procedural noise function should be compact, aperiodic, parameterized, and randomly accessible. Traditional lattice noise functions such as Perlin noise, however, exhibit periodicity due to the axial correlation induced while hashing the lattice vertices to the gradients. In this paper, we introduce a parameterized lattice noise called prime gradient noise (PGN) that minimizes discernible periodicity in the noise while enhancing the algorithmic efficiency. PGN utilizes prime gradients, a set of random unit vectors constructed from subsets of prime numbers plotted in polar coordinate system. To map axial indices of lattice vertices to prime gradients, PGN employs Szudzik pairing, a bijection F : ℕ2 → ℕ. Compositions of Szudzik pairing functions are used in higher dimensions. At the core of PGN is the ability to parameterize noise generation though prime sequence offsetting which facilitates the creation of fractal noise with varying levels of heterogeneity ranging from homogeneous to hybrid multifractals. A comparative spectral analysis of the proposed noise with other noises including lattice noises show that PGN significantly reduces axial correlation and hence, periodicity in the noise texture. We demonstrate the utility of the proposed noise function with several examples in procedural modeling, parameterized pattern synthesis, and solid texturing.

Abstract:
Current programming languages support construction of parameterized reusable components that can be adapted and composed to create new functionality. For widespread reuse, software components must also have readily adaptable performance. This paper introduces language mechanisms for creating such performance-parameterized reusable software components and for controlling their performance by "plugging in" appropriate constituent components. A key element of the proposed approach is that it provides inexpensive performance tuning. It permits performance of a tunable component to be changed without modifications to the functionality of the component or its clients; in principle, without the need for re-compilation or re-validation of functionality.

Abstract:
With the constraints on manufacturing capacity, the satisfaction of product performance and the cost of manufacture are contradictory, the problem between high-performance and low-cost must be solved at the period of design and manufacture for product. To solve this problem, the product loss model has been analyzed, the parameterized and non-parameterized model of anticipant losses has been researched, with concurrent design, in connection with the product with multiple correlated assembly functional dimensions, the relation function between quality loss and process dimension tolerance has been provided, the concurrent tolerance design mathematical model based on lowest-cost and quality loss has been established. The applied case shows that this method has important guiding significance for engineering application.

Abstract:
In order to efficiently design a fixture, it is necessary to establish a standard fixel library for CAFD system. Therefore, a SQL Server-based development technology is first employed to manage the parameterized fixel models. And then, in order to construct a fixel model, MFC is adopted to carry out the secondary development of Unigraph environment. Thus, arbitrary fixel can be dimension-drive designed according to a parameterized fixel model. The establishment of the fixel library can to a great extent reduce the trivial and repetitive tasks in the fixture design.

Abstract:
The ordinary screw designed in traditional method will increase the power consumption and decrease the juice yield in the process of squeeze. Presented the system design of juice extractor firstly, then used the UG software and dimension driving technology to construct the 3d model entity of the screw with variable pitches and diameters, followed by systems three-dimensional model. Finished the static analysis of the screw blade by ANSYS, completing a follow-up study of parameterized modeling.

Abstract:
In order to make the spiral drum has a good performance and human-computer interaction function. This paper made the spiral drum module division base on the modularization theory and parametric design. Built the 3 D parametric model of spiral drum by Pro / E software, completed the assembly of spiral drum parts, and analyzed the interference of each component, consequently, improved the accuracy of the design. It also can made parametric driving for relative modular as user different needs for spiral drum design. namely, it can got the 3-D model and assembly drawing, and can achieve the goal of improving the drum design efficiency.
