Abstract:
We establish elements of a new approach to ellipticity and parametrices within operator algebras on manifolds with higher singularities, only based on some general axiomatic requirements on parameter-dependent operators in suitable scales of spaes. The idea is to model an iterative process with new generations of parameter-dependent operator theories, together with new scales of spaces that satisfy analogous requirements as the original ones, now on a corresponding higher level. The "full" calculus involves two separate theories, one near the tip of the corner and another one at the conical exit to infinity. However, concerning the conical exit to infinity, we establish here a new concrete calculus of edge-degenerate operators which can be iterated to higher singularities.<br>Wir führen einen neuen Zugang ein zu Elliptizität und Parametrices in Operatorenalgebren auf Mannigfaltigkeiten mit höheren Singularitäten, nur basierend auf allgemeinen axiomatischen Voraussetzungen über parameter-abhängige Operatoren in geeigneten Skalen von Räumen. Die Idee besteht darin, ein iteratives Verfahren zu modellieren mit neuen Generationen von parameter-abhängigen Operatortheorien, zusammen mit neuen Skalen von Räumen, die analoge Voraussetzungen erfüllen wie die ursprünglichen Objekte, jetzt auf dem entsprechenden höheren Niveau. Der „volle“ Kalkül besteht aus zwei separaten Theorien, eine nahe der Spitze der Ecke und eine andere am konischen Ausgang nach Unendlich. Allerdings, bezüglich des konischen Ausgangs nach Unendlich, bauen wir hier einen neuen konkreten Kalkül von kanten-entarteten Operatoren auf, der für höhere Singularitäten iteriert werden kann.

The master´s thesis deals with theoretical research and practical application of the principle of spreading acoustic waves through nonlinear medium. The theoretical part describes five different types of amplitude modulation and their mathematic representation, which were verified by the program Matlab. Next, the impedance characteristic of ultrasound PZT transducer was measured and the design of PWM modulator and class D amplifier was described. The practical part of the master´s thesis contains the realization of the parametric loudspeaker assembled from the class D amplifier and the PWM modulator. In conclusion, the designed parametric loudspeaker was measured and the individual types of amplitude modulation were compared with respect to the total harmonic distortion of transmitted useful signal.

The present final thesis discusses the transmission of a narrowly directional parametric sound beam through an amplitude-modulated ultrasonic wave, utilizing the effect of auto-demodulation in a nonlinear medium and ensuring the subsequent processing of the input signal for the parametric sound transmitter. Emphasis is placed on the mathematical tools that relate to parametric sound transmission in a nonlinear medium. The basic part of the thesis describes a parametric speaker and the associated amplitude modulation techniques, which constitute a major prerequisite for the processing of the transmitted signal. In the following section, the author then analyzes the computational intensity of these techniques, considering applicable hardware approaches. Finally, the fabrication and practical use of the proposed solution are discussed, including the measurement of typical parameters such as the spatial radiation characteristics, total harmonic distortion, and transmission channel bandwidth.

The dynamic responses of TTRs in the deep water were studied considering coupled the random heave of platform and VIV. The random parametric excitation is set up considering the random motion of platform. The vortex lift force is calculated with the time-varying lift coefficient based on the Van der Pol drafting oscillator model. The equation of coupled VIV and parametric excitation vibration (PEV) is established and the program of solving coupled PEV and VIV is developed. The coupled dynamic response induced by random parametrical excitation and VIV is calculated for the TTR of Truss Spar, and the dynamic characteristics are investigated. The results show that the random parametrical excitation can magnify the dynamic response of TTRs, and it will change the main frequency of TTRs vibration.

This paper describes the application of KIII, a biologically more plausible neural network model, for forecasting economic time series. K-sets are connectionist models based on neural populations and have been used in many machine learning applications. In this paper, this method was applied to IPCA, a Brazilian consumer price index surveyed by IBGE. The values ranged from August 1994 to June 2017. Experiments were performed using four non-parametric models and seven parametric methods. The statistical metric RMSE was used to compare methods performance. Freeman KIII sets worked well as a filter, but it was not a good prediction method. This paper contributes with the use of non-parametrics models for forecasting inflation in a developing country.

Abstract Recent collaborations with graduate students in Mechanical Engineering at Brigham Young University and industry, such as United Technologies (OTIS and Pratt &amp; Whitney) and Honeywell (AlliedSignal) have resulted in significant advancements to the interactive and programmatic parametric design methodologies. This paper presents the basics of interactive parametric CAD design as a point-of-departure for our discussion of the programmatic approach. Further it will discuss the advantages and problems of using a programmatic parametric design approach to reduce design cycle time. This programmatic parametric approach involves the combination of vendor provided interactive CAD parametrics and native CAD toolkit development and customization. Finally it will focus on the advantages and drawbacks of this schema by using joint educational/ industrial examples. These advantages include improvements in the design/analysis/ manufacture process as well as in the overall communication between different engineering load centers. The time and resource commitment to custom CAD development has haunted industry for decades. However, through new techniques and interfaces being explored and developed at BYU we propose a new graphical user interface for custom programming of CAD. This paper discusses the advantages that such an interface would have in reducing programming time and allowing the program to interoperate between multiple CAD packages with varying graphic kernels.

Abstract A shape optimization capability which is fully integrated with geometry data is developed in this paper. A key feature of the system is the direct use of parametric solid model as the primary design model for shape optimization. This choice leads to a tight coupling between optimization and geometry, a highly desirable feature for an automated design environment. The approach exploits the parametric engine of the solid modeler to update the geometry at the end of each iteration. Responses are generated using polyFEM, a p-adaptive solver supported by a fully automatic three dimensional p-element mesh generator. It is illustrated that the use of p-adaptive technology and parametrized solid model assist us in achieving a high degree of automation.

In spite of the many advantages of the C-technologies, on several areas a deficit in its dissemination and effective usage still is noticed. The following paper will give an overview on how the parametrical, feature based 3D-CAD-modeler may support the engineering design process. It is described, which functionality the parametric functions of these modelers are offering to the user and how the work with parametrical CAD-systems is structured. Advises are given for a more competitive implementation and time saving work with these systems.
