En el presente trabajo desarrollo un modelo que une las literaturas de movilidad intergeneracional y assortative mating. Dicho modelo me permite analizar la elasticidad de ingresos padre-hijo desde una perspectiva un poco más amplia y más completa de lo que hasta ahora se ha hecho en Chile. Con datos de la Encuesta CASEN para los años 1990 y 2006, estimo un coeficiente para la correlación intergeneracional de ingresos de entre 0.5 y 0.69. Al mismo tiempo, estimo un coeficiente de correlación intrageneracional de ingresos de alrededor de 0.6, que coincide con el parámetro de assortative mating

A questionnaire based on McCullagh et al.'s (1993) study of recreational soccer players was used along with open-ended questions. The questionnaire was administered to parents of children who were involved in a private gymnastics club.
