A thesis presented on Parmenides of Elea, born in 510 B.C.E., serves as a muse for my studies in education. I find his fragments and specifically his poem, “On Nature,” to be very captivating as a metaphor for education and for life. Specifically, his work points towards the importance of being on a journey in quest of knowledge. I utilize his metaphor as a quest in a personal educational journey and also in an academic one that can be applied to the searches of others. Chapters 1-4 focus on their generic status, as it is indicated by their form, content, and use of intertextuality. I suggest that the work of all three poets can be seen to draw upon the distinctive traditions of hexameter poetry on the one hand, and Ionian prose on the other. Abstract:

Abstract:
This bachelor thesis engages in a quest to understand the concepts of necessity and grace in Simone Weils thinking. The question in play, in which many more questions lie hidden, reads as follows: How does Weil understand the operations of grace in relation to the ”blind necessity” of the natural world, and what are the philosophical implications of this concept of grace? What are, for instance, given her understanding of the world as God’s creation, the metaphysical grounds for a basic human activitiy such as thinking or reflexion? A reading of Simone Weils works on necessity, grace, afflicti

Abstract:
Contemporary interpretations of the second part of Plato's Parmenides have excluded consideration of a pro-Eleatic intent, on Plato's part, on the grounds that Eleaticism advocates a monism inconsistent with the pluralism implicit in this part of the dialogue. Some recent interpreters of Eleaticism have suggested interpretations of the Parmenidean doctrine that are accommodating of pluralism, in varying degrees. If such interpretations are viable, then the way is cleared for a Pro- Eleatic Interpretation of the second part of Plato's Parmenides. There is historical evidence for the
