Abstract:
Abstract This thesis explores the integration of work practice and system design in deliberating upon how to increase the sensitivity of system design towards everyday work practice. The attempt to make work practice visible and intelligible for system design necessarily relates to two very different bodies of knowledge: the actual work activities and knowledge of practitioners, and what is considered relevant information for requirements analysis in system design. The strategy of this work comprises the integration of ethnographically informed study of work practice and participatory des

This thesis explores the feasibility of participant-produced photography to augment therapeutic interventions for people with intellectual disabilities (ID). A systematic literature review was undertaken to determine the evidence base underpinning the use of participant-produced photography within therapeutic settings. A systematic search of peer-reviewed journals identified 13 relevant papers. Participant-produced photography showed promise, although evidence pertaining specifically to people with ID was sparse. Abstract:
This research study examined male participants' experiences of receiving contact during group-based psychotherapy interventions. According to the literature, there is no empirical information on the effects of receiving contact, specifically with male therapy groups, and inclusion of receiving contact as an intervention variable for trauma processing. A qualitative multiple case study research design was used, and included analysis to identify contact experiences, and frequencies of common contact codes from the participants. Evidence synthesis is considered a corner stone of modern health care and clinical practice. Systematic reviews of randomised trials, when undertaken with meta-analysis provide summary estimates on the effectiveness of interventions. However, the findings of meta-analysis are often limited by the selective reporting of primary studies, and the variations in population, intervention and outcomes. Furthermore, difficulties in disentangling the study and individual level associations in meta-analysis make them susceptible to ecological fallacy, and may lead to incorrect conclusions. Men are frequently portrayed as lacking the ability to recognise, own and find words with which to express their feeling experiences; this is captured by the term alexithymia (Levant, Hall, Williams, & Hasan, 2009). Defined by ‘restrictive emotionality’, alexithymia literally indicates ‘without words for emotions’. Roland Levant has contended that men who are strongly influence
