Abstract:
The purpose of this work is to model a participating forward contract permitting to avoid unlimited risk and unknown loss using a formula of risk sharing that includes the payment of an additional amount under specific price variations. This contract offers a new tool that Islamic finance can use since this finance is suspicious of classical forward contracts. The modeling is based on the classical forward equation, which incorporates the profit and loss sharing principle derived from Islamic finance. The participating forward is tested on oil data prices to compare the participating forward contract to the classical one. The participating forward offers a better possibility of profit to the seller and the buyer because of the PLS mechanism which reduces the risk for both parties. The main implication of this modeling is that the participating forward can provide some investors and Islamic banks with an alternative to conventional forward contracts.

The Union list of art, architecture and design serials, an online database of periodicals on fine and applied arts, film and television held by academic, public, national and special libraries throughout the UK and Ireland, has been some ten years in the making and work is still progressing. In autumn 2000 funding was obtained to allow for greater progress on this critical research tool, extending the coverage of participating libraries and enhancing the bibliographical records. However the work of increasing the level of participation in the Union list has largely been taken forward by direct approaches to individual institutions and by July 2002 there will be over 60 participating libraries as well as fuller bibliographic citations.

Background: Patients in mental care express a wish for more active participation. Shared decision-making is a way of increasing patient participation. There is lack of research into what the shared decision-making process means and how the patients can participate in and experience it in the context of mental care. Objective: To describe patient participation in shared decision-making in the context of indoor mental care. Method: A qualitative content analysis of data from in-depth interviews with 16 patients was performed. Results: One main theme was revealed: thriving in relation to participating actively in a complementary ensemble of care, which represented the red thread between 2 themes: having mental space to discover my way forward and being in a position to express my case. Conclusion: Patients can participate actively in shared decision-making when the patients’ and the mental health-care professionals’ joint expertise is applied throughout their mental care. The patients experience thriving when participating actively in a complementary ensemble of care.

Abstract:
In advancing children’s rights, and human rights more broadly, this article supports the view that participation through deliberation by children is desirable. Practising Philosophy with Children, through an approach such as Community of Philosophical Inquiry, is proposed as a powerful way forward as a rights-based means of supporting children to deliberate about matters affecting them in society. In considering that children are educated about, through and for rights, an example of children’s philosophical dialogue is provided to illustrate children deliberating on rights issues, and how teachers might use such dialogue to influence their teaching in this area. The suggestion is that participating in practical philosophy enables children to practise human rights behaviour as a means of participating beyond consultation exercises and as an approach to facilitating their engagement with ideas and issues that are important to the promotion of rights for all.

<p>Contrast of the participation model and the traditional model of care in rooming effect of neonatal care. <strong>Methods:</strong> 114 cases of early maternal care group to tradition who admitted in our hospital from January 2014 to June 2014 were treated using the traditional way of nursing care. 120 cases of early maternal located to participating group who admitted in our hospital from July 2014 to December 2014 were treated using the participatory model of care. Traditional nursing care group were treated with the traditional way of newborn care, completed by nurses alone. The participating group and their families were adopted early maternal and neonatal nurses who have completed nursing. <strong>Results:</strong> Maternal traditional care group was included reasonable scientific feeding newborns, changing diapers for the newborn, the newborn’s umbilical cord care and scientific numerical example of bathing newborns were less than the participating group. Number of maternal adaptation in the traditional care group is an example of the role of mother to the participating group. The number of cases of the traditional care group was more suitable to group together to participate and satisfaction score was less than that of the participating group. <strong>Conclusion: </strong>The both rooming model participation of neonatal care, its human and scientific characteristics can effectively improve maternal care for newborns and their families to improve maternal postpartum depression and mood, which will become the future postpartum. The main mode of care is worth in clinical GF to take forward.</p>

Abstract The system of teacher education management, namely, forms and principles of teacher education management according to the normative base (Education Reform Act (1988); Education Act (1992; 1993; 1996; 1997; 2002); School Standards and Framework Act (1998); Higher Education Act (2004), etc.), monitoring and participation of the public in its management have been analyzed. It has been proved that lately the democratization process in British education management has been combined with the increased attention of the state to monitoring, requirements to appropriate activity of educational establishments and trends seem to be forward education quality enhancing, democratization of evaluation, monitoring and information providing processes. Changes in education management in the historical context have been considered. The organizations participating in education management in Great Britain have been outlined. The data has been presented that enabled to distinguish similarities and differences in the functioning of the organizations participating in education management in Great Britain and ensure the existing of independent management authorities within them.

We use the Garman-Kohlhagen model to compute the hedge and price of a participating forward contract on the US dollar that is written by a Turkish Bank. The algorithm is computed using actual market data and a weekly updated hedge is computed. We note that despite a weekly update and many assumptions made on the volatility and the interest rates the model gives a very reasonable hedge.

This degree project involves a self-reflective analysis of an Australian Centre forInternational Agricultural Research (ACIAR) funded multimedia series. I produced thework in 2017, about the impact achieved in an agricultural research for developmentproject, working with cattle farmers in Indonesia. Depuis la succession des récentes crises financières, les « dérivés de crédit » connaissent une notoriété médiatique très intense qui dépasse la seule sphère des spécialistes. Créés au début des années 1990, ils sont des instruments financiers de transfert du risque de crédit. Ils autorisent tant la protection que la spéculation. Ils sont juridiquement documentés par des conventions-Cadres proposées par l’International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), et dans une très petite mesure, par la Fédération Bancaire Française en France. Ils regroupent cinq grandes catégories de contrat : « credit default swap » ou « contrat d’échange sur le risque de crédit », « credit linked notes » ou « dérivé de crédit titrisé », « credit spread option » ou « option sur écart de taux », « credit spread forward » ou « dérivé sur écart de taux » et « total rate of return swap » ou « dérivé de transfert total de rendement ». La nature et la diversité des « dérivés de crédit » posent depuis toujours de sérieuses difficultés de qualification dans de nombreux pays. En droit français, si une qualification commune semble émerger, celle d’instrument financier, elle est hélas insuffisante à apporter un régime juridique complet. Un travail complémentaire de qualification est indispensable pour chaque contrat membre des « dérivés de crédit »
Nowadays, since financial crisis, « credit derivatives » are famous. Born in 1990’s, they transfer the credit risk. They are speculation’s instrument or margin’s instrument. International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), and the Fédération Bancaire Française (in France), point to pattern juridical agreement. Credit derivatives include five big sort of agreement : « credit default swap » (« contrat d’échange sur le risque de crédit »), « credit linked notes » (« dérivé de crédit titrisé »), « credit spread option » (« option sur écart de taux »), « credit spread forward » (« dérivé sur écart de taux ») and « total rate of return swap » (« dérivé de transfert total de rendement »). Their variety and essence ask difficult question of juridical appreciation in many countries. In French law, credit derivatives are « instrument financier ». But this juridical appreciation is incomplete. Every sort of agreement must being individually studies

Abstract Over the last three decades, policy-makers have developed numerous measures, policies, projects and programs with the intention to increase the enrolment and participation of underrepresented groups, however, little is known about the ways in which such initiatives shape opportunities for potential students. Knowing which of these initiatives work and whether they are achieving their intended goals is of utmost importance for policy-makers across Europe. This paper aims to collect, document, scrutinize and critically analyze the current research literature which assesses the effectiveness of different public initiatives at Higher Education Institutions’ (HEIs) level for widening access for underrepresented groups and, at the same time, to identify gaps and make recommendations for potential further research. The 17 identified studies can be categorized based on the access measures they analyze: (1) outreach, counselling and mentoring of prospective students; (2) financial aid measures, and (3) preparatory courses and programs. The findings show that there are little research and information about the actual outcomes of most measures to increase access to HE. We found a lack of adequate, reliable and consistently collected data about the policy instruments already put to practice. Since there is no excuse for the lack of effective action towards more equitable educational systems, more evidence-based approaches will be necessary to learn from these specific access measures and move forward towards more efficient equity policies.

Abstract:
The Monte Carlo (MC) method has been widely used to solve radiative transfer problems due to its flexibility and simplicity in simulating the energy transport process in arbitrary geometries with complex boundary conditions. However, the major drawback of the conventional (or forward) Monte Carlo method is the long computational time for converged solution. Reverse or backward Monte Carlo (RMC) is considered as an alternative approach when solutions are only needed at certain locations and time. The reverse algorithm is similar to the conventional method, except that the energy bundle (photons ensemble) is tracked in a time-reversal manner. Its migration is recorded from the detector into the participating medium, rather than from the source to the detector as in the conventional MC. There is no need to keep track of the bundles that do not reach a particular detector. Thus, RMC method takes up much less computation time than the conventional MC method. On the other hand, RMC will generate less information about the transport process as only the information at the specified locations, e.g., detectors, is obtained. In the situation where detailed information of radiative transport across the media is needed the RMC may not be appropriate. RMC algorithm is most suitable for diagnostic applications where inverse analysis is required, e.g., optical imaging and remote sensing. In this study, the development of a reverse Monte Carlo method for transient radiative transfer is presented. The results of non-emitting, absorbing, and anisotropically scattering media subjected to an ultra short light pulse irradiation are compared with the forward Monte Carlo and discrete ordinates methods results.

Managerial Skills to Engineers is an optative subject placed on last degree course. Students have passed on second course “Organization Foundations” as only subject about management contents. So, it was proposed with the aim of developing main managerial skills thinking of their professional future, highlighting among them communication skills clearly. On fact, during quotidian engineer’s work on plant they need leading groups, participating on meetings, negotiating with clients, suppliers, etc. Communication constitutes a basic pillar for personnel and professional engineer’s future success. In this paper most relevant results reached during three last years have been gathered up, all of it considering actual constraints have advised us to improve each year step by step consolidating each one before moving forward.

Abstract:
Retrieval of vertical rain structure and hence the estimation of surface rain rate is of central importance to various missions involving remote sensing of the earth’s atmosphere. Typically, remote sensing involves scanning the earth’s atmosphere at visible, infra red and microwave frequencies. While the visible and infra red frequencies can scan the atmosphere with higher spatial resolution, they are not suited for scanning under cloudy conditions as clouds are opaque under these frequencies. However, the longer wavelength microwave radiation can partially penetrate through the clouds without much attenuation thereby making it more suitable for meteorological purposes. The retrieval algorithms used for passive microwave remote sensing involve modeling of the radiation in the earth’s atmosphere where in the clouds and precipitating rain (also known as hydrometeors) emit / absorb / scatter. Additionally, it has been observed that the rain droplets tend to polarize the microwave signal emitted by the earth’s surface. In view of this, the first step in the development of a rainfall retrieval algorithm for any satellite mission is to simulate the radiances (also known as brightness temperatures) that would have been measured by a typical radiometer for different sensor frequencies and resolutions. Towards this, a polarized microwave radiation transfer code has been developed in house for a plane parallel raining atmosphere (henceforth called as forward model) that depicts the physics as seen by a satellite. Physics based retrieval algorithm often involves repeated execution of the forward model for various raining scenario. However, due to the complexity involved in the radiation modeling of the raining atmosphere which is participating in nature, the forward model suffers from the drawback that it requires enormous computational effort. In the present work, a much quicker alternative is proposed wherein the forward model can be replaced with an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based Fast Forward Model (AFFM). This AFFM can be used in conjunction with an appropriate inverse technique to retrieve the rain structure. Spectral microwave brightness temperatures at frequencies corresponding to the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) are first simulated using an in-house polarized radiate on transfer code for sixteen past cyclones in the North Indian Ocean region in the period (2000–2005), using the hydrometeor profiles retrieved from the Goddard Profiling Algorithm (GPROF) of the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM)’s Microwave Imager (TMI). This data is split into two sets: while the first set of data is used for training the network, the remainder of the data is used for testing the ANN. The results obtained are very encouraging and shows that neural network is capable of predicting the brightness temperature accurately with the correlation coefficient of over 99%. Furthermore, the execution of the forward model on an Intel Core 2 Quad 3.0 GHz processor based, 8 GB DDR3 RAM workstation took 3 days, while the AFFM delivers the results in 10 seconds.

Abstract:
Abstract Structure-Borne Traveling Waves (SBTWs) have significant promise as a means of underwater propulsion, drag reduction, and solid-state motion. However, there is poor understanding of how to tailor SBTWs favorable for these applications. This study establishes guidelines and a straight-forward method for generating favorable SBTWs on two-dimensional (2D) surfaces. SBTWs are a novel traveling wave generation method that take advantage of a surface’s inherent structural properties (i.e. mode shapes and natural frequencies). Due to this novel mechanism, SBTWs have significant advantages over other traveling wave methods. This includes active variability (propagation direction, frequency, wavelength), no reliance on complex control mechanisms, and a minimal actuation footprint (small size and weight). SBTWs utilize the two-mode excitation method, whereby a surface is harmonically excited at two locations with a phase offset between them. Due to the phase offset, participating mode shapes superimpose to yield steady-state traveling waves that do not reflect at the boundaries. A SBTW at a given frequency has an optimal phase offset that maximizes the quality; however, high quality does not ensure favorability for a specific application. For propulsion and solid-state motion applications, favorable SBTWs are those that have a uniform propagation direction and consistent amplitude. Using a previously validated electro-mechanical model of a 2D plate, this study demonstrates the generation of SBTWs favorable for such applications. It is shown that the frequency bandwidth can be divided into regions, and each region is classified as generating favorable or unfavorable SBTWs. The favorability of each region is defined by which mode shapes participate. Two guidelines are established that define which combinations of mode shapes yield favorable SBTWs. These guidelines are fundamental in nature, implying that they can be extended to generate favorable SBTWs on any thin-walled surface. This signifies that geometries with tailored SBTWs can be designed to target specific applications (e.g. underwater propulsion, drag reduction, and solid-state motion).

Recently, the Modal Decomposition and Reconstruction (MDR) algorithm was developed to accurately estimate fatigue damage in marine risers based on measured acceleration and angular rates at several locations. The greatest benefit for drilling risers can be derived by incorporating the method in an online, fully automated system. In this way, fatigue damage estimates are available to the crew on the rig in real-time for risk quantification and mitigation. To this end, the MDR routine was implemented for online assessment of fatigue damage along the entire riser from acceleration and angular rate measurements at typically 5–10 elevations. This paper discusses the architecture, highlights some measured data and provides results for modes, stress and fatigue damage rate for the Chikyu drilling vessel during two scientific drilling campaigns. These campaigns occurred at the Shimokita site (1180-meter water depth) and the Nankai trough site (1939-meter water depth). To the authors’ knowledge, real-time fatigue monitoring of the entire riser has not been accomplished previously. Robust incorporation of the MDR algorithm into an online computational environment is detailed, including incorporation of top tension and mud weight data from the rig, detection and removal of data errors, and streamlined flow of the data through the computational modules. Subsequently, it is shown by example how the measured accelerations and angular rates are used to determine excited modes, participating modes, stress distribution and fatigue damage along the entire Chikyu drilling riser in an online setting. The technology highlighted advances riser integrity management two steps forward by first using measured data at 5–10 locations and the MDR algorithm to reconstruct stress and fatigue damage along the entire riser, and secondly integrating this approach into a fully automated, real-time computational environment. As a result, drilling engineers are empowered with a tool that provides real-time data on the integrity of the drilling riser, enabling informed decisions to be made in adverse current or wave conditions. Measured data also serves as a benchmark for analytical model calibration activities, reducing conservatism in stress and fatigue in future deployments. Furthermore, cumulative fatigue damage can be tracked in each riser joint, enabling more effective joint rotation and inspection programs.

Abstract:
This article discusses the criminal procedure status of the victim on the basis of the current legislation. A number of proposals are put forward to improve the legislation to ensure the effectiveness of the victim’s participation in the criminal process. The article analyzes a number of specific legal shortcomings that reflect the procedural situation of the victim, and indicates ways to solve them. At the same time, proposals are put forward for more effective protection of the legitimate interests of the victim both during the preliminary investigation and during the trial. For example, in order to speed up the participation of the victim in the criminal process, it is proposed to include a rule that from the moment of initiation of a criminal case, the issue of recognizing the person as a victim must be resolved within 10 days. The article then discusses the victim’s right to compensation, the right to mandatory familiarization with the materials of the criminal case, and the shortcomings of the norms that reflect the legal status of the victim as a participant in the prosecution.

No person with a disability shall be left behind. This report presents suggested indicators for monitoring the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability and Agenda 2030 in the Nordic region. The vision of the Nordic cooperation is to become the most integrated and sustainable in the world by 2030. The vision mirrors the sustainable development goals of Agenda 2030, according to which no-one shall be left behind. Persons with disabilities have the right to inclusion, and the Nordic countries monitor the developments of living conditions for persons with disabilities. All countries have also ratified the Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities and have high ambitions with regard to Agenda 2030. Throughout the region we face similar challenges concerning inclusion. Participation is not equal, not in employment, nor in education, economy, or health. But to improve this we need to see it. Even if a set of indicators is not the only way forward, they can help us measure if we are on the right track. In this report, we suggest a set of indicators that could be developed further and used to follow the developments towards inclusion and measure living conditions. By developing such a set of comparable indicators in the Nordic countries, we can see whether the countries separately and collectively follow the intentions of the UNCRPD to improve the living conditions of people with disabilities. The indicators are also an aid in the work to identify whether we are working correctly to achieve the Agenda 2030 targets.

Mabrouka Hdaya is a craftswoman who has been producing bags and baskets for 20 years. Support from the Youth Participation and Employment (YPE) project helped her overcome the technical and financial obstacles that she has faced since 2018 when she started her entrepreneurial journey. YPE, in partnership with the Local Initiative and Development Forum (FIDEL), selected Mabrouka for training to improve her weaving and business management skills. As a result, she has become more confident and developed working relationships with other people in her trade. Her business was doing well until the COVID-19 pandemic affected markets. She is hopeful she will recover as soon as the markets re-open and national fairs re-start. In the meantime, she sells small quantities of her products through social media platforms and the FIDEL shop. This is the story of an entrepreneur who knows her way forward and is ready to fight uncertainties.

With its annual Payment Systems Report, Banco de la República offers a complete overview of the infrastructure of Colombia’s financial market. Each edition of the report has four objectives: 1) to publicize a consolidated account of how the figures for payment infrastructures have evolved with respect to both financial assets and goods and services; 2) to summarize the issues that are being debated internationally and are of interest to the industry that provides payment clearing and settlement services; 3) to offer the public an explanation of the ideas and concepts behind retail-value payment processes and the trends in retail payments within the circuit of individuals and companies; and 4) to familiarize the public, the industry, and all other financial authorities with the methodological progress that has been achieved through applied research to analyze the stability of payment systems. This edition introduces changes that have been made in the structure of the report, which are intended to make it easier and more enjoyable to read. The initial sections in this edition, which is the eleventh, contain an analysis of the statistics on the evolution and performance of financial market infrastructures. These are understood as multilateral systems wherein the participating entities clear, settle and register payments, securities, derivatives and other financial assets. The large-value payment system (CUD) saw less momentum in 2019 than it did the year before, mainly because of a decline in the amount of secondary market operations for government bonds, both in cash and sell/buy-backs, which was offset by an increase in operations with collective investment funds (CIFs) and Banco de la República’s operations to increase the money supply (repos). Consequently, the Central Securities Depository (DCV) registered less activity, due to fewer negotiations on the secondary market for public debt. This trend was also observed in the private debt market, as evidenced by the decline in the average amounts cleared and settled through the Central Securities Depository of Colombia (Deceval) and in the value of operations with financial derivatives cleared and settled through the Central Counterparty of Colombia (CRCC). Section three offers a comprehensive look at the market for retail-value payments; that is, transactions made by individuals and companies. During 2019, electronic transfers increased, and payments made with debit and credit cards continued to trend upward. In contrast, payments by check continued to decline, although the average daily value was almost four times the value of debit and credit card purchases. The same section contains the results of the fourth survey on how the use of retail-value payment instruments (for usual payments) is perceived. Conducted at the end of 2019, the main purpose of the survey was to identify the availability of these payment instruments, the public’s preferences for them, and their acceptance by merchants. It is worth noting that cash continues to be the instrument most used by the population for usual monthly payments (88.1% with respect to the number of payments and 87.4% in value). However, its use in terms of value has declined, having registered 89.6% in the 2017 survey. In turn, the level of acceptance by merchants of payment instruments other than cash is 14.1% for debit cards, 13.4% for credit cards, 8.2% for electronic transfers of funds and 1.8% for checks. The main reason for the use of cash is the absence of point-of-sale terminals at commercial establishments. Considering that the retail-payment market worldwide is influenced by constant innovation in payment services, by the modernization of clearing and settlement systems, and by the efforts of regulators to redefine the payment industry for the future, these trends are addressed in the fourth section of the report. There is an account of how innovations in technology-based financial payment services have developed, and it shows that while this topic is not new, it has evolved, particularly in terms of origin and vocation. One of the boxes that accompanies the fourth section deals with certain payment aspects of open banking and international experience in that regard, which has given the customers of a financial entity sovereignty over their data, allowing them, under transparent and secure conditions, to authorize a third party, other than their financial entity, to request information on their accounts with financial entities, thus enabling the third party to offer various financial services or initiate payments. Innovation also has sparked interest among international organizations, central banks, and research groups concerning the creation of digital currencies. Accordingly, the last box deals with the recent international debate on issuance of central bank digital currencies. In terms of the methodological progress that has been made, it is important to underscore the work that has been done on the role of central counterparties (CCPs) in mitigating liquidity and counterparty risk. The fifth section of the report offers an explanation of a document in which the work of CCPs in financial markets is analyzed and corroborated through an exercise that was built around the Central Counterparty of Colombia (CRCC) in the Colombian market for non-delivery peso-dollar forward exchange transactions, using the methodology of network topology. The results provide empirical support for the different theoretical models developed to study the effect of CCPs on financial markets. Finally, the results of research using artificial intelligence with information from the large-value payment system are presented. Based on the payments made among financial institutions in the large-value payment system, a methodology is used to compare different payment networks, as well as to determine which ones can be considered abnormal. The methodology shows signs that indicate when a network moves away from its historical trend, so it can be studied and monitored. A methodology similar to the one applied to classify images is used to make this comparison, the idea being to extract the main characteristics of the networks and use them as a parameter for comparison.
