Agoli-Agbo, Eliane Olga. "Les particules énonciatives du fon : les particules d'insistance." Paris, INALCO, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009INAL0022.
Full textThis thesis has studied how six Fon enunciative particles work : the six emphatic particles h. . . N "hence", sin "but", mÀ "in", lá "I insist", lóo "I am warning you", and nÁ "there". Followinf Antoine Culioli's theory of Predicative and Enunciative Operations (TOPE), each of the six particles has been studied as a marker of one or several enunciative operations. The study of these little words, often forgotten or neglected in descriptions of the Fon language, but abundantly used in everyday conversations, has been conducted each time in such a way as to examine, not only the whole of the use of the particle in the language, but also the possible links of the particle under study with terms that are phonetically identical. We have thus been able to show the transcategorial properties of some Fon lexemes (polysemy), but most of all, to reveal the polyfunctionality of several Fon emphatic particles. This study has been divided into two parts : the first one, devoted to the individual study of the five following emphatic particles h. . . N, sin, mÀ, lá and lóo. This has enabled us to identify the specific nature of the operation marked by each particles, its contribution to the construction of the meaning of the utterance it marks, which values, it gives to this utterance according to the contexts where it is used. This part is completed with a comparative study of the five particles, aimed at showing their various and specific uses. The second part has been devoted to the study of the particle nÀ. This particle has complex and various uses and plays a remarkable role in ostensive focus. When it functions as a discourse particle, it is able to combine with all the other five emphatic particles that have been studied in the first part
Ricaud, Philippe. "Particules et théorie linguistique : réflexions à propos des particules finales du cantonais." Paris, EHESS, 1992. http://www.theses.fr/1992EHES0309.
Full textBeynong the description of the final particles in cantonese, this thesis aims at 1 showing how fundamental particles are for linguistic theory, and 2 defending the necessity of a systemic approach of particles. Thanks to our definition of the general category of particles, the final particles of cantonese are specified as "propositional particles". Then, relations between final particles and morphosyntactical structure are examined : incidence, adverbs, complex sentence, modalities, etc. In order to explain the unicity of the value of a given particle, the cantonese final particles are described through our hypothesis of the split of the intrinsic value into a denotative value and a discursive value. Then, we show that 1 some forms must be regarded as variants of a same particle, not as concurrent units, and 2 this can be explained by the phonosymbolism principle. Finally, a list of typological features is proposed for syntactic, semantic and phonetic characterization of the particles
Grünthal-Robert, Tiiu. "Particules enonciatives en francais, en finnois et en estonien." Paris 3, 1997. http://www.theses.fr/1997PA030150.
Full textThe aim of the dissertation is to compare the use of discourse particles in three languages, one of which is a romance language - french - and two are finno-ugric - finnish and estonian. In the first part of the work it is question of some terminological problems, followed by a short presentation of the discourse particle system and of some separate particles in each of the three languages. The second part of the work summarizes the present situation of french-finnish-estonian contrastive works related to the discourse particles. The main part of the dissertation consists of the analysis of a number of discourse particles in a corpus constituted by litterary texts in french, finnish and estonian and of their translations in the two other languages. As a result of the analysis, it is possible to see in practice how complicated are the relations between the use of the discourse particles, the word order and the prosody, sometimes even the tenses, in the transmission of linguistic messages. The importance of each of these elements in the formulation of messages varies in different languages and in different registers of each language : as it could be foreseen, discourse particles have much more importance in finnish and in estonian than in french, but even in french it is possible to find situations where it would be difficult to replace the use of discourse particles by other means

Full textThis study intend to demonstrate, in betsileo, as in any language, speakers have many means at their disposal to achieve the best adaptation of their wording to their communicationnal objectives. It deals more particularly with two characteristics of the oral, the variation in the order of the words and the use of énonciative particules. The analysis comes with the framework of the theory of the informational structure. It is based only on an oral corpus consisting in texts registered during true situations of communication. Although betsileo is considered as a language with a fixed order of the words, this analysis lays down that it really offers the speaker a latitude to adapt the order of the words of his utterance. The analysis highlights the use of six words of this language as enonciative particles. These six words are specifically studied and their use as enonciative particle is proved. This study leads to pragmatic and semantic analysis of these six particles
Osu, Sylvestre Nheanotnu. "Etude de quelques particules verbales dans la langue ikwere." Paris 10, 1995. http://www.theses.fr/1995PA100141.
Full textThis thesis sets out to comprehend the working mechanism of five verbal particles among others, in ikwere language, namely, "n", "y-", "-gwu", "-lem" and "-ru", and to start up a systematic, rigorous study of phenomena related to the whole lot of verbal particles in ikwere the ultimate aim of proposing one day, a theory outlining the phenomena peculiar to verbal particles in this language as well as in some other languages. In effect, verbal particles in ikwere play a significant role in the formation of utterances. Their presence or absence can not only modify the meaning of a given utterance but also determine whether or not the utterance is correctly formed. Understanding the working mechanism of a given particle can therefore help to determine the particular role it plays in the process of constructing the meaning of an utterance. While this thesis is realized within the theoretical framework propounded by a. Culioli, it is arranged in two parts: firstly, each particle is examined in varied sets of sequences and contexts. This enables the author to establish its working mechanism, one that is then related to a basic language operation: location. This thesis comprises five chapters and each chapter is devoted to one verbal particle. Bibliography with abstracts; footnotes
Choi, Yoonhee. "La structure et les interprétations des termes de choix libre et des termes de polarité négative en coréen." Paris 7, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012PA070101.
Full textThis dissertation investigates the structure and the interpretations of the free choice items (FCIs) and negative polarity items (NPIs) in Korean. I take the notion of equity proposed by Jayez and Tovena (2005a; 2008) as an essential property of FCIs, and provide a unified analysis of both FCIs and NPIs by extending it to 'strong' equity. I show how equity or strong equity generates free choiceness or negative polarity by scrutinizing forms of FCIs and NPIs in Korean. Korean FCIs and NPIs are composed of one of the two indefinites wh-phrases or amwu-(N), and one of the four particles i. E. -na 'disjunction or. Subjunctive component', -tunci 'post-verbal morpheme + question complementizer', -to 'and. Even' and -lato 'declarative of copula -i + and. Even'. I argue that the role of the indefinite is to build 'alternatives' in the domain, whereas each particle holds a component which induces an exhaustive inference. In addition, the particles -na and -tunci contain modal components i. E. A subjunctive marker in -na and a modal marker -te in -tunci. The modal components allow the Korean FCIs built with the particles -na or -tunci to satisfy equity in episodic statements. On the other hand, -to/-lato based FCIs can satisfy equity only with a sentential modal
