Ett undersöknings- och utvecklingsarbete för att lösa ett problem med att dränkbara pumpar i ett vattenavrinningssystem gick sönder med perioder på två år i genomsnitt, utfördes i samarbete med Cementa AB i Skövde. Orsak till pumpars haveri söktes och fanns vara bristande rutiner och kunskap om det underhåll pumparna krävde. För att lösa detta problem utvecklades riktlinjer för nyinköp av torruppställda pumpar för att möjliggöra kontinuerligt underhåll. Då möjligheter för placering av torruppställd pump saknades utvecklades ett pumpfundament för placering av torruppställd pump. Krav för utvecklingsarbetet togs fram i samarbete med Cementas underhållsavdelning och teoretisk dimensionering av dränkbara länspumpars dåvarande volymflödeskapacitet utfördes. Krav utvärderades och viktades med hjälp av parvis jämförelse. Dimensionering och kontroll av hållfasthet för utvecklat pumpfundamentet utfördes med hjälp av Finita Element Analyser i programvaran Pro/Engineer Creo 1.0 Mechanica. Kontroll av hållfasthet i infästning av pumpfundamentet samt svetsfogar utfördes analytiskt. Arbetet resulterade i en rekommendation till Cementa AB i Skövde att ta in offerter på nya torruppställda pumpar med hjälp av utvecklade riktlinjer och att tillverka det pumpfundament som tagits fram inom ramen för examensarbetet, för att placera nya pumpar på. Att noggrant följa de underhållsinstruktioner som pumpar har och att underlätta för personal att utföra detta underhåll ansågs kunna bidra till att pumpar skulle få en längre och mer ekonomisk livslängd.
A development project to solve problems with why submersible pumps in a run-off system broke down with periods of two years, on average, was performed in collaboration with Cementa AB in Skövde. Reason for the pumps breakdowns was searched and found to be inadequate procedures and missing knowledge of the maintenance required on the pumps. To solve this problem, guidelines for the purchase of new dry pit pumps were developed to allow for continuous maintenance. As the possibilities of placing a dry well pump did not exist at Cementa, a pump foundation was developed. Requirements for the development work were produced in cooperation with Cementas maintenance department and theoretical dimensioning of the submersible bilge pumps volume flow capacity was performed. Requirements were evaluated and weighted using Pairwise comparison. The design and control of the strength of the developed pump foundation was performed using finite element analysis in the software Pro/Engineer Creo 1.0 Mechanica. Controls of the strength of the attachment of the pump foundation and welds were performed analytically. The work resulted in a recommendation to Cementa AB in Skövde to bring in quotes on the new dry-pit pumps using the developed guidelines and to manufacture the pump foundation developed within the framework of the thesis. Cementa was also recommended to carefully follow the maintenance instructions for pumps and make it easier for staff to perform this maintenance. This was recommended to ensure that new pumps would have a longer and more economical lifetime.

The purpose of this essay is to analyze how the Trojan prince Paris is described in the Iliad and in the movie Troy in regard to love and bravery. Thereafter an analysis of the similarities and differences between the Iliad and the movie Troy will be made. There will also be a discussion why there are differences between an epic story which was made for over two thousand years ago and a modern movie made in the twenty-first century. The differences will be based on the perspective ancient Greek culture versus filmmaking of the twenty-first century. The method that has been used is narrative analysis where the primary data, the Iliad and the movie Troy, have been interpreted.                         The Trojan prince Paris is described as a young, handsome man driven by his passion for Helen. Because of his passion for Helen he started a war and sacrificed thousands of men of Troy for her sake. The study showed that Paris was described in both the Iliad and the movie Troy as a coward, although some of his actions were brave. One reason why there are differences between the Iliad and the movie Troy is Wolfgang Petersen’s decision to remove the interference of the gods but other reasons are also discussed in the essay.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att utvärdera onlineversionen av programvaran MakeItRational med avseende på metoden som används för att beräkna så kallade vikter (weights) på basis av parvisa jämförelser. Studiens teoretiska del bygger på T.L. Saatys analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Större vikt läggs på tillämpningen av AHP-metoden med tonvikt på beräkning av vikter och hantering av parvisa jämförelsematriser. Uppsatsen empiriska del bygger på två beslutsanalyser utförda med hjälp av onlineversionen av MakeItRational och motsvarande egna beräkningar. Studiens resultat indikerar att onlineversionen av MakeItRational använder högeregenvektorsmetoden för att beräkna vikter.

Uppsatsen undersöker två svenska socknar kring nödåret 1867. Syftet är att se de direkta och varierande konsekvenserna av en missväxt. Socknarna är Vilhelmina i Norrland och Döderhult i Småland och den avgränsade tidsperioden är 1865-1870. Undersökningen har gjorts utifrån församlingarnas kyrkoarkiv samt Statistiska Centralbyråns (SCB) befolkningsstatistik. Forskningsläget visar på varierande konsekvenser av nödåren 1867-1869 och ett tydligt samband med en ökad emigration till Nordamerika, men det finns ingen liknande jämförelse på mikronivå som detta arbete kan visa. I uppsatsen finns en översikt över Sverige på 1860-talet, missväxtåren samt en beskrivning över Vilhelmina och Döderhult. Stapeldiagram presenterar de två socknarnas födda, döda, utflyttade, emigrerade samt totala befolkningsmängd. Vad undersökningen kommer fram till är en negativ men icke dramatisk befolkningsutveckling som skiljer sig åt mellan de två socknarna, framförallt vad gäller emigrationerna.
This essay focuses on two swedish parishes before, during and after the famine in Sweden 1867. The purpose is to see the direct and varying impacts by crop failures. The parishes are Vilhelmina in northern Sweden and Döderhult in southern Sweden. The delimited period is 1865-1870. The study was made based on the parishes' church archives and statistics from Statistiska Centralbyrån (SCB). Previous research shows various impacts by the crop failures 1867-1869 and a clear relationship with the following mass emigrations to North America. But there is no previous comparison on a micro level and between these two different geographical areas which this essay has done. The essay gives an overview about the crop failures, Sweden in the 1860's and facts about Vilhelmina and Döderhult. Statistic bars display the number of deceased, born, expatriates, emigrants and total population. The conclusion of the study is a  negative but not dramatic evolvement of the populations, and with differences between the parishes, particularly regarding the emigrations

Följande arbete utgör en fallstudie där en hybridanalys bestående av de två analysverktygen SWOT och AHP tillämpats. Syftet med arbetet har varit att identifiera vad den studerade verksamheten bör prioritera för att bli mer effektiv. Med hjälp av SWOT-modellen har styrkor, svagheter, möjligheter och hot kunnat identifieras. SWOT visar dock inte relevansen av de olika faktorerna och därför har modellen kompletterats med hjälp av AHP. Vid tillämpningen av AHP har en numerisk metod införts, vilket gör det möjligt att kvantifiera faktorerna inom SWOT och således kan de relativa viktfaktorerna härledas. Detta skapar ett tillförlitligare underlag för de strategiska beslut som verksamheten bör vidta, jämfört med om SWOT-analysen utförs självständigt. Studien har med signifikans identifierat att byråkratin ligger bakom en del av ineffektiviteten, vilket medför utdragna inköpsprocesser och planeringsprocesser. Studien utvärderar två olika skalor som en del av den numeriska metoden, en linjär och en kvadratisk. Den kvadratiska kräver normalt mer tid, men medför också högre tillförlitlighet. Däremot kan den medföra nackdelar om man inkluderar allokerandet av resurser, såsom tid, pengar eller personal som en tredje dimension inom AHP. Slutligen föreslår denna studie ett upplägg av hybridmodellen där man utnyttjar signifikansmåttet för att undersöka samstämigheten mellan exempelvis två individer kring vad som bör prioriteras.
This thesis presents a case study where a hybrid analysis containing the two frameworks SWOT and AHP has been made. The purpose has been to identify what the studied support business should prioritize in order to be more efficient. Using SWOT, one has been able to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for the function. However, SWOT fails to show their relevance and therefor it has been supplemented with an AHP analysis. When applying AHP, a numerical method has been introduced that makes it possible to quantify the factors. Thus, the relative weight of the factors can be derived. This will create a more reliable basis for the strategic decisions that the support business should implement. The study shows, with significance that the biggest issue of the support function lies in bureaucracy, causing the purchase and planning processes to be inefficient. The study also evaluates two different scales as a part of the numerical method, one linear and one quadratic. The quadratic usually requires more time but provides a more reliable result. However, it can bring some disadvantages if one includes allocations of resources, such as time, money or labor as a third dimension within AHP. Finally, the thesis proposes a way of using the hybrid model and the significance measurement to find out how two people agrees regarding what should be prioritized.
