Abstract:
To facilitate more convenient travel as the economy of Macau expands, the government of Macau has allowed shipping companies to add passenger ships and shipping lines. This paper demonstrates how shipping companies can reduce costs by optimizing passenger ships and crew size. It analyzes operating conditions for each shipping depot, including transit time, ships, and volume of passengers. A series of integer programming models is proposed. After a practical demonstration using Excel to solve the LP model, we show that the reduction in the number of passenger ships and crew size could reach 22.

The shortcomings of the existing system are stated, and improvement of the system by using information technology is proposed. The authors present the necessary adaptations of the public coastal liner shipping system with the goal of increasing system functionality, and the development

Abstract : The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has triggerred a global health and economic crisis with far-reaching implications for maritime transport and trade. Restrictions imposed in response to the pandemic have caused disruptions affecting ports, shipping, and supply chains. The island of Bali, one of the provinces of Indonesia, is used as a case study of the impact of the pandemic on the local economy in a region that relies on shipping and tourism. The Indonesian government has employed large-scale social restrictions or Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Besar (PSBB) to regulate and allow peop

The implementation of ferry transportation must ensure the comfort, security and safety of passengers and goods. To ensure the safety of crossing transportation, several regulations are set. This situation forces shipping human resources, including port managers and ship operators, to constantly make adjustments. Although efforts to reduce the risk of accidents always have an impact on increasing costs. The large number of facilities and infrastructure operated to serve the above crossing activities also shows the magnitude of the threat to shipping safety if these activities are not managed p
