Abstract:
This study aims to obtain the Airport Passenger Experience Model in Terminal 1 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport as a Low-Cost Carrier Terminal. Development of a passenger activity service model to address the gap between the level of importance and service perceived by business and leisure passenger types at all travel touch points in service processing activities and non-processing activities. This study uses 50 service attributes and 100 samples of respondents. The questionnaires were distributed twice. The first questionnaire uses the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method to determine the performance of each service attribute through identification of passenger needs and desires (Needs). The second questionnaire uses the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to obtain a ranking or priority order based on the level of importance of airport passengers (Importance). The results of the formulation of the House of Quality (HoQ) from a combination of QFD and AHP analysis methods get 5 priority programs (Panca Programs) from 17 Needs & Importance technical responses, including Customer Centric, Strategic Approach to Customer Service, Innovative, Sense of Place and Positive Ambiance. These have been adapted to the types of business passengers and leisure passengers at Terminal 1 Soekarno-Hatta Airport as a template for the Airport Passenger Experience Model for Low-Cost Carrier Terminals. If the manager of Terminal 1-BSH can carry out the five priority technical responses, then it can meet the needs of airport passengers by contributing 53.73% and if the sixth to tenth priority technical response is also carried out, it will increase the airport passenger experience by contributing as much as 84.80% as optimization of airport service performance at Terminal 1 Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Abstract:
Sentani Airport serves public using air transportation with increasing people mobility conditions because Jayapura is the National Activity Center, so it causes frequent accumulation of passengers in the terminal area especially during peak hours. To determine the effectiveness of the terminal in accommodating the flow of passenger movement, it is necessary to evaluate the terminal design of Sentani Airport. The method used is to calculate the number of PWS with passenger distribution patterns, calculate the standard area of terminal capacity using references from SNI 03-7046-2004 and SKEP 77/VI/2005, calculate the terminal LOS with IATA standards, measure the airport service standards based on PM 178 of 2015, processing passengers’ perceptions with IPA and QFD methods and forecasting with simple linier regression. From the analysis, Sentani Airport terminal gives passengers mobility with low service performance value, so it is rated as less optimal. In addition, the limited availability of several facilities causes the passengers feeling less comfortable. Thus, it is necessary to re-design the passenger terminal area and re-management the facilities according to Angkasa Pura standards.

Abstract:
The apron of the Roll-on/Roll-off/Passenger (Ro-Pax) terminal is an accident-prone zone with high risk of traffic congestion and vehicle exhaust pollution in the peak season, which brings a bad experience to passengers and even endangers passengers’ health. This study aims to improve the passenger service quality in the peak season by rezoning the Ro-Pax terminal apron and its traffic organization. Thus, we establish a simulation-based Fuzzy Multiple Attribute Decision Making framework to evaluate the passenger service quality and distinguish an optimal layout of the terminal apron. This framework introduces three evaluation indicators (safety, convenience, and comfort and health) and 11 performance indexes to define the passenger service quality, and the values of these indexes are derived from an agent-based simulation model for the Ro-Pax terminal apron operation. Finally, an example of the proposed framework is presented in a case study to show how to select an improved layout of the Ro-Pax terminal apron considering passenger service quality. The result confirms the proposed framework is an effective tool to solve rezoning the Ro-Pax terminal apron and the proposed methodology can also be used to cope with similar problems.

Abstract:
Sultan Mahmud badaruddin II International Airport is located in Palembang City, South Sumatra Province. The development of air freight movements at the airport indicates that passenger terminal facilities that have an existing area of 34,000 m2 with a capacity of 3.4 million per year can no longer accommodate the existing passenger volume. This can be seen from the increase in the total number of passengers each year which exceeds capacity to reach 5.1 million passengers in 2018. The study aims to evaluate and analyze projected passenger terminal needs plans for 2022-2037. The development plan is carried out by forming a double linear regression equation between passenger volumes used asdepent variableswhile population numbers (Pdd) and Percapita PDRB on the Basis of Constant Price in 2010 (Pkt) of South Sumatra Province asindependent variables ) with the help of SPSS program version 25.00 and Microsoft Excel. Thus, the number of residents (Pdd) has a greater effect on the growth of domestic passengers. Based on KM Number 10 of 2010 on the Master Plan of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport, there needs to be a development of this airport in the future. Based on the results of the development plan of this terminal passenger area in the 2037 plan year of 55. 324m2 with a capacity of 8,871,648 passengers per year and can accommodate 3,177 passengers during peak hours.

With safety, comfort, convenience, fast, economy, punctuality advantages and high service effectiveness, the introduction of passenger-dedicated line (PDL) will attract passenger volume assumed by other modes of long-short distance passenger transportation in terminal transportation system as part of its traffic component, named the transferred volume. Meanwhile, PDL will stimulate the potential travel demand to generate induced passenger volume. The volume of terminal passenger flow is of great significance in building PDLs, passenger railway stations, and transportation terminals. From the perspective of transportation mode service, by employing passenger-sharing rate model, Xi'an terminal is presented to estimate and analyze the long and short distance passenger transferred volume and the induced volume which it undertakes after introducing PDL.

Abstract:
As the passenger flow distribution center cooperating with various modes of transportation, the comprehensive passenger transport hub brings convenience to passengers. With the diversification of passenger travel modes, the passenger flow scale gradually increases, which brings significant challenges to the integrated passenger hub. Therefore, it is urgent to solve the problem of early warning and response to the future passenger flow to avoid congestion accidents. In this paper, the passenger flow GRNN prediction model is proposed, based on the K-means cluster algorithm, and an improved index named BWPs (Between-Within Proportion-Similarity) is proposed to improve the clustering effect of K-means so that the clustering effect of the new index is verified. In addition, the passenger flow data are studied and trained by combining with the GRNN neural network model based on parameter optimization (GA); the passenger flow prediction model is obtained. Finally, the passenger flow of Chengdu East Railway Station has been taken as an example, which is divided into 16 models, and each type of passenger flow is predicted, respectively. Compared with the traditional method, the results show that the model can predict the passenger flow with high accuracy.

Abstract:
The article presents a model of logistic support for the operation of a ground handling agent at an airport. The presented model enables the assessment of the system in the check-in and security control subsystems. The aim of the model is to forecast the system's assessment from the passenger's point of view. The rating given by the passenger has a significant impact on the non-aeronautical revenues obtained by airports. Therefore, it is a key rating indicator allowing selection of the appropriate number of resources to provide passenger service depending on the given flight schedule. The article proposes the use of a hybrid of two methods - computer simulation and multiple regression. By computer simulation, waiting and service times in queuing systems are determined for each passenger. The use of multiple regression allows to determine the forecasted system assessment from the point of view of passenger service quality. This article takes into account the dependence of check-in and security control systems, which affects the overall service of passengers’ quality at the landside.

Abstract:
<p>Since the airports are in fact commercial companies, their main objective is to make profit. Therefore, it is important for the airports to identify the business activities that may increase the income as well as those that may reduce the costs. The terminal process, handling the passengers’ baggage both on their departure and arrival, is a basic process at all airports that are intended for the commercial air transport. The quality of the terminal process provided by the airports has a significant impact on the passengers especially in terms of their satisfaction. In this text, the passenger satisfaction is regarded as a key factor of the terminal process affecting a whole range of other areas. Its high efficiency leads to cost reduction from the perspective of the airport. As it is proposed here, there is a connection between the passenger satisfaction and the process efficiency. For example, the queues that form due to the check-in process may be a result of the imbalance between the passenger arrival rate and the service rate. Therefore, there is a necessity of improving not only the passenger satisfaction but also the process efficiency.</p>

On the basis of actual survey of departing passengers to reach terminal, chaotic time series prediction theory was adopted for data analysis in this paper. In order to find out the self-similarity of time series, this paper divided passenger traffic into two kinds: holiday traffic and non-holiday traffic by changing interval scale. The optimal delay time and the best embedding dimension had been calculated by using time series phase space reconstruction method. To confirm whether the time series have chaotic characteristics or not, it took the largest Lyapunov exponent as determining criterion. Then the optimal time intervals of passenger traffic time series with chaotic character were determined. The study provides a theoretical basis for the application of chaos theory in passenger traffic forecast.

AbstractIn the past, it was enough for the airport to have a runway and a modest terminal. The development of air traffic has also increased customer requirements (passengers, airlines, etc.), which has affected the need for airport infrastructure development. Throughout the world, passenger terminals have been built, many of which, according to architectural solutions, represent works of art. The design and functionality are tailored in such a way as to enable longer stay and meet the requirements of passengers and other users. Content and concept offer solutions that airport operators provide for additional revenue. One part of the content and service is offered in passenger terminal buildings, while the other part is provided outside them, whether in or outside the airport. Part of this content is offered by Airport City (AC). AC phenomenon represents the integration of infrastructure, superstructures, information and operations. It represents a part of the Supply Chain (SC) and usually includes facilities such as: passenger terminals, runways and other airport activities such as: ground handling, logistics, office space, shops, hotels, etc. In this paper, authors use a method of systems theory, a modeling method and a comparative method as a general and some specific scientific methods of cognition, to researching the problem to which different AC models and their structure can contribute to the optimal SC flow as its essential part and bring the results of the AC phenomenon as a part of the SC.

Abstract:
Transportation terminal is the key node in transport systems. Efficient terminals can improve operation of passenger transportation networks, adjust the layout of public transportation networks, provide a passenger guidance system, and regulate the development of commercial forms, as well as optimize the assembly and distribution of modern logistic modes, among others. This study aims to clarify the relationship between the function and the structure of transportation terminals and establish the function layout design. The mapping mechanism of demand, function, and structure was analyzed, and a quantitative relationship between function and structure was obtained from a design perspective. Passenger demand and terminal structure were decomposed into several demand units and structural elements following the principle of reverse engineering. The relationship maps between these two kinds of elements were then analyzed. Function-oriented concept layout model of transportation terminals was established using the previous method. Thus, a technique in planning and design of transportation structures was proposed. Meaningful results were obtained from the optimization of transportation terminal facilities, which guide the design of the functional layout of transportation terminals and improve the development of urban passenger transportation systems.

Abstract:
The introduction of new large aircraft (NLA) is expected to cause a significant impact on planning and design of airports. Besides the problems caused by its large dimensions on airport airside design, the increased passenger capacity featured by the NLA will require larger passenger-processing facilities. Given the high costs implied both by changes in existing facilities and by the construction of new areas, anticipating the changes with a reasonable precision might help airports save a considerable amount of money. One of the most affected passenger terminal facilities will be the departure lounge. Current studies carried on by major manufacturers indicate that the NLA might be able to carry as many as 800 passengers. This is double the capacity of the largest existing passenger aircraft, the Boeing 747. To accommodate all these passengers in the same lounge, many solutions have been proposed. Examples of such solutions are the construction of a second level to allow an increase in passenger storage capacity without the need for horizontal expansion, and the use of the satellite section of a pier-satellite terminal as a single NLA gate. The implications of high-capacity aircraft on the passenger departure lounge are discussed. Using deterministic queuing theory, some analytical methods are presented to evaluate possible solutions and to assess both the lounge area and the number of seats that minimize the overall cost of the lounge. The use of a spreadsheet to implement the methods is also explained.

Abstract:
The passenger level of service is a qualitative measure used to relate the quality of passenger services provided by the airport. The level of service can be perceived in correlation with both quantified and unquantified service characteristics. The global IATA Level of Service (LoS) standards are based on the maximum queuing time and space required per passenger for various terminal sub-systems. The provided level of service by the airport influences passenger experience and therefore is an important factor of airport attractiveness for airlines. The level of service is correlated with terminal facilities size so it is necessary to take it into account when designing new airports. Decrease of the LoS below acceptable standard is a trigger for operational and physical improvements of existing processes. Moreover defining the target level of service is necessary to determine terminal capacity and set coordination parameters. This paper discusses the importance of level of service at airport passenger terminals and presents methods for LoS assessment. Advantages and disadvantages were identified of each level of service research: manual observation, automatic detection, calculation and simulation. The paper includes recommendations for evaluating level of service during airport planning and operations phase.

Abstract - West Java Province has a very unique and strategic geographic field challenge as a province with the largest population in Indonesia and as a province that is at the forefront of supporting the rapid dynamics of development in the capital city DKI Jakarta. In realizing equitable development, as stated in the West Java Provincial Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) 2018-2023, infrastructure development is regulated in a priority scheme that aims to bring equitable development. One of the planned transportation infrastructure developments in the construction of Cikembar Airport, Sukabumi, is prepared to serve the development area (WP) of the Sukabumi area and its surroundings which is targeted for completion in 2023. In preparing the airport design, a projection analysis based on demand is needed first. which correlates with statistical data. Forecasting analysis (forecasting) the number of passengers at Cikembar Airport aims to obtain potential passenger demand and a description of the needs for terminal facilities through the collection of statistical data to be analyzed using the correlation method and the multiple linear regression method between the number of passengers as the dependent variable. Meanwhile, statistical variables such as population growth, tourist growth, and Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), Sukabumi, and West Java Regencies were determined as independent variables. In formulating the terminal room facilities, it refers to the standards issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation through SKEP No.77/VI Year 2005. Considering the moderate upward trend approach, the estimated number of passengers at Cikembar Airport passenger terminal in 2023, namely the year the airport is planned to be realized, is as much as 756,029 passengers with busy time passengers totaling 605 passengers. The operational area needed for the terminal in that year was 8,468 m2. Assuming the concession area provided is 30%, the total terminal area required is 11,643 m2. This area projection still meets the needs based on the estimated terminal area attached to the Cikembar Airport master plan, which is 12,000 m2.

Abstract:
The airport terminal is a complex building composed of many functional subsystems dimensioned to host passenger traffic, considering an appropriate level of service (LoS). The most widely known method to assess the LoS and design the terminal areas is the Airport Development Reference Manual by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Based on this, a calculation tool in Microsoft Excel® was implemented to assess the capacity and dimension of the facilities for each functional subsystem of the terminal. The tool, composed of nine correlated spreadsheets, is a useful model to design new structures, evaluate the LoS currently offered, plan interventions, and face the new rules of passenger distancing due to the COVID-19 emergency. An international airport terminal with 20 million/year including Schengen and extra-Schengen passengers was studied. The LoS of the terminal subsystems was assessed and the areas needed for each subsystem were calculated. In the analyzed case study, most subsystems (departure hall, check-in, boarding gates, baggage claim, and arrival halls) were over-designed, according to the definition of the IATA LoS. This means that available spaces for queues and holding are sufficiently large to easily face the new rules of social distancing for passengers due to the recent COVID-19 emergency.

Abstract:
Discretionary activities such as retail, food, and beverages generate a significant amount of non-aeronautical revenue within the aviation industry. However, they are rarely taken into account in computational airport terminal models. Since discretionary activities affect passenger flow and global airport terminal performance, discretionary activities need to be studied in detail. Additionally, discretionary activities are influenced by other airport terminal processes, such as check-in and security. Thus, discretionary activities need to be studied in relation to other airport terminal processes. The aim of this study is to analyze discretionary activities in a systemic way, taking into account interdependencies with other airport terminal processes and operational strategies used to manage these processes. An agent-based simulation model for airport terminal operations was developed, which covers the main handling processes and passenger decision-making with discretionary activities. The obtained simulation results show that operational strategies that reduce passenger queue time or increase passenger free time can significantly improve global airport terminal performance through efficiency, revenue, and cost.

Abstract:
The increase in passenger traffic in air transport means that the airport's capacity becomes an increasingly important issue in addition to the safety and quality of services provided. Of course, its composition includes a number of elements determining as a consequence the possibility of celebrating a certain number of passengers and their baggage within a given time interval. In this paper, an overview of the issues related to the capacity of the passenger safety checkpoint and hand luggage was presented in the form of an introduction to further analysis. This is a very important factor illustrating the airport's operational capabilities. Proper configuration of GDP in the context of its infrastructure and tasks performed by security control operators, allows for conscious planning of not only the number of air operations performed in an hourly period, but also the appropriate design of terminal infrastructure necessary to check passengers. The tasks of OKB described in this article as well as additional factors affecting the time of performed control constitute a starting point for further, detailed tests allowing for quantification of the relationship between the indicated factors and the time of passenger's control.

Airports are essential for intercontinental trade and a key to the success of the global aviation industry. The common objective of all stakeholders in the airport chain is to satisfy the passenger while facing a significant number of challenges, including the continued growth of air traffic and its influence on airport capacity, the problem of congestion in peak hours, and all that result from queuing and boarding delays. This situation forces the managers of the airport to set up a better circuit of passengers, both at departure and on arrival. In fact, to achieve a better flow of passenger within the terminal, modeling is the first step towards developing and solving this problem. The present work aims to present the various models and approaches of simulation and optimization applied to the study of passenger flows and highlight their contributions to the good management and operation in a field as complex as that of airport operations.

This article introduces new benchmarks that compare the amount of exergy-corrected energy consumed per terminal building with the exergy-corrected energy consumed in air travel. How these energy consumptions reflect on total CO2 emission responsibilities and global warming is examined with a rational exergy management model (REMM). According to these criteria, inefficient terminals consume 12 to 15 kW-h / year energy per passenger. Since the terminals named as EP in total do not contain different unit exergy breaks such as energy per passenger, heat, cold, hot service water and steam, a new definition of exergy-corrected passenger is introduced. Thus, the responsibilities of the terminals to release CO2 in real time and their negative effects on the sustainable environment can be examined. When passenger-head energy is brought to exergy level, the primary energy demand of such terminals is 80 to 100 kW-h / passenger. In addition to CO2 emissions, the article examines global warming and ozone layer dilution potentials, considering that cooling towers and condensing boilers are responsible for the release of more water vapor into the atmosphere, contrary to what is known. In the article, Amsterdam Schiphol and Istanbul IGA airports are compared with new criteria.

Abstract:
Airport managers and airlines all had a common problem that how to use the passengers’ check-in counters effectively. In order to improve the comfort level of the air passenger transportation, reduce the queue time of the passengers near the passengers’ check-in counters and improve the efficiency of the passengers’ check-in system, the passengers’ check-in system of airport terminal was studied based on the Enterprise Dynamics in this paper. The results indicated that the open system of the passengers’ check-in system could shorten the queue time of the passengers near the passengers’ check-in counters and improve the quantity of the service. Furthermore, the airport should control the number of the passengers’ check-in counters dynamically based on the number of the passengers arriving the airport terminal so as to save the airport operating costs without affecting the service level to the passengers.

Abstract:
Delays are a major nuisance to railway passengers. The extent to which a delay propagates, and thus affects the passengers, is influenced by the assignment of rolling stock. We propose to reschedule the rolling stock in such a way that the passenger delay is minimized and such that objectives on passenger comfort and operational efficiency are taken into account. We refer to this problem as the passenger delay reduction problem. We propose two models for this problem, which are based on two dominant streams of literature for the traditional rolling stock rescheduling problem. The first model is an arc formulation of the problem, whereas the second model is a path formulation. We test the effectiveness of these models on instances from Netherlands Railways (Nederlandse Spoorwegen). The results show that the rescheduling of rolling stock can significantly decrease passenger delays in the system. Especially, allowing flexibility in the assignment of rolling stock at terminal stations turns out to be effective in reducing the delays. Moreover, we show that the arc formulation–based model performs best in finding high-quality solutions within the limited time that is available in the rescheduling phase.

Abstract:
Airport design has improved significantly in the last 20 years. Design has moved from simple protection from the elements to almost full automation. Many older airport facilities are now outdated and require replacement. The decision to replace must be made based upon benchmarking with similar airport facilities. Summarises the current position with airport design and suggests that efficient use of facilities cannot depend upon shareholder return alone but must be based on national interest and efficiency demonstrated through external benchmarking. Suggests that facilities managers must be aware of the expectations of the airlines and passengers and the indicators used in the assessment of performance. Outlines the reasons that influence an airport’s decision to upgrade or replace its terminal facilities.
