Full textThe skating movement is used in the modern practical of cross-country skiing. It results from the association of a technical motion and a technological development. The technical motion studied is the offset. It is one of the techniques, it corresponds to an alternative lateral thrust of the legs associated with a push shifted with the arms. To give an account of its gestural complexity and to be able to analyze it at the mechanical level, our goal is to build a threedimensional dynamic model. This model is carried out thanks to the biomechanics software LifeModeler, plug in of ADAMS software. Dynamic simulation and numerical model tool, LifeModeler makes it possible to model the human body like an anthropomorphic robot. The first stage consists in building a human model, reproducing the movements of the offset on a hard ground. To validate this model, we finely analyze kinematics by comparing it with the data collected in a thesis. In the second time, the model is equipped. We elaborate the contact parameters so as to simulate the effect of a snow-covered ground. We carry out an inverse dynamic simulation then a forward dynamic simulation. The inverse simulation gives rather well an account of the reality from a kinematic point of view, the order of magnitude contact forces is good. For forward dynamic simulation we use the whole of the muscles available in the software. The stability of the model is correct, but not all the problems could be regulated particularly the gripping of the poles. This work makes possible to show the modelling method of a cross-country skier equipped with poles and flexible skis. The model gives access to the skier muscular efforts

Roller hockey is a collective sport of collaboration and opposition in which the main objective is to score in the opposite goal. For this, different shooting techniques will be used: Pala and Cuchara . The objectives of this doctoral thesis are to contextualize and describe the utility of the Pala shot in roller hockey, and to analyze the factors that influence the speed of the ball during its execution. The results of this work suggest that the most used technique and the one with the highest shooting speed is the Pala technique, without any modifications in the maximum speed during 35 shots. The maximum velocity of the ball in the goal shots seems to correlate, significantly, with the throwing speed of the medical ball and with the test of speed with changes of direction in 25 meters. In addition, it seems that professional players generally have higher levels of balance and there is a direct relationship between the balance and shot the ball at a higher speed.

Full textThe formation of iron and/or manganese black patina on sandstone buildings is a phenomenon observed for various environments but which is not fully understood yet. The palace of Lunéville, in eastern France, is an interesting example because it has patinas that have developed in different conditions : some seem to have grown naturally while others have appeared on stones which were exposed to a fire. These stones experienced an increase of their surface temperature, but most of all, they were subjected to a substantial volume of water as part of attempts to extinguish the fire. The goal of this thesis is to understand the formation of the patinas by investigating different sandstone facies collected from the palace of Lunéville and from quarry. In order to understand the influence of the sandstones intrinsic parameters, the patinated and unpatinated facies were compared from petrophysical, chemical and mineralogical point of view, using laboratory techniques (optical and electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectrometry, permeability, porosity and capillarity measurements, ...) and large instruments (Particle Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) on the AGLAE proton accelerator, X-ray micro-diffraction analysis and X-ray absorption micro spectroscopy (XANES) at the SOLEIL synchrotron). In addition to this characterization, patinas coming from different environments were also compared in order to extract the main extrinsic parameters. Finally, the dynamical aspect of the release of manganese from the sandstones was investigated by conducting dissolution experiments at various pH, and by demonstrating the possibility to recreate a Mn patina in laboratory, using sandstone imbibition techniques. The results allow to propose a model for the patina formation based on the dissolution of the Mn-phases initially present in the sandstones’ bulks, followed by the migration through the porous network towards the surface of the ions released in the solution

Full textThe present project has been created with the main purpose of implementing a feasible business for the creation of a company that commercializes furniture organizers of bicycles, skates, and scooters; through two products: DISOR Kids and DISOR Adults. The problem of the disorder generated in the homes was observed in this market due to not having assigned a specific space to said vehicles on wheels. Also, there is a need to keep their home with an attractive and harmonious decoration both inside and outside, even more when it comes to small spaces. For this reason, an opportunity is observed for a product that mix attributes of an innovative and functional design. It is also considered that one of the determining factors for the public is the exclusivity in products as personal as the home furniture. In order for the business to be carried out in a feasible way, strategies were proposed that will allow DISOR to develop in a highly competitive market within the furniture industry and differentiate DISOR as a product that all potential customers should have, as well as keep them loyal thanks to a personalized service and post service.

Rink hockey is a team sport with a historical tradition and recognised success in our territory, but is rarely featured in scientific literature. However, because the analysis of performance variables is increasingly used and accepted by coaches and athletes, knowing the different performance indicators and variables of each sport and their influence on competitive outcomes can be quite useful. The aim of this doctoral thesis is to analyse the influence of contextual and game variables in rink hockey. Different variables have been studied in the analysis of the teams’ rankings, official scoresheets and scouting reports from recorded matches. The results obtained have been reported in 11 journal publications, which constitute the main body of the thesis, divided into four thematic sections. The first section (Articles I, II, III, IV and V) analyses the influence of contextual variables on teams’ performance. In those articles, aspects such as the game location, first goal, halftime status, the opponent’s level and playing without spectators are analysed. Likewise, the independent predictive power of each variable alone and in interaction with each other is reported. As a general trend, contextual variables influence the outcomes of matches, with the level of the teams and the halftime status as the most powerful predictive variables. The second section (Articles VI, VII and VIII) analyses the influence of individual set-pieces (i.e. penalties and free direct hits) on the outcome of matches. The results confirmed that individual set-pieces greatly influence the outcomes and, more globally, teams’ performance at the end of seasons. The third section (Articles IX and XI) quantifies the competitive balance in major European rink hockey leagues and shows that there is more inequality in rink hockey than in other sports. Last, in the fourth section (i.e. Articles X and XI), some topics analysed in the thesis, including the fact of playing at home and the competitive balance, are compared according to the gender of the league, which reveals some relevant differences between men’s and women’s leagues. In conclusion, some contextual and game variables influence teams’ performance and the outcome of matches in rink hockey. Knowing the factors studied can help coaches and players to better adapt their strategies and training objectives before each competition, to have a better understanding of the game and, as a result, to improve their performance.

Full textChanges in the rules of rink hockey, which was introduced from the season 2009-10, modified substantially the actions of direct free hit: there was an increase in the frequency of direct free hits and it modified the way of execution. This these analyzes the rink hockey players in the direct free hit of the OK Liga 2015-16 with the objective of 1) identifying the factors that affect the effectiveness of the goalkeeper in the direct free hit, 2) linking the technical skills used by the goalkeeper and the rink hockey player and 3) assessing the incidence of the goalkeeper's efficiency in the direct free hit in the final classification of the teams. From a functional perspective, the goalkeeper's skills have been analyzed in his performance in the direct free hit. The focus has been on the interaction between the goalkeeper and the player and the action of direct free hit is a representative sample of this interaction one against one. In a sampling of 637 direct free hit, the observational methodology was used to analyze the behavior of the goalkeepers, the players and the elements of the environment that determine the direct free hit. An ad hoc observation tool was developed for observation, the Observation System of Direct Free Hit in Rink Hockey (SOFDHP). The conclusions of this these show that the contextual variable time of the match influences the goalkeeper's efficiency in the direct free hit (x2 = 17,665, p-valor =, 039, that there is a link between the technical skills of the goalkeeper and the player (x2 = 282.117, p-valor =, 000), and that there is no influence on the goalkeeper's efficiency in direct free hit with the final classification of the teams.

Full textRoller hockey can be identified as a collective, dynamic and complex sports game played with a ball between two teams of 4 players and a goalkeeper which consists in pushing a ball with a stick to score. This thesis analyzes some of the goals scored in the main European hockey leagues; 50 matches of the OK League, 50 of the Italian league and 50 of the Portuguese league, registering a total amount of 1.074 goals. In this sample, the observational methodology has been used to analyze how goals are achieved: in which phase of play and situation, from which zone, what technical action players used to finish, the zones from where they are assisted, technical action to assist the player who scores the goal and what differences there are between the OK, the Italian and the Portuguese leagues. This data is then presented to internationally experienced coaches for them to state their opinion and account for the cause of these results. The conclusions of this thesis show that the origin of goals in the different leagues is varied and thus each league has its particularity either triggered by cultural factors, player profile according to league, tactical factors or game models and procedures of matches chosen by coaches.

Full textThe aim of this work was to determine the extent to which the drastic reduction in SO2 levels in postindustrial atmospheres affected the corrosion kinetics of weathering steels as well as their morphology, chemical composition and crystallographic structure. The experiments covered a wide spectrum of steel grades, exposure time and conditions of formation of these patinas. The structuring of the patinas has been studied with in particular the implementation of cryogenic fractography as well as the kinetics corrosion monitoring. Corrosion products formed on weathering steels or on conventional steels have a similar structuration consisting of a layer of laminated lepidocrocite over denser and more protective corrosion products, usually goethite. These products extend up to forming a relatively homogeneous protective layer. The analysis of the defects of the patinas suggests a very close relation between their density and the corrosion rate. Alloying elements would then play a role in reducing these defects but the exact mechanisms remain to be established. All these results have led to questioning the parameters of the predictive corrosion resistance model of the ISO 9223 standard because they are not adapted to environments with very low level of SO2. They also made it possible to propose an alternative and on destructive method of monitoring the corrosion’s performance of low-alloy steels, this family encompassing so-called weathering steels

Full textDeliberate practice plays an important role in the development of sport excellence. This practice is described as being aimed at the improvement of performance and requires a high level of effort and concentration and is not inherently enjoyable. The quantitative aspect of deliberate practice has been explored in several studies, but very few studies have examined the qualitative side of this process. Thus, the goal of the present study is to describe precisely what deliberate training is and the psychological process underlying it. To reach those goals, semi-structured interviews were conducted with twelve elite Quebec figure skaters . Data analyse, using grounded theory, demonstrate that high quality training is the result of a dynamic interaction among many factors related to the athletes, their environment, the content of their training and their psychological state. Specifically, confidence, focus, motivation and positive attitude are psychological skills that can affect performance. In fact, the results show that an important process occurred during deliberate training. First, cognitive and behavioral strategies such as mental imagery, goal setting and routine are used by athletes to prepare themselves to train. Then, when the athletes' psychological state is negatively affected, they use different strategies to try to optimize this state. If these strategies are efficient, they help maintain the quality of training and the athletes experience the perception of having progressed technically, mentally, and emotionally.

Abstract Background and Purpose: One of the main purpose of the National Health Insurance is to promote even distribution of medical resources geographically and to improve the quality of medical services. In reviewing trends within Taiwan and abroad, one of the first, and most important step in the upgrading of quality in medical services is the monitoring of patient experiences. In the review of past literature about patient experience, there seems to be few studies on whether or not geographic differences affect patient experiences. Therefore, this study seeks to explore the structural association with patient experiences and differences in geographic location by using the national data of the medical experiences of patients in primary health care provider in western medicine. Method: This study covers 291 counties, townships, cities, and district areas and has a sample size of 1980 patients. It is based on the 2015 questionnaire “The Medical Quality and Accessibility Survey of Primary Health Care Provider in Western Medicine,” which was collected by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The first stage is analyzing the association between patient experiences and geographical differences under the global budget among primary health care provider in western medicine by using the Random Intercept Model. The second stage compares the association between personal factors and patient experiences after controlling the geographical location factors by ANCOVA. Result: The first stage shows that the association between the geographical location and the subjective patient experiences is higher than the objective patient experiences in global budget among primary health care provider in western medicine payment system. In the four dimensions of patient experiences, the one highest in association is satisfaction, second is communication, third is accessibility, and the lowest one is medical expenses. The second stage shows that the four dimensions of patient experiences are affected by personal factors, listed in order of correlation from highest to lowest: accessibility, communication, medical expenses, and satisfaction. And based on the individual factors, the four dimensions of patient experiences are all affected by patients’ occupation, drinking habits and self-assessment of health; the patient’s education level, family income, the reason for seeking medical treatment, serious illness affect accessibility, communication, and medical expenses; and patient’s age, marital status and chronic disease status affect accessibility and communication least; and there is no effect on the four dimensions whether the patients has family who work in a medically-related industry or whether the patient is in the habit of chewing betel nuts. Conclusion and Suggestions: The results show that there is a greater difference between geographical differences and communication and accessibility in the primary medical treatment of the The first stage shows that the association between the geographical location and the subjective patient experiences is higher than the objective patient experiences in global budget among primary health care provider in western medicine payment system of western medicine. In the four dimensions of patients experiences, the one highest in association is satisfaction, second is communication, third is accessibility, and the lowest one is medical expenses, and it is more obvious in the subjective patient’s experiences. To find out whether it is related to Physician Induced Demand (PID), would require further evidence and support from the continued monitoring of the public opinion polls in the future. And since there is less correlation between geographical differences and medical expenses, it can be concluded that the implementation of universal health insurance has fully protected the public’s medical rights, reducing the obstacles to access medical services due to medical expenses; while at the same time, achieving equity in the national public health care by gradually narrowing the effects of differences in geographical locations. Finally, as the government strives to balance the distribution of resources and to improve the quality of medical services, it is recommended that measures need to be taken to ensure that the public fully understands the published medical information, that the concept of integrated care for primary health care is implemented, and public health awareness is increased. An improvement in the efficiency of medical services, and reduction in the waste of medical resources, are directions to work towards for the health authorities.
