"The Thin Line Between Masculinity and Skate: Primetime Narratives of Male Figure Skaters on the CBC and NBC 2014 Winter Olympic Broadcasts." Abstract:
An empirical analysis was conducted focusing on how the United States-based NBC and the Canada-based CBC portrayed male figure skaters in comparison with their male Winter Olympic counterparts on the networks’ primetime 2014 Olympic broadcasts. Using 100% of all primetime broadcast content as a universe of investigation, NBC’s and the CBC’s commentary about male figure skaters was compared with the aggregate of all other male Winter Olympians in the areas of success, failure and personality/physicality. Analysis of NBC’s primetime coverage of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games revealed five (5) significantly-different dialogue trends between male figure skaters and the aggregate of other male Winter Olympians, while analysis of the CBC’s primetime coverage revealed seven (7) significantly-different dialogue trends between male figure skaters and the aggregate of other male Winter Olympians. Differences were not consistent from network to network, showing that NBC and CBC treated male figure skaters differently, yet in significantly different manners by network. Insights are offered on the theoretical and applied levels.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The use of the electric kick-scooter is spreading more and more to different countries of the world. Some articles have recently been published on its implementation in some cities, especially in the United States. However, there is still little research on regulatory issues. This work studies the regulation of this new form of mobility in Spain. After analyzing the regulations approved in cities with more than half a million inhabitants, the differentiating regulatory factors between them have been determined. Using a cluster analysis, groups of cities have been established based on their normative similarity. The results obtained will contribute to making the use of this new form of mobility more efficient and sustainable.

Abstract:
ObjectiveThe aim of the study was to examine the prevalence of religious coping among persons with schizophrenia, their first-degree relatives and control subjects and to gain a preliminary understanding of the relationship between religious coping, symptom severity, QOL, level of functioning, internalized stigma and depression. We also examine associations between psychopathology and religiosity in the group of patients.MethodsA total of 120 outpatinets with diagnosis of schizophrenia, 120 their first-degree relatives who also were key caregivers, and 120 control subjects completed a survey consisting of the Religious Coping Index, Quality of Life Enjoyment and Satisfaction Questionnaire-Short Form, Beck Depression Inventory, Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness scale, Positive and Negative Symptom Scale and Global Assessment of Functioning scale.ResultsThe results showed that patients and their relatives were more religious than controls but patients went to church less. Positive religious coping was not associated with illness outcomes, but negative religious coping was associated with worse quality of life, more depression, worse functioning and more internalized stigma. Higher religiosity was associated with higher values of altogether PANSS and positive and general subscales.ConclusionsOur results suggest that religious activities and beliefs are particularly important for the persons with schizophrenia and their caring relatives. Negative religious coping is associated with worse illness outcomes.

Abstract:
Carotid endarterectomy (CEA) is a preventive operation to reduce the incidence of embolic and thrombotic cerebral stroke. CEA carries a significant perioeperartive mortality rate from stroke and myocardial infarction, which may even approach 5%. Thus, anesthetic and surgical techniques are constantly under scrutiny to try to reduce this relatively high incidence of morbidity and mortality. Anesthetic technique for CEA is divided to general (GA) and regional (RA) anesthesia, performed by cervical plexus block. The aim this study was to examine changes of basic haemodynamic parameters, which routinely fallows during CEA in condition of GA and RA. After obtaining institutional approval and informed consent, we randomized 50 patients scheduled for CEA (Tab.1) in two groups (GA and RA). We fallow blood pressure: systolic (BPs), mean (BPm), diastolic (BPd), heart rate (HR), and RPP index at the examined patients. The examination performed in six control times: before induction of anesthesia (T1), 10 minutes after beginning of operation (T2), 5 minutes after cross clamping of arteria carotis (T3), 5 minutes after declamping arteria carotis (T4), 10 minutes (T5) and 2 hours after operation (T6). The results of study shows significant changes of blood pressure (BPs and BPm) and RPP index in T2 time in patinets undergoing GA. The changes occurred under influence of induction agent thio- pental. These changes were in homeostatic range. In RA patinets, no haemodynamic changes registrated in control times. Therefore, from haemodynamic aspect RA was superior to GA.

Abstract:
Introduction Psychiatric disorders may be one of considerable contributing factors for dry eye symptoms and the severity of subjective symptoms of dry eye are often related to psychological factors. Objectives The aim of this research was to determine which of two chosen questionnaires for subjective symptoms of dry eye (Ocular Surface Disease Index and Schein questionnaire) is more reliable in the assessment of dry eye in patients with schizophrenia. Methods Our research included 80 patients of both sexes with schizophrenia ranging between the age of 25 and 55 who have been taking antipsychotics (clozapin, olanzapin, quetiapin) for five years and were in remission. All participants were required to satisfy all included and excluded criteria. They all filled out the Schein and OSDI questionnaires for assessment of subjective symptoms. Tear break-up time test (TBUT) for objective evaluation of tear film stability was also performed. In order to determine the correlation between two subjective and objective tests we calculated Spearmans correlation coefficients. Results A analysis shows that there are no statistically significant differences between the correlations. Both subjective questionnaires are statistically significantly and negatively related to the TBUT test, showing that an increase in the results on the OSDI and Schein’s questionnaires led to the decreases in the results on the TBUT test. Conclusions In patients with schizophrenia the OSDI and Schein questionnaires are equally reliable in the assessment of subjective symptoms of Dry eye disease. Considering that, OSDI is more common in clinical practice, it is recommended for use in patients with schizophrenia. Disclosure No significant relationships.

Abstract:

Abstract:
72 Background: Gastric cancer is well known as having heterogeneous features. Recently, the Asian Cancer Research Group (AGRG) had proposed a new classification scheme based on the gene expression profile of the tumor. However, the genomi/expression profiling of gastric cancer in Japanese patients is still unknown. We started a comprehensive molecular profiling study that analyzes genome and transcriptome of tumor obtained from cancer patients admitted to Shizuoka Cancer Center from 2014. We already had evaluated more than 1,500 samples from various type of cancer. Among them, 104 gastric cancer patients were analyzed. Methods: Fresh surgically resected tumor/normal samples and peripheral blood were obtained and whole-exome sequencing (Ion Proton, Life Technologies) and gene expression profiling (DNA microarray, Agilent Technologies) were performed. Patients were grouped based on the gene expression profile according to AGRG classification, and clinicopathological features were compared among the group. Results: Patients were classified into MSI in 14, MSS/EMT in 15, MSS/TP53+ in 38 and MSS/TP53- in 37, respectively. There was no significant difference of sex among the group. Age was significantly younger in MSS/EMT and MSS/TP53-. In MSI, tumor tended to be located at antrum, and differentiated type tumor was predominant. In MSS/EMT, advanced T stage (T4) and undifferentiated type of tumor was predominant. In MSS/TP53+, relatively less advanced stage and localized macroscopic type tumor was predominant. In MSS/TP53-, relatively advanced stage and invasive macroscopic type tumor was predominant. Although the follow-up period is insufficient, relapse-free survival was the worst in MSS/EMT and no patient recurred in MSI. Conclusions: Classification of gene expression profiling based on ACRG was possible in Japanese gastric cancer. Distribution and tumor characteristics were almost identical to ACRG cohort. Gene -expression profiling may be comprehensively used for tumor classification and further clinical trials of molecular targeting agents.
