Abstract:

Abstract:
A bronze mirror dating of Han-dynasty was studied in this paper. The in-depth structure and the composition of the natural patina and substrate alloy were determined by Electron probe micro-analyzer (EPMA) observation and EDS cartographies on a cross-section, the mineral composition of patinas were analyzed using XRD. The results show the layer structure of the patina has two obvious layers, and the inner layer ranges from 90µm to 260µm. This bronze mirror is a typical ancient Chinese black mirror Heiqigu, and the formation of high tin layer is due to special surface treatment by the ancients. Tthe composition of the patinas on the mirror and that of substrate alloy were found to be highly heterogeneous, the thin black patina on the mirror containing is cassiterite.

Abstract:
This article discloses a rare and outstanding type of Mn-rich black-blue patina found on mural painting and granite ashlars located in the church of Sta. Marinha, north of Portugal, and conjectures the phenomenon associated to the appearance of such patinas in different surface materials. This Mn-patina reported on mural painting and their origin is probably assigned to manganese leaching from building materials (i.e., granite and phyllites). Stained mural painting and granite examined by XPS and SEM have showed patinas enriched with manganese (IV) oxide, potentially catalysed by a microbiota, like fungi, observed in SEM micrographs. The pigments used to depict mural painting and groundwater were also analysed by micro-Raman and ICP-MS, respectively, indicating that they are unlikely manganese sources. Unstained building materials, such as granite ashlars, historic joints, mortars and phyllite rocks, were also analysed by ICP-MS showing that historic joints and mortars present significant concentrations of manganese, possibly associated to their absorbing feature. The main materials with potential to impart manganese to Mn-rich patinas are granite ashlars and phyllites. The aim of this investigation is to reveal and ascertain the hypothetical sources and the phenomenon responsible for the Mn-rich black-blue patina appearance, both on mural painting and granite ashlars.

Abstract:
AbstractThe article is a contribution to the iconology of sixteenth-century landscape-painting, and sets out to examine in particular the con nection between the antithethical iconography of the figural clc ment in landscapes by Joachim Patinir, Herri met dc Bles and Jan van Amstel, and Pieter Bruegel's Christ Bearing the Cross in Vienna. Also presented and elucidated is the thesis that in this painting Bruegel anticipated with many details the subjective element in the sixteenth-century beholder's interpretation, and that this subjective element in the reading of the image was anchored in the 'collective' imagery of early sixteenth-century landscape-paint ing. The author endeavours to demonstrate that the manner of reception prompted bv Bruegel's Christ Bearing the Cross is comparable with that required of the beholder of Jan van Amstcl's Landscape with Christ Bearing the Cross in Stuttgart. The uncertainty of the beholder faced with the question of whether a particular subjective interpretation of an individual detail or certain anecdote is 'correct' should not only be seen as a problem for the twentieth-century iconologist but is inherent in the actual painting, and must be judged as a positive element, intended by the painter, in the reception of the image. The beholder's personal insight and judgement in issues of good and evil are the true subject of these paintings.

Abstract The paper is focused on analyses of dark copper patina defects that were formed on one sheet under the same conditions. Roofs of ten historical buildings were studied by image analysis and samples of two roofs were subjected to more detailed destructive analysis. These samples were studied by means of scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy. Both types of patina are composed of brochantite. Green patinas consisted of a pure brochantite and they had a fl at and compact surface. Conversely, black patina contained a high degree of impurities (ammonia cations, nitrates, silicates) and the surface was rough. The proportion of dark patina was higher in south and east facing surfaces, where washing by rainfall is more difficult.

Abstract:
The requirements for the formation of a protective patina on conventional weathering steels (WS) are well known in the scientific literature related to civil structures. However, these criteria are not always given due consideration when WS is used in cultural heritage, as in the case of sculptural work. An artificial patina was produced simulating artists’ working procedures using a direct patination technique, applying a solution of 10% H2SO4 on WS specimens. These were exposed for two years in the urban atmosphere of Madrid along with weathering steel specimens without artificial patina, called natural patina. The patinas generated have been analyzed using colorimetry, micro-Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thickness measurements. The artificial patina color formed hardly differs from the color that the natural patina acquires from practically the beginning of its formation in the atmosphere of Madrid. After two years, the atmospheric corrosion rate of patinated WS is lower than 6 µm/year. The sulfuric acid treatment accelerates the protective ability of the patina with respect to the natural patina according to the ratio goethite to lepidocrocite (α/γ). Chromium-rich goethite is located in the inner part of the artificial patina as well as chromium-rich ferrihydrite. Ferrihydrite may act as a precursor of nanophasic goethite.

Abstract:

Thesis, Paris Est, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017PESC1085/document.

Abstract:
The formation of iron and/or manganese black patina on sandstone buildings is a phenomenon observed for various environments but which is not fully understood yet. The palace of Lunéville, in eastern France, is an interesting example because it has patinas that have developed in different conditions : some seem to have grown naturally while others have appeared on stones which were exposed to a fire. These stones experienced an increase of their surface temperature, but most of all, they were subjected to a substantial volume of water as part of attempts to extinguish the fire. The goal of this thesis is to understand the formation of the patinas by investigating different sandstone facies collected from the palace of Lunéville and from quarry. In order to understand the influence of the sandstones intrinsic parameters, the patinated and unpatinated facies were compared from petrophysical, chemical and mineralogical point of view, using laboratory techniques (optical and electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectrometry, permeability, porosity and capillarity measurements, ...) and large instruments (Particle Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) on the AGLAE proton accelerator, X-ray micro-diffraction analysis and X-ray absorption micro spectroscopy (XANES) at the SOLEIL synchrotron). In addition to this characterization, patinas coming from different environments were also compared in order to extract the main extrinsic parameters. Finally, the dynamical aspect of the release of manganese from the sandstones was investigated by conducting dissolution experiments at various pH, and by demonstrating the possibility to recreate a Mn patina in laboratory, using sandstone imbibition techniques. The results allow to propose a model for the patina formation based on the dissolution of the Mn-phases initially present in the sandstones’ bulks, followed by the migration through the porous network towards the surface of the ions released in the solution

Abstract:

Abstract:
Changes in the rules of rink hockey, which was introduced from the season 2009-10, modified substantially the actions of direct free hit: there was an increase in the frequency of direct free hits and it modified the way of execution. This these analyzes the rink hockey players in the direct free hit of the OK Liga 2015-16 with the objective of 1) identifying the factors that affect the effectiveness of the goalkeeper in the direct free hit, 2) linking the technical skills used by the goalkeeper and the rink hockey player and 3) assessing the incidence of the goalkeeper's efficiency in the direct free hit in the final classification of the teams. From a functional perspective, the goalkeeper's skills have been analyzed in his performance in the direct free hit. The focus has been on the interaction between the goalkeeper and the player and the action of direct free hit is a representative sample of this interaction one against one. In a sampling of 637 direct free hit, the observational methodology was used to analyze the behavior of the goalkeepers, the players and the elements of the environment that determine the direct free hit. An ad hoc observation tool was developed for observation, the Observation System of Direct Free Hit in Rink Hockey (SOFDHP). The conclusions of this these show that the contextual variable time of the match influences the goalkeeper's efficiency in the direct free hit (x2 = 17,665, p-valor =, 039, that there is a link between the technical skills of the goalkeeper and the player (x2 = 282.117, p-valor =, 000), and that there is no influence on the goalkeeper's efficiency in direct free hit with the final classification of the teams.

Abstract:
Roller hockey can be identified as a collective, dynamic and complex sports game played with a ball between two teams of 4 players and a goalkeeper which consists in pushing a ball with a stick to score. This thesis analyzes some of the goals scored in the main European hockey leagues; 50 matches of the OK League, 50 of the Italian league and 50 of the Portuguese league, registering a total amount of 1.074 goals. In this sample, the observational methodology has been used to analyze how goals are achieved: in which phase of play and situation, from which zone, what technical action players used to finish, the zones from where they are assisted, technical action to assist the player who scores the goal and what differences there are between the OK, the Italian and the Portuguese leagues. This data is then presented to internationally experienced coaches for them to state their opinion and account for the cause of these results. The conclusions of this thesis show that the origin of goals in the different leagues is varied and thus each league has its particularity either triggered by cultural factors, player profile according to league, tactical factors or game models and procedures of matches chosen by coaches.

Abstract:

The weathering bridge steel has a lower corrosion rate than low alloy steel bridge, which could produce dense and stable patina on the steel surface, separating the steel substrate from the external corrosion eviroment and preventing the further corrosion. In this paper, the patina of weathering steel for bridge were studied from formation mechanism, evaluation method and patina field and in-suit testing. The formation mechanism and composition of patina was studied, the applicability of detection and evaluation methods of weathering steel bridge were clarified, and the patina stability of weathering steel orthotropic bridge deck and existing bridge in China were evaluated. The purpose of this paper is to provide guidance and selection for the maintenance methods of the patina in the weathering steel bridge.

Abstract:
Critically ill patients have been described to have blood coagulation abnormalities that predispose to bleeding and thrombosis. We have studied plasminogen activators (fibrin plate, enzyme-linked Immunosorbent assay using polyclonalantibodies for t-PA), X-oligomers fibrin fragments (using monoclonal antibodies in an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), octant i pi asmin, antithrombtai III and fibronectin (Laurel1 innaunoeleetrophoretic technique), fibrinogen (thrombin timeassay), plateLets count, kaolln-cephalin clotting time and prothrombin time on admission to the intensive care unit and sequentially after 24 and 48 hours in 39 adult patients: Adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) (n:6), Trauma (n:12), Sepsis (n:8), and Miscellanea (n:13).A decrease in tissue plasminogen activator (ng/ml)(p<0.001, p<0.05, p<0.01, p<0.05, respectively in the four groups), associated to an increase in the earliest form of cross-linked fibrin degradation products, X-Oligomers concentration (ng/ml) (p<0.01), indicatethat fibrindeposition and fibrinolytic exhaustion is a widespread situation in the ICU patients. Fibronectin was significantly reduced (p<0.001) in ARDS and Sepsis patients, low fibronectin levels were related to prognosis (p<0.01).These findings suggest.that critically ill patients, must be evaluated in respect to fibrinolysis and supported when necessary with prophylactic treatment.
