Base IEL resumo: A dissertação inicia-se com uma discussão sobre a crítica existente sobre Antonio Patrício, com vistas a mostrar a desconsideração em que se encontra a obra do autor por boa parte da crítica, especialmente a obra teatral, e apontar para a necessidade de se estudar o teatro que Patrício produziu para se dar conta da dimensão do Movimento Simbolista em Portugal. Parte, em seguida, para uma análise interna das peças Pedro, o cru, Dinis e Isabel e D. João e a Máscara e detecta uma trajetória do sentimento metafísico do poeta na sucessão cronológica destas peças; esta trajetória apresenta como correlato uma modificação sensível no trabalho estilístico do autor, no que concerne ao uso das imagens da natureza. Pedro o cru é eleita como a "a visão patriciana por excelência", por ser uma proposta metafísica original e por ser a que melhor responde ao projeto da obra patriciana. É, portanto, em relação a ela que as contextualizações e a conclusão são feitas. Tendo em vista que uma obra literária nunca é autônoma em relação ao contexto sócio-cultural em que veio à luz, antes guardando com ele profundas e estreitas relações, fez-se necessário um confronto com o teatro simbolista que se produzia na época e com o Movimento Saudosista, encabeçado por Teixeira de Pascoais.

Abstract:
La necesidad de mejorar las actuales condiciones de infraestructura deportiva existentes en el país es un tema que, a priori, genera consenso en la opinión pública. En los últimos años se han conseguido avances significativos en el tema (Red de Estadios del Bicentenario) y todo parece indicar que el paso siguiente es generar condiciones favorables para la práctica deportiva a la mayor cantidad de usuarios posibles. Revisando el impacto que ha tenido el crecimiento económico, traducido en el nivel adquisitivo que hoy ostenta buena parte de la población chilena, podemos observar que el acceso a nuevos bienes, servicios, y tecnologías de la información ha ido configurando progresivamente una ‘sociedad de la inmediatez’ donde el flujo de datos es instantáneo, virtual, haciendo cada vez más prescindible el desplazamiento físico y la ocupación efectiva de los espacios públicos en la ciudad. La parte negativa radica en el deterioro, tanto de los espacios públicos subutilizados, como el que se genera por la condición sedentaria de una población que tiene acceso a prácticamente todo lo que necesite, casi sin necesidad de desplazarse. Esas causas, a las que se suman: carencias, modos de vida, vicios alimenticios arraigados por años, y la ausencia de una verdadera ‘cultura deportiva’ en nuestro país, fomenta la aparición de un creciente grupo de personas que se encuentra expuesto a diversas condiciones patológicas, lo que deriva finalmente en un deterioro de su calidad de vida. Así entonces, el sedentarismo conlleva problemas tanto al individuo, como también al espacio público, la ciudad misma. La generación de equipamientos deportivos de calidad, entonces, se presenta como una invitación a mejorar la calidad de vida de sus usuarios, pero además se presenta como una oportunidad para revitalizar distintos lugares dentro de la ciudad… una nueva forma de entender diferentes funciones, programas, distancias… una posibilidad de entrelazarlos, potenciarlos, y de generar soluciones integrales. La resolución paulatina del déficit de infraestructura deportiva existente, traerá consigo una nueva mirada a la practica deportiva por parte de la sociedad. El conseguir soluciones adecuadas posibilitará la practica masiva de deportes (recreativa, formativa y/ o competitivamente) en condiciones ideales y conformará en el mediano plazo una nueva ‘cultura deportiva’ nacional, lo que puede incidir en la mejora sustancial de la calidad de vida.

PROGRAMA DE SUPORTE À PÓS-GRADUAÇÃO DE INSTS. DE ENSINO
A partir do olhar sobre dois filmes de Patricio Guzmán realizados no Chile após o fim da ditadura de Pinochet (1973-1990) - Chile, memória obstinada (1997) e Nostalgia da Luz (2010) -, discute-se como ele desenvolve uma narrativa mais pessoal – sua guinada subjetiva e reflexiva sobre a história -, considerando, com particular atenção, a memória de seu país. Seus filmes expõem - o gesto arqueológico - não somente narrativas como que soterradas na memória dos entrevistados, que foram omitidas para as novas gerações, mas também a construção de atos corporais de memória e objetos comemorativos. Murais antigos e coloridos são descobertos por trás de grossas camadas de tinta monocrômica, da mesma forma que vestígios humanos e ruínas na árida paisagem do deserto de Atacama, deixando reemergir experiências e versões dos sofrimentos de vidas que, embora tendo ficado no passado, ainda estão fortemente presentes. Ao descrever e discutir detalhes de importantes sequências desses dois filmes, procura-se mostrar como eles obstinadamente resistem e, de forma meditativa, revertem o esquecimento e a ocultação que a história oficial tem sustentado.
Focusing mainly on two films by Patricio Guzmán, produced in Chile after the end of the Pinochet dictatorship (1973-1990) - Chile, obstinate memory (1997) and Nostalgia for the Light (2010), we comment on how he develops a personal and subjective narrative with a particular attention to the memory of his country s and people s past. His films bring out - and that is what we call the archeological gesture - not only narratives which are buried in the memories of the interviewees and had been kept untold (out of reach particularly of the new generation), but also objects like old vivid mural pictures covered up by a non-descriptive coat of paint, as well as remains and ruins of the arid landscape of the Atacama desert, letting reemerge experiences and versions of the past, though still strongly present, lives of suffering. It was mainly when we describe in detail and attentively comment on important sequences of these two films that we succeeded in showing how they obstinately resist and revert the forgetting and obliteration of the accommodating official story.

Ce travail de recherche met en lumière l’itinéraire de Patricio Guzmán, documentariste chilien actif depuis les années 1960. À l’aide d’une approche pluridisciplinaire expérimentale, nous interrogeons les rapports dynamiques entre cinéma documentaire, histoire et mémoires par le biais de la biographie d’un artiste qui devient, progressivement, un médiateur transnational entre le Chili et le monde. Le plan chronologique débute par l’étude de l’adolescence artistique du réalisateur chilien, entre les années 1950 et la fin de l’année 1972, cœur de l’époque de l’Unité Populaire de Salvador Allende. Ensuite, nous nous intéressons aux années 1970, lorsque Patricio Guzmán part en exil après l’arrivée au pouvoir de la dictature de Pinochet. Il crée patiemment la trilogie de La batalla de Chile au sein de la Cuba révolutionnaire, alors que le drame chilien suscite des solidarités multiples à l’échelle internationale. Dans un troisième temps, nous retraçons l’itinéraire de l’exilé chilien dans les années 1980 et 1990, entre Espagne et voyages/aventures créatives, principalement en collaboration avec la Télévision nationale espagnole. L’obstination chilienne demeure, malgré l’éloignement : elle est nourrie par l’expérience d’autres horizons. Enfin, nous consacrons la dernière partie au cinéma documentaire de Patricio Guzmán post-dictature, marqué par des engagements mémoriels exigeants, ainsi que des bouleversements de sa méthode de création. Le réalisateur confirme son statut de référence du documentaire mondial, ainsi que la puissance de ses réseaux transnationaux. Ce travail conjugue contextualisations historiques et analyses des films (et de leurs possibilités d’existence).Les approches historiques et esthétiques permettent d’analyser tous les volets de l’existence d’une œuvre d’art, en nourrissant les sciences humaines d’une analyse macro qui interroge les échelles spatiales et historiques (du local au global). En utilisant également l’analyse esthétique comme révélateur du langage artistique pour discerner l’engagement d’un dépositaire de la création, on cherche à comprendre les chemins d’une œuvre d’art, à travers le temps et l’espace, avec une attention particulière portée aux diffusions et réceptions des films, au Chili comme ailleurs. Ce travail de thèse s’intéresse aux interactions dynamiques entre différentes thématiques qui façonne l’existence du cinéaste chilien (qui a cela en commun avec d’autres artistes à l’existence transnationale) : l’art et ses rapports au monde (engagements, mémoires, exil), la complexité du langage audiovisuel (toujours en mouvement, renouvelé par les transformations socioculturelles ainsi que l’évolution des techniques et supports), l’attrait pour un didactisme, une pédagogie guidée par le désir de partager, de se faire le témoin de l’histoire (passée et présente), etc
This research work brings to light the itinerary of Patricio Guzmán, Chilean documentary filmmaker active since the sixties. With the help of an experimental and multidisciplinary approach, we are questioning the dynamic relationships between cinema, history and memories through the biography of an artist who becomes, gradually, a transnational mediator between Chile and the world. The chronological plan starts by studying the Chilean director’s artistic adolescence, between the fifties and the end of 1972, heart of the time of Salvador Allende’s Popular Unity. Then, we are interested in the seventies, when Patricio Guzmán leaves in exile after the coming of Pinochet’s dictatorship to power. Patiently, he creates The battle of Chile’s trilogy, in the revolutionary Cuba, while the Chilean tragedy generates multiples kinds of solidarities at the international level. In a third step, we retrace the Chilean exile’s itinerary in the eighties and nineties, between Spain and adventures of creative travels, mainly in collaboration with the Spanish National Television. The Chilean obstinacy stays, despites geographical distance : she’s nurtured by others horizon’s experiences. Lastly, we spend the last part of this research focusing on the post-dictatorship’s Patricio Guzmán’s cinema, marked by discerning memorialization’s commitments, as well as turmoil of his creation method. The director confirms his status of documentary’s global reference, as well as the power of his transnationals networks. This research work combines historical contextualization and movie’s analysis (besides of their existence’s possibilities)
Esta investigación se enfoca sobre el itinerario de Patricio Guzmán, documentalista chileno activo desde los años 1960. Con ayuda de un método pluridisciplinario experimental, interrogamos las relaciones dinámicas que unen cine, historia y memorias, por medio de la biografía de un artista que llega a ser, poco a poco, un mediador transnacional entre Chile y el mundo. El plan cronológico empieza por el estudio de su adolescencia artística, entre los años cincuenta y el fin de 1972, corazón del periodo de la Unidad Popular de Salvador Allende. Luego, nos enfocamos sobre los años 1970, cuando Patricio Guzmán entra en el exilio, después de la llegada al poder de la dictadura militar de Pinochet. Él crea, con paciencia, la trilogía de La batalla de Chile, dentro de la Cuba revolucionaria, mientras que el drama chileno genere múltiples solidaridades al nivel internacional. En un tercer momento, volvemos sobre el itinerario del exiliado chileno durante los años 1980 y 90, entre España y viajes/aventuras creativas, principalmente en colaboración con la Televisión Nacional Española. La obstinación chilena se queda, a pesar del alejamiento : es alimentada por la experiencia de otros horizontes. Finalmente, dedicamos la última parte al cine pos-dictadura de Patricio Guzmán, caracterizado por compromisos memoriales exigentes, así como algunos trastornos en su método de creación. El cineasta confirma así su estatuto de referencia del cine documental mundial, así como la potencia de sus redes transnacionales. Esta pesquisa investiga a ironia na obra do artista chileno Patricio Farías, a partir de sua vinda para o Brasil, na década de 1980. Constatada a reincidência desse recurso retórico na trajetória do artista, a pesquisa busca problematizar as circunstâncias em que isso se faz presente e se desenvolve. A metodologia aplicada envolve o uso de entrevistas e leitura de imagens. Ao pretender estabelecer uma certa tipologia, que aponte diferentes nuances da ocorrência da ironia e do humor, a dissertação apresenta três estudos de caso, privilegiando na análise obras bastante distintas: o primeiro capítulo aborda Desaparecidos (1999/2000), o segundo capítulo discute Entendere-new-now (2005), e o terceiro capítulo traz não apenas uma obra, mas um conjunto, em que a relação irônica se dá sob a perspectiva de um comparativo com a produção de Marcel Duchamp. A partir desses procedimentos, objetiva-se refletir e dar destaque ao tema da ironia nas artes visuais na contemporaneidade, ao mesmo tempo, observar criticamente a produção de Patricio Farías, que ainda não mereceu estudos de maior fôlego no país.
This research investigates the irony in the work of the Chilean artist Patricio Farías after his arrival in Brazil in the 1980s. After detecting the recurrence of this rhetorical device in the trajectory of the artist, the research seeks to problematize the circumstances in which irony evolves itself. The adopted methodology involves the use of interviews and image reading. In order to establish a certain typology, which points out different nuances of irony and humor, this dissertation presents three case studies, focusing the analysis on quite distinct works: the first chapter covers the work Desaparecidos (1999/2000), the second chapter discusses Entendere-new-now (2005), and the third chapter brings not only one work, but a group of them, in which the relationship with irony takes place from a comparative perspective of Marcel Duchamp’s work. Based on these procedures, the objective is to highlight and ponder the irony in the visual arts in the contemporaneity, while at the same time critically observing the production of Patricio Farías, who has not received deep studies in Brazil.

Abstract:
This work situates Patricio Guzmàn's Nostalgia for the Light in the broader field of essay documentary film and unveils it as a locus of discursive resistance and the generative crux of diverse conventionally isolated academic dialogues. In doing so, it addresses the challenging and controversial questions of historical meaning-making, remembrance and oblivion, melancholia and mourning. My thesis also endeavors to detect the dynamic and anxiety-inducing threshold between singularity and collectivity, and the human and the cosmic. I lay the historically unprecedented common ground for trauma theory and the essayistic comportment and argue that bearing the clash of time planes, paradoxicality, ambiguity, and aporias at its heart, the essayistic endeavor simulates the ontology of trauma itself. In my theorization, both operate via the originary metaphorical overleaping of matter between physical and metaphysical spheres, conscious and unconscious themes. These figurative transferences creatively transgress registers, genres, sharply-contoured discourses, and translate between the multiple surfaces of human existence and experience. I propose that the essayistic meandering of moving along residues and fissures opens up a more ethical approach to trauma. Such a disposition diverges from the positivist certitude of polarizing, moralizing, and sublimating narratives which inevitably lead to foreclosure. Filtering my arguments through the film's aestheticization of absence, I offer an ethical and responsible stance toward trauma and reveal its affective force as the substrate of our intricate relations to the other and our organic and non-organic environment.

Salvador Allende is a documentary released in 2003 by Patricio Guzmán. It is proposed as a biopic of personal life and political career of former Chilean democratically elected president in September 1970 by a multi-party composition of the left, the Unidade Popular. In defense of a legal and democratic path to socialism, the Allende government achieved successes both in political and economic area, but at the same time had to face the decisive intervention of the right sectors that relied on massive Unite States investment in overthrowing their government. Salvador Allende was the founder and leader of the Chilean Socialist Party and won the presidential election after three successive election campaigns. Its government base, the Unidade Popular, was composed by sector representatives not only of the Socialist Party, but also communists, center-left sectors and sectors of the radical left. This plural political arrangement was a decisive factor in defining the direction of the Government Allende crisis. After the visit of Fidel Castro in December 1971, the reactionary sectors have adopted media strategies and tactics increasingly decisive policies that culminated in the military coup of September 11, 1973. The release of the film Salvador Allende took the events around the thirty years of the military coup to reconstruct this history. Taking into account that every movie involves choices as the definition of interviews, certain sound interventions, songs and archival footage and different narrative strategies, this thesis collates historical arguments brought by the film with a consolidated bibliography on the subject
Lançado em 2003, o filme Salvador Allende, de Patricio Guzmán, propõe-se como uma cinebiografia da vida pessoal e carreira política do ex-presidente chileno eleito democraticamente em setembro de 1970 por uma composição multipartidária de esquerda, a Unidade Popular. Na defesa de uma via legal e democrática rumo ao socialismo, o Governo Allende obteve êxitos tanto na área política quanto econômica, mas ao mesmo tempo teve que enfrentar as decisivas intervenções dos setores da direita que contavam com investimentos maciços dos Estados Unidos na derrubada de seu governo. De formação multifacetada, Salvador Allende foi fundador e líder do Partido Socialista chileno e venceu as eleições presidenciais após três sucessivas campanhas eleitorais. A sua base de governo, a Unidade Popular, era composta por setores representantes não só do Partido Socialistas, mas também comunistas, setores de centro-esquerda e setores da esquerda radical. Esse arranjo político plural foi um fator decisivo na definição dos rumos da crise do Governo Allende. Após a visita de Fidel Castro em dezembro de 1971, os setores reacionários adotaram estratégias midiáticas e táticas políticas cada vez mais decisivas que culminam no golpe militar de onze de setembro de 1973. O lançamento do filme Salvador Allende se vale das efemérides em torno dos trinta anos do golpe militar para reconstituir essa história. Levando em conta que todo filme envolve escolhas como a definição de entrevistados, determinadas intervenções sonoras, canções e imagens de arquivo e diversas estratégias narrativas, a presente dissertação coteja os argumentos históricos ensejados pelo filme com uma bibliografia consolidada sobre o tema

Abstract:
La presente tesis doctoral, Los palimpsestos de una contramemoria literaria: Una arqueología de la poética novelística de Patricio Manns, tiene como propósito principal resignificar la obra del escritor chileno en los estudios sobre literatura contemporánea. Nuestra matriz teórico-metodológica es la propuesta del Dr. Manuel Asensi Pérez denominada la Crítica del sabotaje, elaborada conceptualmente tras años de estudio, ejercicio docente e investigación en universidades de España, Francia y Estados Unidos y luego sistematizada y publicada como texto teórico el año 2011. En líneas generales, la creación literaria de Manns ha sido considerada más bien como una addenda, una vía de escape a su condición de músico, siendo bastante desconocida su faceta de novelista dentro de su quehacer artístico general, incluso desde el mundo de la academia. En este mismo sentido, los escasos estudios existentes sobre su obra específicamente narrativa destacan determinados aspectos político-ideológicos presentes en su obra, señalándolos como una clara insuficiencia de su estatuto escritural. Esta situación es altamente contradictoria, si se toma en consideración su inmensa popularidad en el canto popular chileno y latinoamericano, debido a su condición de fundador de la nueva Canción Chilena (NCCH), movimiento artístico cultural iniciado en la década de 1960 y cuyo máximo apogeo se da en los momentos previos al Golpe de Estado de 1973. En este contexto, nos proponemos demostrar que, muy por el contrario, la temprana “ideología” mannsiana deviene actualmente en una cosmovisión/paradigma y una peculiar poética novelística de muy alto nivel, hecho que se puede graficar de forma evidente en su obra El desorden en un cuerno de niebla (1999) y en varias de sus novelas posteriores. La justificación de la presente tesis obedece entonces a analizar en profundidad las causas de la evidente antinomia entre la condición de Patricio Manns como músico y compositor, actividad artística en que goza de altos niveles de popularidad y detenta una fama internacional, y su faceta de novelista de culto, sólo para especialistas, alejado de los circuitos oficiales de la cultura chilena. En este sentido, nos anima desentrañar la arquitectura de su peculiar novelística, examinar sus principales imaginarios y develar cómo la aparente condición críptica de su lenguaje literario no constituye sino la articulación metafórica de Chile y Latinoamérica en un proyecto discursivo riguroso, ajeno a las modas literarias, de calidad, en la profunda acepción del término, profundamente comprometido con el hombre y sus circunstancias históricas. Dentro de la estructura de la presente tesis doctoral, el capítulo uno ofrece el marco teórico-metodológico de la tesis y una descripción de las principales ideas fuerza y/o conceptos en convergencia con Patricio Manns en sus diversos periodos narrativos. El capítulo dos opera como marco referencial deductivo sobre Patricio Manns (datos biográficos, generación literaria, poética novelística mannsiana). En el capítulo tres, “Arqueologías”, hay una puesta en práctica tanto de los fundamentos teóricos explicitados en el capítulo uno como el conjunto de la información recopilada y sistematizada sobre Patricio Manns del capítulo dos, elaborando un total de diez análisis literarios y dos breves comentarios sobre su obra narrativa. Finalmente el capítulo cuatro se denomina “Isotopías de la novelística mannsiana” y ofrece las principales conclusiones de nuestros análisis de la obra mannsiana, los argumentos principales que nos llevan a destacar y reexaminar su calidad en el contexto literario chileno actual.
The present doctoral thesis: Palimpsests of a literary counter memoir: Archaeology of Patricio Manns’ novelistic poetry, has a main purpose which is to enhance the works of this Chilean writer about contemporary literature. Our theoretical-methodological matrix is Dr. Manuel Asensi Perez`s proposal called Critic of Sabotage, conceptually elaborated after years of studying, teaching and investigating in universities of Spain, France and The United States, and later, systematized and published as a theoretic text in 2011. Generally speaking, Manns’ literary creation has been considered as addenda, a way to escape from his natural condition, a musician, while his writer phase is highly unknown within his different artistic works, even in the academic world. In this same sense, in the scarce studies available about his narrative works it outstands the political-ideological aspects that are present in his work and which have been considered as an insufficiency of his writing status. This situation is highly contradicted if we take into consideration his enormous popularity of his music among the Chile and Latin American songs. All this due to his status as founder of The New Chilean Song, a musical and cultural movement that started in the sixties which had its highpoint during the previous moments of the Coup d’état in 1973. Under this context we pretend to demonstrate that, on the contrary, the early Manns “ideology” turned into a present world view/paradigm and a peculiar novelistic poetry of high standards and which can be clearly illustrated in his book El desorden en un cuerno de niebla (Disorder in a horn of mist) (1999) and in several of his later novels. The justification of the present thesis has the purpose to deeply the causes of this paradoxical contradiction between Patricio Manns the music composer, with a high national and international popularity, and the other Manns, the intellectual novel writer, only for specialists, far away from the official world of the Chilean culture. Under this perspective, we intend to unravel the structure of his peculiar writings, to examine his imaginary principles and reveal how the apparent cryptic condition of his literary language is nothing but the metaphoric articulation of Chile and Latin America in a rigorous speech project. Speech that is apart from current literary trends, with high quality and deeply involved with the human beings and their historic circumstances. Starting with this examination, we intend to end up our investigation with a theoretical proposal that may offer – in its form as well as in its content- reading clues to re-evaluate Patricio Manns’ novels, especially in Chile. Within the structure of this thesis, chapter one offers a theoretic-methodological frame of the thesis and a description of the main ideas, strength and/or concepts that meet Patricio Manns in his diverse narrative periods. Chapter two works as a deductive reference frame of Patricio Manns (biographical information, literary production and Manns’ novelistic poetry) In chapter three, “Archaeologies”, there are practical examples of the theoretical fundaments presented in chapter on as well as the collected and systemized information about Patricio Manns referred in chapter two; totalizing ten literary analysis and two briefs comments on his narrative work. Finally, chapter four is called “Isotopies of Manns’ Novels” and it shows the main conclusions of our analysis on Manns works, the principal arguments that lead us to highlight and examine his quality in the present Chilean literary context.

Este projeto de pesquisa tem como objetivo final analisar o percurso que Patricio Guzmán desenvolveu como documentarista, através de seus modos de abordagem da história contemporânea do Chile, com particular destaque ao filme Nostalgia da Luz (Chile, 2010), que consideramos constituir, de certo modo, uma síntese de sua evolução como realizador. A hipótese principal é a de que podemos situar essa obra a partir das noções de filme ensaio. Para tal empreendimento, serão considerados ainda, do mesmo diretor, os documentários O poder popular (1979, terceira parte da trilogia A Batalha do Chile) e Chile, a memória obstinada (1997), como corpus de pesquisa complementar.
This project has as its final objective to analyze the path that Patricio Guzmán developed as a documentary filmmaker, through his ways of approaching the contemporary history of Chile, with particular reference to the film Nostalgia da Luz (2010) which we believe to constitute, in a certain way, a synthesis of his evolution as a director. The main hypothesis is that we can situate this work as from the essay-film notions. For such enterprise will be further considered, from the same director, the documentaries O poder popular (1979), third part of the trilogy A Batalha do Chile, and Chile, a memória obstinada (1997) as supplementary research corpus.

Esta dissertação versa sobre as representações fílmicas da utopia na trilogia “A Batalha do Chile”, do cineasta chileno Patrício Guzmán. Buscando articular uma abordagem materialista da sociologia estética com o desenvolvimento categórico de Ernst Bloch acerca do fenômeno da utopia. O texto analisa os filmes cujas imagens e sons foram tomados em película de 16mm de forma direta no decorrer das movimentações e mobilizações políticas que aconteceram com ao acirramento da luta de classes durante o governo de Salvador Allende, no Chile entre 1970 e 1973. A película fora montada e lançada durante o exílio do cineasta nos anos seguintes ao golpe militar desferido em 11 de setembro de 1973. Ao entender que a arte, através do entrecruzamento entre forma e conteúdo, carrega elementos de representação do mundo social, através de uma análise estético sociológica, buscou-se fazer uma leitura de tais representações construídas no dado momento histórico. Portanto, o objetivo fora constituir um conhecimento acerca da forma como o tema da Utopia fora abordado artisticamente pelo cineasta. No caso do cinema, as soluções técnicas e estéticas constituem a expressividade autoral do cineasta, que formula em sua produção uma dada forma de apresentação da realidade social que constitui ao mesmo tempo sua autenticidade artística e sua visão esteticamente mediatizada do mundo, sendo essa visão legitimada socialmente (dentro dos mecanismos de validação próprios do campo artístico). Nesse sentido, sua obra acaba por ser um objeto privilegiado para o entendimento da arte como fenômeno social, nos seus aspectos estéticos, históricos e sociológicos. Mais especificamente, o filme documentário aqui estudado é influenciado por uma perspectiva cinematográfica vinculada aos elementos de renovação estética dos novos cinemas, sob influência direta ou indireta do cinema soviético (Dziga Vertov, Eisenstein), do neorrealismo italiano, da novelle vague francesa, e do novo cinema latinoamericano. Sofreu impacto direto da proliferação das tecnologias de tomada da imagem e som sincrônico, ambas possibilitadas pela câmera Eclair e o gravador de som Nagra-4, o que deu mobilidade aos cineastas da época, constituindo uma nova estética de um cinema documentário muito mais participativo. Desta forma, seguindo uma tendência à postura politizada dos cineastas da época, o talento de Guzmán na utilização das possibilidades técnicas e estéticas ao retratar a efervescência política de caráter prérevolucionário vivida no Chile retratado, propiciou uma obra autêntica, tida como uma das mais importantes na história do cinema documentário mundial, e que traz uma série de imagens utópicas desse momento histórico.
The present dissertation discusses the filmographic representations of utopia in the trilogy "A Batalha do Chile" ("The Battle of Chile"), by the Chilean filmmaker Patrício Guzmán. It tries to articulate a materialist approach to aesthetic sociology with the categorical development by Ernst Bloch about the utopia phenomenon. The text analyzes the movies whose images and sounds have been taken in 16mm film in a direct way during the political movements and mobilizations that took place with the aggravation of the class fight during Salvador Allende government, between 1970 and 1973 in Chile. The film was edited and released during the filmmaker's exile in the years following the military coup set forth in September 11th 1973. By understanding that art, through the intertwining between form and content, bears representation elements to the social world, and by means of an aesthetic sociological analysis, the present dissertation seeks to read such representations under the light of their historical moment. Therefore, the objective has been to constitute a knowledge about the way the Utopia subject has been artistically approached by the filmmaker. In his case, the technical and aesthetic solutions constitute the filmmaker's authorial expressiveness , which formulates in his production a certain way of presenting the social reality which constitutes at the same time his artistic authenticity and his aesthetically mediatized vision of the world, being this vision socially legitimized (within the validation mechanisms pertaining to the artistic field). In this sense, his work ends up being a privileged object for the understanding of art as a social phenomenon, in its aesthetical, historical and sociological aspects. More specifically, the documentary film presently studied is influenced by a cinematographic perspective linked to the aesthetic renovation elements of the new cinemas, under direct or indirect influence of the soviet cinema (Dziga Vertov, Eisenstein), the italian neo-realism, the french nouvelle vague and the new latin american cinema. It has been under direct impact of the synchronous image and sound capturing technologies, both made possible by the Eclair camera and the Nagra-4 sound recorder, which gave mobility to the filmmakers back then, constituting a much more participative new aesthetics of a documentary cinema. In this way, following a trend to the politized position of the filmmakers of that time, the talent of Guzmán in using the technical and aesthetic possibilities when portraying the political effervescence of prerevolutionary characteristic lived in the portrayed Chile, has enabled an authentic work, considered to be one of the most important in the history of world documentary cinema, and which brings a series of utopical images of that historical moment.

This research aims comprehends and analyse the participation of the entrepeneur Otávio Lage in the process of conservative modernization in the Middletown of Goianésia. For this purpose it was necessary to dialogue with nationwide socioeconomic projects adopted by Getúlio Vargas governmental policy in order to fulfill the nation s empty spaces aiming disseminating the migrants flown fron the southeast region of Brazil, reinforced by the ideology named the March to the West associated with a modernization speech. In Goiás national policy is notable with the foundation of Agricultural Colonies in the old Middle North of the estate of Goiás. Therefore, the region nowadays called as the Vale São Patricio is sorrunded by dozens of towns wich were born fron the opening of the agricultural frontiers of the state of Goiás. Goianésia is at present a town of great importance for the state economy. One of its economic soucers comes fron the sugarcane Mill Jalles Machado, founded by Otávio Lage de Siqueira, who was endowed witch charism and leadership. Otávio Lage, in this researche, a reference on the analysis of the urbanization and modernization of Goianésia, having as support for the ramifications made by the groupe Otávio Lage de Siqueira. Another point to be considered is the way adapted to reach sucess on this project, were is notable the modern utilization of the ways of production and the agricultural exploration.
Esta pesquisa visa compreender e analisar a participação do empresário de Otávio Lage no processo de modernização conservadora no município de Goianésia. Para tal intento foi necessário dialogar com projetos socioeconômicos de abrangência nacional adotada pela política governamental de Getúlio Vargas em ocupar os espaços vazios da nação com o objetivo de disseminar o fluxo migratório da região sudeste do Brasil, embasada pela ideologia denominada Marcha para o Oeste associada a um discurso de modernização. Em Goiás esta política nacional é perceptível com a fundação das Colônias Agrícolas no antigo meio norte do Estado de Goiás. Sendo assim a região hoje denominada Vale do São Patrício é ladeada por dezenas de municípios que nasceram da abertura das fronteiras agrícolas do Estado de Goiás. Goianésia é um município na atualidade de grande relevância para a economia do Estado. Uma das suas fontes econômicas advém da Usina Sucroalcooleira Jalles Machado, fundada por Otávio Lage de Siqueira. Dotado de carisma e liderança, Otávio Lage torna-se nesta pesquisa referência para a analise da urbanização e modernização de Goianésia, tendo como suporte para a compreensão a Usina Jalles Machado e as ramificações feitas pela empresa do Grupo Otávio Lage de Siqueira. Outro ponto a ser considerado é a forma adotada para se alcançar sucesso neste empreendimento, onde é perceptível a utilização da modernização dos meios de produção, da exploração agrícola.

Cette thèse avait pour objectif l’étude des propriétés catalytiques de la zéolithe HMCM-22 (Si/Al=14. 5) et de déterminer le rôle de chaque système poreux dans les réactions de transformation du méthylcyclohexane et du n-heptane à 350ºC. La participation catalytique de chaque système poreux a été déterminée en désactivant sélectivement les sites acides des supercages et en empoisonnant ceux des coupes externes. Les deux réactions se déroulent principalement dans les supercages. Les canaux sinusoïdaux présentent une faible activité due à d’importantes contraintes stériques. Les résultats ont révélé par ailleurs que les sites acides des coupes externes ne sont pas capables de catalyser la réaction du n-heptane, ce qui peut être attribué à une force acide plus faible et/ou à l’absence de l’effet de confinement dans les coupes externes. L’adsorption des différentes molécules a permit de déterminer le volume microporeux de chaque système. La zéolithe HMCM-22 présente un comportement intermédiaire entre la zéolithe USHY (pores larges) et la zéolithe HZSM-5 (pores intermédiaires) dans les deux réactions, cependant elle présente des activités par site acide plus proches de HZSM-5. La désalumination de la zéolite HMCM-22 par lavage acide élimine principalement les sites acides des coupes externes et des supercages alors que les sites acides des canaux sinusoïdaux ne sont pratiquement pas affectés
MCM-22 has a very peculiar pore structure with three independent pore systems: narrow sinusoidal channels (4. 1×5. 1 Å), large supercages (ø 7. 1 Å, height 18. 2 Å) accessible through (4. 0×5. 5 Å) openings and external cups (ø 7. 1 Å, depth 7. 0 Å). The aim of this thesis was to study the global catalytic properties and ascertain the catalytic role of each pore system of HMCM-22 zeolite (Si/Al=14. 5) on methylcyclohexane and n-heptane transformations at 350ºC. To this end, the participation of each pore system was established by selectively deactivating the supercages through coke deposition and poisoning the external cups acid sites. Supercages play the major catalytic role on both reactions. Sinusoidal channels present a very low activity due to high steric constraints. External cups acid sites are more active than those of supercages in methylcyclohexane transformation due to the absence of diffusion limitations. The results revealed that the external cups acid sites are not able to catalyze n-heptane reaction, which is ascribed to a lower acid strength and/or to the absence of confinement effect in the external cups. Adsorption of different molecules allowed the determination of the micropore volume of each pore system. An intermediate behavior of HMCM-22 between USHY (large pores) and HZSM-5 (intermediate pores) zeolites was observed on both reactions. The activities per acid site of HMCM-22 zeolite were closer to those of HZSM-5. Dealumination by acid leaching of the HMCM-22 zeolite removed mainly the acid sites located on the supercages and external cups, whereas those of the sinusoidal channels were almost not affected

L'étude comparative de la source latine et des versifications françaises médiévales montre qu'il s'agit non seulement d'une " translation " mais véritablement d'une réécriture, obéissant à une stylistique porteuse de sens. La tonalité religieuse originelle devient littéraire, notamment dans la réécriture de Marie de France. La légende se place aux frontières de diverses formes, dont celle du roman. Son protagoniste est chevalier mais il est en rivalité avec la clergie dans la quête du salut. Les textes dévoilent un au-delà accessible ici-bas, surtout le très nouveau " purgatoire ", révélateur de ce que sont l'homme et le monde du Moyen Age
The legend of saint Patrick's purgatory shifts back and forth between imagination and reality, thus nourishing the literature and imagination of medieval times and beyond. The comparative study of the Latin source and French medieval verse versions shows it to be not only a "translation" but also a genuine rewriting,, providing meaningful stylistic effects. What was originally a religious atmosphere becomes literary, especially in Marie de France's rewriting. The legend is set at the junction of a diversity of forms, including that of the novel. The main character is a knight but one who is competing with the clergy in the quest for salvation. The texts disclose another world accessible from earth, and especially the new place for purgatory, revealing the characteristics of the medieval man and world

Abstract:
The majority of electrical energy in the United States is produced by fossil fuels, which release harmful greenhouse gas emissions and are non-renewable resources. The U.S. Department of Energy has established goals for a smart electric power grid, which facilitates the incorporation of clean, renewable generation sources, such as wind. A major challenge in incorporating renewable energy sources onto the power grid is balancing their intermittent and often unpredictable nature. In addition, wind generation is typically higher at night, when consumer demand is low. Residential electric water heaters (EWHs), which currently account for 20% of the U.S. residential daily energy demand, are the largest contributors to the morning and evening peaks in residential power demand. The simulations in this thesis tested the hypothesis that controlling the thermostat setpoints of EWHs can shift EWH electrical energy demand from hours of higher demand to hours of lower demand, provide a large percentage of the balancing reserves necessary to integrate wind energy generation onto the electric power grid, and economically benefit the customer, while maintaining safe water temperatures and without significantly increasing average daily power demand or maximum power demand of the EWHs. In the experimental simulation, during on-peak hours for demand, when electricity prices are high, the thermostat setpoints of EWHs were set to the minimum, in order to consume minimal energy. The result was that the vast majority of EWH demand occurred during off-peak hours, a significant improvement over the base case (normal operation in which no setpoint control was implemented). During off-peak hours, the thermostat setpoints of EWHs were controlled by the utility in order to provide balancing reserves necessary to maintain power system stability when wind generation is included in the system. The EWHs were able to provide the balancing reserves desired by the utility a majority of the time. In this combined control method, the customer benefitted financially by saving in electrical energy costs when compared to the base case, the EWH water temperatures always remained within safe limits. There was only a small increase in the total energy consumption, but the peak power demand did not change.

Action, divertissement, c'est ce que propose a ses lecteurs la romanciere americaine patricia highsmith. Toutefois, sous couvert d'histoires policieres, elle traite du probleme de l'humain. L'humain, homme ou femme, homme et femme. Sur la scene de son texte, hommes et femmes se heurtent, s'affrontent, se dechirent, se tuent. Tandis que meles aux mots maux, masculin et feminin se fondent, se confondent, brouillent les pistes. Les pistes qui, si on les remonte en suivant les indices egrenes au fil des romans, menent au personnage central de l'oeuvre : la mere. Cet autre primordial, dont l'influence sourd entre les pages et rebondit de roman en roman, est au centre de la quete identitaire des heros. Des heros et non des heroines. L'auteur, en effet, a l'exception de edith (edith's diary) a choisi des personnages masculins pour dire le mal de vivre. Ces hommes sensibles, intelligents et attachants, deviennent des meurtriers. En donnant la mort, ils esperent se separer de celle qui leur a donne de vie. Dans une ultime tentative de reparation ils tentent d'etouffer de feminin qui, tout a la fois, les angoisse et les attire. Les personnages feminins existent, bien sur, chez highsmith. Ce sont pour la plupart des epouses aigries que l'auteur utilise, a des fins dramatiques, pour pousser l'homme au meurtre. La mort rode dans les romans de patricia highsmith. Quete et enquete se superposent, s'enchevetrent. L'ingeniosite de l'intrique rivalise avec l'anbiguite des personnages. Des hommes et des femmes fragiles, malheureux, a la recherche du bonheur. Des gens finalement bien ordinaires. Comme elle les aimait. .
Action, entertainment, this is what patricia highsmith, the american novelist is aming at in her books. She writes thrillers but behind this label lies something more crucial than mere entertainment : despair. The despair of human beings, men and women with their feminine and masculine tendencies. On the setting of her text, men and women argue, fight, wound each other and finally kill each other. Words unveil the fusion confusion of the characters' ambiguous emotions, blurring the tracks. If one traces the heroes' personal history, linking the clues scattered in the novels, one is led to the main character of patricia highsmith's work : the mother. That "primal other" whose influence springs from the page and reappears in each novel, is at the core of the characters' search for identity. Male and not female characters. Except edith (edith's diary), the author has elected male characters to convey the difficulty of living. Those sensitive, intelligent and engaging men become murderers. In killing they hope to free themselves from the mother, that "other" who gave them life. In a final attempt to recover their selves, they try to smother that feminine mark which all at once frightens and seduces them. For sure, female characters do exist in patricia highsmith's novels. Most of them are bitchy wives that the author uses for dramatic ends : to push men to murder. Death hovers in highsmith's novels : search and investigation entangle into an ultimate fade-in to emphasize, beyond the thrilling plot,. .

Patrícia Zangaro trabalha a questão do espaço junto com as idéias de fronteira, periferia e do outro como o sujeito que se pode olhar detrás da linha que separa os territórios de pertença, no lugar do deslocamento. Pensar em uma periferia é pensar em um centro que é seu oposto. Por outro lado, a leitura da representação do espaço abre outros sentidos nos tópicos do corpo, do dinheiro e da língua que aqui analisaremos. El objetivo del siguiente trabajo es realizar una lectura de la representación del espacio en los textos de Patricia Zangaro. Tout au long de cette recherche, de nombreux aspects linguistiques étaient soumis à l'analyse afin de pouvoir relever leurs principales caractèristiques. L'étude de ces différents niveaux textuels a permis de constater que c'est au moyen de l'économie narrative, descriptive, explicative et syntaxique que l'attente romanesque est frustrée. La définition de l'horizon d'attente du lecteur à notre époque a permis de montrer comment les romans de Modiano répondent à ces exigences, mais aussi et surtout comment ils la déjouent. De nombreux changements de sujet, des lacunes narratives et descriptives, l'absence de guidage de la part du narrateur donnent seulement en apparence un aspect décousu aux romans de Modiano. En réalité, de nombreux moyens grammaticaux, sémantiques et syntaxiques assurent la cohésion non seulement entre les parties du même texte, mais aussi au niveau intertextuel, contribuant ainsi à l'unité suprême de l'oeuvre. Cette approche particulière et intéressante de la présentation de l'univers romanesque justifie pleinement l'existence du terme "style modianiste".
