Abstract:
Tannhäuser rehabilitated (V) – « La quatrième »’s image in the parisian press –Ernst Van Dyck and the others The fifth part of the cycle is devoted to the presentation of the main Parisian musical critics’ opinions on the Tannhäuser’s performance at Palais Garnier on May 13th, 1895, conducted by Paul Taffanel and directed by Alexander Lapissida. If these journalists – such as Jacques Weber of Le Temps, Catulle Mendès of La Revue de Paris, Hippolyte Fierens-Gevaert of Journal des débats, Paul Dukas of La Revue hebdomadaire, Ferdinand Le Borne of Le Monde artiste, Henry Gauthier-Villars of L’Écho de Paris, Alfred Bruneau of Gil Blas, and some others that are recalled in the article, were not unanimous on various aspects of this production, all of them considered Ernest Van Dyck, interpreting the title role, as the principle triumphator of the evening.

Full text
Abstract:
Nyckelord: motivation, läromedel, lärares syn, Paul Ernest.<br>The purpose of this study was to investigate what motives teachers in primary school give for their choices and use of textbooks and teaching materials. The study focusses on how teachers argue around these choices and their choises and arguments in relation to their belifes about teaching and learning mathematics. Of particular interest are arguments related to teacher enhancement of student motivation. I wanted to find out how teachers use the textbook in class, if a textbook is used and if it is supplemented with another theaching materials. The term teaching materials is in this study used to include all materials that aims to help student acquire knowledge in mathematics. Examples of teaching materials that occur in the study are textbooks, hands-on materials and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The study was conducted using a questionnaire with open-ended questions that were answered by six teachers, and a telephone interview. That results emerging from the study show that the textbook dominates in mathematics education. The results also show that the teachers often chose textbooks and teaching materials without much reflection. To motivate students to learn mathematics teachers use different strategies. Several contextual and social limitations appear in the results, including the teacher's lack of knowledge of ICT and teacher's number of years in the profession. Keywords: motivation, teaching materials, teachers' views, Paul Ernest.

Olives, Palenzuela Juan José. "Para una filosofía de la música. Un enfoque fenomenológico. Aproximación al pensamiento de Ernest Ansermet." Doctoral thesis, Universitat de Barcelona, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/10803/282030.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis intends to examine the fundamental lines of thought of Ernest Ansermet(1), principally concerning the constitution of music in human consciousness. The study therefore aims to demonstrate, by pursuing the arc of Ansermet’s inquiries, how music has its origins in the relationship that is established between structures in consciousness and those from the world of sounds. The place where music occurs is one of an imaginary space-temporality resulting from the projection of our psychic space upon the space that surrounds us, and consequently, the expansion of our internal sense of time into a sonic space, likewise imaginary, one based on the time of the music itself. This musical space-time is therefore a structured space necessarily consisting of tonal correspondences, the only ones, according to Ansermet, that ensure a holistic understanding of the essential phenomenon of music. This is because within a framework of tonality, the emotional activity of consciousness can succeed, an activity responsible for the engagement produced between the auditory and musical consciousnesses. Thus, tonality becomes for Ansermet the inexcusable condition for the meaning of music. Musical consciousness is thus tonal consciousness. The agent in this transfiguration is the imaginary consciousness (conscience imageante), expressed by Sartre in L´imaginaire and L´être et le néant. In an initial sense, the Sartrean imaginary consciousness is an intentional consciousness, a fundamental concept in the philosophy of Husserl (in a secondary consideration, it would be derived from the Heideggerian Dasein). From the reading of Husserl and Sartre, Ansermet would adopt the idea of phenomenology and convert it into an original philosophical “view” and a methodological tool for his own thought. From the processes of reflection to the transcendence of form, by way of the appearance of music in sound and the description of time in music, our work aims to further Ansermet’s ideas and contribute to studies on music that have been made from a phenomenological perspective. //1// Ernest Ansermet (Vevey [Switzerland], 1883 - Geneva, 1969), orchestra conductor, founder and musical director of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, and a trained mathematician, was also an remarkable thinker who took great interest both in the philosophical issues posed to him by questions regarding music as well as music itself. His main written work, Les fondements de la musique dans la conscience humaine, consisted of a systematic overview of all those concerns and inquiries.

Abstract:
C'est le point de vue d'un compositeur et d'un analyste, soucieux de penetrer les secrets de la creation musicale<br>This thesis , entitled "the revival of the french symphony - 1870-1900works " , tackles , in an analytic vision, six symphonies which are representative of the revival of french symphony. ( it is the continuation and the extension of a previous thesis entitled " the revival of the french symphony - 1870-1900 - the mouvement in 1886 " ): the symphony in d minor by c. Franck, the cevenol symphony in g major by v. D'indy, the symphony with organ in c by g. Camille saint-saens, the symphony in g minor by e. Lalo, the symphony in b major by e. Chausson, the symphony in c. Major by p. Dukas. For each piece, we first show the whole of the thematic material, then we study it, theme after theme, cyclic element after cyclic element, from this catalogue, form is described, the languages are expressed in their entire conception: melodic, rythmic, harmonic, contrapuntic and instrumental. This work aims to propose at the same time a workingtool, a complete research into sometimes little known works, a new outlook for a new analysis, which would happily couple technique and aesthetics. This is the point of view of a composer and analyst, concerned with the secrets of musical creation

Nisto, a educação informal se relaciona intrinsecamente com a pesca artesanal, sendo essencial a sua manutenção, na medida em que possa se contrapor aos efeitos nefastos de uma escolarização voltada para o mercado.<br>We investigate the relationship between the informal education and the maintenance of artisanal fisheries and the livelihood of fishermen in the colony of fishermen Z-9 in São José da Coroa Grande, a city of the southern coast of Pernambuco. We used, since a methodology joint between Paul Ricoeur and Ernesto Lacrau, the oral history, exploring categories such as craftsmanship, solidarity economy, popular economy, informal education. The collected data were transcribed and analysed carefully, using categories established by the encounter between theory and empirical data. We concluded that the identity of the fishermen is essentially discursive, building or losing political power to the extent of its ability to not to get caught by the dominant social logic, equalized by the interests of the Capital and, specifically, by the Industrial fisheries. This informal education is closelyrelated to artisanal fisheries, being essencial for its maintainance, to the extent that it can counteract the harmful effects of a market-oriented schooling.

Abstract:
Samuel George Morton’s work was not only foundational for an American physical anthropology that was associated with polygenism; Morton’s crania atlases that instantiated his development of a seemingly rigorously diagrammatic and metric approach triggered follow-up projects internationally and generally were a stepping stone in the development of a polygenist physical anthropology. The final chapter of the first part deals with the role of diagrams in this development up to the detailed diagrammatic and metric system of the influential French anthropologist Paul Broca. With Crania ethnica (1882) by Jean Louis Armand de Quatrefages and Jules Ernest Théodore Hamy, newly discovered ‘fossil human races’ were integrated into the existing systems of contemporary ‘races’.
