Full textAlthough SDRs have been around in the research community for over a decade, they have not reached the point of transitioning to the mass consumer market, size being one of the major obsta-cles. Numerous SDR hardware platforms have been developed demonstrating successful function-ality, yet to this day most of them remain trapped in desktop/benchtop form factors which are not suited for mobility. A main factor contributing to the size of SDR units is the RF front end. Using current technology, wide-band operation of SDR RF front-ends is achieved by aggregating mul-tiple dedicated components, each covering a portion of the frequency range. Recent technology advances have enabled the integration of wide frequency functionality inside a single integrated package. One example is a prototype RFIC transceiver chip from Motorola Research Labs which contains a complete direct conversion RF transceiver in a single chip, with a frequency coverage range of 100MHz-2.4GHz. RFIC5, the latest version of the chip, has additionally integrated high speed ADC and DAC units, leading to a significant reduction in the component count and the overall size of the SDR hardware.
This thesis describes the implementation of a highly compact, SDR PC plug-in card, known as
PicoRF. PicoRF is based on the Motorolaâ s RFIC chip for the RF front-end functionality, while
the combined computational power of a V5 FPGA and a PC host is used for waveform signal
processing. An overlay gird consisting of an interconnection of PR slots is reserved on the FPGA
to host the components of a signal processing pipeline which can be modified during run-time.
Through a high speed PCIe connection, partial bitstreams can be downloaded from the host PC to
the FPGA at a very high speed making it possible for the radio to modify its function in very short
time intervals and greatly reducing the service interruption time. Control software running on the
PC host manages the overall system operation including the RFIC which is controlled through a
custom developed API. The combination of the laptop host and the plug-in card form a small form
factor, mobile SDR node that is one step towards satisfying both the performance and ergonomics
demand of the consumer market.

By improvement of science technology and rapidly development of internetm, it is more important for secret and security of information. Due to the charactoristics of smart cards, such as computation and protection, we can use it to achive high security. In tradition, the login mode of Linux takes passwords of users for authentication. By this way, there exist some shortcomings in security and passwords of users may be easily stolen. Once the passwords are stolen, illegal users can voluntarily login as the same as the owners. We can avoid this condition by using smart cards for login. On the other hand, there are more application with them. This Linix smart card login system uses PC/SC standard interface to access smart cards. In addition, because USB is current common I/O interface, the USB development organization released the CCID(Chip Card Interface Device) specification for smart card interface devices. Each CCID-Compiant smart card readers will plug and play as current USB mouses in future. Thus, here we also implement a CCID driver on Linux.

Facing the increasing changes of industry environment and the national healthcare policy, Taiwan medical institutes need to improve medical service quality of patient care. As technology grows more pervasive in the healthcare environment, today medical institutes are able to generate a mobile working environment with Tablet PCs rather than personal computers that can hardly be carried easily. Doctors visiting patents can take notes on Tablet PCs which mitigate the fatigue of handwriting medical histories at each patient visit. Doctors can connect to their medical institutes’ mainframe through WLAN and reach data via VPN with secure authorization of HPC (Healthcare Professional Card). The process prevents private information from disclosure. Administrative staff in medical institutes can search for private information such as salary, account number, staff number, and other personal information with tablet PCs in each nursing station. The research uses NHI IC Card (National Health Insurance IC Card) to do authentication and HPC to do patient information security control. The accessibility of information depends on the insertion of NHI IC Card and identification checking of databases in medical institutes. Data is transferred via the connection of WLAN to medical institutes’ systems. The purpose of the research is to put forward a mobile medical information system that delivers more convenient information service to patients and administrative staff. The research has five goals. First, the system can increase the convenience of ward inspection and information accuracy. Secondly, the system can utilize NHI IC Card to do information security control and identification checking that decreases the probability of procedures conducted on wrong patients. Thirdly, the system can empower doctors to move outside of examination rooms to prescribe for patients when they are available. This shortens the waiting time for patients. Fourthly, The system can enable administrative staff in medical institutes to search for personal information, minimize administrative costs, and create a paperless working environment. Firally, technology can evolve into one with a functionality of mobility. Key words: Medical Institutes, Tablet PC, WLAN (Wireless LAN), Virtual Private Network, Healthcare Professional Card, National Health Insurance IC Card, database, mobility
