Abstract:
AbstractObjectives: Pedophilia (P) is a psychiatric disease associated with sexual attraction toward children and often accompanied by child sexual offending (CSO). Consequently, it is important to address the understanding of executive dysfunctions that may increase the probability of CSO. Moreover, this research field has been lacking to disentangle executive deficits associated with pedophilia (as a deviant sexual preference) from those associated with CSO (as a deviant sexual behavior). Methods: The German multi-sided research network NeMUP offers the opportunity to overcome these limitations. By applying the Cambridge Automated Neuropsychological Test Battery in four carefully matched groups of men: (1) pedophiles with (N=45) and (2) without (N=45) a history of sexual offending against children; (3) child molesters without pedophilia (N=19), and (4) non-offending controls (N=49), we were able to analyze executive functioning in pedophilia and CSO independently. Results: Both CSO groups as compared to both non-CSO groups exhibited worsened response inhibition ability. However, only non-pedophilic offenders showed additionally disabled strategy use ability. Regarding set-shifting abilities, the P+CSO group showed the best performance. We also found that performances were affected by age: only in pedophiles, response inhibition worsened with age, while age-related deficits in set-shifting abilities were restricted to non-pedophilic participants. The latter also differentiated between both sexual preference groups. Conclusions: Our results are the first to demonstrate that executive dysfunctions are related to offense status rather than pedophilic preference. Furthermore, there was evidence for differentiating age and performance correlations between pedophiles and non-pedophiles, which warrants further investigation. (JINS, 2017, 23, 460–470)

Abstract:
Objective: In the era of widely accessible internet, individuals with pedophilic traits discover digital modes of engaging in sexual fantasizing about children. This study evaluates activities of pedophilic communities on the internet. Design and Method: Responses of self-identified pedofiles on internet forums were qualitatively evaluated. Relevant forums, specializing in mental health, were identified through having threads on “sexuality”, “paraphilias”, and “pedophilia”. Chat spaces with minimum 200 replies were included in data sets. Responses of registered users were tracked and evaluated to see whether these individuals consistently engaged in discussions relevant to pedophilic context. To confirm selfreported pedophilic traits of participants, descriptions were cross-referenced with DSM-5 criteria for pedophilia. Results: Common points of discussion between self-identified pedophiles included: ineffectiveness of psychotherapeutic treatment, crowdsourcing information about what makes it illegal to possess child pornography, chats about what amount of clothing makes a child less sexually appealing, and fears of relapsing due to access to online child pornography. Conclusions: Streamlined access to internet allows sharing of various materials - including pornography - and correlates with rise in paraphilic perversion online. Pedophiles are building small online communities, where they share fantasies and experiences with each other. This study offers unique glimpse into a typical conversation between self-identified pedophiles and highlights the need to restructure rehabilitation approach for pedophiles. In particular, therapy sessions should implement monitoring of online browsing activities of pedophiles undergoing treatment as part of conduct management.

Abstract:
The title of this research is “Pedophilia in Comic Toriko Aigan Shoujo by Mashin Osakabe”. The aims of this research are to describe the characteristic of pedophilia sexual disorders suffered by Shiren, as well as the impact that occurred on Shinju as a victim of pedophilia in Mashin Osakabe’s Toriko Aigan Shoujo comic. The theories that have been used are Endaswara’s Psychological Psychology (2010), Schmidth’s Pedophilia theory (2014) and Danesi’s Semiotic theory (2011). Based on the results, Takamagahara Shiren is an adult male who experiences one type of sexual disorder, namely pedophilia. Characteristics of pedophile sexual disorders in Shiren's character based on three dimensions, namely 1). Physiological dimensions are: heterosexual pedophiles and adult men who like a little girl; 2). The psychological dimension is: having a cruel and stubborn character, which can be seen from his behavior, uses various ways to be able to have sex with Shinju. In addition, Shiren's character is also ambitious take revenge on his mother by hurting Shinju; 3). The dimensions of sociology is: Shiren who closes himself to sociaty and dislikes social interaction. The impact experienced by Shinju as a pedophile victims occurred in the physical and psychological. The impact on the physical character of Shinju is the presence of injuries to the body. The impact of pedophilia on the psychology of Shinju are sexual addiction or hypersex, feeling self worthless, feeling ashamed and guilty that she often tries to commit suicide.

Abstract:
Although emotional congruence with children (ECWC) is a risk factor for sexual offending against children, its conceptual validity has hardly been researched. This study aims to explore the construct of ECWC by evaluating the factor structure of the Child Identification Scale (CIS-R) and its relation to facets of sexual preference and child sexual abuse behaviors. It was hypothesized that the measure comprises consistent subscales that are differently associated with aspects of sexual preference and sexual offending against children. CIS-R data of a sample of 217 adult male pedophiles from the community were used for an exploratory principal component analysis (PCA). Group comparisons and a multinomial logistic regression analysis were conducted after including a non-pedophilic control group of 22 adult men. PCA revealed a three-factor solution for the CIS-R accounting for 30% of variance. Group comparisons found differences in overall scores and the factor labeled “Attachment to Children” between subgroups of sexual age and gender preference, but not between contact, online, and non-offenders. The regression analysis showed a pedophile sexual preference and the interaction between a hebephile sexual age preference and the factor “Attachment to Children” being associated with past offending behavior. The results indicate a wish to attach to children as core feature of the CIS-R measure assessing ECWC. It is discussed whether this is an inherent feature of pedophilia or rather an independent aspect being differently distinct in pedophiles.

Abstract:
Introduction: in our opinion, special attention should be paid to the content of the terms “pedophilia” and “pedophile”, which are often found in the analysis of the legal literature, the reports of government officials, on the Internet, as well as in the content of the normative legal acts regulating the responsibility for committing sexual crimes against the category of victims of interest to us. To date, none of the legal sources operating within the territory of the Russian Federation does not contain the interpretation of the above terms, which fully reveals the specifics of the form of sexual deviation we are studying. The purpose of the study is to analyze the legislation of the Russian Federation regulating the responsibility for the commission of a crime that encroaches on the sexual freedom and sexual integrity of minors and juveniles, by persons suffering from a disorder of sexual preference in the form of pedophilia, as well as the medical and psychological sources containing information about the sexual deviation we are studying, to form the concept of the terms “pedophilia” and “pedophile” in the legal sphere. Methods: the statistical method, the methods of induction, analysis and synthesis are used. Results: the paper considers various definitions of the terms “pedophilia”, “pedophile”. The paper analyzes the affiliation of the previously mentioned term with any branch of scientific knowledge. Conclusions: as a result of the conducted research, the author formulated the concepts of the terms “criminal pedophilia” and “criminal pedophile”, whose use in the normative legal acts regulating the responsibility for committing crimes that infringe on the sexual freedom and sexual integrity of minors and juveniles, in our opinion, would contribute to the significant development of the system of combating sexual crime in relation to the category of citizens of interest to us.

Abstract:
Abstract. There is an emerging consensus among researchers that having pedophilic interests is not synonymous with child sexual abuse or other amoral behavior. Nevertheless, misconceptions about pedophilia are highly prevalent among the general public and mental health practitioners. This article provides an overview of recent findings on the stigma of pedophilia and derives guidelines for mental health practitioners based on these results. We argue that stigmatization of people with pedophilic sexual interests has undesired indirect effects on risk factors for child sexual abuse, particularly on an emotional and social level. Also, fear of being rejected or treated unethically may prevent pedophilic individuals at risk for sexual offending from confiding in medical practitioners or psychotherapists. Psychologists working with pedophilic individuals in forensic or clinical settings should be aware that stigmatizing people with pedophilia may increase their risk of sexual offending, and provide help to deal with potential stigma-related repercussions.

Abstract:
Pedophilia is an obsession with children as sex objects. Overt acts, including taking sexual explicit photographs, molesting children, and exposing one's genitalia to children are all crimes. The problem with these crimes is that pedophilia is also treated as a mental illness, and the pedophiles are often released only to repeat the crimes or escalate the activity to the level of murder. This caused for the victims, in this case the children, and their families to feel insecure as there are still chances that the culprit is still targeting them. And there is also the physical and mental trauma that the children suffer as a result of the illicit act. Therefore pedophilia should be addressed seriously as the lives of children are at stake. Many regulations have been created in order to decrease this crime, but with technology’s rapid growth and increase of pedophilia communities that can be found all over the internet, it seems like it would be a long way before the crime could be eradicated completely. Because of that the government along with several other authority figures would occasionally search for sanctions that will hopefully decrease the number of pedophiles.

The purpose of this paper answers the following questions: Can a pedophile case affect the moral destruction of a nation? Does the pedophile case affect the deterioration of the nation's achievement? What is the moral evaluation of pedophilia? How does an exemplary figure's education answer the issue of a pedophile case ?. First, the case of pedophile greatly affect the impact of destroying the nation's morale and destroy the achievements of the nation's children in education. Secondly, the teacher should not have an abnormal life (being a pedophile). He is a picture of tekadan for his students. Thus the failure of teaching and learning process will occur when teacher teachers become "scourge" which is frightening for their students. Third, teachers become role models for their students. Abstract:
Abstract. This article aims to explain the concept of pedophilia in terms of the perpetrators, criminality and child protection aspects. During this time children who are victims of pedophiliac suffer prolonged psychological injuries and even lead to death. Meanwhile, the legal settlement is not yet comparable to the injuries suffered by the victims and light punishment tends to make the sexual violence repeated. One of the light sentences for pedophiliacs is that the criminal law in this country has not specifically regulated criminal offenses and on the other hand, the concept of pedophilia is still considered as a mental disorder. Therefore, in handling it is not enough to rely on a legal approach, more than that the handling orientation needs to be directed at child protection. This is done by taking preventive measures such as fostering social sensitivity of the community, optimizing the role of social agents such as local social and institutional organizations and instilling early sex education in children.

Abstract:
This article highlights the problem of emotional perception in pedophilia (ICD-10) / pedophilia disorder (ICD-11). In present paper, emotional perception is considered as abilities of recognizing and identifying a wide range of mental states like emotions, affects, moods, feelings. The assumption about relations of alexithymia and disturbances in the recognition of emotions, perspective taking, empathy with pedophilia and regulatory mechanisms of activity verified empirically. Two groups of persons accused of sexual crimes are compared: 44 people with pedophilia, 32 people without the disorder; also 95 persons who haven't been accused were examined for the control group; as well intra-group comparison of pedophilic persons with egosyntonic and egodystonic attitude toward sexual drive was made. Contradictions of earlier studies are resolved in the result: it is shown that in pedophilia the ability of understanding emotional states remains normal at first sight (in comparison with the deficits found in the accused without pedophilia). However, the group with pedophilia is characterized by extremely high level of alexithymia and based on this the consistently conclusion is made about disturbances of emotional regulation in egosyntonic form of this disorder.

Abstract:
The evaluation of the self-help program "Le groupe d'entraide Amorce" for pedophilic men showed they were progressing regarding certain pedophilic characteristics, particularly with respect to a better integration of their adult sexuality. However, nobody in this program claimed to be "treating" pedophilia directly. In fact, all of them relied upon the sharing and supporting dynamics of a self-help group to face other related problems and to reach the preliminary but necessary steps for deeper changes. The beneficial effect of the program was felt regarding mainly stopping withdrawal, changing attitudes, increasing empathy, motivating for change, improving communication skills, discharging emotions, clarifying immediate problems, repositionning as adults, supporting when depressed or decreasing anxiety. The triangulation of the points of view of facilitators, external parties, and participants did confirm these results both regarding pedophilia and other problems. Beyond these effects, the evaluation showed that the main strengths of the program were: the support and sharing of experiences between participants ; the motivation and availability of those involved ; the openness to external critics, novelty, uniqueness, pro-gressiveness, communal, non-medical, and preventive approach of pedophilia ; and the respect for and "responsibilisation" of the participants. Some aspects of the program also needed to be improved and specific recommendations were provided to the administrators.

Abstract:
The article presents data from an empirical study of the features for age perception in pedophilia (ICD-10) / pedophilic disorder (ICD-11). We consider a phenomenon of individuals with pedophilia what often want to be like children or feel themselves like them. An analytical review of the literature on the subjective perception of age and age identity is provided. The question is discussed on how the chronological assessment of the live time is transformed into a subjective assessment of one's own age, as well as the mechanisms underlying such kind of transformation (in particular, successful or unsuccessful experience of socialization). Three groups of individuals are compared: persons accused of sexual crimes with diagnosis of pedophilia (21 examinees), without such a diagnosis (21 examinees) and 45 examinees of the control group. All of them completed the test on “Age Identity”, “Color Test of Affective Tones” and “Coding”. According to the results the actual and ideal self-image in pedophilia is more infantile and similar to the image of a child. Obtained data indicate the immaturity of sexual sphere in examinees with pedophilia, they perceive sexuality in communicative and playing context.

Abstract:
The Screening Scale for Pedophilic Interests (SSPI) is a structured rating scale of four child victim characteristics: number, age, gender, and relationship of victims. Sexual offenders against children who score higher on the SSPI are more likely to be identified as having pedophilic sexual arousal and are more likely to sexually reoffend. Recent research suggests that child pornography offending is a valid and perhaps independent indicator of pedophilia. In this study, we examined whether child pornography offending would add to the criterion-related validity of the SSPI. In the construction sample of 950 offenders with child victims, the SSPI with a fifth item of child pornography (Screening Scale for Pedophilic Interests–2 [SSPI-2]) was significantly associated with phallometrically assessed sexual arousal to children. In a validation sample of 950 offenders with child victims, the SSPI-2 was again related to phallometrically assessed sexual arousal to children, outperforming the original SSPI. We recommend clinicians and researchers use the SSPI-2 as a structured method of assessing pedophilic sexual interests based on offending behavior.

Abstract:
A strong public reaction to sex offences against minors under 14 results in a stricter criminal law policy towards offenders. One of the key changes to Russian criminal legislation has been breaking all subjects of such crimes into two groups. The first group is comprised of people over 18 who have committed sex offences against minors and suffer from pedophilia without diminished responsibility. The second group includes other persons who have committed sex offences against minors. The paper examines specific features of sex offences committed by persons with pedophilia without diminished responsibility. It is noted that not all persons who commit sex offences against minors under 14 are pedophiles. The author discusses the inaccuracy made by lawmakers in determining the criteria of sexual preference disorder of pedophilia and connected with the ages of the victim and the offender. Pedophilia as a sexual preference disorder is diagnosed in people over 16 who have been suffering for at least six months from systemic (constant) urges, attraction and fantasies involving underage children (13 and under), with at least a five-year difference with the victim. Such persons are ruled sane but subject to compulsory medical treatment if they commit sexual offences against minors. As sexual preference disorders cannot be reduced to pedophilia, the author proves that the phrase «sexual preference disorder (pedophilia)» is used inappropriately in Russian legislation. The author also argues that it should be eliminated from the criminal legislation as an independent reason for using compulsory medical treatment for persons who, being over 18, have committed a sex offence against minors under 14 and suffer from pedophilia without diminished responsibility.

Abstract:
Hebephilia refers to sexual interest in pubescent children who are beginning to show early signs of sexual development but are sexually immature. The present study examined the relationship between hebephilia and victim age choice in a sample of 2,238 adult male sexual offenders. On average, offenders were 39 years old at the time of their assessments, and approximately half (48%) were referred by probation or parole offices. Assessment data included self-report, sexual arousal measured by volumetric phallometry, and victims’ ages. Results suggested that, similar to pedophilia, hebephilia had a medium sized association with a greater number of victims under age 11 and a small sized association with a greater number of victims ages 11 to 14. Unlike pedophilia, a small positive association was consistently found between hebephilia and a greater number of victims ages 15 or 16. Furthermore, a small positive association was observed between victim age polymorphism and hebephilia and pedophilia. The present results suggested that hebephilia was associated with a greater number of victims age 14 or younger and had similar victim age correlates to pedophiles.

Abstract:
The study of pedophilic episodes in later life shows how acting out in a particular emotional context can help the offender to reorganize his life. After reviewing 36 cases referred to the McGill Clinic in Forensic Psychiatry between 1980–1989, a previous history of offender victimization was found in 12 cases. Careful analysis of all the cases showed reactivation of conflict in their family of procreation in 34 cases. Various psychodynamic hypotheses are suggested through the longitudinal history of the perpetrator and the nature of the relationship between victim and perpetrator. Analysis of a longitudinal follow-up in 26 cases suggests that through various mechanisms of organization, disorganization and reorganization, the pedophilic episode represented an opportunity for these middle-aged and senescent pedophiles to resolve some issues underlying their pedophilic interests, leading to a higher level of maturity, thereby preventing relapse of pedophilic episodes.

Abstract:
Adult men’s height results from an interaction among positive and negative influences, including genetic predisposition, conditions in utero, and influences during early development such as nutritional quality, pathogen exposure, and socioeconomic status. Decreased height, reflected specifically as a decreased leg length, is strongly associated with increased risk of poorer health outcomes. Although prior research has repeatedly shown that pedophiles are shorter than nonpedophiles, the largest study to date relied on self-reported height. In the present study, pedophiles demonstrated reduced measured height and reduced leg length as compared with teleiophiles. Given the prenatal and early childhood origins of height, these findings contribute additional evidence to a biological, developmental origin of pedophilia. In addition, the magnitude of this height difference was substantially larger than that found in children exposed to a variety of early environmental stressors, but similar to that seen in other biologically based neurodevelopmental disorders.

Abstract:
High prevalence of child sexual offending stand in contradiction to low conviction rates (one-tenth at most) of child sexual offenders (CSOs). Little is known about possible differences between convicted and non-convicted pedophilic CSOs and why only some become known to the judicial system. This investigation takes a closer look at the two sides of “child sexual offending” by focusing on clinical and neurobiological characteristics of convicted and non-convicted pedophilic CSOs as presented in the Neural Mechanisms Underlying Pedophilia and sexual offending against children (NeMUP)*-study. Seventy-nine male pedophilic CSOs were examined, 48 of them convicted. All participants received a thorough clinical examination including the structured clinical interview (SCID), intelligence, empathy, impulsivity, and criminal history. Sixty-one participants (38 convicted) underwent an inhibition performance task (Go/No-go paradigm) combined with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Convicted and non-convicted pedophilic CSOs revealed similar clinical characteristics, inhibition performances, and neuronal activation. However, convicted subjects’ age preference was lower (i.e., higher interest in prepubescent children) and they had committed a significantly higher number of sexual offenses against children compared to non-convicted subjects. In conclusion, sexual age preference may represent one of the major driving forces for elevated rates of sexual offenses against children in this sample, and careful clinical assessment thereof should be incorporated in every preventive approach.

Abstract:
The presence of pedophilic sexual interests is considered of high importance for predicting recidivism among individuals who have committed sexual offenses. However, objective and valid assessment methods that are robust against confounding issues such as cognitive capacity and manipulation are sparse. We applied the Approach–Avoidance Task (AAT) for detecting sexual interests in 38 pedophilic men (18 primarily attracted to boys) and 27 male nonpedophilic (11 gay) participants. The AAT relies on automatic approach and avoidance tendencies, independent of cognitive abilities such as memory capacity and intelligence. Approach–avoidance tendencies toward stimuli depicting seminude prepubescent boys and girls as well as men and women are reported. The results were consistent with previous research on the utility of the AAT: Except for pedophiles attracted to girls, the mean AAT scores (approach minus avoidance reaction time for each stimulus category) were positive only for stimuli of the preferred category. A multivariate binary logistic regression approach revealed 80% overall accuracy in differentiating pedophilic from nonpedophilic participants.

Abstract:
The disclosure of cases of pedophiles online on social media in Indonesia certainly dangers that lurk children from perpetrators of sexual crimes. End Child Prostitution in Asian Tourism (ECPAT) Indonesia and the Criminal Crime Reform Institute (ICJR) regard this case of online child pornography as the largest ever disclosed by police without casualties. Online pedophile actors operating on social media Facebook use Official Candy Group accounts. Online pedophile prostitution has involved international networks. Departing from this background, the purpose of writing this scientific paper is to find out about the protection of children in Indonesia in terms of online pedophiles that refer to international child protection instruments that have been ratified. The research method used in this study is a normative legal research method. Seeing the situation in the territory of Indonesia become a place of practice that deviates until the involvement of international syndicates and modes is more sophisticated. Conditions further strengthen the assumption that Indonesia is indeed in an emergency of sexual violence. Harmonizing national laws to protect children online with international standards is key to providing the right tools for law enforcement in dealing with child sex crimes. In the child protection survey in the digital era in ASEAN member countries, it appears that Indonesia still needs improvement in terms of legal instruments related to child protection in the context of regulations and policies in making child protection mechanisms in the virtual realm in accordance with global commitments in which Indonesia is member of several international organizations.

Abstract:
Sexual abuse prevention efforts should ideally include counseling for people who have attractions to children before they offend. Due to a variety of factors, many therapists do not wish to work with this population. The aim of this pilot project was to create, implement, and evaluate a short training workshop to help prepare clinical therapists ( n = 94) to respond ethically and effectively to individuals seeking counseling for pedophilic interests. Data were collected at four different clinical-therapy professional conferences over the course of 14 months. The pretest/posttest design asked questions about six specific areas of knowledge related to pedophilia, mandatory reporting, treatment needs, and goals for this difficult-to-reach population. In addition, six questions were asked about attitudes toward working with minor-attracted persons and capacity to build a therapeutic relationship. Some significant changes were detected in knowledge and attitudes about clients with pedophilia after receiving training about the topic, indicating increased willingness to work with this population and improved feelings of competence in providing services. Implications for prevention are discussed.

In criminal law there are a criminal act, criminal liability, and criminalization. Criminal liability consept in criminal law is a central concept be known mens rea. Mens rea concept based an act doesn’t not result in a person guilty unless the mind is bad. In Indonesian Criminal Code there regulates the negative form of criminal liability, contained in article 44. In article 44 Indonesian criminal code mentions that the mental disorder can be held accountable for criminal liability. Pedophilia is a sexual disorder that possessed by adults who get sexual gratification through physical contact with children. In criminal law pedophilia known as the crime of sexual abuse of minors. There is a vagueness of norms that occurs between article 44 Indonesian criminal code with a court decision regarding pedophilia. Court decision handed down on the accused in this case usually is imprisonment, whereas in the German state people who suffer from pedophilia in rehabilitation by the government. German Criminal Code has arranged the said provisions, this is because the government is aware of the psychological condition of a pedophile. A pedophile will not recover if the punishment given only in the form of imprisonment, without a destination for healing and repair perpetrators later, because criminal punishment should pay attention to the properties or the circumstances of the offender, so that it becomes appropriate punishment and provide benefits to the perpetrator. The research methods used in this paper is a normative legal research methods. Abstract:
AbstractThere is increasing evidence of neurocognitive dysfunction among child molesters, supporting the notion of brain anomalies among pedophiles. However, approximately half of child molesters are not pedophilic (i.e., are not primarily attracted to children), and neurocognitive differences between pedophilic (PED) and nonpedophilic (NPED) child molesters are not well understood. The purpose of this study was to assess neurocognition, specifically executive functioning (EF), among phallometrically defined PED and NPED child molesters, relative to nonsexual offenders (NSO). Participants (N = 89) were compared on seven EF domains. Results revealed that (a) child molesters exhibited an overall executive profile that was different from that of NSOs, with PEDs differing from NSOs but not from NPEDs; (b) child molesters on the whole performed better than NSOs on abstract reasoning and more poorly on inhibition; and (c) PEDs performed better than NPEDs on planning and exhibited better overall performance accuracy relative to NPEDs. These results suggest that PEDs exhibit a more deliberate, planful response style characterized by greater self-monitoring; whereas NPEDs appear to respond more impulsively. The current report further elucidates neurocognition among child molesters and highlights the need for future research examining subtypes of child molesters. (JINS, 2011, 17, 295–307)

Abstract:
Children are humans who have physical and mental abilities that are considered weaker to overcome various risks and dangers they face and automatically still depend on other parties, especially family members, but until now mistreatment in sexual matters it still haunts children, especialy pedophiles. One of the cases that occurred was the case of same-sex child molestation carried out by men with the initials BM, against several underage boys, who because of his actions the Judge of the Banyumas District Court stipulated a criminal sentence of 17 (seventeen) years. But in this case, the verdict that was dropped was still far from the word maximum and did not have an impact on the perpetrator. So then, how is the implementation of criminal sanctions against same-sex pedophiles in the verdict 90 / Pid.Sus / 2016 / Pn. Bms according to regulations? The method used in this study is normative legal research. Based on research on several experts and research on related regulations, regarding the decision, it is actually quite good, but it is considered to be less than optimal considering that the pedophile has psychiatric disorders, so psychological rehabilitation is needed and punishment should be made worse so that there is no more other victims for similar cases. It is better, in the future, the judge in determining the decision can consider from all aspects, especially in terms of victims, and psychological aspects of the perpetrators, so that in the future cases of child molestation can be reduced in number.

Abstract:
IntroductionPedophilia is a disorder where sexual preferences of adults are directed towards children. This disorder impacts society with 1–2 out of every 10 children being sexually approached by an adult, often resulting in prolonged negative psychological effects. Prior research reported structural and functional amygdala alterations in pedophilia. As the neurophenomenological model of sexual arousal suggests the importance of the amygdala in the emotional component, we focused on amygdala functional connectivity in pedophilia.AimsTo investigate amygdala functional connectivity (FC) modulated by expectancy and salient stimuli in pedophilic patients.MethodsThirteen pedophilic patients and 13 matched healthy controls underwent a salience expectancy task in a 7T ultra high fMRI study. Subjects perceived pictures of naked adults and children. Half of the pictures were preceded by an expectancy cue. Participants were instructed to actively expect the picture depending on the cue. We conducted psychophysiological analysis (PPI) to examine amygdala FC changes in two amygdala sub-regions for child/adult stimuli during the expectancy period and the visual stimuli consummation period using as seed regions the basolateral (BLA) and central nucleus of the amygdala (CeA).ResultsHealthy controls, relative to patients showed significant stronger left CeA to right post-central gyrus FC during expectancy of adult > child picture. For picture condition (adult > child picture) we found significant stronger left CeA to left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex FC in patients compared to healthy controls.ConclusionThese findings add to the recent literature by indicating that amygdala dysfunctional connectivity is involved in development of deviant sexual behavior.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract:
Indonesia is one of signatory member of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Children, which requires the State to guarantee that no children may suffer torture or other cruelty, whether it is humane action or degrading treatment or punishment. Protection of children in criminal cases is categorized as special protection that requires special treatment in handling the cases.Decency crimes generally lead to condemnation from the community; it especially comes from parents that happen to girls and boys, regarding the crime of rape, obscene acts, pedophiles and others. The arrangements that can be imposed on perpetrators prior to the existence of special laws governing pedophiles namely articles 289, 290, 292, which are regulated in the Criminal Code and articles 81, 82 and article 76D which are regulated in Law No. 16 of 2017 on the amendment of Law No. 23 of 2002 concerning children protection. In law No. 17 of 2016 amendment to Law No. 23 of 2002 concerning child protection, it is stated in law No. 16 of 2017 enhances the sanctions for the child sexual violence perpetrators, namely by chemical castration or injection of chemical liquids and installing chips as electronic detection devices. Such actions will be punished within a maximum period of two years and it is implemented after the convict is serving a basic sentence. Perpetrators may also be subject to additional penalties in the form of announcements of the perpetrator's identity because the actions and additional penalties are excluded for the child perpetrators . Abstract:
Child molesters frequently position themselves in organizations so as to easily access children. Interviews for applicants of such positions, psychological tests, home visits to applicants' residences, criminal record checks for prior convictions, and letters of reference have all been used in an attempt to identify applicants with proclivities toward pedophilia, but none of these methodologies have been validated. The standard methods for reporting the effectiveness of screening tests are reviewed with special emphasis on the sensitivity, specificity, and efficiency of such testing, within the context of the prevalence of various diseases being screened for. Volumetric and circumferential phallometry have relatively high efficiencies, but their intrusiveness, cost, and the length of the assessment process preclude their use as a screening methodology for pedophiles within organizations. The efficiency of a new, less intrusive, screening methodology, the Abel Screen, compares favorably with phallometry in identifying those at risk for involvement with prepubescent and pubescent boys. The risk of applicants accessing boys in institutional settings could be significantly reduced by using the Abel Screen in such settings.

Abstract:
Abstract. Pedophilia – a disorder of sexual preference with primary sexual interest in prepubescent children – is forensically relevant yet difficult to detect using self-report methods. The present study evaluated the criterion validity of the Choice Reaction Time (CRT) task to differentiate between a sample of child sex offenders with a presumably high rate of pedophilic individuals and three control groups (other sex offenders, non-sex offenders, and community controls, all male; N = 233). The CRT task required locating a dot superimposed on images depicting men, women, girls, or boys and scrambled pictures as quickly as possible. We used two picture sets, the Not Real People (NRP) set and the Virtual People Set (VPS). We predicted sexually relevant pictures to elicit longer reaction times in interaction with the participant group. Both CRTs showed main effects of stimulus explicitness and preferred stimulus gender. The CRT-NRP also yielded an interaction effect of participant group and stimulus maturity while the CRT-VPS showed a tendency in this direction. The overall effect size was moderate. Results offer support for the usefulness of the CRT task in forensic assessment of child sex offenders.

Abstract:
The fierce stigma associated with pedophilia may interfere with attempts to prevent sexual offending. Prior research on the effects of media reports about pedophilia mostly focused on their role in perpetuating stigma in the general population. In order to better understand potential benefits and risks of the media coverage on people with pedophilia and specialized prevention and treatment efforts, we conducted semi-structured qualitative interviews with 11 healthcare practitioners of the German Prevention Network “Don’t offend”. Healthcare practitioners described positive (e.g., raising awareness for prevention offers) as well as negative (e.g., perpetuating the existing public stigma) effects of the media coverage and estimated that only about one-third of media coverage portrays pedophilia realistically. To destigmatize pedophilia and benefit the prevention of child sexual abuse, a fact box for journalists was developed based on practitioners’ expert knowledge.

Based on an ethnographic fieldwork carried out within the Brazilian Senate's inquiry committee on Pedophilia and in the Federal Police Department, the aim of this paper is to analyze the strategies and the effects of the conceptualization and the combat of the phenomenon of sexual violence against children as "pedophilia" and with focus on child pornography on the internet. The text consists of a historical approach to the emergence of the problem, an analysis of the political strategies of the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee on Pedophilia and an ethnographic description of the police investigations into child pornography on the internet. The hypothesis is that this "anti-pedophilia crusade" pivoting on the threats of a sexual perversion, is not as effective in the protection of the real child victims of violence as it is in the defense of an ideally innocent childhood.

Pedophilia is defined as a recurrent sexual attraction towards pre-pubescent children. It is a serious and ubiquitous problem with clinical, social, moral and legal implications. The aim of this poster is to describe the factors that are most often associated with this paraphilia and to analyse some of the proposed etiological theories. In the past, etiological theories gave more importance to environmental factors, but recent studies have emphasized more and more the importance of neurobiological factors.Even though several factors have been identified, there are very few certainties when it comes to their role in the etiology of this disease and most of the proposed theories have a speculative nature.

Abstract:
This article presents the results of a study that assesses the dynamics of the parameters of sexual awareness in mentally sick patients (sexual criminals with pedophilia and comobrid mental disorders in the process of compulsory treatment). 52 patients were examined before and after the course of treatment (psychopharmacological effect combined with antiandrogens and cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy); among which there are 32 subjects with heterosexual pedophilia, 11 subjects - with homosexual pedophilia, 9 subjects - with bisexual pedophilia; 22 subjects (43,3 %) diagnosed with schizophrenia, 18 subjects (34,6%) - with organic personality disorder, 12 subjects (23%) - with mild mental retardation. Methods used: “MiF” - a modified gender identity test; “TsTO” - “Color Test”; "Coding"; Vagner Test (a computer version of the HAND test) and the Drawing Test “Man. Woman. Child». The identified changes make it possible to detect actual targets for psychotherapeutic intervention and can be taken into account when determining the risk of recidivism and of patients’ danger degree.

Abstract:
Sexual interest in children is one of the most strongly predictive of the known risk factors for sexual reconviction. It is an important aspect of risk assessment to identify the presence of such interest, and an important task for treatment providers to address such a sexual interest where it is present. It has been argued that understanding pedophiles’ deviant sexual interest in children can enhance risk assessment, management, and treatment planning. This research study aims to explore the phenomenology of deviant sexual interest in children, the impact it has on pedophilic offenders’ identities, and their views on the treatability of that interest. The study used semistructured interviews and repertory grids to make sense of participants’ experiences. The results revealed three superordinate themes: “‘living’ with a deviant sexual interest,” “relational sexual self,” and “possible and feared sexual self.” The analysis unpacks these themes and repertory grid analysis is used to explore a subset of participants’ identities in more detail. The results reveal that there needs to be an acceptance from both client and therapist that their sexual interest in children may never go away. Through this acceptance, clients could work on enhancing sexual self-regulation, recognizing their triggers, and so managing their sexual thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Implications for treatment are also discussed.
