AbstractThe aim of the current research is to analyse potential changes in the phenology of Cabernet Sauvignon under future climate change scenarios. The study compares results from two areas with different climatic conditions in Spain: Ribera del Duero and Penedès. Phenology data for budbreak (BB), bloom (BL), veraison (V) and maturity (M) were analysed for the period 2004–2015 in Ribera del Duero and for 1996–2012 in Penedès. Thermal requirements to initiate the growing cycle and to reach each phenological event were evaluated. Simulated data of changes in climate from eight models provided by Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (AEMET) of Spain, and for two Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP) (greenhouse gas concentration trajectories) – RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 by 2030, 2050 and 2070 were used. Differences of approximately 6 days for BL and about 12 days, on average, for V existed between the two areas. Based on the predicted changes of temperature and the accumulated degree days needed to reach each stage, future changes in phenology were modelled. The results indicate potentially greater changes in the warmer region (Penedès), particularly for the later growth stages, which is in agreement with greater temperature increases in Penedès. The advance of BB, BL, V and M by 2070 could be up to 5, 11, 17 and 24 days, respectively, under the RCP4.5 emission trajectory, and up to 50% higher in some stages under the RCP8.5 emission trajectory.

Abstract:

Abstract Els Casots is an extremely rich early Miocene site located in the Vallès-Penedès Basin (Catalonia, Spain) that has provided both micro- and macrovertebrates. However, the small mammals have been poorly studied. In this work we describe the cricetid fauna from els Casots and provide further insights into the chronology of the site. The cricetids are very common and include the species Megacricetodon primitivus and Democricetodon hispanicus. A second, larger-sized Democricetodon species is also represented by just one molar. The presence of M. primitivus together with the eomyid Ligerimys ellipticus indicates a correlation to zone MN 4 and to the local zone C of the Calatayud-Montalbán Basin (Aragón, east-central Spain), the type area of the Aragonian mammal age. This is further supported by the presence of two different Democricetodon species. A correlation to the local subzones of that area is attempted, but unfortunately the cricetid succession is not the same in both basins. However, the fact that L. ellipticus is the only eomyid species present at els Casots would indicate that this site is somewhat younger than other MN 4 localities from the Vallès-Penedès, where this species coexists with its ancestor Ligerimys florancei.

Abstract:

Se describe Protovirgularia, una pista de bivalvo, del Langhiense (Mioceno medio) de la Cuenca del Vallès-Penedès en el noroeste de España. Se distinguen tres morfotipos. Los morfotipos 1 y 2 son epirrelieves negativos con un característico patrón en espiga y pueden asignarse a la icnoespecie P. dichotoma. La estructura en espiga es el resultado de la actividad del pie bífido de un protobranquio. El morfotipo 3 (P. cf. dichotoma) se conserva como relieves completos con retrorrelleno, a techo de capas de areniscas. En ocasiones, se observa su posición sobre pistas de los otros dos tipos. Estos relieves completos pueden corresponder a la traza dejada por el paso del cuerpo del animal. El productor de Protovirgularia fue muy probablemente un nuculáceo, ya que este grupo de bivalvos sedimentívoros son muy móviles a diferencia de otros protobranquios. En el Vallès-Penedès, se han identificado varias especies de nucúlidos y nuculánidos que podrían haber producido este tipo de pistas. Sin embargo, en general, son de talla menor a la que correspondería para el productor de las trazas descritas y, además, aparecen en otro tipo de facies.

Les cooperatives havien estat la principal forma d’organització del moviment rabassaire abans que es creés la Unió de Rabassaires el 1922. La majoria es van consolidar pel seu caràcter multifuncional —cooperativa de consum i agrària, mutualitat, sociabilitat i reivindicació—, però també per una gestió econòmica que en garantia la continuïtat i que va ser truncada de soca-rel pel resultat de la Guerra Civil.

Abstract:

The paleontological site of Cal Guardiola (UTM 31T DG1702), on the western bank of the Torrent de Vallparadís (Terrassa, Catalonia, Spain), was discovered in early 1997 during the construction of a socio-sanitary building next to the Mútua de Terrassa. A report on the geology and stratigraphy of Cal Guardiola was published by Berástegui et al. (2000), including a preliminary report on the fauna. This preliminary study suggested an estimated age for Cal Guardiola of ca. 1.0 Ma (Berástegui et al., 2000). Unpublished paleomagnetic analyses, carried out by Miguel Garcés, indicate a reverse magnetization for the sampled sediments, which can be correlated to below the Brunhes-Matuyama geomagnetic boundary (pers. com. of M. Garcés in Postigo Mijarra et al., 2007), thus being older than 0.8 Ma. This dating roughly corresponds to the later part of the Epivillafranchian biochron (1.2 to 0.9 Ma), which in Europe is best represented by the faunal assemblages from Untermassfeld in Germany, Le Vallonnet in France, and Colle Curti and Slivia in Italy (Palombo et al., 2008 and references therein). The faunal assemblage from Cal Guardiola represents one of the latest Epivillafranchian faunas from Europe and thus deserves particular attention for unraveling the chronology of the dispersal events that took place during the Epivillafranchian-Galerian turnover. However, thus far only the primate remains from Cal Guardiola have been published (Alba et al., 2008), while the rest of the fauna remains unpublished. Here we describe the carnivore remains from Cal Guardiola, which record one of the latest occurrences of the hyenidPachycrocutain Europe and further attests the coexistence of two distinct ursid lineages by the latest Early Pleistocene in Europe.

Abstract:

En aquest article es fa una aproximació al paper de les dones en les economies domèstiques de l’Alt Penedès del segle XVIII. Concretament, s’analitzen les tasques productives que portaven a terme i que eren fonamentals per al manteniment de les famílies, les seves relacions amb la propietat i l’explotació de la terra, la importància que tenien el dot i l’escreix al llarg de la seva vida, i l’evolució del dot durant la segona meitat del segle XVIII. En cada una d’aquestes qüestions es fa menció de les dones solteres, casades i vídues, atèsque l’estat civil era la variable que més fortament condicionava el que les dones podien i no podien fer. També es para atenció, de manera transversal, al marc legal que constrenyia l’autonomia econòmica de les dones. Malgrat el silenci de les fonts, conseqüència directa de la baixa consideració que tenia el treball femení, del seu caràcter suposadament subsidiari i de la incapacitat legal a què les dones estaven sotmeses, l’examen de capítols matrimonials, inventaris post mortem, contractes de conreu i textos de testimonis de l’època, permet entreveure unes dones més actives i més autònomes que el que tradicionalments’acostuma a pensar. El marc cultural i legal, així com la pobresa, eren obstacles importants que calia superar.

Abstract:

Este trabajo parte de un estado de la cuestión de lo que hoy sabemos sobre dos conventos de clarisas catalanas entre los siglos XIV al XVI y analiza un manuscrito que recoge la Regla de Urbano IV traducida al catalán con toda probabilidad para las clarisas del primer monasterio, Santa Clara de Vilafranca del Penedès, que en el siglo XVI acabará uniéndose al segundo de ellos, Santa María de Jerusalén. El estudio del manuscrito y sus poseedoras se encuadra en el marco más general de una investigación que busca contextualizar los objetos en relación; sea con su «materialidad» a través de las huellas, textuales o no, que han ido dejando en él los procesos de producción, manipulación y uso; sea con su «espacialidad» a través de la red de significaciones que crean sus contextos de uso, custodia y relación performativa.

Abstract:

RESUMENEn este artículo se analizan las pautas de consume de una sociedad agraria del siglo xvii. Se examinan en primer lugar las características de la fuente en que se basa la investigatión, los inventarios post mortem, que en Cataluña no contienen las valoraciones monetarias de los bienes muebles e inmuebles. Puesto que la mayoría de las investigaciones sobre consumo en época prein-dustrial en Europa Occidental y en América del Norte se han basado en una metodología adecuada para inventarios con valoraciones monetarias, ha sido necesario disenar un método de trabajo particular. Los resultados que se presentan en el artículo apuntan a que las formas concretas del consume en sociedades preindustriales como el Penedès de fines del siglo XVII dependian sobre todo de la pertenencia a un grupo social definido y de las reglas de reconocimiento mutuo.
