In order to study the penetration effects of rhombic fragment penetrating into the ballistic gelatin, a numerical model was established by using Ansys/Ls-Dyna. The penetrating process and the transient response of gelatin were simulated using the proposed model which was validated by experiment. The effects of fragment mesh size, model simplification method and incident angle on simulation accuracy were analyzed by numerical simulation.
