Abstract:
Art books in the UK during the Second World War were highly visible and in great demand. Despite paper rationing, stocks destroyed by enemy bombing, and military demands on authors and artists, new types of art book were launched to great acclaim. The archives of Penguin and Phaidon reveal both the constraints under which publishers were forced to operate, and the ideas behind initiatives such as the Penguin Modern Painters series, or Phaidon’s early monographs. Both publishing houses sought to extend the market for art books by producing large quantities at low prices, and maintaining a reputation for high quality texts, design and reproductions.

Abstract:
This article accounts for the social interactions that gave rise to Penguin's translation of Spanish and Latin American Poetry during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Drawing on the Actor-Network Theory of Bruno Latour, it traces the editorial discussions that led to the adoption and abandonment of different translation policies: the dual-language subseries of the Penguin Poets, which employed prose translation; and the verse translation of the Penguin Modern European and Latin American Poets. Often regarded as an institution, Penguin is revealed as a focal point for conflicting initiatives that came from within and without the organization.

Abstract:
Purpose and aim By studying swedish public companies and their annual reports through the years of 2005-2015, the purpose of this study is to determine whether there are any similarities in the capital structure of companies with homogenous market-to-book ratio and tangible assets. A comparison on industry level will also take place. Previous research and theories The main research in this research is the previous study by Wu and Yeung about public american companies. They argue that a combination of market- to-book ratio and tangible assets can build a certain capital structure. Other previous researches are Aggarwal, who says that capital structure differ between countries and industries, and also Harris and Raviv who argue that leverage ratio is constant within the specific industry. The theories that have been used in this study are the pecking order theory, asymmetric information, market timing theory, buy-and-hold theory and financial architecture. Methodology A quantitative method have been used, where collection of data happens through studies of companies annual reports in a similar way of Wu and Yeung. The population is all of the companies that have been publicly introduced on either Aktietorget or Nasdaq OMX Stockholm during the years of 2005-2015. The selection from the population are 77 companies. Conclusion Swedish pharmaceutical companies who possess a high market-to-book ratio in combination with a low rate of tangible assets: are persistent within its company type (G3), finance through issues of equity, follows the market timing theory, have a leverage ratio under 10 %, have no dividends, shows a negative profitability indicator during the years 0-2, have high cash holdings and a high rate of intangible assets, have stockholders who don’t bother about dividends, have low asymmetric information between management and stockholders, and they also have stockholders who see growth opportunities with investing in pharmaceutical companies. Keywords Capital structure, market-to-book ratio, tangible assets, pecking order, asymmetric information, swedish companies

The vast majority of the public's impressions and definitions of alphabet books have been fixed and unchanged for a long time, including “it is a tool for education,” or “it is a reading for children that only has one single word with a single illustration.” People have no ideas or expectations about it. This creation hopes to break the stereotypes of alphabet books by examining the history of alphabet books and sorting out its characteristics and classifications. The author tried to find out the most appropriate perspective of it to create a unique and amazing innovation transformation. Not only for the change of the form of alphabet books, but this creation also cares about readers’ reading experience --- the importance of entertaining.       In order to achieve the above-mentioned purposes, the author studied and adopted the “metapicture theory” as the basis and method of this creation. As a method of breaking the framework and creating an impact, the concept of “meta” is often used in today's art and entertainment works. Its own characteristics of “getting out and looking from the top down” are very suitable for breaking people's accustomedness. The matter, similar to the concept of the conversion perspective, allows viewers to view from the angles that have never been discovered before, and to have the opportunity to achieve creative purposes, such as entertaining and self-examination. This effect and result are what the author hopes for and pursues.      This thesis started from the creation of “meta-alphabet book.” It then reveals the researches and analysis of this creation’s form “alphabet books,” and the content “metapicture theory.” Moreover, it illustrates the author’s inspirations and reflections in the process of creation. The author hopes these can help and resonate with other students who are also creating artwork.

Abstract:
The aim of this essay is to identify patterns of textual variation that affect both the source text(s) and its translations. Starting with the substitution of the word ‘spare’ with ‘square’ in the ‘red-room’ episode, textual variations are analysed in a selection of English editions of Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre published by prestigious publishing houses such as Collins, Harper, Oxford, Norton Critical, and Penguin―from the second half of the nineteenth-century to the most recent editions, including e-books (Amazon) and *.txt files (Project Gutenberg). Variations in English editions are compared against the original Brontë’s manuscript (1847) and tracked down in eleven Italian translations.
