Full textThe interest of the thesis is to demonstrate that there is a paradox in the family hypogroup because the durability of the organization so much hoped by the leader is in opposition to the family transmission. Indeed, the integration of successors generates intergenerational conflicts that limit the safeguarding of the heritage because the transferor wishes to preserve his traditional activities while the new generation wants to change the product offering in order to improve the competitive positioning of the company. To resolve this tension, the intervention of the researcher in the field led to semi-structured interviews with five family hypogroups in order to identify the contradictions between the two protagonists and to propose a development strategy that will overcome these divisions. This work proves that the leader of the family hyprogroup is not risk averse because it will have to question its growth prospects so that its organization strengthens its competitiveness on the market. To achieve this, goal planning is essential so that the transferor and his heirs agree on a common direction in order to mitigate the divergence of their visions. However, the mental resistance of the head of household to these changes remains one of the main limits that leads him to deviant behaviors that degrade the chances of survival of capital

Full textThe historical logic suggests that cooperative banks will be leaders when it comes to social and responsible practices while remaining economically viable. However, with the many changes that European banks have experienced over the last few decades, it is not certain that cooperative banks continue to perform well at both the social and economic levels. In this context, we carry out comparative studies between cooperative banks and non-cooperative banks on the economic and social aspects through the analysis of their performance, resilience and social responsibility (CSR). Given the various existing cooperative models - those that remain decentralized and locally anchored, and those that align with universal banking practices - the systemic nature of banks is considered to take into account their hybridization. Moreover, from the peculiarity of the economic and financial climate in which financial institutions operate in recent years, it was natural to distinguish the effects of the 2008 financial crisis from those of the sovereign debt crisis in Europe
Mohiuddin, Muhammad. "Towards sustainable offshore outsourcing : an empirical study on canadian manufacturing small and medium size firms." Doctoral thesis, Université Laval, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.11794/25266.
Full textManufacturing small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) are increasingly jumping onto the offshore outsourcing bandwagon, which has long been driven by transnational corporations. Technological innovations and opening-up of frontiers lead to slicing up the value chain and to developing a virtuous circle of best performers across the planet. Offshore outsourcing is carrying into this virtual manufacturing framework and allows the manufacturing SMEs access to resources and competences from supplier firms. Despite accelerated use of this multifaceted business strategy, there are ongoing debates on whether offshore outsourcing is only a short-term cost reduction business strategy or can be a long-term growth-oriented strategy. The main objective of this research is to study the role of offshore outsourcing in creating long-term viability of offshoring manufacturing SMEs. The principal research question is thus to explore whether and how offshore outsourcing leads manufacturing SMEs toward sustainable competitive advantage (SCA)? This research problematic is analyzed through studying three sub-questions: i) How does offshore outsourcing contribute to improve competitiveness of manufacturing SMEs? ii) What are the relationships between offshore outsourcing of core and non-core activities and integrated firm level performance (competitive, financial, strategic, and stakeholders’ performance)? and iii) How does offshore outsourcing contribute to developing organizational dynamic capabilities for SCAs? These questions were addressed in this thesis by four articles using principally a qualitative case study method (except the second question, which used linear regression). First, we analyzed secondary data and did an extensive literature review to present the state of the art of Canadian manufacturing SMEs and their competitiveness (Article 1). Second, we studied with a case study approach the effects of offshore outsourcing on competitiveness of offshoring firms and what kind of benefits this business strategy brings them (Article 2). Third, we studied with the help of linear regression the relationships between offshore outsourcing and integrated firm level performances (Article 3). Fourth, we studied with a case study approach how offshore outsourcing contributes to developing dynamic capabilities that can reconfigure and re-integrate inter-firm resources for developing capabilities that lead offshoring firms toward achieving SCAs (Article 4). This study shows that offshore outsourcing enables the offshoring manufacturing SMEs to concentrate on their core activities, which leads to superior specialization and capability. Through integrating or sharing inter-firm resources, offshore outsourcing allows firms to accelerate their product and process innovations and organizational flexibility and improve market share in local and foreign markets. These superior capabilities enable offshoring SMEs to renew and reconfigure inter-firm resources and competencies for SCAs. Thus, the study implies that offshore outsourcing strategy transformed from being short-term arm’s-length strategy toward growth-oriented strategy. It also extends the dynamic capabilities view (DCV) by demonstrating the renewing and re-configurability of organizational resources in the offshore outsourcing context. Key words: Offshore outsourcing, Small and Medium size firms, Core and non-core activities, dynamic capabilities, sustainable competitive advantage.
Kharrat, Sana. "L’innovation organisationnelle et technologique comme enjeux de la performance et de la pérennité des entreprises dans le secteur des télécoms : Le cas des opérateurs de télécommunications mobiles en Tunisie." Thesis, Université Paris-Saclay (ComUE), 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016SACLV119.
Full textThe objective of this thesis is to identify the existence of potential links between innovation and business performance on the one hand, and innovation and sustainability of the company on the other. The use of organizational innovations and / or technology is now considered critical to the performance and the sustainability of the business. This research work studies the importance of innovation as a key element to success and business survival, while involving the three variables throughout our empirical research. The latter is performed through three case studies in the mobile telecommunications sector. Performing a qualitative analysis of the collected data and based on the theories, we found that innovation seems to have higher contribution to the sustainability than to the performance of the studied firms. This lag is mainly due to contextual elements as well as to the approach towards the potential contribution of innovation

Full textThe impact of public subsidies is subject for a debate: some thinks that public interventions could stimulate effect on the economy, while for others, the public interventions would be useless and respond more of political interests than economic efficiency. From a regional development and public policy perspective, this paper focus on the impact of public subsidies on the performance of firms in a non-metropolitan area. Performance is measured from two differents but complementary angles: the survival of firms and the average annual growth of employees. This study uses a rich database composed of 15 187 active establishments in the Lower-Saint-Lawrence region in between 2006 and 2015. A spatial matching methodology is applied in this study, based on propensity score matching, calculated on the basis of local indicators (spatial), as in Dubé and Brunelle (2014). The results show a positive effect of the public subsidies on the performance of firms. However, this effect can change depending on the criteria that used to measure performance (survival or employment growth) or the productive sector. Globally, is found that public subsidies have a positive effect on the employment growth of the firms, but this effect is not significant for the survival of firms. Depending on the productive sectors, the effect of public subsidies on employment growth would be principally attributable to the manufacturing sector, and the effect of public subsidies on firm survival would be marked in the primary and upper tertiary sectors.

Full textWhilst experts have predicted the downfall of wholesaler, the latter has survived and e to environmental pressures. This thesis, consisting of three in-depth case studies, investigates into the resources mobilization underpinning wholesalers' survival. The meticulous empirical setting sheds light on the transformations impacting the wholesaling field and on local actors' specific responses. This thesis contributes to illuminate the meaning and role of resources vis-à-vis interactions with institutions. Moreover, it promotes the concept of Institutional Biography as a lens to better understand action origins. The model derived from my analyses describes and explains fruit and vegetables wholesalers’ efforts to become a guarantor for quality, despite prejudices about their inertia and predictions of their disappearance

Full textAt the workplace, individuals face many challenges. Usually these difficulties are caused by poor working conditions that generate the phenomena of psychosocial risks factors (PRF), which can harm the health of employees. In management sciences, an increasing interest has set to PRF, particularly because they also have an impact on the performance and on the longevity of the company. The human resource management (HRM) policies and practices are made by companies to deal with these risks, but an effective approach is not yet achieved. According to the job demands / resources model (Demerouti et al., 2001), there are better working conditions (resources) that have the potential to buffer demands which causes PRF. Resources are the subject of this thesis.Precisely, this thesis questions the employees’ representations resources that have the greatest potential to buffer harmful working conditions. At the same time, we make the assumption that these resources are also able to influence the longevity of the firm, through employee loyalty. We conducted a case study within an agri-food group, which controls two industrial establishments which inherited their organizational culture before joining this group. Our results show that employees identify four resources (autonomy at work, task variety, good social climate and superiors support) that have more potential than others to buffer dangerous working conditions. Moreover, these resources are equally quoted in relation to gender, occupation, and industrial site. Furthermore, it appears that the same resources are also able to influence employees intention to remain in the group. However, it is not always the HRM practices that create these resources, but rather the values that are linked to the firm culture, before the merger.Beyond the contribution to the job demands / resources model, our research also aims to contribute to the managers' awareness of the value of certain resources to implement better working conditions and management strategies of longevity

Full textTo maintain durably an activity during twenty-three years doesn't act as itself but it takes to know how to model together : though and action, control and learning, stability and change. The elaboration of a strategy, by a SME, follows a process of its own that is adapted to its technological and organizationel capacities but it must also be connected to the opportunities seized by the manager.Based one's argument on the case study of a small cooperative cellar, we illustrate the elaboration process of a strategy. We retain the story line of the manager who served as chairman of the board of directors of the cooperative and also as managing director of this small firm. We shall see that this functional originality allowed the organization to combine innovation and sustainability on all fields of activity. This helped it to continue the development of its wine industry, in spite of the functional problems or the evolutions of his Market. To study "the innovation being made" has brought to the foreground one after the other the events-keys, which shaped the corporate policy led from 1988 to 2011, and allowed to highlight the role of the actors at the heart of the process of strategic Learning
