Abstract:
The study examined the effect of employees’ welfare on the organizational effectiveness in Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomosho (BUTH), Nigeria. Using the survey method, 384 staff members of Bowen University Teaching Hospital (BUTH), Ogbomosho were sampled to test three hypotheses. The findings of the study showed that the available welfare programmes (job-related injuries and illness prevention facilities; subsidized medical facilities for employee’s family members; training and development) in BUTH had a significant impact on employees’ performance (R2=.642, F= 16.413, P<.05). It was further established that there was a positive and significant relationship between corporate performance and economic welfare scheme (r = .209, p<.05), recreational welfare services and corporate performance (r = .169, p<.05), while no significant relationship was found between corporate performance and facilitative welfare scheme (r = .070, p>.05) of the hospital. The findings of the study indicated employees’ lack of trust in the BUTH’s welfare programmes (β=.318, t= 5.287, p<.05), tedious procedures in applying for the use of welfares’ facilities (β=.270, t= 4.283, p<.05), bad leadership (β=.238, t= 4.136, p<.05), and poor implementation of welfare programmes (β=.122, t= 2.286, p<.05) as the major factors affecting the effectiveness of employees’ welfare programmes in BUTH. The study thus recommended improvement of workers’ working conditions and general welfare in order to elicit employees’ job satisfaction and motivation for increased work performance in the hospital

Abstract:
The performance of a company is intricately linked to the collective efforts of its individuals, who are driven by motivation, discipline, and the well-being they experience. This study delves deeply into the complex interaction of these three elements, both together and individually, on the performance spectrum of PT. Delta Steel Services. The results indicate that 23.4% of the fluctuations in company performance can be attributed to the interplay of work motivation, discipline, and employee welfare. Interestingly, while motivation and discipline do not show a significant impact on PT. Delta Steel Services' performance, contrary to conventional wisdom, employee welfare emerges as the main driver, positively and significantly influencing organizational outcomes. These findings highlight the crucial role of employee welfare as the key to enhancing performance within PT. Delta Steel Services. Therefore, it underscores the importance for companies to prioritize initiatives aimed at improving employee welfare. Such initiatives may include comprehensive health programs, attractive incentives, and robust career development pathways. By improving the welfare of their workforce, companies can steer themselves toward performance optimization, paving the way for sustainable growth and high competitiveness in the corporate world. Firms that prioritize and enhance the welfare of their employees are poised to cultivate a more productive and cohesive workplace environment. This, in turn, fosters the company's sustained success amidst competitive market dynamics

Full text
Abstract:
The “dual carbon” goal has become a major national strategy, an inherent requirement for high-quality economic development. As a crucial indicator of measuring sustainable development capabilities, ecological welfare performance has emerged as a core tool for enhancing human welfare, achieving sustainable development, advancing ecological civilization construction, and promoting green development. This study focuses on the “dual carbon” goal appeal, clarifies the concept connotation of ecological welfare performance, assesses the research progress of ecological welfare performance, deeply analyzes the internal relationship between the “dual carbon” goal and ecological welfare performance, builds a research framework for ecological welfare performance, and points out the marginal contribution, research prospects, and shortcomings of ecological welfare performance research under the “dual carbon” goal. The findings are as follows: (1) Research on ecological welfare performance has shifted from a single dimension to a multi-dimensional and multi-level comprehensive consideration, involving multiple disciplines. Literature research focuses on four aspects, namely, the connotation and representation of welfare, the interaction between ecosystems and welfare, ecological welfare performance research, and “dual carbon” target and ecological welfare performance research. (2) From the perspective of research hotspots and historical evolution, most scholars pay more and more attention to empirical research and application-oriented research, and it is still necessary to constantly explore new theoretical frameworks and methodologies in the future to better understand the changing rules and driving mechanisms of ecological welfare performance. (3) From the perspective of the ecological welfare performance research framework, an in-depth analysis of the relationship between natural ecological consumption, economic growth, and welfare is carried out. Based on the change in research paradigm, a two-stage ecological welfare performance evaluation framework is constructed to promote the realization of the “dual carbon” goal and the continuous optimization of ecological welfare performance, so as to provide a reference basis for the scientific assessment of sustainable development capacity.

Abstract:
Improving the efficiency of converting natural resources into social benefits is an important issue for sustainable development in today’s world. Based on this background this paper applies the super-efficient SBM model with non-expected output to measure the ecological welfare performance (EWP) of Chinese provinces from 2005–2019, and explores the relationship between government competition and EWP under different assessment systems. The research results show that government competition under economic performance assessment is self-interested and short-sighted, which can negatively affect ecological welfare performance in the current period as well as in the next four years. In contrast, government competition under the environmental assessment system promotes EWP in both the current and long term, balancing short-term and long-term benefits. The results of the spatial GMM found that government competition under economic performance appraisal can deteriorate EWP in local as well as surrounding areas, but government competition under the environmental assessment system can achieve an increase in local ecological welfare performance and the spillover effect is not significant. To alleviate the limitations of a single appraisal system, this paper incorporates both economic and ecological appraisals into the multidimensional appraisal system. When the weights of both are between 1:9 and 3:7, the government competition under multidimensional performance appraisal can promote both current and longer-term EWP, and achieve its own ecological welfare performance without affecting the surrounding areas.

Abstract:
The regional development in border areas including in eastern Indonesia can not be separated from important participation of local government as reflecting through the local financial performance indicators. Mostly, in some recent decades, there has been a defined policy on fiscal decentralization which is able to boost the local governments to escalate their financial performances. This research aims to seek the magnitude of local financial performance effects on the border community welfare in the areas. Furthermore, this research is also intended to discover the border community welfare effects on local financial performance. The research uses secondary data that is the application of the panel data analysis method. The results show that local financial performance is not affected by the increasing welfare of the border community. However, the upliftment of community welfare indeed possesses a significant influence on an increase in local financial performance. Efforts are needed to improve the welfare of border communities through increasing development priorities, especially by the central government to the foremost and outermost areas in eastern Indonesia.

Abstract:
Based on the concept of high-quality development, this paper constructs an urban ecological welfare evaluation framework, measures the urban ecological welfare performance in Jiangsu Province from 2005 to 2019 using a stochastic frontier production function model, and conducts a spatial and temporal divergence feature analysis, combining a spatial panel econometric model and a threshold panel regression model to explore the spatial effects and mechanisms of urban ecological welfare performance. The results show that: (1) The urban ecological welfare performance in Jiangsu province has been increasing every year, and the spatial divergence between north and south is significant, with the overall trend of southern Jiangsu > central Jiangsu > northern Jiangsu. (2) The differences in urban ecological welfare performance among the three regions are gradually decreasing, with the high values expanding and the low values decreasing, and the urban ecological welfare performance in northern Jiangsu Province is gradually approaching that in southern Jiangsu Province, and the urban ecological welfare performance level tends to be balanced. (3) There are significant negative spillover effects of industrial structure, city scale, and economic development level on urban ecological welfare performance, as well as significant threshold effects of innovation level, industrial structure, foreign trade dependence, and economic development, and significant differences in the degree of influence of urbanization on urban ecological welfare performance under different threshold variables. (4) The urbanization and economic development levels are the fundamental factors driving urban ecological welfare performance improvement. Industrial structure optimization, city scale, technological innovation, and foreign trade dependence positively contribute to urban welfare performance, and government financial pressure constrains the performance level improvement. In the future, a long-term mechanism for high-quality green development should be constructed, spatial spillover channels should be continuously improved, welfare thresholds should be effectively circumvented, and urban ecological welfare performance should be promoted in a concerted manner.

Abstract:
Abstract Based on the construction of a composite index to assess the relative performance of welfare policies, we show that the variability of performances cannot be explained only by the amount of resources devoted to social policies, but also by its composition: countries with higher shares of social public expenditure, specifically aimed at reducing income concentration, obtain better results. This associates the traditional classification of the European welfare systems to the performance obtained in the social sector.

This study examines company profits, sales (product price multiplied by total products sold), employee performance as reflected by total production x product price, corporate social responsibility funds and employee welfare as reflected in employee income in 25 public companies listed on the IDX. Indonesian random sampling uses secondary data from annual reports published by related companies which are then quantitatively processed using the moving average autoregression method. We find that corporate social responsibility along with sales, employee performance and employee welfare is positively related to company profits.

Abstract:
The paper deals with the analysis of methodology of Environmental Performance Index. The authors analyzed and systematized the main existing integrated indices, which were used for evaluation of environmental, social and economic situation in the countries. The authors allocated the environmental performance index as a basis for analyzing the environmental policy of the country. In this direction, the authors analysed the main features, structure and indicators of environmental performance index. The authors allocated the world-leader countries with huge level of CO2 emissions. According to the results, the authors aproved that these countries should improve their environmental policy. Accordingly, they occupied less position in environmental performance index. For the purpose to analyze the relation between ecological, social and economic welfare, the authors analyzed score of sustainable development goal index, social progress index and gross domestic product per capita. The comparison analysis of findings showed that countries with good position on environmental performance index have the strong position on sustainable development goal index and social progress index. The authors suggested that Ukraine should orient to the EU countries with purpose to improve the environmental policy.

Abstract:
The push towards overcoming low productivity and improving on organizational performance has been in the frontline of organizational objectives as managers make great effort to meet the demands of stakeholders. This struggle has led research into the roles of the employees in making productivity what the shareholders and investors desire. Organisations may differ, but one common objective of every organization is growth and development, which is only possible when the organization is performing well in its environment. This study adopted the equity theory of motivation as framework; this investigation examines the influence of staff welfare package has on organizational performance. The discourse, established from the analysed literatures that staff welfare package increases staff motivation, while staff motivation on the other hand increases and brings about productivity. Also, the paper assumes that there is a sparse volume of literatures on effects of staff welfare package specifically on organizational performance. The study therefore concludes that while more empirical work needs to be done specifically on the effects of staff welfare package on organisational performance, it can be inferred from previous findings as follows: if staff welfare package leads to motivation, and staff motivation leads to higher productivity; it, therefore, follows that staff welfare package impacts organizational performance. Recommendations were made that employers should let go of the entitlement attitude; the staff should be granted a welfare package of value; the employers should follow the tenets of equity and fair welfare; and the staff should strive to know their rights and privileges.

Abstract:
We study the relationship between green credit and ecological welfare performance, green credit’s mechanism, and future trends of ecological welfare performance in China. We aim to determine whether the green credit policy has a positive or negative effect on ecological welfare performance and to give suggestions about green credit for emerging markets, with China as an example. These problems are evaluated with two empirical models by using quadratic and interaction terms, as well as a time series model, ARIMA(2,3,2). The results show that the relationship between green credit and ecological welfare performance is an inverted U shape, and ecological welfare performance peaks when loans approach 2934.2 billion yuan, which equals 441.7446 billion dollars, corresponding to loans between 2015 and 2016. In addition, national income and ecological footprint have a suppressive effect on the impact of green credit on ecological welfare performance, and lifespan can positively affect the mechanism. Moreover, the result of ARIMA(2,3,2) corresponds to previous results and indicates that the ecological welfare performance will fluctuate within a range if green credits continue to be issued.

Abstract:
AbstractThis paper argues that the current drive towards greater use of animal-based measures for welfare assessment raises important issues for how farm visits by welfare assessors are performed. As social scientists, we employ a number of contemporary social science ideas to offer a new approach to examining the practice and performance of farm animal assessment. We identify key findings from a recent study of contemporary farm assessment and speculate upon what some of the challenges of introducing animal-based measures may be. We conclude by arguing for a greater awareness of how sets of knowledge are made, circulated, practiced and become an integral component of the procedures, practices and discourses around farm animal welfare assessment in farm assurance.

Abstract:
Suppose that players in a stochastic partnership have the option to quit and rematch anonymously. If stage-game payoffs are subject to a persistent initial shock, the (unique) social welfare-maximizing equilibrium induces a “dating” process in which all partners enjoy the full potential equilibrium gains from each match. By contrast, maximizing social welfare in non-stochastic repeated games with rematching requires that players burn money or otherwise fail to realize all potential equilibrium gains. Comparative statics on welfare and turnover are also provided, consistent with documented patterns of “survivorship bias” and “honeymoon.” (JEL C72, C73, C78)

Abstract:
General Background: Cooperatives play a crucial role in enhancing member welfare, with factors like member performance, work motivation, and financial systems directly influencing outcomes. Specific Background: In Sharia-based cooperatives, the financing system adheres to Islamic principles, providing a distinct framework for assessing its impact on welfare. However, research on the combined effect of these variables in such cooperatives remains limited. Knowledge Gap: Despite the significance of performance and motivation in driving cooperative success, the relationship between these factors and welfare, alongside the role of the Sharia financing system, is underexplored in the cooperative context. Aims: This study aims to analyze the influence of member performance, work motivation, and the Sharia financing system on member welfare in the BMT Anugrah Cooperative, Cirebon. Results: A survey-based quantitative method was employed, with data collected from cooperative members and analyzed using multiple regression. Findings reveal that member performance and work motivation significantly and positively impact welfare. Additionally, the Sharia financing system contributes positively to welfare improvement. Novelty: This study highlights the critical role of the Sharia financing system, alongside performance and motivation, as key drivers of welfare in Sharia-compliant cooperatives, an area that has received limited attention in prior research. Implications: The results suggest that enhancing member performance and motivation, coupled with optimizing Sharia-based financial services, can serve as effective strategies for improving welfare. These insights offer valuable guidance for cooperative management in formulating policies aimed at sustainable welfare improvement in Sharia cooperatives.

Abstract:
Parental welfare status was found to be a marker for identifying a group of children with an increased prevalence of psychiatric disorder and poor school performance. The marker was particularly strong for psychiatric disorder in young boys and for poor school performance in young girls. For instance, the prevalence rates of psychiatric disorder, in the 6 to 11 age group, for welfare and non-welfare boys, were 40.0% and 13.9%, respectively; and for poor school performance in welfare and non-welfare girls, 27.8% and 6.1%, respectively. The relationship between different measures of psychosocial disadvantage and these child deficits was examined. Multivariate analyses revealed, for example, that parental welfare status made an independent contribution to the prediction of psychiatric disorder and was a more powerful predictor of poor school performance in girls compared to boys. The implications of these and other results are discussed.

Abstract:
Enhancing urban ecological welfare performance is essential for achieving sustainable urban development and fostering a comprehensive regional green transformation. This study develops a quantitative assessment framework for urban ecological welfare performance, grounded in both the welfare of urban residents and their consumption of ecological resources. Employing the spatio-temporal Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index model to dissect the ecological welfare performance across 108 key prefecture-level cities within China’s Yangtze River Economic Belt, considering both temporal and spatial dimensions, the analysis reveals a “W”-shaped trajectory in the ecological welfare performance from 2006 to 2022, characterized by pronounced spatial disparities. Particularly in the downstream coastal regions and notably the Yangtze River Delta, advantages in social and economic structures, along with public fiscal outlays, contribute to a superior ecological welfare performance, exhibiting a notable spatial spillover effect. The study introduces six key factors—social benefit, economic benefit, population dispersion, population density in urban areas, urbanization scale, and ecological sustainability—to examine their influence on ecological welfare performance, uncovering substantial differences in the outcomes of temporal and spatial decomposition. Temporal decomposition indicates that economic benefit and urbanization scale are the primary drivers enhancing ecological welfare performance, whereas population dispersion is identified as the primary inhibitor. Spatial decomposition reveals that the determinants of above-average urban ecological welfare vary regionally and undergo dynamic shifts over time. Overall, a holistic understanding of the interplay among economic growth, ecological preservation, and the enhancement of residents’ welfare can inform the development and execution of tailored policies by local governments.
