This paper presents a performance enhancement of a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) system with control of generator-side converter for a wind turbine application. This method uses zero d- axis stator current control to minimize winding losses of the generator. The electromagnetic torque of the generator is correlated with the magnitude of the qaxis stator current, while the daxis stator current is regulated at zero, the control scheme decouples the dq-axis stator current control through a vector con- trol for the generator-side converter. In this paper, the starting performance of a double-fed induction generator (DFIG) operating at super-synchronous speed is investigated when varying the values of the DC link capacitor. Curve fitting is applied to derive mathematical equations (polynomial) relating the variation of the stator current THD with the value of the DC capacitor. Stator current spectral analysis techniques are usually used to detect rotor faults in induction machines. Magnetic field anomalies in the airgap due to the rotor faults result in characteristic side-band harmonic components in the stator current spectrum, which can be measured as rotor fault signatures. Abstract:
This report presents findings on the evaluation of foundation layers under concrete pavements in the state of Illinois. It also provides recommendations and scenarios where unbound granular layers can be safely used under concrete pavements as economical and well-performing subbase layers. The current practice and mechanistic design methods for constructing concrete pavements in Illinois was first evaluated, including historical studies that led to the current design procedures and policies. The performance of concrete pavements with unbound granular layers in Illinois were then evaluated, and

Abstract:
This study investigates the determinants of emerging markets performance during five United States Federal Reserve monetary tightening and easing cycles from 2004 to 2023. It shows how macroeconomic and institutional variables are associated with emerging markets’ performance, determinants of resilience differ during tightening versus easing cycles, and institutions matter more during difficult times. Findings are largely consistent with economic intuition, i.e., current account balance, international reserves, and inflation are all important determinants of emerging markets resilience.
