<p>Induction machines convert more than 55% of electrical energy into various other forms in industrial and domestic environments. Improved performance, especially by reduction of losses in induction machines hence can significantly reduce consumption of electricity. Many design and control methods are adopted to make induction machines work more efficiently, however certain design compromises are inevitable, such as skewing the rotor to improve the magnetic noise and torque characteristics increase the cross current losses considerably in a cage rotor, degrading the efficiency of the motor. In Turkey, most of the existing buildings are vulnerable to earthquakes due to their poor material quality and inaccurate design. Besides, so many destructive earthquakes occurred in the past, because Turkey is located on a seismically active region. To assess seismic performance of the existing buildings, the 2007 Turkish Earthquake Code offers two methods which are linear and nonlinear. The objective of this research is to develop a bearing fault detection scheme for electric machines via stator current. A new method, called the stator current noise cancellation method, is proposed to separate bearing fault-related components in the stator current. This method is based on the concept of viewing all bearing-unrelated components as noise and defining the bearing detection problem as a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) problem. In this method, a noise cancellation algorithm based on Wiener filtering is employed to solve the problem. Furthermore, a statistical method is proposed to

Stator current spectral analysis techniques are usually used to detect rotor faults in induction machines. Magnetic field anomalies in the airgap due to the rotor faults result in characteristic side-band harmonic components in the stator current spectrum, which can be measured as rotor fault signatures. Stator current harmonics due to a load torque oscillation often obscure and even overwhelm rotor eccentricity fault detection since the magnitude of load oscillation induce

This Ph.D. thesis deals with condition monitoring of mechanical failures in variable speed induction motor drives by stator current analysis. Two effects of a mechanical fault are considered: load torque oscillations and airgap eccentricity. The analytical modelling using the magnetomotive force and permeance wave approach leads to two stator current models. The fault provokes amplitude or phase modulation of the fundamental current component. Suitable detection methods are spectral analysis and parameter estimation in steady state whereas time-frequency analysis is required during transients.

Deflection is usually controlled by limiting the span/depth ratio. One aspect of this research is to document the deflection of a concrete slab in a large residential block. The other part of the research is to look at current design limits. Limits on deformation were set many decades ago, when the forms of construction, partitions, finishing, cladding and service were very different from what they are now. Part of that is to review the span-to-depth method of design. Site investigation and testing theory through observation and data collection was the main deductive approach of this research.

Abstract:
Magnetic Resonance Electrical Impedance Tomography (MREIT) reconstructs conductivity distribution with internal current density (MRCDI) and boundary voltage measurements. There are many algorithms proposed for the solution of MREIT inverse problem which can be divided into two groups: Current density (J) and magnetic flux density (B) based reconstruction algorithms. In this thesis, J-based MREIT reconstruction algorithms are implemented and optimized with modifications. These algorithms are simulated with five conductivity models which have different geometries and conductivity values. Results
