Abstract:
The lifestyle of students plays a crucial role in achieving academic success, with particular emphasis on the impact of family and peer relationships, health practices, and study habits. This study sought to determine the students’ quality of lifestyle, academic performance, and the significant relationship between the students’ lifestyle and academic performance among the three (3) schools of West II District, Division of Cagayan de Oro City, School Year 2023-2024. There was a total of two hundred eighty-one (281) Grade 10 students’ participants through a stratified random sampling method. This study applied a researcher-developed questionnaire that utilized the Mean, Standard Deviation, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (r) to determine the significant association between students' lifestyles and academic achievement. The study revealed that the respondents possess a commendable quality of life, particularly in terms of familial and peer relationships. Students' academic performance was deemed very satisfactory, with a high-level interpretation. A weak to moderate positive correlation exists between students' lifestyles and academic achievement. Thus, students need to know the importance of having a better lifestyle not just for their present state but for their future endeavors in life. It is therefore recommended to support students in cultivating a high-quality lifestyle that encompasses building strong interpersonal relationships, maintaining good health, and improving their study techniques to improve academic performance.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Franchise literature disputes how the relationship between franchisors and franchisees develops over time. Traditional lifecycle theory views relationships following an ascendant curve, in which relationship quality and performance strengthen over time. Another perspective better reflects the peculiarities of the franchisor-franchisee relationship, indicating that relationship quality in franchise systems follows a U-shaped curve. There is also limited research on the moderating effect of time on the relationship between relational variables and outcomes. This study sheds light on the influence of relationship duration on relationship quality and financial performance in the franchisee-franchisor relationship. Using a self-report survey from a sample of 342 franchisees, mean and regression analyses are conducted to test relationships. Results confirm the time effect on franchisor-franchisee relationship quality and performance, but the hypothesized shape of relationship phases is only partially confirmed. Moreover, time has a positive moderating effect on the impact of relationship quality on financial performance.

Ukama, Edwin Emmanuel. "The relationship between export performance and global economic performance." Diss., University of Pretoria, 2012. http://hdl.handle.net/2263/23058.

Abstract:
As trade between nations has progressed, some countries have focussed their economic policies on increasing exports. In many cases, these exports have been the most significant driver behind the economic success of these nations and the resultant improvement in the welfare of their citizens. This research is needed in order to understand the extent that a country is dependent on the economic output of its trading partners to drive its export performance. This is of particular interest in the context of the current economic issues being experienced in some of the major markets of the world. The research evaluates the statistical relationship between world GDP and export performance, adjusting for different time periods and different industries. A Granger causality test was also applied in an effort to avoid the shortfalls of simple longitudinal regression tests. The sample included data from 1948 to 2010, across 11 industries in 20 countries. The research found a strong relationship between world GDP and export performance, although the results of the Granger test show that this is not a causal relationship. The diversity and complexity of a country’s industrial structure emerged as a significant theme in the research and was integrated into a model (Figure 5) that can be used by policy makers to assess their own export position according to these variables. The results of this research can assist policy makers in understanding the vulnerabilities of their export performance to global economic cycles as well as in prioritising and evaluating industrial sector development. The research highlights how, in spite of the challenges that may be experienced with regards to global economic performance, there is still a great deal of scope for policy makers to influence their own futures when it comes to export performance.<br>Dissertation (MBA)--University of Pretoria, 2012.<br>Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS)<br>unrestricted

Abstract:
Business leaders lack consistent information to make and support strategic budgetary decisions while supporting corporate social responsibility initiatives. Grounded in stakeholder and contract theory, this correlation study examined the relationship between Fortune reputation scores and return on asset, return on equity, and earnings per share, while controlling for total assets. Archival data were collected from 25 corporate websites of U.S. banks included in Fortune Most Admired Companies listing from 2011 to 2013. For 2011 there was a moderate positive partial correlation between Fortune reputation index (FRI) and return on equity (ROE) while controlling for total assets, r = .47, p < .05, with higher levels of FRI associated with higher levels of ROE. For 2012 there was a moderate positive partial correlation between FRI and ROE while controlling for total assets, r = .48, p < .05, with higher levels of FRI associated with higher levels of ROE. Correspondingly, there was a moderate positive partial correlation between FRI and EPS, r = .56, p < 0.5 with higher levels of FRI associated with higher levels of ROE in 2012. For 2013, there was also a moderate positive, but not statistically significant, partial correlation between FRI and EPS, r = .41, p > .05, with higher levels of FRI associated with higher levels of EPS. The implications for positive social change include greater support for socially responsible business strategies to promote sustainability and more business leaders promoting the provision of social benefits for stakeholders.

Abstract:
Understanding the relationship between Human Resource Management (HRM) and the performance of organisations has been an ongoing area of interest within management fields. Important in this domain has been ‘the black box’, the unknown construct of connections between HRM and performance, an area which has remained unable to be fully ‘illuminated’ by researchers. The significance of this being, that in increasingly competitive local, national and global markets, it is critically important for organisations to efficiently and effectively manage all forms of resources ’ involved in their operations. Here, human resources play an intrinsically pivotal role. To explore ‘the black box’, and with a refinement to the HRM/performance relationship, this research was driven by an overarching research question which was: What relationship/s did HRM have with employee performance? Focusing on employee performance allowed for the broad performance construct to be more discernable, providing an opportunity to better consider its potential relationships with HRM. To further guide this exploration, research objectives were developed to address unresolved needs in this field to: better conceptualise HRM and employee performance, develop a theoretical model which would assist in explaining the HRM/performance relationship, posit an explanation of the resolution to ‘the black box’, posit an effective methodology with which to research allied phenomena...<br>Thesis (PhD Doctorate)<br>Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)<br>Griffith Business School<br>Department of Management<br>Full Text

Abstract:
The concept of “corporate social responsibility” has evolved during the recent years. If in the past it was only conceived as something additional it now plays a significant role when it comes to the development of the business strategy. The recognition of social and environmental domains as strategically relevant implicitly entails considering a broader group of stakeholders when taking decisions. There are several ways thorough which a company can integrate these two domains into its value chain and show its commitment; one is becoming a certified B Corp. B Corps are hybrid companies that seek to overcome the economic-social trade-off by combining their “for-profit” mission with a social mission, which have to be pursued with the same effort. After the B Corp model and the certification process are presented, this research will move the focus on investigating whether the social performance outcome is influenced by the financial performance of the company. This study is based on a sample of selected European B Corps, whose social and financial performances are analysed in a time span of 10 years.

de, Paula Santana Hugo A. "Relationship of Force Variables to Vertical Jumps Performance." Digital Commons @ East Tennessee State University, 2016. https://dc.etsu.edu/etd/2618.

Full text
Abstract:
The isometric mid-thigh pull (IMTP) has been cited often in the scientific literature; however, there is still a lack of agreement as to the ideal body position used during this test, and how body position impacts the relationship between IMTP performance and dynamic performance. Thus, one aim of this dissertation was to compare two different IMTP positions and correlate the kinetic outputs from each position to vertical jump (VJ) performance. Another purpose of this dissertation was analyze which method of data normalization for IMTP force variables best correlates to squat jump (SJ) and countermovement jump (CMJ) performance. In the first study, subjects presented higher force outputs for an upright position (hip angles 145°, knee 125°) when compared to a bent position (hip angles 125°, knee 125°). However, there were no statistical differences among correlations from the two positions when correlating to VJ performance. Thus, we suggest that the upright position should be the one used for research and monitoring due to higher force values presented. The second part of this study was to compare correlations from non-normalized and normalized data from the IMTP to SJ and CMJ. Besides non-normalized data, five common methods of normalization were used – subtracting the body mass force, dividing the forces per body mass, allometric scale, scaling by height (Ford’s scale) and scaling by Sinclair coefficient value. In general, higher value correlations were presented with the non-normalized methods for both jumps – SJ and CMJ. Therefore, when using IMTP data to correlate with VJ performance, there is no need to normalize the data.

Wininger, Steven Richard. "The Relationship Between Vision and Athletic Performance." TopSCHOLAR®, 1995. http://digitalcommons.wku.edu/theses/925.

Full text
Abstract:
In today's competitive world of athletics it is not uncommon to discover a few athletes actively involved in some form of vision enhancement motivated by the promise that the exercises will improve their athletic performance. A review of past and present literature in the area of sports vision revealed that these athletes are performing exercises based upon a very weak scientific foundation. Most of the research investigating the relationship between vision and athletic performance has been plagued by flawed methodology, as well as extremely low numbers of subjects. The purpose of this study was to test for any relationship between vision and athletic performance. If it could be shown that a relationship exists between a particular visual attribute and a specific athletic skill, it would help establish the utility for using vision enhancement exercises to improve athletic performance. In the present study, four NCAA Division I athletic teams were tested on a battery of visual attributes prior to the start of their regular seasons. The athletic teams tested were Women's volleyball (N=14), Men's basketball (N=15), Women's basketball (N=12), and Men's baseball (N=27). Each athlete was tested on the following visual measures: visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, depth perception, choice reaction time, hand and eye dominance, and peripheral attention. A copy of each team's cumulative seasonal statistics was obtained and used as a measure of athletic ability. These statistics contained cumulative information on each individual player. Only the major players were selected for analysis. The selection of the "major" players was based on a ratio of participation for each sport. Data analyses were carried out separately for each sport. For all three sports the visual attribute of contrast sensitivity suffered from a lack of variance and was omitted from further analyses. A significant amount of variance was accounted for in only one seasonal statistic from the data for Women's volleyball. Choice reaction time and UFOV™ duration (a peripheral attention score) accounted for 79% of the variance for the volleyball statistic of digs per game. Examination of the data for the Men's and Women's basketball teams did not reveal any significant relationships. The analyses of the data from the Men's baseball team revealed a significant correlation between batting average and depth perception, as well as a marginal trend between batting average and choice reaction time. The present study improved over past research by employing a test of peripheral awareness. It was felt that the employment of this measurement was an improvement because peripheral awareness has been shown to be a better predictor of complex behavior compared to tests of peripheral perimetry used in past research. Two other ways in which the present study improved over past studies were by analyzing data from major players only and by investigating multiple visual attributes, sports, and athletic performance criteria. The present study could have been improved by employing an alternative method for measuring contrast sensitivity, by increasing the number of subjects analyzed for each sport and for each position within each sport, and by developing a test or battery of tests to measure specific athletic skills in the absence of environmental confounds such as player-position bias, opponents, and teammates.

Abouzeedan, Adli. "SME Performance and Its Relationship to Innovation." Doctoral thesis, Linköpings universitet, Institutionen för ekonomisk och industriell utveckling, 2011. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:liu:diva-71349.

Full text
Abstract:
Current SME performance models suffer from a number of disadvantages. The models use intensively a business ratio approach, they look at SMEs as a homogenous group, they consider firms to be closed systems, they do not directly incorporate the impact of an enterprise’s innovation activities, and finally they are complex and rely on sophisticated statistical refining methods making them unpractical to use by SME managers. There are four major challenges when one tries to build SME performance models that lack these deficiencies. The first challenge is that the desired performance evaluation model must optimally incorporate both quantitative and qualitative input. The second challenge is that the model must incorporate non-financial input parameters, such as firm size and age (among others), in the performance evaluation models. The third is that the model must consider the variety of SMEs as concerns their business sectors, nationalities, sizes, and ages. The final challenge is that the model must be able to utilize existing limited information available from the SMEs bookkeeping practices in an optimal way. The thesis addresses three questions related to constructing a better SMEperformance model, namely (1) What are the advantages and disadvantages of the existing models used in evaluating SME performance? (2) What characterizes a comprehensive model for measuring SME performance with acknowledgement of the firm’s innovation activities? (3) How can a firm’s innovation activities be enhanced in relation to the firm’s external environment? To construct a model that copes with these challenges, I used a literature-based selection of parameters as well as a theory-based selection. I used both a conceptual approach and an empirical approach to discuss and propose a model, the Survival Index Value (or SIV) model, as an alternative to the existing performance models for SMEs. The major contributions of this thesis to the field of SME performance can be summarized in three outcomes: the SIV model as a new model of SME performance evaluation, the ASPEM as a new tool for strategic utilization of SME performance models, and a new approach to account for innovation in relation to the external environment of the firm using the IBAM tool. The work adds to the theory of the firm, as it presents a new way of evaluating firm performance. It also contributes to bridging the theory of the firm to organizational theory, by elevating the significance of networking and its impact on SME efficiency.

Slater, Lori. "National Culture's Relationship to Project Team Performance." Thesis, Capella University, 2017. http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/#viewpdf?dispub=10288883.

Full text
Abstract:
<p> The topic of the study was the relationship between national culture and software development project team performance. Relationships were examined through the lenses of Hofstede&rsquo;s cultural dimension model and the human performance technology model. Research indicated that software development project teams continue to face challenges completing projects within planned scope, on schedule, and within budget despite improved project management methods. The identified gap in the research was that most studies were qualitative and non-productivity related, a gap addressed by this quantitative, productivity-focused study. Four research questions were posed to determine the relationship between national culture and project team performance. Each question inquired as to the relationship between a team-level cultural measure and the number of user stories completed by the team during a sprint. The power distance (PDI) measures were the project team&rsquo;s average PDI and the PDI variance within the project team. The uncertainty avoidance (UAI) measures were the project team&rsquo;s average UAI and the UAI variance within the project team. A quantitative method was applied using a sample from the population of software development project teams that used the Agile management method. The data were extracted from archived productivity project data from 73 sprints conducted by teams from one firm. Archived email data identifying each team member&rsquo;s country of origin was used for each member&rsquo;s national culture. Spearman&rsquo;s rho was applied to the dataset. Results indicated there was a statistically significant relationship between PDI variance and team productivity, and between UAI variance and team productivity. The relationship between a team&rsquo;s average PDI and team productivity, and between the team&rsquo;s average UAI and team productivity, tended toward significance. Avenues for future research include duplicating the study using additional cultures and analyzing the relationship using additional Hofstede cultural dimensions.</p><p>

Abstract:
Abstract New methods for monitoring scale and corrosion inhibiting water treatment programs have been developed. These new patented methods utilize the measurement of system consumption of actives in the treatment program by fluorescence analysis.1-4 The applied dosage of treatment program and the amount of actives available to the system are measured with inert fluorescent tracers added to the treatments. System consumption of actives is defined as the difference between the amount of actives added and remaining in the system.2,5-7 Consumption measurements determine changes in the whole operating system (not a simulated, small portion of the system). Consumption measurements can also be made on individual portions of the system (heat exchangers). Changes in consumption of inhibitors and dispersants can be related to changes in system operating conditions and performance. Abstract:
This study was part of the analytic work carried out in preparation for the Bank's Strategy with Belize in 2004. The objective of this document is to examine the relationship between economic performance and poverty. In order to do so, it explores the determinants of changes in poverty during the 90s, and particularly how this relationship holds for those sectors that led economic growth. More specifically, it looks at the relationship between the sector in which vulnerable people work and the economic sectors that led either the recovery or the slow down of the economy, after controlling for other relevant demographic and socioeconomic factors. The main conclusions of the paper are that given the poverty characteristics and market conditions of the country, poverty alleviation policies need to address both issues, reducing vulnerability to external shocks and augmenting the assets of the extremely poor.
