Abstract:
ABSTRACT Franchise literature disputes how the relationship between franchisors and franchisees develops over time. Traditional lifecycle theory views relationships following an ascendant curve, in which relationship quality and performance strengthen over time. Another perspective better reflects the peculiarities of the franchisor-franchisee relationship, indicating that relationship quality in franchise systems follows a U-shaped curve. There is also limited research on the moderating effect of time on the relationship between relational variables and outcomes. This study sheds light on the influence of relationship duration on relationship quality and financial performance in the franchisee-franchisor relationship. Using a self-report survey from a sample of 342 franchisees, mean and regression analyses are conducted to test relationships. Results confirm the time effect on franchisor-franchisee relationship quality and performance, but the hypothesized shape of relationship phases is only partially confirmed. Moreover, time has a positive moderating effect on the impact of relationship quality on financial performance.

Abstract:
Purpose: Over the past two decades, sustainable development and green economy approaches have been implemented in different fields, including supply chain management. In developed countries, sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) has attracted attention from both academia and industry. However, there is a substantial knowledge gap about supply chain social sustainability in developing countries. Hence, the main purpose of this study is to present the link between social sustainability and economic performance with the mediating role of operational performance in sustainable supply chain management.
Design/methodology/approach: The PLS-SEM model is applied to identify factors affecting social sustainability and the relationship between social sustainability, operational performance, and economic performance in Vietnam.
Findings: The study broadens the concept and emphasizes the importance of sustainable development in the context of Vietnam and provides recommendations for managers on strategic planning and developing business towards sustainability. This study also encourages managers to enrich employees’ welfare and working conditions and con- tribute to the local community.
Research limitations/implications: The social indicators in developing countries are distinct from those in developed countries. Hence, this study may only apply in the context of developing countries. There are three main pillars of sustainable development, including economic (profit), environment (planet), and society (people). In this research, the author only examines the social and economic aspects.
Originality/value: The outcomes of this study demonstrate a clear link between the social and economic elements of sustainability. While demonstrating how fully implemented Social sustainability improves economic performance, this study stimulates academic research about the interrelationship of sustainability elements in supply chains.

Abstract:
In order to ensure profitability for shareholders, optimal contracting recommends the alignment between executive compensation and company performance. Large organizations have therefore adopted executives remuneration systems in order to induce positive market reaction and motivate executives. Complex compensation schemes are designed by Boards of Directors using strong pay-performance incentives that explain high levels of executive pay along with company size, demand for management skills and executive influence. However, the literature remains inconclusive on the pay-performance relationship owing to the various empirical methods used by researchers. Additionally, there has been little effort in the literature to compare methodologies on the pay-performance relationship. Using the dominant agency theory framework, the purpose of this study is to establish and examine the relationship between firm performance and executive pay. In addition, it intends to assess the characteristic of model specifications commonly adopted. To this aim, a quantitative analysis consisting of three complementary methods was performed on panel data from South African listed companies. The results of the main unrestricted first difference model indicate a strong non-linear relationship where the impact of current and previous firm performance on executive pay can be observed over 2 to 4-year period providing support to the optimal contracting theoretical perspective in the South African business context. In addition, CEO pay is more sensitive to firm performance as compared to Director pay. Lastly, although it affects executive pay levels, company size is not found to improve the pay-performance relationship.

Abstract:
The main challenges for sports psychologist and coaches in this century would be producing strong performance among the nondrug addict athletes. Relatively widespread use of such drugs as namely anabolic steroids to enhance performance dates back at least to the Olympic of the 1960's, although broad public awareness of such drugs use seems relatively recent. The easy availability of drugs, through illegal, contributes to the rise of drug addictions. This research explores some rationales of regulating drug use by athletes in order to determine the level of sport performance. The sample consisted of 97 athletes, drawn from athletes who competed in sports between Universities. Drug Usage Questionnaire and Sport Performance were used to collect the data. The correlation coefficient of 0.712 was noted respectively between the usage of drugs and sports performance. Even though the usage of drugs benefits the sports performance, but it is considered as cheating and unfair, harm, perversion of sports, unnaturalness and dehumanization. The government, sport psychology, counselors, coaches and sports bodies should play an important role to face the challenges to overcomes the evil, drug enhances to protect athletes' health and to achieve fair level playing field. Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to examine the influence of emotional intelligence on adaptive performance, the mediating effect of self-efficacy on the relationship between emotional intelligence and adaptive performance, and the moderating effects of change leadership and climate for innovation on the relationship between self-efficacy and adaptive performance. Data were gathered from 198 employees who were working in various organizations in Korea. To reduce the effect from common method bias, the adaptive performance was rated by both self and others(one hundred and ninety-eight peers or supervisors). As results, there was significantly positive relationship between emotional intelligence and adaptive performance. Self-efficacy partially mediated the relationships between emotional intelligence and self-rating adaptive performance, and fully mediated the relationships between emotional intelligence and other-rating adaptive performance. Change leadership moderated the relationship between self-efficacy and other-rating adaptive performance because the relationship was more positive when change leadership was high than low. Also climate for innovation had the moderating effect on the relationship self-efficacy and both self-rating and other-rating adaptive performance because the relationship was more positive when climate for innovation was high than low. Finally, implication of results and future research tasks were discussed with limitations.

Abstract:
Abstract: Effective employee relations management is essential to achieve organizational performance. This achievement can be attributed to the fact that workers comprise the largest portion of an organization's capacity for productivity. Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Nairobi City, Kenya has recently seen employee turnover as a result of poor communication among staff members, demotivation, and staff members migrating abroad, particularly nurses. This has resulted in low staff numbers and widespread customer dissatisfaction because of unexplained delays and lengthy lines. Accordingly, this study investigated the influence of employee relationship management strategy on the performance of Mater Misericordiae hospital in Nairobi City, Kenya. In specific contexts, the study investigated the effects of; labour management problem solving efforts, employee empowerment relations and work environment relations; on the performance of Mater Misericordiae hospital in Nairobi City, Kenya. The study adopted descriptive survey design. Study population comprised 78 managers which included top and middle-level management staff. Census sampling was used to select respondents. Data was collected by use of semi-structured questionnaires. Descriptive data was analysed by use the of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 29.0. Inferential data was measured through regression and correlation. Qualitative data was analyzed by arranging responses according to the research questions and objectives. The study concludes that labor-management problem-solving efforts, employee empowerment relations, and work environment relations improve organizational performance in terms of customer satisfaction and financial stability. In this regard, the investigation concludes that employee relations are a pivotal determinant of performance in the healthcare facility. This can be due to the fact that employees' relationship in decision-making through union as a collective responsibility positively impacts performance. Keywords: Employee; Relationship; Management; Strategy; Performance. Title: EMPLOYEE RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT STRATEGY AND THE PERFORMANCE OF MATER MISERICORDIAE HOSPITAL IN NAIROBI CITY, KENYA Author: Armstrong Mutua Edward, Priscilla Wanjiku Ndegwa, James Odhiambo Oringo International Journal of Recent Research in Commerce Economics and Management (IJRRCEM) ISSN 2349-7807 Vol. 11, Issue 2, April 2024 - June 2024 Page No: 202-209 Paper Publications Website: www.paperpublications.org Published Date: 15-June-2024 DOI: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.11666702 Paper Download Link (Source) https://www.paperpublications.org/upload/book/EMPLOYEE%20RELATIONSHIP%20MANAGEMENT-15062024-1.pdf

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between organizational ambidexterity, the ability of companies to explore new and to exploit existing processes simultaneously, and manufacturing performance as represented by the sand cone model. Moreover, the paper analyses the impact of stable and dynamic environments on this relationship. Design/methodology/approach A set of research questions are tested using structural equation modeling on a sample of 231 Spanish manufacturing companies. Findings Results illustrate a significant relationship between ambidexterity as the basis and enabler for manufacturing performance improvements, building on the sand cone model and its dimensions of quality, delivery, cost, and flexibility. This relationship is further emphasized when companies work in a dynamic environment. Practical implications The study contributes to practice by investigating the important and yet under-explored relationships of ambidexterity, the sand cone model, performance, and a company’s wider market environment. Findings suggest a positive relationship between the sand cone model and ambidexterity capability. Originality/value This study adds to the limited theoretical and empirical understanding of the relationships between ambidexterity, the sand cone model, environmental dynamism, and performance. It also contributes through a set of empirical data derived from Spanish manufacturing companies.

Abstract:
This study examines the relationship of corporate social performance (CSP) to corporate financial performance (CFP) to determine if CSP is related to firm performance. Additionally, it examines whether firm size or industry affects the relationships between CSR and CSP. This study advances the literature as it examines this relationship for companies in a developing country, Indonesia, along with examining the impact of moderating variables on this relationship. Two models were developed: the first model was derived using slack resource theory and the second model was developed using the good management theory. Through the examination of 383 firms, the result of the study failed to find a significant relationship between CSP and CFP in either model. Further analysis, using the slack resource theory, did find that company size had a significant positive moderating effect on the relationship between CSP and CFP.

Abstract:
Organizational performance can be seen as dependent on employee job performance and productivity. One of the factors that influence employee job performance and productivity is the working relationship between employees and their managers. This paper examines the influence of the relationship between employees and their managers on enhancing employee performance and productivity. The study was conducted in a financial organization based in Durban (South Africa). A quantitative approach was utilized with a census method targeting a total population of 40 administrative employees. A questionnaire was constructed based on the research aims and was administered to all 40 respondents. As a result, the response rate was 65%. Key findings indicated that the relationship between managers and employees did affect employee performance and productivity. A positive relationship with a manager is closely linked to increased motivation and performance, while a negative relationship is linked with poor performance. An overall negative impact and high level of dissatisfaction amongst employees were found due to the current bureaucratic management style that managers adopt in their organization. Thus, it makes employees less productive and decreases their work performance. Furthermore, it was found that employees’ perception of their relationship with managers plays a significant role in predicting job performance. Recommendations for a better working relationship to promote employee performance and productivity include manager-employee training, team building activities, skills development programs for managers, employee rewards and recognition, increased communication platforms, and more consideration for employee well-being.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between inspirational leadership, participative decision making (PDM) and happiness at work (HAW). Design/methodology/approach The sampling frame consists of medical specialists in allergy of Spanish public hospitals (n=167). The authors used structural equation modelling to verify if the relationship between inspirational leadership and HAW is mediated by PDM. Findings Results suggest that PDM fully mediates the relationship between inspirational leadership and HAW. Thus, PDM plays an essential role in explaining how inspirational leader behaviours. Research limitations/implications The authors put forward a cross-sectional research, which does not guarantee similar results in the future. Future longitudinal studies may reveal further effects of inspirational motivation and PDM beyond HAW. Also the authors focussed on a specific population of medical specialists working in public allergy units. Future research might consider longitudinal analysis and other populations. Practical implications This research provides evidence of the direct and positive effect of inspirational leadership on HAW. However, fostering inspirational leadership is not sufficient on its own to foment HAW, and should be complemented by applying other organisational factors such as PDM. Originality/value In recent years, some studies have put forward different conceptual models to explain the gap in the relationship between human resource management and performance, considering the effect of mediating variables. This study proposes a theoretical model that attempts to develop this human resource “black box” by empirically validating a conceptual proposal that links inspirational leadership, PDM and HAW.

Abstract:
The aim of the study is to examine the effects of nepotism on employee performance in depth. The rationale of the study is that although nepotism is a common practice in many organizations, the effects of this issue on employee performance have not been adequately investigated. In this context, the study also aims to raise awareness of the problems that nepotism can create for managers and leaders and to guide them by explaining the long-term effects of such practices on organizational performance. The results of the study will make important contributions to the literature in terms of developing strategies to cope with nepotism, creating fairer management policies in organizations and improving the performance of organizations. The method of the research is literature review. For the research, first of all, the definitions of the variables of the study were mentioned. Then, a theoretical Deconstruction explaining the relationships between the variables was created. Later, the study and the results of these variables were carefully examined and hypotheses were formed. Finally, recommendations were made to organizations based on the research results. Indexes such as Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Web of Science have been searched for literature review purposes. According to the research result; the relationship between nepotism and employee performance is negative.

Abstract:
Extant literature shows the positive impact of institutional development on investor rationality and market efficiency. The authors extend this evidence by investigating the performance-flow relationship in the Chinese mutual fund market before and after the enforcement of the revised Law of the People’s Republic of China on Securities Investment Fund. Empirical evidence reveals that Chinese investors irrationally chase past star performers before institutional reform, but gradually become rational and less obsessed with star-chasing behaviors after reform. Moving one percentile upward in the relative performance among the star funds is associated with money inflows by 0.532% after reform, much lower than 1.433% before reform. The findings confirm the positive influence of institutional development on investor rationality and market efficiency. The successful experience can be borrowed by other emerging markets with less developed institutions.

The aim of this study was to revisit the relationship between productivity and performance by using the panel data model on Taiwanese food listed firms during 2008–2020. The result found that there is a U-shaped relationship between productivity and performance. On the contrary, research and development (R&D) innovation and performance have an inverse U-shaped relationship, reminding that when the food listed firms have a specific R&D innovation base, they should invest more powerful resources, professional productivity, and innovate the food listed firms.
