Abstract:
Abstract Fiber-Reinforced Polymers (FRP) materials are used to rehabilitate and strengthen structures systems and components including but not limited to concrete bridges, columns, marine piers, metallic and concrete pipes, metallic and concrete piles, parking garages, and even storage tanks structures. The growing appeal of this rehabilitation process consists of two primary purposes; to increase shear and load capacity and repair and prevent corrosion degradation. The advantages owners and designers consider when using this technology is the practicality of the process, speed of application,

Full text
Abstract:
The primary objective of this research was to evaluate pavement damage that may occur during the pavement milling process, which is critical to the overlay design and performance of asphalt pavements. To achieve this purpose, the most common milling practices in Indiana were implemented on several trial sections and various damage characterization tests performed in the field and laboratory. The research provided a testing methodology to determine if a milling machine was having detrimental effects on the residual pavement and a process to “tune” the particular milling machine to its optimal o

Yunovich and Thompson. L51886 Performance of Magnesium Anodes. Pipeline Research Council International, Inc. (PRCI), 2003. http://dx.doi.org/10.55274/r0010391.

Full text
Abstract:
Magnesium anodes are provided to the corrosion control industry by a number of domestic and international manufacturers and distributors. Due to the difficulty and time involved in performance testing, anode composition is commonly the only criterion used for quality control by the end users. However, experience has shown that compliance of the anode chemical composition with the ASTM B843 Standard Specification for Magnesium Alloy Anodes for Cathodic Protection can be misleading and does not always differentiate between the anodes of different quality. Thousands of magnesium anodes are produc

Abstract:
Performance measurement is a subject of some importance within the public sector. This study examines the design and development of a performance measurement framework within a local government department. It used a narrative case study approach to follow the process used by the design team involved. The design team began by examining the performance literature at a number of levels, and from this distilled eight design principles, from which they built a performance measurement framework. The design team encountered a number of challenges during this process; challenges they expected based on

Full text
Abstract:
In this work, the details of catalyst poison deposition are studied, and new catalyst restoration methods are explored. Lubrication oil makes its way through the combustion chamber and into the exhaust system, depositing poisons onto the catalyst and degrading catalyst performance. To estimate the degradation rate of the units and to find the best restoration method, two identical alumina-platinum oxidation catalysts were used in a dual setting, combining a field degradation engine and a laboratory testing engine. In order to find the best restoration process, the combination of both baking an
