Abstract:
The South American sabellid polychaete worm collections of Phyllis Knight-Jones and José María Orensanz were recovered, curated and specimens identified, comprising fourteen species grouped in nine genera. Five species belonging to the genera Chone Krøyer, 1856, Acromegalomma Gil and Nishi, 2017, Notaulax Tauber, 1879, Parasabella Bush, 1905, and Pseudopotamilla Bush, 1905, are described as new to science from the Patagonian Shelf (Argentina). Nine nominal species are known from Antarctica and adjacent waters that have been assigned to the genus Perkinsiana(Polychaeta: Sabellidae). Taxonomic notes for these species are provided. Currently, only six species are considered valid:Perkinsiana antarctica (Kinberg), P. decorata (Rullier), P. borsibrunoi Giangrande and Gambi, P. magalhaensis(Kinberg), P. milae Giangrande and Gambi and P. pusilla (Johansson); P. antarctica (Gravier) is incertae sedis; P. littoralis(Hartman) is a suggested synonym of P. magalhaensis (Kinberg) and P. antarctica (Gravier), while Potamilla antarcticachristensen

Abstract:
Knowledge about the diversity and distribution of Australian coastal sabellids (Polychaeta) is still scarce. Examination of specimens housed in museum collections has increased the number of species recorded in Australia and helped to clarify the relationships among certain taxa of Sabellidae. Australian specimens belonging to a group of genera considered the most derived of the Sabellidae were the subject of this taxonomic revision, resulting in the description of five new species in four genera (Laonome calida, sp. nov.; Perkinsiana anodina, sp. nov.; P. longa, sp. nov.; Potaspina australien

Abstract:
A new genus and species of sabellid polychaete from an organically enriched beach in São Sebastião, State of São Paulo, is described. Kirkia heterobranchiata is unique among sabellids for brooding the embryos on the dorsalmost pair of radioles, which exhibits several modifications for this purpose, rather than on ventral radioles. Morphologically, K. heterobranchiata is most closely related to Perkinsiana riwo, here referred to as the new genus, as suggested by phylogenetic analysis. The new genus is characterized by the shape of the lips (dorsal lips roughly triangular, broader than long; ven

Members of Parasabella minuta Treadwell, 1941, subsequently moved to Perkinsiana, were collected during a survey of rocky intertidal polychaetes along the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Additional specimens, which are referred to two new species, were also found in similar habitats from the Bocas del Toro Archipelago, Caribbean Panama, and Oahu Island, Hawaii. A phylogenetic analysis of Sabellinae, including members of P. minuta and the two new species, provided justification for establishing a new generic hypothesis, Sabellomma gen. nov., for these individuals. The Indonesian archipelago is one of the most diverse regions in the marine World. Many contributions on polychaete worms have been published since the Dutch Siboga Expedition to the Indonesian archipelago at the end of the 19th century. In this study, we examined specimens of Sabellidae Latreille, 1825 collected during the Snellius II Expedition (1984) to Indonesia, carried out by the Dutch Research Vessel (RV) “Tyro” and the Indonesian RV “Samudera”. The results include reports of Acromegalomma acrophthalmos, A. interruptum, A. sp., Bispira manicata, B. porifera, B. secusoluta, Branchiomma b

Sabellid species are known to have a broad depth distribution and have been reported from various deep-sea habitats, including chemosynthetic systems. Despite this presence, only two species have been identified from deep water chemosynthetic habitats and only one has been identified to species. When examining hydrocarbon seep systems along the Upper Louisiana Slope in the Gulf of Mexico, we observed an abundant sabellid species new to science. The characters for the collected specimens did not match any existing genus. The description for the new sabellid genus and species are presented, suppo
