Предметною областю дослідження є процес автоматичної збірки програмних бібліотек написаних мовою програмування Perl Метою дослідження є скорочення часу, яке витрачається інженерами програмного забезпечення на написання файлів специфікації для збірки Perl модулів або ж бібліотек в RPM пакунки та їх подальшому розміщенню в RPM репозиторіях. Щодо подальшої модернізації процесу, можна зазначити, що окрім Perl модулів автоматизації також потребують програмні модулі, які написанні іншими мовами програмування, наприклад, python. Якщо взяти до прикладу систему збірки пакунків Open build service(скорочено OBS), то ця система може тільки збирати пакунки за вже готовими файлами специфікацій, тому в цьому випадку можна також додати інтеграцію до подібних систем. Даний інструмент буде в нагоді компанія або ж розробникам, які створюють та розповсюджують власне програмне забезпечення через RPM пакунки та RPM репозиторії.
The subject area of research is the process of automatic assembly of software libraries written in the Perl programming language The purpose of the study is to reduce the time spent by software engineers on writing specification files for assembling Perl modules or libraries in RPM packages and their subsequent placement in RPM repositories. Regarding further modernization of the process, it can be noted that in addition to Perl, automation modules also require software modules that are written in other programming languages, such as python. Take, for example, the Open build service (OBS) package building system, which can only build packages from ready-made specification files, so you can also add integration to such systems. This tool will be useful for companies or developers who create and distribute their own software through RPM packages and RPM repositories.

I ett datanätverk är det många som ska dela på de resurser som finns, av det kan användaren uppleva att nätverket går långsamt. Denna rapport gör en undersökning på Nya Slottet Bjärka Säby i Linköping varför deras nätverk upplevs långsamt. Genom att utföra en nätversktappning kunde en baseline skapas för att sedan ta ut information genom ett Perl skript. Resultatet visa inga direkta problematik på nätverket, men det noterades att IPv6 förekom på nätverket som är onödigt protokoll för detta nätverk. Det rekommendera alltså att avaktivera IPv6 så långt det är möjligt. Undersökningen varade under en vecka och har för lite information för att ge en riktigt förklaring för den upplevda hastigheten och det rekommenderas att göra flera tester, för att kunna hitta det eventuella felet.
In a computer network there are many users that need to share the same resources and by that the user may experience the network to be very slow. This report investigate the network in Nya Slottet Bjärka Säby i Linköping why it is slow. Be doing a network tapping and collecting whats on the network, with a written Perl script that graphed out collected data, showed that no direct problem could be pointed out. It was noted that IPv6 was present on the network, that for this network is unnecessary and it's recommend to turn it off where it's possible. The investigation was for a week and shows to little information to find the real problem for the network speed. It recommends that more testing is performed to find the problem.

Abstract:
Detta projekt har haft som fokus att skapa ett system där användare med hjälp av SSH ska kunna logga in på en server och utföra konfigurationer på switchar och routrar med olika krav såsom att enbart en användare får vara inloggad i systemet åt gången. För att uppnå målen och kraven så användes ett par olika skript med språk såsom shell, bash, perl och expect. Resultatet visar en färdig produkt och att detta projekt var genomförbart. Lösningsförslaget finns presenterat i form av ett flödesschema och sedan vanlig text. Slutligen presenteras och diskuteras även andra alternativa lösningar.
The projects main focus have been to create a system mainly for the users that study network technology on a more advanced level. In order for the students to start to configure the switches and routers they need to access a server with the SSH protocol which was one of the requirements. Another requirement was that only one user should be able to configure at same time (so two users should NOT be able to configure the switches and routers at the same time). The scripting languages that was used was bash, shell, perl and expect in order to achieve these goals and requirement. The result shows a finished product and that this project was feasable. The solution is presented as a flowchart as an overview and some regular text that explains the scripts in more depth. There are of course a ton of other ways to solve this problem and a few of them are presented and discussed in the later chapters.

Abstract:
In 1987, computer programmer and linguist Larry Wall authored the general-purpose, high-level, interpreted, dynamic Unix scripting language, Perl. Borrowing features from C and awk, Perl was originally intended as a scripting language for text-processing. However, with the rising popularity of the Internet and the advent of Tim Berners-Lee’s World Wide Web (Web), in the 1990s, Perl soon became the glue-language for the Internet, due in large part to its relationship to the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and the Common Gateway Interface (CGI). Perl was the go-to language for on the fly program writing and coding, gaining accolades from the likes of publisher Tim O’Reilly and hackers alike. Perl became a favorite language of amateur Web users, whom net artist Olia Lialina calls barbarians, or the indigenous. These users authored everything from database scripts to social spaces like chatrooms and bulletin boards. Perl, while largely ignored today, played a fundamental role in facilitating those social spaces and interactions of Web 1.0, or what I refer to as a Perl-net. Thus, Perl informed today’s more ubiquitous digital culture, referred to as Web 2.0, and the social web. This project examines Perl’s origin which is predicated on postmodern theories, such as deconstructionism and multiculturalism. Perl’s formal features are differentiated from those of others, like Java. In order to defend Perl’s status as an inherently cultural online tool, this project also analyzes many instances of cultural artifacts: script programs, chatrooms, code poetry, webpages, and net art. This cultural analysis is guided by the work of contemporary media archaeologists: Lialina and Dragan Espenschied, Erkki Huhtamo and Jussi Parikka. Lastly, the present state of digital culture is analyzed in an effort to re-consider the Perl scripting language as a relevant, critical computer language, capable of aiding in deprogramming the contemporary user.

Sammanfattning

Skriptspråk har under det senaste decenniet fått en ökad spridning, både gällande användare och gällande användningsområden. Från att huvudsakligen ha använts till enklare dagliga administratörsuppgifter används idag skriptspråken inom många områden där tidigare enbart

systemspråk var ett alternativ. Denna uppsats undersöker och granskar fem skriptspråk: PHP, Perl, Ruby, Tcl och PostScript. Målet är att undersöka språkens egenskaper och se på skillnader språken emellan. Vi jämför också skriptspråken mot systemspråket C, som dock inte granskas för sig. Vi utför ett test där quicksort-algoritmen används för att sortera ett antal element som läses in från fil. Ett testskript skrivs i varje språk, och dess effektivitet och expressivitet jämförs.

Vi kommer i denna uppsats fram till att definitionen för skriptspråk, och det som skiljer skriptspråk från systemspråk, är skriptspråkens avsaknad av ett separat kompileringssteg. En annan viktig aspekt är skriptspråkens användning av dynamisk typbindning för variabler. De

tester vi gjort visar att inget av skriptspråken kan mäta sig med systemspråket C vad gäller exekveringstid, däremot är de bättre gällande expressivitet. Av skriptspråken är Perl det språk som är snabbast och PostScript det språk som är långsammast.


Abstract

During the last decade, scripting languages have seen an increase in both number of users and areas of development. Earlier, scripting languages were mainly used for everyday system administration tasks. Nowadays, scripting languages are used in areas where previously only

system languages were an alternative. In this dissertation, five scripting languages are compared and reviewed. The languages are: PHP, Perl, Ruby, Tcl, and PostScript. The goal is to examine characteristics of the languages and illustrate the differences between them. We also compare the scripting languages against the system language C, which is not examined in this dissertation. We perform a test where the quicksort algorithm is used to sort a number of elements which are read from file. A test script is written in every language, and their efficiency and expressiveness are compared.

In this dissertation we come to the conclusion that the definition of scripting languages, and the main difference between scripting languages and system languages, is the absence of a separate compiling stage for scripting languages. We also consider the use of dynamic typing regarding variables to be an important aspect of scripting languages. The tests have shown that scripting languages can not compete with the system language C regarding efficiency of execution, but the scripting languages have a higher level of expressiveness. Perl is fastest among the scripting languages and PostScript is the slowest.

This study presents a topical and chronological analysis of the published works of Fritz Perls with particular attention to specified theoretical continua. The theoretical continua specified are: 1. Determinism vs. Free Will, 2. Unconscious vs. Conscious, 3. Monism vs. Dualism, A. Physical vs. Mental, 5. Nativism vs. Environmental ism, 6. Elementalism vs. Holism, 7. Reactive vs. Proactive, 8. Subjective vs. Objective, 9. Responsibility vs. Helplessness, 10. Thinking vs. Feeling, and 11. Heterostasis vs. Homeostasis. Each continuum is analyzed in reference to Perls' published thought and his stated beliefs are described and reported. Large sections of the dissertation are devoted to the intellectual, philosophical, and emotional influences that led Perls to write the theory of Gestalt therapy. The dissertation concludes with the report of Perls' position on each defined continuum, with discussion of empirical studies, Gestalt therapy and other major theories of counseling that hold parallel theoretical positions, concluding with a discussion of the limitations of the theory of Gestalt therapy and of this dissertation.

Abstract:

Målet med projektet var att skapa en applikation för Ericsson AB R&D som kan hjälpa till att analysera datatrafiken i deras nätverk (ECN). Det finns tre stycken accesspunkter till ECN som skyddas av brandväggar. Alla datauppkopplingar genom brandväggarna lagras dygnvis i loggar. Genom loggarna kan obehörig trafik upptäckas. Ett verktyg som analyserar brandväggsloggarna underlättar arbetet.

Resultatet av mitt examensarbete är en applikation som är skriven i Perl. Programmeringsspråket Perl valdes för dess effektiva texthantering. Programmet exekveras genom terminalen (Solaris) / kommandoraden (Windows). De två viktigaste funktionerna är Searchlog och Check. Searchlog hanterar sökning av IP-adresser och Check kontrollerar att det inte finns några säkerhetsöverträdelser i brandväggsloggarna. Funktionerna har konstruerats så att största vikt är lagd på exekveringstiden och korrekt utdata.

Slutsatsen av arbetet med brandväggsloggar är att det kräver testning för att få programmet att uppnå optimalt resultat. Perls reguljära uttryck var till stor hjälp i mitt arbete. De är bra vid behandling av stora mängder text. Minnesanvändningen kanske kan göras effektivare. Eftersom att exekveringstiden prioriterades kom det i andra hand.


The goal of this project was to construct an application that can analyze the traffic through the network (ECN) at Ericsson. There are three accesspoints to ECN protected by firewalls. The connections through the firewalls are logged daily. With the help from firewall logs unauthorized access can be found. A tool which analyzes the logs is therefore needed.

The program is made in the computer language Perl. Perl was chosen because of its superior text handling capabilities. The application is executed through the terminal/command line. The two most important functions are Searchlog and Check. Searchlog handles the IP-searching and the Check function searches for unauthorized connections in the firewall logs. Execution time and data integrity were the main goals that were strived for.

My conclusion is that working with firewall logs requires a lot of testing to achieve the best result. I realized that regular expressions is the easiest and most powerful tool to use when working with large amounts of text. Since the speed was prioritized and not memory usage there is room for memory improvement.

Abstract:
Proceeding from a specification, one develops an abstract mathematical model of a system, or portion of a system. This model of a system is validated to insure that the specification is interpreted accurately and to explore different algorithms for implementing the system behavior. We use the words â portion of a system,â because only rarely are systems designed wholly using a purely top-down approach. Commonly, the design approach is a mixture of top-down and bottom-up. But even in this mixed approach, top-down techniques are critical to the development of new, advanced system features and improving the performance of existing system components. An example of this style of design tools and environments is Ptolemy II. Ptolemy II is a high-level modeling tool created at UC-Berkeley. It supports heterogeneous and homogeneous modeling, simulation, and design of concurrent systems. High-level modeling of such embedded systems as digital electronics, hardware, and software can be effectively represented. The bottom-up design approach exploits design reuse to achieve the productivity necessary to build complex systems. Historically, chip design companies have always reused designs in going from one product generation to another, but the efficiency of bottom-up design is enhanced by the use of IP (Intellectual Property) cores that a company can buy from an outside source. Design libraries are useful for system design and are an example of IP cores. A sound methodology to translate Ptolemy models to SystemC models would have a very beneficial effect on the CAD/EDA industry. Ptolemy II is written in Java and its high-level designs, or abstract graph models, are represented as XML documents. Ptolemyâ s major emphasis is on the methodology for defining and producing embedded software together with the system in which it is embedded. SystemC is written in C++, and its industrial use is gaining momentum due to its ability to represent functionality, communication, software, and hardware at various levels of abstraction. SystemC produces synthesizable code. A methodology to convert Ptolemy models to synthesizable SystemC code would be the technical epitome of a hybrid between top-down and bottom-up design styles and methodologies. Such a methodology would enable system designers to obtain fast design exploration, efficient IP-reuse, and validation. Ptolemy has various components and models of computation. A model of computation dictates how components interact between other components. SystemC has its own models of computation and design libraries. XML and Perl are both powerful tools by themselves, and we use these tools in this research to create a sound methodology for translating Ptolemy models (high-level of abstraction) to synthesizable SystemC code (low-level of abstraction), i.e.: code which can serve as input to hardware tools.

Computer networks are used in much wider extent than 20 years ago. People use the computer mainly for communication, entertainment and data storage. Information is often stored only in electronic devices and that is why the security of the data is so important. The objective of my thesis is to describe network security problems and their solutions. First chapter deals with the network security, security checks and attacks. It describes procedures used in practise. First part deals with traffic scanning and filtering at various layers of the TCP/IP model. Second part presents the types of proxy and its pros and cons. Network Address Translation (NAT) is a favourite technique of managing IP addresses of inside and outside network which helps to improve the security and lower the costs paid for IP addresses. NAT description, IPSec, VPN and basic attacks are described in this section. The second chapter of the thesis presents set of Perl scripts for network security checking. The purpose of the project is not to check the whole network security. It is designed for contemporary needs of IBM Global Services Delivery Centrum Brno. The first script checks running applications on target object. The aim is to detect services that are not necessary to run or that are not updated. The second one checks the security of the Cisco device configuration. There is a list of rules that has to be kept. The third script inspects the Nokia firewall configuration which is on the border of IBM network. If some of the rule is broken, it shows the command that has to be proceeded at the particular device. The output of the first and the second script is an HTML file. The third script uses the command line for the final report. The last part of this chapter gives advice to configure Cisco devices. It is a list of security recommendations that can be used by configuring e.g. routers. The appendix presents two laboratory exercises. The aim is to give students an opportunity to learn something about programs and technologies which are used in practise by IT experts to check the weaknesses of their networks.

Le problème de la segmentation en mots, ou itémisation, est souvent considéré comme trivial grâce à la présence de séparateurs dans l'écriture. L'essor de l'Internet et surtout du Web a rendu disponibles des millions de documents dans une multitude de langues et généré un intérêt pour les applications multilingues, qui ont rapidement montré les limites des approches simplistes en vigueur jusqu'à présent. L'étude, d'une part, des systèmes d'analyse morphologiques (en particulier les formalismes fondés sur les états finis), et d'autre part, des applications spécialisées pour l'itémisation dans différentes langues réputées difficiles (japonais, chinois, thaï) mène à des observations contrastées. La notion même de mot, et donc le processus d'itémisation, varie grandement d'une langue à l'autre ; et s'il n'existe pas de méthode générique, surtout en l'absence de séparateurs entre les mots, des approches similaires sont employées par différents systèmes pour différentes langues. On propose de se placer au dessus de l'itémisation et de parler de segmentation de texte en général. On introduit un langage spécialisé pour la segmentation nommé Sumo (Segmentation Universelle Multiple par Ordinateur) dont la principale caractéristique est d'offrir une séparation claire entre le processus de segmentation et la ou les langues considérées. On a donc d'une part une structure de donnée dédiée, qui représente un document simultanément à différents niveaux de segmentation (en mots, en phrases, etc. ) À chaque niveau correspond un graphe d'items, les unités de segmentation à ce niveau. Cette structure à étages est fondée sur les automates d'états finis pondérés. D'autre part, on définit une algèbre pour la manipulation de ces structures, comme il en existe une pour la manipulation d'automates d'états finis. En plus de cette algèbre, on dispose également d'un langage de contrôle permettant de construire des applications de segmentation sophistiquées. Un prototype expérimental de calcul à états finis pondéré réalisé en Perl est présenté, et la réalisation d'un système complet, efficace et robuste est discuté. Les applications actuelles et potentielles de Sumo sont présentées, ainsi que les perspectives de développements à venir
The issue of word segmentation, or tokenization, is often treated as a trivial matter because of the use of separators in writing. The rise of the Internet and the Web led to the availability of millions of documents in countless languages, which in turn led to a renewed interest for mutlingual applications. These applications rapidly showed the limitations of the simplistic approaches in use until now. Studying morphological analyzers (especially the ones based on finite-state technology) on the one hand, and specific tokenization applications for “hard” languages (Chinese, Japanese or Thai) on the other hand yields contrasted observations. The very notion of word, and in turn of tokenization, varies widely from one language to the other; and if there is no universal method, especially when there are no written separators, similar approaches are used by different systems for different languages. A proposal is made to consider any kind of text segmentation, rather than tokenization. A specialized language for segmentation is introduced, named Sumo. Its main feature is to offer a clear distinction between the segmentation process and the considered language(s). Sumo defines a dedicated data structure based on weighted finite-state automata, as well as a set of operations on this structure similar to finite- state calculus. Programming sophisticated segmentation applications is done using a specialized control language. An experimental prototype for weighted finite-state calculus has been implemented in Perl, and the implementation of a full, efficient and robust system is discussed. Current and potential applications of Sumo are discussed, as well as future work on the formalism

This diploma thesis is focused on the automatization of digitization workflow in the National Library of Technology, Prague, Czech Republic. This thesis examines possibilities of digitization processes automatization by means of scripts written in Perl programming language and Apache Ant build tool. The advantages and disadvantages of both solutions are analyzed as well as their suitability for automatization of digitization workflow. Based on the comparison of both solutions, the scripts in Perl programming language are selected as the most suitable solution for automatization of digitization workflow. The question whether Ant build tool could be used for the purpose of automatization of digitization workflow is also answered in this thesis. The Ant build tool could be used for the above-mentioned purpose. However, once the activities in the given process divert from the general scope of tasks provided by the Ant build tool, the complexity of the whole solution increases rapidly. This complexity is given by the necessity to use predefined tasks -- sets of functions which have to be combined to create a functional automatization script. Even though Ant is an extendable tool, it is necessary to understand the Java programming language in order to create a new Ant task successfully. On the other hand, the Perl programming language allows easier customization of the script for the purposes of automatization of digitization workflow. Also, the modularity of the Perl programming language makes it easier to create those scripts and modify, correct or develop them even further.

Abstract:
The Virginia Tech Spectral-Line Survey (VTSS) is a high sensitivity, high resolution survey of Hydrogen-$\alpha$ and Sulfur-II emission in the full northern hemisphere. The instrument used for the survey is the Spectral Line Imaging Camera (SLIC). SLIC uses a fast(f/1.2) lens attached to a cryogenically cooled, TK 512x512 CCD with 27 micron pixels. The focal length of the lens is 58mm which gives a pixel size of 1.6 arcminutes. The diameter of each field is 10degrees. A filter wheel ahead of the lens allows for imaging at different wavelengths. Automating the imaging system is desirable and advantageous due to the large scope of the survey. A variety of devices have been developed in order to implement automation of the SLIC observatory. They include an automated focusing mechanism, filter wheel, liquid nitrogen auto fill system, motorized roll-off roof, cloud monitor, and an equatorial mount. A PERL script, called SLICAR (Spectral Line Imaging Camera Automation Routine), was written to control and communicate with the various hardware and software components. The program also implements a user prepared Observing File, and makes decisions based on observing conditions.

Individuals that perceive stigma surrounding their identity and fear rejection of support requests may experience a paradox whereby they seek support indirectly from support networks (friends and family) to avoid rejection and are met with unsupportive responses. This study extended this paradox to sexual minorities using survey data from a sample of 133 individuals self-identified as gay and lesbian. Results of structural equation modeling showed self-stigma and fear of support rejection linked to increased indirect support seeking, which in turn explained unsupportive network responses, providing support for a paradox among gays and lesbians. Findings may have implications for interventions to improve support exchanges in the lives of sexual minorities.

Almost all commercially available wireless access devices are special embedded systems with proprietary software that do not allow any modifications. Modifications to these systems are only possible by firmware upgrades released by manufacturers. However, release times of these firmware upgrades are unpredictable, and they are usually for bug-fix purposes rather than being feature and capability improvements. Thus, these devices fail to provide the needed flexibility. Ability to provide timely custom solution that is well integrated into existing network infrastructure is the key factor for a successful wireless access service implementation. In this thesis work, the open source software called AWLP is designed, coded, tested, and released to public as a viable alternative for creating custom wireless access device.

This master thesis deals with wireless sensor network with protocol IPv6. In the begining there are explained the priciples of communication in wireless sensor network, and based on this teories are configured a wireles network with predefined development kit. Furthermore, by using geographic coordinates, positions of the nodes are displayed on a website, what is a part of this thesis. On this website are also presented the measured values from sensors. For saving all informations and measured values about each nodes was used remote MySQL server. Communication between this server and 6LoWPAN network provide Perl script which is runs at periodical intervals. With this method automatization of the whole system are ensured.

Esta dissertação investiga o processo de conversão automática de textos estruturados para hiperdocumentos. Analisa vantagens e desvantagens da utilização de um processo automático. Faz um levantamento detalhado das etapas envolvidas nesta conversão. Como resultado da pesquisa propõe um processo de conversão baseado em definições formais da estrutura dos documentos e das citações. O domínio de aplicação do processo de conversão é o conjunto de normas estatutárias jurídicas brasileiras. Outro resultado deste trabalho é a ferramenta WebifyLaw que implementa o processo de conversão automática para o conjunto das normas estatutárias jurídicas brasileiras. Os resultados da aplicação da WebifyLaw na Constituição Federal, no Código Civil e no Código de Processo Civil e em outras 42 normas são apresentados e discutidos.
This work centered in the research of the automatic conversion of structured texts into hyperdocuments. It presents an analysis concerning the advantages and disadvantages of such automatic process. It also details the steps involved in this conversion. As one of the results it proposes an automatic conversion process, which is based on document structure and citations´ formal definitions. The application domain is set as Brazilian statutory norms. Another contribution from this work is a tool called WebifyLaw, which implements the automatic conversion process for the chosen domain. The tool was applied to the Brazilian Constitution, the Civil Code among other 42 norms. The results obtained in using this application are also presented and discussed.
