In this study, we created the maps of natural fire hazard for Perm krai and Sverdlovsk oblast, based on the Random Forest Regressor machine learning model. It was trained with the materials on wildfires occurred in Perm krai in 2010–2022. Publicly available datasets characterizing forest cover, climate, terrain and the degree of anthropogenic impact on the territory were used as predictors. The most important among them are the distribution of pine forests, bogs (positive correlation), and elevation (negative correlation). For the territory of Perm krai, we found a good accordance of predicted

Per1 expression increases during the day and decreases at night. The neurons which express the Per1 gene show different behaviours to non-Per1 neurons during the day-night cycle. Abstract:
AbstractCircular business model innovation is about innovating the business model to create superior customer value propositions, while slowing resource loops through products that last longer, closing resource loops, by recycling materials, narrowing the loop by using less material per product and in manufacturing processes, and regenerating resource loops through using renewables and creating benefits for the natural environment. Despite the potential, and emerging circular business model examples by companies, only a limited percentage of products and materials is currently recycled, let alone repaired, or refurbished. This chapter addresses new avenues and game changers for research and practice in circular business model innovation, including: the twin transition of digital and circular economies, slowing the loop and regeneration, collaborative business models, and tools, methods, and impact assessment.

The rising levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere significantly contribute to climate change, highlighting the need for effective CO2 mitigation strategies. While capturing and storing CO2 is important, converting it into useful products offers additional environmental and economic benefits. One promising method is the reverse water gas shift (RWGS) reaction, which transforms CO2 into carbon monoxide (CO). Abstract:
The U.S. population is aging rapidly. As people get older, they increasingly face issues such as increased susceptibility to injuries and the need to be assisted with many day-to-day activities. Older adults have the opportunity to opt-in to live in an older adult community (OAC) based on their needs and capabilities. This study comprehensively reviews existing governing development regulations and design criteria related to the older adults’ communities, conducts surveys among people involved with some of these communities in California, and recommends improvements to community design for act

Full text
Abstract:
Web-enabled LLMs routinely answer queries without crediting the pages they consume, creating an “attribution gap” – the difference between relevant URLs visited and those cited. Using 14,000 real-world LMArena logs from search-enabled LLM systems, we highlight three modes of exploitation online: 1) Skipping web search altogether (34% of Google Gemini model answers, 24% of OpenAI’s GPT-4o model answers); 2) Omitting citations entirely – Gemini supplies no clickable citations in 92% of responses; 3) High-volume exploitation: Perplexity’s Sonar visits approximately a dozen relevant pages when sea

Abstract:
This documents explains the basic principles and concepts of the Business Development Centers (BDC) model of Swisscontact, a company providing professional and vocational training, environmental protection and small enterprise development in 25 countries in Latin America, Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia. The document also explains how these principles applied to the Peruvian context.

Santiago, Ana, and Mariana Alfonso. Selection into Teaching: Evidence from Enseña Perú. Inter-American Development Bank, 2010. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0008836.

Abstract:
Having a good teacher is the most important school-related factor for student achievement, to the point of closing the gap between low and high-income students. However, the empirical literature is almost silent regarding teacher selection. This paper estimates a teacher selection model using recruitment data from Enseña Perú, a program that recruits top university graduates from all majors and places them in vulnerable schools. Our results suggest that candidates with volunteering experience and who finished their college degree in the top third of their class are significantly more likely to

Verma, Monika, Thomas Hertel, and Paul Preckel. Predicting Within Country Household Food Expenditure Variation Using International Cross-Section Estimates. GTAP Working Paper, 2009. http://dx.doi.org/10.21642/gtap.wp57.

Abstract:
There is a long and distinguished literature involving demand analysis using international cross-section data. Such models are widely used for predicting national per capita consumption. However, there is nothing in this literature testing the performance of estimated models in predicting demands across the income spectrum within a single country. This paper fills the gap. We estimate an AIDADS model using cross-section international per capita data, and find that it does well in predicting food demand across the income distribution within Bangladesh. This suggests that there may be considerab

Rosas-Shady, David. Impact Evaluation of PROJoven Youth Labor Training Program in Peru. Inter-American Development Bank, 2006. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0008768.

Full text
Abstract:
This document constitutes a comprehensive evaluation of the "Youth Labor Training Program" (PROJOVEN) which was designed by the IDB in 1996 through a technical cooperation and later financed by the Peruvian government. This report presents the basic information about the original program: the context under it was developed, the basic design features (inputs, outputs, outcomes) and the underlying model. The report also analyses the ongoing program, PE0241. Particularly, the emphasis is put on the analysis of the main modifications that were introduced to the original design.

Our research addresses the Sierra Leonean government’s need to optimise and validate an effective model for in-service TPD. As noted, a distributed TPD model is favoured (building on the World Bank’s Free Education project and the Sierra Leone Education Attendance Monitoring System (SLEAMS), using a ‘one-tablet-per-school’ (OTPS) model). Evidence indicates that this low-tech approach to TPD can improve learning outcomes in emergencies (⇡Haßler, et al., 2019). In contrast, COVID-19 interventions that focus on ‘remote learning for children’ are catastrophically failing (⇡Asadullah, 2020; ⇡Asanov

Abstract:
This report presents a number of newly added features to the OBS software relevant to the dynamic simulation of pipelines. The additions include a function to extract on-bottom wave induced velocities and hydrodynamic forces on a given length of pipeline with arbitrary distribution of the nodes; a new dynamic simulation module to perform dynamic simulations for a single pipe node; two new soil models including the Verley and Sotberg for sand as well as a custom soil model as per the approach recommended in DNV-RP-F114. The added soil models are implemented in the dynamic solver, which provide
